They also cooked the meats perfectly for us, allowing us to enjoy the meal and have conversations without worrying about burning the food. We were sitting at the round tables in the middle of the restaurant so maybe it was just that spot, hopefully the side booths are better. Me and my friend came here last October to try the AYCE (All You Can Eat) option on a Sunday afternoon. That was $32.99 per person. Food was absolutely delicious and the presentation was overwhelming. The lady came to help us to put meat on the grill and constantly asking if we want more meat. I was full pretty quickly because we ordered too much too fast. AYCE is good if you don't know which meat you like the most. For us, not so much. We both don't eat pork. I've been going to Honey Pig for years, and they have always been one of my favorite KBBQ spots around town. This is one of the few KBBQ spots where they actually help cook the meat for you (you can do some yourself too). The service is always amazing. The restaurant is spacious but is always busy during dinner/lunch hours. The costs are pricier than other KBBQ spots around town, but the quality of the meats here is also much better. You can order special combo and/or a-la-carte. Super affordable lunch combos are also available for weekday lunches. I especially love how they have AYCE options now on the weekends. There are 2 ACYE menus to choose from: the $32.99 AYCE A and the $39.99 AYCE B (everything on A plus more meats & seafoods). I opted for the ACYE A during my recent visit because it already comes with plenty of meats, side dishes, and sauces. I was able to call in to make a reservation for 6 people at 12:00pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was quite empty when we arrived, so we could have walked in if we had not made the reservation. I have been to the North Austin location countless times, and they do not have all you can eat at that location. So I was very surprised to learn this location offers it! But we decided to get the premium combo since it comes with 9 different meats of pork, beef and squid, as well as steamed egg, soybean paste soup, and 3 bowls of rice. It is so nice that the staff cooks the meat for you at your table and let you know when it is ready to eat. As always, it was delicious. The servings are so generous. Had a great experience here. It was my first time and we had great service. We had a big group so I got two of the premium special combos. For me this was good for like 8 adults and 4 kids included. I liked how it was cooked for us since they knew how long everything was to be cooked and I can concentrate on the kids and family and not have to memorize cooking times for each meat. They are super particular with the booth seats here. I was 9 months pregnant with a toddler and we requested to be sat in a booth (there were multiple open and no one was waiting for a table) they kept pushing for us to sit in the middle tables. I tried to explain that it would be uncomfortable without a back to my chair lol. Anyways, we had to wait for the booth for 4 ppl instead of letting us sit at the multiple empty booths for 6 - it was just annoying or maybe preggo hormones? Honey Pig's expansion into Texas has been met with lots of praise and deservedly so. Initially I was puzzled as to why they wouldn't consider opening up in Spring Branch, the city's K-Town, but this Bellaire Asiatown location is just as suitable and is likely better for business. Overall, this place is authentic and reminds me of how it's done in Korea. There's a certain chaos in the ambiance, which is normal and appreciated. The setup is spacious, clean, and the ventilation is on point. KBBQ is more fun in groups, so consider making reservations if your party exceeds 10 people. Unfortunately this is not one of the all you can eat locations (#1), but the meat platters are where it's at. I usually prefer the premium combination of meats, which include pork belly, kalbi, ribeye, boneless rib, brisket, and pork deck with seafood. Additional a la carte options are available, so other meats can be added. Prices are not cheap, but I don't know of any à la carte Korean barbecue places that are. I was quite impressed with their haemulpajun, which was caked in seafood and the mandu (steamed and fried) was tasty. I also think their corn cheese is a fun addition as well as their tteokboki. Bibimbap fans will be happy to know there are multiple options, but I think barbecue is their best asset. For the folks who are complaining about staff stepping in to help cut and prepare the meats for grilling: This is incredibly normal. Let them help you. They probably know what they're doing when it comes to keeping these meats from burning. Another note about the staff is that they actually speak Korean, which is a nice change compared to other Korean spots in the loop. At the end of the day I think. Happy Pig is worthy of being included amongst quality KBBQ options. We came in on a Friday & there is no lunch special which I thought it was from Monday-Friday but it's actually just Monday-Thursday. It also comes with some sides which was limited & they also give you some soup, steamed eggs & white rice. I'll start with the sides, they were pretty horrible in my opinion. The only item that was good was the salad. It was simple & the sauce was delicious, I think it was some kind of garlic sauce. The soup was terrible, bland & odd tasting. The steamed egg was just as bad. The dumplings was good but it didn't come out piping hot. The beef brisket was alright but the dipping sauce (sesame oil with salt) made it taste better. The bulgogi was good but needed to be marinated longer. What I do like about this spot is that the servers pitch in to help you cook the food. I do understand we go for the experience & getting to cook the meats ourselves but it was nice having our server help us out. I also like the grill matter of fact I actually loved the grill. It doesn't need to be changed & it cooks very well to where your meats don't burn & having the whole place smell like burnt food. Overall, it was a fairly decent experience. Honey Pig was straight fire! Literally and figuratively haha. Their grills are really strong, and the food was on point. You can really tell the quality of the meat here compared to the AYCE spots in Houston. I don't know why I haven't come here sooner. We ordered their beef combo because it's a better deal than trying to order each of the meats a la carte. We came here as a party of 3, but honestly the beef combo was enough for a party of 4 to split. It came with LA beef rib, bulgogi, beef brisket, ribeye steak, and boneless rib. Their banchan was delicious as well and came with a wide variety including steamed egg and miso soup, my favorite is the fish cake though. The real star of the show here though is their service. They were attentive and had extremely fast service from the moment we sat down. The waiters cook your meat for you, and they even have robots that deliver the meat to your table. I loved that each table has an adjustable vent hood as well so you never leave smelling like Korean bbq. My only complaint was that inside the restaurant was a little hot from all of the strong grills cooking. And their seats are not comfortable unfortunately. Their "cheapest" menu is basically the same cost as Garasou except Garasou actually gives you variety, better quality, and sushi for only $35.99 without locking half the menu behind a paywall. Banchan options are great, and it comes with a side of soybean paste soup and steamed egg (so so so good). The servers will cook the meats for you at your table, which is a plus. They kept checking in on us and helped us cook out meats. The layout is very spacious and clean. They had k-pop music playing and they'll celebrate your birthday month if you tell them. I got the premium combo for a group of 7 (4 adults and 3 kids). The meat wasn't marinated (other than the spicy marination) the dipping sauce didn't really help. No reservation necessary on a weeknight. I went to honey pig on a Thursday at 7pm and was seated immediately. I ordered the beef bulgogi, seafood pancake and some white grape soju. This was the first time I've been to kbbq where the staff has cooked the meat for me! It was honestly a relief because I typically get a little nervous about getting lost in conversation and then burning my food. The bulgogi flavor was great and the meat was cooked nicely. The seafood pancake was different than any other I've ever had. I would say this is more like a seafood waffle - very batter heavy and thick! It's still delicious I've just never seen one that large before and it was way more filling than i expected before of this. Overall this was a quick and easy outing and I'd probably go back. The only weird part of my outing is that there were at like four birthdays while we ate dinner over the course of an hour and...it's wild - they turn off all the lights, blast a birthday song, a robot comes out?? and they pass out sparklers.
