Be careful what you tip them. They want more. I went in yesterday 12/23 to pick up a order that I called the day before and placed but it wasn't ready at the the specified time. I had to wait about 20 min for them to make it. No big deal. But when the guy (I believe his name is Scotty or Scott) brought the food to the front for the girl to bag he says "all this work and that's all the tip?!" Very rude. I think she was even embarrassed and said "well it's to go". First, I didn't know a tip was required and 2. I thought they should be grateful of any tip given. I drove 35 min because we like their food but when I showed up my food wasn't even ready. I had to put all the sauces in a container, napkins, forks, wipes, etc. myself. Which is no big deal but then to hear the guy make that remark I thought was completely rude for an employee to make. Sorry you had to go out of your way make my sandwiches which is what your place does. Sorry that my tip didn't mean anything and you wanted more. I think we will look for a new bbq place closer to home. I won't travel to get this kind of treatment. read more

Very unexpected great BBQed meats and food in general. I got the pulled pork regular sandwich on regular bread. The bbq sauce was amazing! It had the perfect combo of ketchup (sweet) with some nice kick. The bread the sandwich came on was perfectly light and toasty/Crispy. Now for the main event, the smoked pulled pork had great flavor and was smoked properly. Once I got over the unappealing exterior and interior, the food itself was great. read more

I booked a company lunch for 55 people. Simple and easy booking process. They called me to confirm pickup this morning prior to the event. Pick up was smooth. Simply excellent food. The bread was delicious! I'm not a big meat eater, but I got a chicken sandwich. I thought the sandwich was a little one note and overwhelmed by the barbecue sauce - although it was good, it would have been better with lettuce, tomato, some other sort of flavor and texture going on. Some of the better smoked BBQ we've had. Other Yelp reviews steered us to Barbeque 152 and we're very glad they did. My young son truly enjoyed his 1 meat plate - 3 meaty St. Louis style pork ribs, seasoned and smoked. I had the two meat plate of chicken and tri-tip. The server asked my preference for dark or white meat - no price difference. I received the requested thigh and leg quarter chicken that was very flavorful and moist - no dry meat. My slices of tri-tip were also moist and well smoked. Too often smoked Tri-tip is dry. Not this meat. The house barbeque sauce is served on the side with the plates and is one of the best I have tasted. Sweet, smoky, very slight kick. My side of cole slaw was okay - a bit too sweet and plain for my taste. Garlic bread used a nice bread - their sandwich rolls, but there was not much garic flavor. Decor is nothing exciting, but the food quality is high. We will be back when we're in the area. read more

service was a glowing 5 and food a decent 4. before reading on, you should know that this place does not drench their meat in bbq sauce. for me that is a plus. if you are someone who LIKES a lot of sauce, not to worry, they have bottles on the table for you to use your meat as a vehicle for eating sauce. that said... my friend and i both ordered the two meat plate. between the two of us we tried out the pork ribs, pulled pork, and "fatty" cut of the tri-tip. ribs were very juicy and tender. they weren't fall off the bone tender, but i don't mind getting my hands a little dirty and gnawing off the bone. pulled pork was also very moist. unlike most places they don't drown their meat in bbq sauce. instead they have a vinegar/spice dip that went quite well with the meat. the only let down was the tri-tip. despite requesting the "fatty" cut, the meat was still on the lean side and not particularly flavorful. the coleslaw and bread were both pretty standard. final note: for those who enjoy beer, they have a great selection on tap. if i were back down in gilroy i would definitely come back for their happy hour to have $2 sliders and 1/2 off beers on tap! read more

We decided to this place out after driving by a couple times. I had the pulled pork sandwich on regular bread and my bf had the smoked rib sandwich on a large garlic bread. Pulled pork was a little dry but still very good. The rib sandwich was very good as well! Sauces are great and service was friendly. Prices are not that bad either. Will be back! read more

