I can't believe it's taken me so long to try bb.q chicken! I know it's a chain, but this is some of the best Korean fried chicken I've had. There are many different sauces to choose from, in addition to other dishes like tteokbokki, ramen, fried rice, etc. We tried the rose tteokbokki and it was cooked perfectly. The sauce had a little kick and was the perfect pairing with our chicken. The chicken wings were excellent! The size of the wings were worth the price, the meat was juicy, and the outside was extra crispy and cooked to perfection. Honey garlic is a nice mild flavor and spicy galbi is a smoky spicy sauce that definitely gives galbi vibes. I also have to add that the service was incredible. We were there on a Saturday night, and the wait staff was on their A game. There was always someone checking in on us, and the food came out QUICK! There are a handful of tables, but I would call in advance if you have a big group so they can plan. You can also make a reservation on Yelp. There are a bunch of TV screens around the restaurant which was perfect for watching March Madness! I'll definitely be back to try more wing flavors!

Updated review as of 6/24/26 - ordered 8 pieces spicy original and 8 pieces of soy garlic - wanted to place just one order of 18 pieces with half & half but was told that is not an option. Minus one star for not being able to customize based on preference and that personally felt like it was not worth $1.50 to place two separate orders. Even the manager told us as much as he would have liked to help, not something he could as the owners informed them no. This was something very disappointing as other Korean fried chicken places within town allow you to customize and not charge you extra. - had a side of cheesy sticks, which server informed us it's basically mozzarella sticks, kind of disappointed when it came out as parts of the sticks cold probably from the cheese inside and the crunch on the outside of the cheesy sticks was lacking as well. It felt like biting down on a stale prefrozen sticks that didn't get warmed up enough and definitely not fresh or crispy like it was right out of the fryer. Minus another star from that - ambience was low dimmed lights which really was not appealing from the outside, I thought they were closed when we walked by then walked up saw some people but not very obvious until you're right up to the glass. Inside was chilled cold, like AC and fans all blasting. Which was not expected, had to grab a Columbia Omni heat weather proof jacket, maybe would recommend toning it down when it's in the evening like the last 90 minutes before closing to conserve energy and perhaps turn the lights on brighter to attract customers. Minus another star here. - batter for spicy original was good, the golden standard and chicken was juicy, really would be shocked if this was subpar. Soy garlic didnt hit the spot, the crispiness was more like a glaze that you heat on high heat to let it caramelize then that's it, not much crunch and flavor to it other than that outer layer. So this was disappointing as well.

I have heard good things about this chain and wanted to try it. There is a self-serve kiosk for takeout, and I ordered their small soy garlic wings. What is unique about this place is that you can get a whole chicken here, but I just got their wings. It also comes with a side of radish. Their wings are a bit on the saltier side, but there is a really nice crunch when you bite into them. Their radish was not pickled enough, which would have been very nice, especially when eating the wings. I think overall their prices are a bit on the high side compared to other places, though I would come here again primarily because of the location's convenience. Ambiance is great to hang out with friends and family. I would love to try their other flavors in future visits. Also, best to order ahead of time as it took between 10-15 minutes on a slow day when I ordered it in person.

One of my go-to comfort spots. A must order for me every time is the honey garlic wings. They are just the perfect mixture of sweet and savory and this location always makes the crispiest wings. The marinated radish also provides the perfect refreshment each wing. Service is also quite attentive- they provide a container for bones and also a pair of gloves per person to help prevent the eating process from getting too messy.

They have a huge variety of different Korean Fried Chicken flavors, the most I've seen from a restaurant. I recommend ordering their Honey Garlic/soy Garlic Wings, super crispy and crunchy. My friends and I agreed that the best thing to order here is actually the rose pasta, super creamy, rich in flavors and pricing is very affordable. bb.q chicken actually has one of best pasta I've tried in Oregon I would argue it's worth coming here only for the pasta. 4/5 Stars since out of the 3 times I've been here, services are very slow even during an odd hour on a weekday. They also almost never have specific flavors of chicken we wanted. Their fried chickens are also a bit expensive compared to other restaurants.

This place is so much fun. Good beer, fried chicken with great sauces, big screen TV sets all around, what's not to like? Dinner for 5 tonight. I had the 1/2 chicken with secret sauce. The sauce was great, but do watch out for fine bones in the whole chicken entrees. We had a mozzarella stick appetizer which was fine, what can you really do with breaded deep-fried cheese? The youngster had the chicken Alfredo which was OK - the chicken and sauce was good, but was not the creamiest ever. Two orders of the boneless winger and the Gangnam style was the big winner. Service was fine, our beer arrived promptly and our entrees came in a reasonable time. The ambiance is nice with high ceilings, though it was a little chilly in there - bring a jacket. Hope to come back and try some more sauce flavors!!

Allergy warnings, are they not careful about cross contamination in the kitchen?
    Angela E.

I guess I got lucky when I ate here without an issue! The allergy list that the restaurant has posted is absolutely insane, it truly makes me wonder how serious they are about cross contamination for common allergens. The chicken itself was fairly good but extremely pricey for what you get. The staff were friendly and had nice suggestions for ordering and the restaurant itself was very modern and sleek.

