USED to be a great place for golumpki (stuffed cabbage). I bought 8 today. The cabbage was old and dried out, the pork(?)filling was like sawdust with undercooked Uncle Ben's Converted rice. The sauce was straight out of a can, thin, more like bad tomato juice. The price of $12 a pound was bad enough, but for food that at best is borderline is a total ripoff. When I called to tell the store about the problem, A curt thank you and a hang up click before I finished my sentence was the response. If you're going for golumpkis DON'T. Such a shame. read more

Great little off the beaten path deli. They make their food fresh daily and never mix yesterdays food with what they made today. Golumpki wasn't my favorite, but everyone makes it different. Cucumber salad was fantastic and they get their bread in fresh from the bakery daily. Portions are huge, staff is friendly. read more

BBA used to be run by two absolutely dedicated Polish ladies and a daughter to one of them. The quality was high, the service was brisk, they carried difficult-to-find preserved meats, and the prices were reasonable. My last three visits after the change of ownership were disappointments: The service was surly, the selection was reduced, and the prices had jumped considerably. I plan to give them one more try this week with a very large order, but if there has not be a substantial improvement, I won't be giving them another opportunity to serve me. They need to understand that 80% of the meats they sell are readily available elsewhere, so it is the 20% that makes visiting them an asset. I want them to succeed, but they need to understand that the strengths of their previous business model, and where their current practice fall short of their historical roots. read more

It is sad but true: New ownership has changed the place. They've cut back on specialties (no more curry ketchup!) and the fabled pork chop grinder (you could get two meals out of a small one for $5) has nearly doubled in price. I first found the place when living in South Deerfield. I moved to Northampton, and an occasional indulgence was to drive up to BBA. I'm afraid I've made my last visit. read more

This is one of those off the beaten path finds that are only possible with yelp or if you're lucky enough to ask the right local. The subs/grinders here are huge and everyone raved about the roast beef. I tried the sausage and peppers, which was solid but my wife had the roasted pork, which made me wish I had ordered that. The rim of pork fat was perfectly seasoned, if not slightly salty for some. If I lived in the area, I would go here until I tried almost everything. This is a fantastic neighborhood type polish deli located on a residential street in South Deerfield. I must say it's a jem. The food is virtually all home made. Golumpki, perogi, polish pork chops, potato salad, chicken parm.....you get the idea. Home style food made by great people at a very reasonable price. The grinders are amazing. Meat counter is filled with several varieties of kielbasa and imported hams - let them know how you are going to use it and they will give you advice on which one to purchase. Once you know how to get to this place, you'll come back again and again. Just a short distance off 91 and route 5, this market is located on a residential street. It's built into the front of a house. Hands down my favorite thing at BBA is the pork chop grinder. One of my favorite grinders on the planet. There are a number of Polish specialties on the aisles here. Pickles, mustards, jars of all kinds of items that you don't see every day. One of my favorites is the sauerkraut stuffed yellow peppers. They come in a giant glass jar for about $10. GET THEM. In the meat case there is a wide variety of deli meats and salads. Kielbasa and pierogies made in house. Babka's, rye breads, and pastries. What's not to love. The staff is very helpful in answering any questions, including cooking suggestions. read more

I drove past the sign for this place several times before finally checking it out. I'm sure glad I did! What a gem. I got a pastrami grinder, and it was sandwich perfection. Plenty of pastrami, tasty mustard, and just the right amount of lettuce and cheese on a delicious freshly-baked roll. A foot-long was only $4.95. Such a bargain. They have an assortment of hot and cold grinders, as well as pieroshki, meat cutlets, and other entrees to buy by the pound. They also have, of course, polish sausage and other deli meats, and freshly-baked polish pastries. In addition to the deli and bakery items, they have a selection of polish canned goods and drinks, as well as many different varieties of mustard. I will definitely be back! read more

As with the Monarch, this was a place we stopped at for a meal while in town for a wedding. If you're not from the area I can see where it is tough to find, as the place is tucked in on a side road. It's also a convenience store which happens to have a deli and prepared food counter inside. The sandwiches were excellent, and the food is better quality than you'll find at most delis. I tried both the chicken cutlet and pork cutlet, and both were done very well. The breading on each did not overwhelm the taste of the meat, and the meat was tender. I find a lot with pork cutlets that people will overcook the pork, but that was not the case here. The market also had an assortment of other prepared foods, like pierogi and polish sausage, which I did not try. If you want lunch in the area, I would highly recommend this deli. read more

This place is wicked authentic polish small town western mass. It made me smile just walking in, it reminds me of pekarskis a little bit. They have like 5 kinds of kielbasa and it's all really good. Got a 12" roast beef grinder, 8" turkey grinder and a 6" taste of the extra smoked kielbasa. Total was $11 !Grinders are simple made and classic style don't expect frills though. I wish I got the roast pork I've seen it mentioned in a few reviews ! They had pierogi too which I would love to try. read more

This is the best place to buy a sub in The Pioneer Valley. The prices and food are great! Get there before early because the people are never excited to make a sub 10 minutes before close. I always try to schedule a stop at the BBA Deli when working in that area for a take out lunch, or to simply bring home their smoked and extra garlic infused kielbasa. All their offerings are fresh, delicious and cheaper than everywhere else. My son and I have a fondness for their chicken fingers. It has a unique peppery and very crisp batter. EVERY single item is delish! I work down the road and I can tell you without hesitation that when I know time will be tight for a homecookked meal this is the ONLY place I will pick up food on the way home! The food is delicious, the prices are incredibly reasonable and portions are perfect to large! I can stop here and buy REAL chicken tenders.... not processed crap for my kiddos and they love it. Whenever I travel, I always use Yelp to seek out good local delis. About 80% of the time I am disappointed. I keep doing it though, because those 20% are well worth all the disappointments. This deli is one of those 20%. Small, a tad run down, but authentic, cheap, and fantastic. The grinders have a ton of meat on fresh bread and are big enough for two meals. I had the pastrami and the meat went straight from the slicer to my sandwich. The brown mustard was spicy and delicious and when I bit into it, I felt like I was in NYC.
