Came here with my BFF and BF. I've been a longtime fan of bb.q Chicken ever since I discovered them through a family friend. They use soybean oil at this location, so my BF was able to eat it (yay!). Some of my favorite flavors are Gangnam Style and Gangjeong. Atmosphere-wise, I love the music choices they have here, but they had it a bit louder than I'd like. Service was great--it took about 20 minutes for our chicken to come out hot off the press. The staff was really sweet, and the girl who helped us listened to our complaint about the Gangnam chicken. Understandably, the issue was outside of her control, but I appreciated how attentive she was. Gangnam Style (Boneless) - Unfortunately, it wasn't as crunchy as I've had at the Katy location, which really lowered my impression of their quality. It also didn't have the same saucy shine I'm used to seeing there. Overall, the lack of a strong sauce coating made the flavor feel weak. A bit disappointing since this is usually one of my favorite flavors. Soy Garlic (Boneless) - Not my favorite flavor, but this one was exceptionally crunchy. I didn't get much of a garlic taste from this one, though. I think the flavor grew on me over time, mainly because it was so well made. I expected that same level of execution from the Gangnam Style, but it just didn't deliver in the same way. Daikon - Still super on point--crunchy and fresh as usual. Overall, not my best experience with bb.q Chicken, but not the worst either. I probably wouldn't come back to this location since I'm a loyal lover of the Katy location's quality. I'll be honest, this was one of the most disappointing Korean fried chicken experiences I've had in Houston. Nut allergy friendly: This location seems to use soybean oil. The wall and website say olive oil. I've been to another location that uses peanut oil. Who knows at this point but I was okay eating here. Time to Order: 22 Minutes Parking: Huge plaza, gets iffy since there are many restaurants and H-Mart. Usually fine. We arrived at 11:10AM on a Sunday and the restaurant was relatively empty. People trickled in while we were there. Ordered an unsweetened green tea (it's just Ito En) and a 16-piece boneless combo for 3 people (we were eating light). Chose the Gangnam Style (black pepper sauce) and Soy Garlic for our flavors. The chicken arrived with two small cups of daikon radish. Honestly, the radish was probably my favorite part of the meal. Gangnam Style (2/5) was noted to be different than other locations. The black pepper flavor came through but it was not as saucy as it should have been, according to my friend. My piece here was relatively crispy, but I didn't think much of the flavor. Soy Garlic (1.5/5) I didn't get much flavor here at all. Worst of all, I bit into the freshly hot piece of chicken and... it was just soggy. No crisp. The worst sin of Korean fried chicken. I think I got unlucky because my table had other pieces that were fine, but I was not eating much so I didn't go for a second piece. Lastly, these were small pieces of chicken. Was craving Korean fried chicken, so we decided to come here on a Monday night. There was plenty of parking, and the restaurant had ample seating. Upon entering, we were greeted by the server and quickly seated. The restaurant was clean and had K-pop music playing, which created a chill and fun vibe. It was sweet with perfectly melted cheese on top that complemented the dish well. The wings were delicious as well, made to order and super crispy with a satisfying crunch! If you're craving for Korean fried chicken, bb.q Chicken is where it's at. They use olive oil (I need to confirm if they use extra virgin olive oil) and flavor-wise is pretty consistent with all their locations that I've been to. Spicy original, soy garlic, and gangnam are my top 3 flavors for their wings. This location tends to be less crowded compare to their Katy location. Wings comes out in about 20 minutes. Sometimes the server will see you and sometimes they forget you. At this location, you sit down and order at your table then they bring out your drinks and foods. Sometimes I pay at the register and sometimes I pay at my table. It depends on their mood. The staffs are what makes the business. Corned cheese is served in a rice Japanese bowl... strange that it doesn't burn the bowl when they burn the top. Good but probably better if served on a small cast iron. Wings are usually pretty good. Sometimes, you might get a lot of broken bones within the wings. Not sure why it's only at this location that happens so be cautious even though you're eating wings. While eating at home, I found a sharp, dangerous piece of metal--likely a fragment from a metal scouring pad--embedded inside the Secret Sauce chicken. [Employee vs. Manager Response & Unprofessional Attitude] When I called the store on Friday right after finding the metal piece, the staff member offered an apology. However, the manager offered NO apology at all. Despite knowing I live a 40-minute round trip away (requiring toll fees), management insisted that no refund could be processed unless I physically brought the food back to the store. The following morning (Saturday, July 25), the manager called me back. Throughout the call, she was extremely rude and dismissive, repeatedly hiding behind "policy is policy." I will say that some pieces of the chicken look like babies but other than that it's good. The soy garlic chicken was super crispy and the flavor was amazing. If you're looking for a place to bring a crowd, this is it!! I came here with all of my siblings and my absolute favorite flavor that I always get is the cheeseling which comes boneless. It looks like a lot of cheese powder when you first get it, but it is absolutely necessary because the cheese powder is so delicious. This is my first time getting the normal fried chicken that was supposed to be spicy. My favorite KFC spot in Houston! I know bb.q chicken is a chain but both this and the Westheimer location don't miss! I love how crispy the outside always is while the inside of their chicken is juicy and tender. The flavors for the wings though does feel limited to me, like I wish there were some more unique flavors, but a solid favorite of mine is the soy garlic wings. My boyfriend and I will usually order half order of soy garlic wings and a half order of another flavor and