    Beef tongue
    Alex W.

Hits all the basics of an upscale kbbq restaurant. Fresh, high quality meat and the servers know what they are doing. Felt like the pacing was a little off though. We got the combo thing with a bunch of different meats, and the large pork belly was cooked first so we ended up waiting for a good amount of time, and once we started slowing down the beef tongue cooked very quickly and faster than we could eat. The banchan were pretty hit or miss. The kimchi and salad were highlights. Overall taking away a star because I've had better experiences at other high end kbbq restaurants in different cities.

This upscale KBBQ restaurant is a place I have been meaning to try for a while now. I've heard some great things about this place and now I've finally been able to try it. They have parking around the building and also additional parking on the side. While there seems to be a lot of parking, it can fill up quickly! Upon entry, we were greeted and seated immediately. Their menu is pretty simple to understand. We decided on the ABC platter. This one allowed us to choose one meat from each of the three sections. The servers here cook the meat for you. Very delicious. Would recommend :))

Excellent experience!!! Definitely the fastest food service I ever experienced!!! Quality meats !! Lots of yummy side dishes and fresh salad! Good sauce and interesting atmosphere and how the restaurant was designed! Good cooking right in front of you too !! Awesome.

It's been a while since I've been to Bori and my brother wanted to try the new location. It's definitely closer to home, which is nice, and still maintains that fancy vibe. We opted for the butcher's choice. They cook the meat for you and it is portioned out well. The sides are good, but a little sparse, although you can ask for refills. We also got the raw marinated crabs, which my family liked, soft and flavorful. It does feel pretty expensive for what you get, but the meat quality is good. We ended with a mango bingsu, which was a little disappointing because the mangos were sour and frozen solid. We should have gotten the hotteok ice cream, to be honest. Overall, it's a great, high-end experience. It's not cheap and you won't leave feeling like you ate way too much, but if you're looking for a classy KBBQ experience, this is the place!

Finally tried Bori for the first time for dinner at their Montrose location. It is one of, if not the most popular Korean bbq spot in town. They only do à la carte and are known for their high quality meats and service. They are located inside a house, which was really unique. I got the small ABC platter which includes a beef dish from A and B, and a pork dish from C. I ended up getting the ribeye, marinated boneless short rib, and pork jowl. The set comes with corn cheese, steamed egg, and either kimchi or soybean stew. I got the soybean one. They also bring out a salad, some lettuce for wraps, and their 4 sauces. The salad was actually so goood. It is refreshing while also having a burst in flavor. The corn cheese was meh but it came with the meal. Steamed egg was pretty good. Soybean stew had a light savory flavor and a lot of veggies. The server actually cooks for you here. The ribeye was very good but the short rib was definitely the best bite of the night. Pork jowl was good too. From the sauces they give you, I liked the one that was second from the left. The kimchi here is pretty good quality and I liked the pink pickled radish as well. This place definitely has the best quality meat I've had so far for a kbbq place but it is also à la carte and not all you can eat like other places

This was my first time trying the Bori in Montrose and I had an amazing experience. Ambiance, food selection, and service was spot on. We got the Bori Beef Cuts selected cuts and you can't miss out on the marinated short rib, it's juicy and flavorful. The restaurant looks like it used to be a house but the interior and exterior is very upscale and Korean-themed. Our server, Jaden, was very attentive and cooked our meat very well. Great service!

We've always been fans of the Bori Spring Branch location, so we are excited to finally check out the new Montrose location. Since we came on a weekday, parking was easy in their lot and surrounding streets (although other reviews mentioned the lot becomes valet only during busier times). We were seated on the first floor, not sure if this location has an art gallery or not. The menu is identical to the Spring Branch location, same with the complementary banchan. We ordered the usual seafood pancake, the small butcher's feast, and tried out marinated crabs and beef carpaccio. The seafood pancake was excellent, the marinated crabs were flavorful and fresh, the beef carpaccio on the other hand was disappointing. Our server grilled the meat diligently, but overall service was hit-or-miss. The dining room layout made for a noisy experience, conversations from nearby tables carried easily and were quite distracting. Overall the food remains consistent, but the Spring Branch location is still better in my opinion.

We visit the Spring Branch of BORI as the go to higher end KBBQ spot often so it's nice that they opened a location closer inside the loop. Located near Montrose, parking is available in their interior lot or street parking. This location is also a house like structure but is missing the art museum. Service is fine but not great, definitely a step below their OG location. The staff seems new-ish and are definitely a bit below the pace. The food is solid; we got the seafood pancake, raw crabs, and beef carpaccio for apps; the beef carpaccio was not good, at a 2/5. The seafood pancake is a solid 5/5 as always and the raw crab was well marinated and tasted fresh; the number in the very small portion size of the dish; 4/5. For the meats, we got the smaller butcher's feast combo with an extra side of beef tongue. The meats are decent quality and the pork jowl was especially textured. Overall, a solid spot and a newer interior is a more posh area of town. I think their OG location still has its charms and higher level of service compared to this one.