Overall, a 3.75/5. The wings were delicious and well flavored! They were bigger than expected, so full on wings, I anticipated like the bite size but it was equally as good. The atmosphere was super cute, spread out and looked even better in the evening. We went for a girls lunch date but would definitely return for a girls night out! The service was good, started off well but sort of declined as time went on. I understand given the influx of people but we did have to ask for water after multiple of us had empty glasses for a while. Overall, a decent experience and I'd be interested in giving more things a try.

This is the fourth time I've been here and today I was very disappointed. The chicken was soggy and hardly crispy. Which is one of the main selling points of Korean fried chicken. The crispiness. Some of the chicken we ordered hardly had any breading on it at all. Just slabs of saucy chicken. So sad. I brought people from out of state here for a great experience and I was so sad we came here. The place was not busy there was maybe 1 or 2 other tables. It felt like the food was rushed and the quality seriously suffered. The service was not up to par either. It's like we got forgotten about and had to find someone to come help us. Again, not busy... I was really sad to leave this review but I only hope it will cause them to investigate what's going on until he kitchen cause what I was served was not the normal BB.Q!

Came on a weekday when it wasn't busy. The restaurant had some tables that needed to be bussed. Other than that it was clean. We were seated immediately. The waitress came and brought water. Looked at the menu and decided on what to order. took a good 20 minutes before she came back to take the order. The slushy was too sweet for my taste. The orders came out after another 20 minutes. It was fresh and tasty. It took another 20 minutes after finishing for someone to come check if everything was okay, and to bring out the bill. They weren't understaffed so that wouldn't be the issue. Hopefully the owners have worked with their staff to strengthen their customer service.

This is my favorite spot for Korean wings in the Portland Metro area! I'll be comparing this place to Chimcking which is just across the street. What I love - the BIGGEST Korean wings I've ever had - really good crunch and comes out HOT - lots of different flavor options - rose ddotboki is creamy and not too spicy, try dipping the wings in this!! - reasonably priced at $1.80-$1.88 per wing depending on if you order S/M/L What can be improved - Soy garlic is almost there, but I prefer a stronger garlic taste. Chimcking does soy garlic better! - A lot of the other flavors are very similar tasting even though there is a variety of flavors. Would be nice if they were better differentiated. - I've really only ever gone on weekdays, but pretty much wait times are around 20 mins or more. Other thoughts This place and Chimcking are my go-to Korean chicken spots. However, I like this place a little better for the size of their wings and the batter crunch quality. Their classic soy garlic is ALMOST as good as Chimcking's soy garlic but everything else keeps me coming back here.

Another AHMAZING tteokbokki place, a little sad that you have to pay extra for cheese but its definitely not that big of a deal considering how absolutely flavorful this dish is. I loved the consostency of the sauce and the spice level was perfect. we got this for takeout and the wait time was not long. Also i might have finished the whole thing in one sitting...

Dude I fucking love this place. The soy garlic wings are the best wings I've ever had in my life. On top of it our waiter LJ was super kind, attentive without being annoying, and on top of his game. 10/10 recommend.

When we walked in for a Sunday dinner, we were greeted with the smell of roasting chicken and charcoal, a promising sign from the very start. It was pretty busy inside, but after ordering at the counter, the food only took about 15 minutes to arrive. Whole Chicken Meal ($27.74) - The meal comes with two 12 oz sides, an 8oz salsa, and either corn or flour tortillas. For the sides we went with the classic Mexican Rice and the Refried Beans. Both are pretty standard stuff from a Mexican restaurant. The rice is tender with still distinct grains, has an reddish color from tomatoes, and adds a scant amount of veggies mixed through. The beans are mostly smooth throughout, fatty and creamy. We went with the corn tortillas, of which they provide a whole stack of twelve, warmed until steaming, making them hot, soft, and pliable, perfect to eat with the chicken and sides. The chicken is legitimately amazing. Basically the entire restaurant smells like chicken fat being charred over mesquite. It's a mesmerizing smell that made me salivate upon walking in. The chicken is whole roasted with the dark meat and wings being cooked until succulent and juicy. The interior of the breasts are a bit dry, but there's not much that can be done with this cooking method! Otherwise, the char is excellent, creating an almost crust-like nature to the skin and the spice mix imbues a yellow glow to the entire tray. They give so much food that we only finished perhaps a quarter of it. We ended up bringing the rest home on our drive up the next day and ate it for another couple of meals. (5/5) I especially love their salsa bar off to the side of the main counter. There's so much variety, there's surely something to please anyone. They have a mild tomato, a mild but smoky, a spicy and fruity, a green tangy tomatillo, a creamy avocado, a crunchy fresh pico de gallo, a smoky and spicy, and a tangy and spicy salsa - basically all combinations someone could ask for. Even the spiciest additions are still very tolerable to my tastes. We were impressed enough to visit again the next day for lunch: Supreme Burrito al Pastor ($14.37) - This is hefty burrito, almost Mission-sized, being around 4 inch in diameter with the weight to match. It's first filled with plenty of Mexican rice, same as with the meal. For some reason, this time, the rice is hard and tough, like they had reached down to scrape the bottom of the rice cooker. It would likely be the most coveted portion of rice in a tagine or clay pot, but in a burrito, the toughness doesn't work well. On top of the rice are the refried beans, spooned over intermittently. It adds creaminess and fat to the otherwise dry exterior layers. Then the layer of meat begins - cubed pork, marinated in a savory and sweet sauce, then mixed up with chopped pineapples. It's more adobada than al pastor, and is on the sweeter end of things with the pineapple. The spice mixture isn't the most notable; they definitely focus on the chicken at El Jefe vs. the pork. Veggies, including lettuce and a pico de gallo mix cover the meat, followed by thinly shredded cheese and sour cream, which is thick and rich, perhaps more resembling crema than cream, and some guacamole, tangy and fatty. It's not the most even application - for example, the guac only covers one end of the burrito while the sour cream covers the other end. (4/5) I have to say, the chicken served at EL Jefe Grill is perfection. I would revisit just for that. Bathrooms - Two unisex rooms Note: El Jefe charges a 2.9% credit card fee. This is displayed at the register, but they have their POS set up incorrectly. Firstly, they lump the cost into the menu item instead of separating it out into a fee. Secondly, they actually charge a random fee rather than 2.9%. For example, the whole chicken meal is 3.1% and the supreme burrito is 2.7%. Very bizarre. I reported it to their management so hopefully it gets fixed soon.