that's more than enough food for the two of us where we end up with leftovers. Note they do not accommodate requests for all flats or all drums. This location has some flavors that the other location does not so that was nice surprise. The interior is pretty spacious and everything looked well maintained / clean, which I would expect given it's new. The only weird thing was all the tables were 4-6 seaters. No small tables for 1-2 people. Now there was never a line for seating but if it gets busier, it seems like the table setup is not the most optimal. Bathrooms are large and clean and there's a log showing when it was last cleaned, which seems to be more than a few times a day. Now to the food! Everything was cooked well, crispy and held up with the sauce, tender and juicy! Ratings on the flavor: - Secret sauce (3/5): sweet and tangy is the description and I would agree. I usually enjoy this brand especially the Westheimer Rd. location, which always provides great service. Unfortunately, my recent experience at this location was extremely disappointing. I accidentally selected hot spicy instead of spicy original in the bbq chicken app, I went to the store to get it corrected. Even after showing proof that the order came through their official app, the staff insisted multiple times that it "wasn't their issue" and that I needed to contact DoorDash even though no delivery service was involved (Their website is powered by Doordash). It was concerning that the employee didn't seem familiar with the store's own services or how the app them directs customers to the store location for support. On the app it directed me to the store locations phone number. I even demonstrated this by showing the order, requesting customer support and calling the support number in front of the employee, and she answered the store phone herself. They refused to exchange or correct the order, saying they "lose money." I had even added a note asking not to include pickled radishes in order to avoid waste, but they were added anyway, and overall created even more waste. Afterward, I noticed other customers on here have had similar complaints about the customer service at this location, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Overall, very dismissive and despite the proof and the fact that the app directs customers to the exact store location for order issues, they refused to help. I hope management addresses these issues, because I genuinely like this brand and would like to continue supporting it. I was looking for a quick place to grab some korean wings in Chinatown and found this place closet to BW8. Although they don't have the highest rating on Yelp, they do specialize in KFC, and the inside is pretty new, clean, and modern. They have 5 TVs with 4 playing KPop videos, while 1 was playing food related programming during my visit. The menu is pretty simple and has basically various types of chicken: boneless, bone in, whole chicken pieces, and apps. There is also a drink menu with cokes, korean drinks, and even korean cocktails that use soju. I ordered the medium spicy kalbi bone in wings and the Ddeok Bokki with cheese. They say their medium comes with between 8-10 pieces, while their large comes with 16-18 pieces. I thought the flavor was pretty good, but I think I just should have stuck with a more basic flavor like their Gplden original or spicy golden original. Their menu at the counter is slightly different than some flavors featured on posters along the wall. I wish i would have ordered the flavor on the poster, but oh well, too late now. The ddeok bokki is slightly spicy and pretty good also. Either way, if you're craving KFC, this is a decent option to try. read more

The best flavors imo are cheeseling and honey garlic. The cheeseling is coated in loose cheese powder that if you breathe in while taking a bite, you'll get some dust in your throat so be careful! I've been binging K-drama on Netflix as of late. I've just finished watching Crash Landing on You and there was this fried chicken restaurant that was shown throughout the series. I was ecstatic when I found out that same place has a chain location right here in Chinatown! Hellooo!! I immediately planned a lunch date with my husband and overall we had a wonderful time. First, the music that is blasted there is obviously K-pop and even V-pop. We tried the Golden Original whole chicken (meaning bone-in), Sweet Potato Fries, and Ddeok-Bokki. I've waited over a year after seeing the sign up on the building where Niu Yi Zui Lamen used to be prior to CoVid. I was craving for fried chicken right after attending CMYE at AtCha. They had chicken but I chose to hold my appetite until I can get a quick grab at bb.q. However, the food is not fast at this restaurant. As I walked in, I was greeted by "wait to be seated" sign. Employee was helping me to understand how to order at the counter. After I paid for my food, he said "it would be 20-25 minutes." Oh no. My lunch break would be over by then. So, I asked if I can pick up next day. He confirmed with his manager. Great, I took my appetizer home first. It was Tteok-bokki, spicy rice cake bowl. The portion was snack size and it cost me $11 and some change. It tasted ok. It's my fault not given me enough time to enjoy at this new Korean food restaurant. Next day, I went back to the restaurant to pick up my medium sized boneless wings. I ordered kalbi flavor but they have a hint of kicking spiciness in the back. I had to check with other Yelper to make sure the flavor was correct. I guess the front desk or kitchen mixed up my order. Medium size chicken was plenty for me and my family. We're old folks. We don't eat a whole lot. Because the strong flavor, I had to eat it with steamed rice. After it cooled down, the chicken pieces got hard. Again, I'm an old man with weak teeth to chew. I had to chop them up and cook in my ramen soup. It actually flavored my ramen well. Oh so yummy. The whole box took me 3 meals to finish. It baffled me why mine was spicy. I'll find out when I go back to the restaurant after I get my bonus pay. It wasn't cheap eating there. I spent all my allowance from August to pay for that meal. Oh. Another note to self, don't eat the pickled radish in the house. Family member noticed the odor and knew what I bought home. I learned a recipe to make my own chicken-mu.