Not worth at all. The price was pretty expensive for the AMOUNT of meat that comes in each portion. Was told that the small would feed 2 people but that would honestly only feed one person and this is from someone who doesn't even eat that much... Been to other Kbbq where they do the same style of cooking for you and this is BY FAR the worst out of them. Meat was also extremely bland... Other then the food the interior was super cute but don't come here for the food if your hungry

I've eaten Korean food all over the globe to include in Korea.... And would definitely come back to Bori. The ambience, quality, taste of food was very, very good. The restaurant is on the higher-end scale -- more traditional and where you want to go for a memorable evening. If you're looking for an all you can eat and don't care as much about the ambience than this may not be the place for you. The service was great, the food was quality and traditional. Again, would absolutely come back.

Another excellent choice by my friend for our monthly dinners! He never ever gets it wrong lol. He made reservations for us so when we arrived our table was ready. Our eyes definitely were bigger than our bellies because we ordered sooo much food! Everything was a hit! Located in Montrose on a quiet street. Small lot, Street parking and valet available. The establishment is a house converted into the restaurant and it's really nice. Our waiter Sang was the best. Definitely one of the better Korean Steakhouses in Houston! Items we ordered. I might have missed a few things. But everything was a 10/10 Beverages Strawberry Moon Mocktail Lychee Martini Sprite Dr. Pepper Food Japache Fried Korean dumplings Bulgogi tteokbokki Bori beef cuts (L) Bulgogi Kimchi stew Corn cheese 10/10 Steamed egg

My boyfriend and I love BORI! We have been to both Spring Branch and Montrose locations, and it never disappoints. The building is beautiful and has such an upscale feel. Additionally, the service is always amazing. We came once on New Year's and got served complimentary tteokguk! We typically order the small bori beef cuts set which is the perfect amount for 2 people. Overall, the meats are all high quality and taste great. Beef belly (5/5)- Classic, staple, hard to go wrong with. Soy ginger NY strip/ NY strip (4/5) - A bit tougher to chew but great flavor Marinated boneless short rib/ Seasoned boneless short rib (5/5)- My personal favorite! The meat is much fattier, and the flavor is rich. The sets come with cheese corn, kimchi stew, and steamed egg, which are nice additions. Banchans had a good variety, and the salad is refreshing. They all pair well with the meat!

Bori owns my heart (and my belly) Been a super fan of the original location but this one is closer and finally decided to try it on a weekday evening to celebrate my bestie. It's nestled in a nice subdivision and the restaurant is really pretty inside and outside. There is a small lot behind the building with an extended lot as well as street parking. Its two floors and dining area was a bit smaller and cozier than the original location. We had a wonderful server who was extremely knowledgeable and gave great suggestions. There are some items only available at the Montrose location. We ordered the small beef cuts set (small), japchae, and fried chilli eggplant. Beef cut set - beef belly, ribeye, marinated boneless spare ribs (5/5)- the beef was amazing quality and well cooked - they cook it to your liking, the spare ribs were marinated perfectly and so tender Corn cheese (comes with beef set) 4/5 - corn and cheese - who doesn't love it? Kimchi stew (comes with beef set 4/5 - there is a 2nd option - soy bean paste stew) - spicy but not overpowering and goes perfect with the rice Banchans - tons of Banchans and they were all good - I am obsessed with the pink radish as well as their salads (honestly it was all good) Japchae (5/5) - it's one of my fave things, the noodles are perfectly cooked and the seasoning is not overpowering, and it's light Fried chili eggplant (4/5) - only at Montrose - suggested by server and it was good - crunchy on the outside but tender on the inside, it wasn't spicy to us but it was still flavorful Hotteok ice cream (5/5) - only at Montrose - this was complimentary for bestie's birthday and it was sooooooo good, the server suggested vanilla ice cream and it paired so well - I can't explain it but everyone should try it yum It was a great meal and great company. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. Def will be back esp since it's so close

Line was organized and had available water for the heat. Servers out to offer beer and water and to pass out menus and explain the process of how this place works. Servers inside were constantly cleaning tables and available to get to go boxes and lids if needed. The meat was literally fall off the bone tender and juicy. Everything was Smokey and flavored wonderfully. My number one: the Mac and cheese! I dont know something about an amazing side took me away. Most places can't do a mac the way i like it, but the cheese stayed moist and creamy and the noodles were tender. the flavor was phenomenal. all of the meats were tender and fall off the bone and juicy. I have no complaints About any bite I took! Other than maybe taking too many bites XD. Would absolutely recommend if your visiting the area or live near by, go get some excellent barbecue.

The only thing I wouldn't recommend was this French-style side (it looked like a giant turd ). It was a 0/10 for me. I took one bite and couldn't eat the rest. The peach cobbler was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really wow me compared to everything else. Overall, the food was incredible, especially the brisket. I'll definitely be coming back. 10/10, highly recommend!