Meat is good here, not the best I've had but not the worst either. Portions are a bit small, so if your hungry go with the 2 or 3 meat plates. The sides are not all that great, the beans which I've tried a few different times were bland each time. Garlic bread was good, probably my favorite side dish! Delicious bbq: not slathered in sauce to hide the taste but slow cooked beef, pork and chicken. An assortment of microbrewed beers on tap and bottled. I recommend going out of your way to visit this place, I have plans to do this next time I'm near Gilroy. read more

We stopped here on our drive up north after seeing such good reviews. It did not disappoint! The pulled chicken sandwiches were perfectly cooked and the bread was delicious! They have different size sandwiches and be warned that they are all good sized! The slider size was perfect for the kids. Tri-tip sandwich was excellent as well. And I can't forget to mention how friendly everyone was who worked there. I would stop there again next time I'm in Gilroy! Since we are new to town, we thought supporting a local, non-chain restaurant was the way to go. Sunday night seems to be the wrong day to go. It's hard to judge the food, given that all they had available was chicken... The chicken was meh, sides were far from spectacular, the slaw's dressing was watered down. The salad was some lettuce with sets of one random vegetable. I don't know what all the reviews and raves are about. Service sucked, the fact that they greeted us with "all we have is chicken" was bad for business and the unkind wait staff killed it for me. Management should take note of inventory to keep all options available and check with the wait staff to learn how to make a friendly sale rather than slap the "we only have..." In your face. The cashier was unfriendly and impatient when I had to explain the one option to my non-English speaking father. It just was not a good experience, I doubt we will be back... I just finished a bbq chicken salad and garlic bread and wow. So good. The salad had everything I love in it. The candied pecans tasted homemade and I would love to eat a whole jar of them if I could. The salad is super delicious with bbq sauce and ranch dressing mixed on it. The garlic bread was soft and fluffy and great. It reminded me of Little Ceasar's Crazy Bread which is god-tier tasty always. Definitely can't wait to come back and try the sammiches! read more

This place is borderline five star. Just missed on one thing. Very good smokey flavor ribs. Fall off bone good, great home bbq sauce. Two flavors. Good fresh crisp cole slaw. Beans came up short. The pulled pork sandwich made a perfect dinner- you can get it in 3 sizes, slider, medium and large- the medium was just right. They cook the pork briefly in the bbq sauce if you wish, and they let me try different spicy levels to determine which level I preferred. Not sure how this place got a five star raving review. I had the rib meat plate. 3 small ribs, half piece of garlic bread and a small container of mushy cole slaw for $10.. Ribs were so tough I couldn't eat them. My boyfriend had a tri top sandwich. Meat was tough and barely chewable. Will not be coming back. read more

Saved this place for a Friday lunch since they only have brisket on Fridays and Saturdays. I got a medium sized brisket sandwich with no sides and regular bbq sauce. The sandwich came out quick, and I was surprised to learn that the bun was garlic bread. The meat was really tender but it lacked any real flavor, even with the bbq sauce. I really wanted to like it based on reviews, but it's just not meant to be. The sandwich alone was more than enough to fill me up, but the lack of any discernible flavor in the meat keeps me from rating this place anything higher than a 3. If I ended up in Gilroy again and someone really wanted to go here, I'd go along, but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

I got a small order of bbq ribs with chili beans and potato salad and a piece of bread. I have to say I was disappointed because my ribs were so hard and burnt that I couldn't take the meat off the bones lol I laugh because I was trying so hard that one piece flew to my toddlers face ‍. However, my husband had brisket and something else which I have to say it was delicious. It did take a while to get our food; maybe a good 25 minutes. The place was packed and it seemed they may had possibly one person making food in the back so the timing was understandable. I would of returned the ribs back and order something else, But I honestly didn't want to wait again. They do have a good selection of wine and beer though. The bread that came with my meal was super delicious. Maybe I'll go back again if I'm in town but this time I will tell them to easy off on the ribs. read more
