    Wow this milk
    Wally P.

We stopped by here on a cold November day to warm our fingers and feet. Once we stepped in, the smell of coffee permeated and the warm table area seemed inviting. We understood this used to be where locals would sell their milk, so of course we had to try some. Being lactose intolerant I was a little weary of the after-effects. However the smooth rich taste of the fresh milk was like nothing I've ever experienced, it actually helped soothe my stomach, and I had no common side-effects. Yes, the prices here are high, but the goods are high quality, and these are local products that are hard to find. The Old Creamery is definitely a place worth checking out for us tourists. Made our trip to Western MA memorable.

The Old Creamery is more than ice cream, it is the best little secret sandwich shop in the hilltown, Ma area. If you are familiar with the Vermont Country Store, you know that there are lots of homemade side dishes, both hot and cold, a beautiful large deli, and lots of homemade desserts. This is what the store offers too. There is a little grocery so every type of drink or other side snack or amenity that you could want is also here. I think surprised isn't understatement. When I walked in and saw that vegetarian and gluten free options at the deli, I am most died and went to heaven. I had some delicious unique thing with mushrooms that I can't even remember because I devoured it so quick. I think I was supposed to share it with somebody and can clearly remember they're shocked look on their face when he saw me take the last bite. I would take this side note to thank my boyfriend who ran out into the streets to rescue a binder full of their order sheets that had escaped someone's hands. ;) It was a little bit like watching Frogger while sitting out at a picnic table. I would highly recommend this to anybody in the area. Correction, make it a point to go to this shop, because nobody really comes by this neck of the woods unless something calls you to it:-)

The people were friendly and pleasant Terrific corned beef hash in particular. But my bill came to $28 with no tax in a place where you go order, get your silverware, pour your own coffee, bus your table, so not full serve. Not that it's an issue at all, but I wanted to give an accurate description. So why 3 stars? Maybe it's me. Maybe I'm just a crotchety almost old man, but $28 seems to be exorbitant without tip. If I'm wrong then It should be four stars.

Hash was homemade and outstanding! Extra crispy and flavorful. Biscuits were homemade buttermilk and about as good as homemade buttermilk biscuits can get. My husband had coffee which he said was very good (which is high praise from him). I had a small hot chocolate. Do yourself a favor, if you get the hot chocolate, make it a large. Hands down the best I've ever tasted. Light, frothy and Ghirardelli chocolate, need I say more? We saw the pancakes and they are dinner plate sized. The place is unassuming and comfortable, games to play at your table to keep the kids busy. Local artwork for sale. The owner was at the register and he shared the story of how the place came to be. Ask if you meet him, pretty cool and I'm glad they survived their first year. You order at the register and they bring the food to your table. Def stop if you are in the area. We love supporting small business.

Between the apple cider rye waffle with a luxurious smear of butter topped with flaky salt and real maple syrup close at hand, fresh and flavorful sausage patty, and home fries topped with their green jalapeño hot sauce, I ended my meal satisfied. Good quality ingredients shine, and the waffle and sausage in particular were a testament to that. My partner gave the brewed coffee a thumbs up as well. Parking was at capacity when we arrived around 11am on a Sunday but it wasn't long before a spot opened up. Once inside, we were able to be seated right away. The mood was chill and staff working both capable and laid back. There wasn't any rush and plenty of space to soak up the morning. The artwork in the bathroom and predominantly native plantings along the rear parking strip, which were replete with visiting butterflies were icing on the cake.

We ended up finding both at Baked. When we walked in, we saw a few big bakery cases filled with pastries, muffins, and all sorts of baked goods. A little further into the space, we saw a reception stand for their full service, sit-down restaurant. We just wanted a beverage and a bakery treat, so that meant we couldn't sit in the restaurant, but luckily, we grabbed the only table in front of the bakery cases. It was quite a chore narrowing down our order from their many drinks and baked goods, but eventually we decided on a Cold Vanilla Blueberry Latte ($6), a Hot Banana Bread Latte ($5), a Macaroon ($3.75), and an Orange Cranberry Scone ($4). The cold latte and scone were mine and I enjoyed both a lot. The latte had great blueberry flavor and the scone was fantastic. We shared the baked treats, and the macaroon was great too, with plenty of chocolate chips, and a freshly made gooey consistency. We both noted how fresh everything was. All in all, their quality, prices and value were excellent. Well done, Baked... we loved our visit.