I'm sure there's a good reason for that but I've wanted to try it multiple times before but they've been closed! I ended up going with the infamous brisket and fried rice. The brisket was super tender - I was able to pull it apart with my fork. I typically shy away from brisket because usually it's tough. But this was delicious - tender and had a nice smoky flavor. Not overwhelming or too salty. The rice had a great flavor too. There were chunks of meat in that as well and the rice had a nice smoky flavor. Not too salty or greasy. It also came with some accoutrements - pickled onions, fresh pickled cucumbers, jalapeños, bbq sauce and bread. The cucumbers and onions stole the show - very fresh and refreshing. We were surprised at the pickled onions - they were soo good! Overall - worth the hype! I'll definitely be back to try ribs, chicken or pulled pork sandwich. I heard everything is good here!!

To my surprise; fried rice was filled with extra brisket and chinese sausage! The pickle Jalapeño's were very tasty. Perhaps both the pickles and pickled Jalapeños are made in house. Only gripe that deducted a star would be the sitting arrangement. I mean there is only a handful of chairs available inside. They do have a spacious outdoor patio; but being almost 100 degrees outside it was not worth my sweat dripping down to the brisket making it saltier. Almost have to wait around and time it, until the next freed up seating is available. Don't recommend to bring young kids or large groups. If I was an angel investor, my money would go to them to expand to a larger location! Pains me to see large chain restaurants be able to afford such a large buildings and serve mediocre food. Eh hemmm.. Spring Creek Barbecue. Support local; Support H-town! Overall definitely worth a try!

You can ask to see the piece of rib before they cut it for you and they will happily oblige (patrons behind you might not be so thrilled with that move, but they'll live). Sides were excellent as were the mashed potatoes with white gravy on the side, green beans that were just tender enough, but also a bit crunchy. Perfect. They were seasoned with pork, so if that's not your thing, you might want to skip it. We also ordered their shareable onion rings, easily enough for three people that were huge, hot, and crispy. Let's get this out of the way, some of their prices are a little up there, but if you're anything like me, and don't frequent BBQ places often, it's a rare but enjoyable treat. Sometimes you have to splurge and live a little. Also, they have their regular sauce on tables, but you now have to ask the cashier for their sublime coffee BBQ sauce. Don't be shy, ask. It's worth it. Oh, pro tip: If you want beef ribs, the 'plate' is actually cheaper and a better deal than 'by the pound', so save a little money and get two sides.

The restaurant is cute and they do their best to keep the service consistent throughout the entire visit. The BBQ was a little dry but good. The disappointing part of the trip were the sides. 95% of the sides had pork in them which made the entire wait not worth it. This was my first time visiting and it will be my last.

The counter service keeps things moving while the food speaks for itself. The brisket was exactly what you'd hope for: a pronounced bark, a rendered fat cap, and slices that held together until they were pulled apart. The surprise for me was the brisket taco. Instead of feeling like a gimmick, it showcased the meat in a different way, balancing smoke, richness, and fresh toppings without masking the brisket. Good barbecue restaurants know their sides matter just as much as the meat. The mac and cheese was creamy, the sausage had a satisfying snap, and the house barbecue sauce complemented rather than covered the smoke. If you're visiting Houston, this is the kind of place that reminds you why Texas barbecue has earned its reputation. Efficient counter service, excellent brisket, and enough menu variety to keep you coming back.

I had been craving BBQ for a couple weeks and decided to give the pit room a try. My husband had…read morebeen here before for work and he enjoyed it so I decided to try! The environment is super cool, plenty of seating, a bar, private rooms, a dessert bar. I enjoyed the atmosphere, but the workers spoke Spanish to each other the whole time until it was time to check out, so there wasn't much engagement. Which lead to a mix up of my order that we had to fix. What we are all here for, the FOOD: Chicken: Very juicy, tender, basic chicken, a great portion. I was grossed out by the amount of blood under the skin. (I KNOW it's an animal with blood but I've never had bbq with that amount of blood on the meat) but I'm not penalizing them for it. Def 7/10! Brisket: Super tender, melted in the mouth, great taste. 8/10 Green beans: Not greasy, tender (not mushy or undercooked). I think they may have spilled the seasoning into the batch they main because holy moly, a TON of pepper and salt. I'm heavy handed with my seasonings but that amount didn't seem intentional. I'd never thought I'd say this but the flavor would've been great with less seasoning. 5/10 Mac&cheese: Nothing special but definitely better than most bbq spots. I enjoy the texture and light flavor 7/10 Elote: Yummy but where's the beloved cilantro?! 8/10 Cornbread: Great flavor, not dry, and had jalapeno peppers in it! Super yummy 9/10. My only thing too, they had only 2 bbq sauce options, a bourbon coffee and their house bbq. To me, they were not good at all. I was extremely disappointed in that. Other bbq spots have like 8 different bbq sauces
