Signed up for this after doing a Google search for a local basketball class and am so happy we did. My two boys love it and are excited to go to class every week. The coaches are great and the gym is awesome. Even on the day we were outside, the outdoor courts are beautiful as well at Newcombe Academy. They do a great job overall. Always have sessions on a monthly basis and coaches can be tough on them which is good. My kid is 7 and have gone a few sessions and learned good dribbling skills. Dribbling skills are probably half the class. Only thing I would like to see is to have more teachings on "team basketball" and to teach the young kids how to play the game in a real game scenario. But overall do a great job. I would recommend them. read more

I just started my 5 year old son here to learn basketball and I have to say I was very pleased with the coaches and the positive environment! My son was hesistant to start basketball but once he went he LOVED IT! The coaches are great, they have patience and guide the kids in the right direction. Play basketball class for beginners my son loves it. No pressure environment and a great atmosphere to learn.

As soon as my son turned three we signed him up! He's super excited all week long and looks forward to "hoop" school. We are on our second session and will be going into a third. We really appreciate how patient the coaches are, how they provide positive and encouraging feedback and make every effort to focus on each individual child to help with drills. My 5 year old son didn't really show interest in any sport or activity we have put him in. We were searching for something for our soon to be involved in. We saw the B Ballers Hoop school through Long Beach park and recreation. It was heaven sent because our son hadn't shown a high interest in anything. We had our first day today, and saw things in our son that he had never shown before, fun and excitement about playing basketball. The activities and drills were age appropriate with inviting parent involvement in the drills. Our son was showing frustration with one drill, but the coach cane over to give a 10 second encouragement with demonstration. My son frustration turned into determination for success. So happy I found this camp and by far the best! Our second bball camp and coach Greg and his staff are nothing from what we experienced from our first. They're amazing at what they do and super hands on with the kids. My boys (12 and 5) are getting better each time they leave here. Thank you! My little one Remi recently started with Bballers and she loves with it! Coach Greg is exceptional with the kids. I played college basketball and see coach Greg teaching the kids great fundamentals, while making it fun for the little ones at the same time. This is a great place for your child to build their skills! The coaches definitely make sure they take time to help each kid develop. My daughter has been taking classes for 2 months and her game has improved ten fold. This is my first time bringing all 4 of my boys to the bball clinic, and I might say that so far it has been a great experience for my children. Our first class was today, and the children loved it. Coach Greg and the other staff was very hands on and supportive. The energy was great, and very professional. Coach Greg even involved the parents in assisting our children in exercises. I absolutely love Coach Greg and Coach D. I've tried lots of sports and extracurricular activities for my four year old daughter and had no luck! From day one she felt welcomed and supported in the basketball clinics. She is gradually strengthening her dexterity and you can see improvement week after week. This is a great class! I had my 5 year old in another park and rec class in Downey a couple of months ago and it was not even close to the quality of this program. Coach Greg and Coach Demetra really know how to talk to the little ones and their strategies are amazing. They are always energetic and keep the kids engaged. My daughter has been going to Greg's camp since day one. Incredible environment that teaches the kids the important nuances of basketball. Greg and his team are great motivators and leaders. While they do make the camp fun, they also instill hard word and challenge the kids to go beyond their own perceived limitations.