It's been around 7 or 8 years since my last visit but I remember the fried chicken sandwiches coming with two thick, juicy, fried boneless thighs. I found it difficult to eat more than half a sandwich given the size and excess meat. Usually I would end up pulling one thigh out and saving it for later! I decided to visit again on a recent weekend trip to Portland, arriving for an early dinner at around 4:30 PM. It was surprisingly busy, with at least a quarter of the seats taken in the shared seating pool even though it was so early in the day. Luckily there wasn't a line to order and the food came out within 15 minutes. Fried Chicken Sandwich ($13) - Just as how I remembered, this sandwich is still huge with two breaded and fried thighs on a bed of lightly dressed, crunchy cole slaw. It's really tall and doesn't compress well due to the abundant crunchy elements throughout. There's the bun that's heavily toasted until extremely, almost aggressively, crisp and almost dark golden brown, absolutely doused in butter a la Texas toast. There are house pickles on the bottom bun, very quickly pickled such that it develops no acidity, but changes to that crunchy yet soggy pickle texture. The two chicken thighs are expertly breaded until full of crags and valleys, seasoned well, and fried until crisp. The crispy quality is of a lighter variety rather than a hard crunch, very delicate as compared to a typical flour based fried chicken dredge. The chicken is different from what I remembered. Instead of being juicy full thighs, almost an inch thick at the meatiest, these patties are thin, sad, like a single thigh butterflied and cut into fourths width-wise. The breading is far thicker than the chicken itself - in fact the chicken almost is an afterthought here, completely getting lost in all the breading and everything else in the sandwich. Seriously, look at some of the photos from other Yelpers taken in 2016 and 2017 and compare to my cross section photo. It's a huge difference. I bet it's a cost cutting measure and it certainly isn't an appreciated change. Maybe it's just a sign of the times - while the 2010s air waves thumped with 'All About That Bass," the thick thighs have now unfortunately been 2020s Ozempic zapped. The major downside of the sandwich is surprisingly the bun. It's by far the most dominant component of the sandwich. It's the crunchiest element and the butter flavor completely overwhelms the taste buds. This is why fried chicken sandwiches are usually served on soft and pillowy buns, or at least buns that are only lightly toasted, so the bread can focus on and cradle the crunch element rather than supersede it. This is the first time that I can recall a sandwich where the bun is the dominant entity. (3/5) Dandan Fries ($10) - These fries are deceptively filling. They're really snackable and give a distinct moreish quality. It's like a snack where I absentmindedly keep reaching in the bag for more and suddenly it's completely empty. The fries combine a somewhat lightly fried potato, a delicate crisp on the outside and an extremely fluffy almost fall-apart tender inside, with a nutty, spicy, and mouth tingly mala sauce. The sauce is thick, rich, filled with fatty goodness. It's actually a really good glue, adhering the crushed peanuts on the fries so well, nothing falls off while lifting the fries out of the bowl. I especially love the mini cornichons mixed into the fries. They add just a bit of sweetness and acidity that balances so well with the fatty dandan inspired sauce. Without them, I think the dish would feel far too rich. With them, the fries go down the gullet at a quick rate. (5/5) I can't help but feel a little disappointed at Basilisk. It's another one of those places that seems to have decided to sacrifice quality in order to keep prices relatively low. While I enjoyed the Dandan Fries, I'm not sure that's enough of a draw to get me to revisit. Bathrooms - Four unisex rooms shared with the other establishments in the building.
