My family LOVES BBQ 152. We love everything there besides how the chicken is cooked (I'll explain). Definitely HIGHLY Recommend you get yourself a BIG MAC & CHEESE and their Garlic bread! We are in the Garlic Capitol (Gilroy) and you've got to be crazy not to try it. Our favorite meat there is always and will forever be the RIBS! Always perfect! I've never been a fan of coleslaw but my husband likes their coleslaw. It never fails, we always order more than we can even eat in one sitting and end up with so much left overs we eat it again the next day, YUM! Only downfall always is the chicken because the bone is still red/pink and every time we ask them to cook the chicken all the way through they say it IS COOKED. Um, I think not. We don't even try to eat it before we get sick. So we always just take the chicken home and throw it back in the oven for another 30min or until it's cooked cause it is still bomb! Y'all need to head in to BBQ 152...These folks are putting out some real smoked BBQ. I have had some delicious BBQ in Dallas and Abeline Texas and this place is on the map for some of the best!!!! Ok let start by saying go early. They tend to run out of the most popular meats very quickly early on in the day; for dinner by 5 PM expect them to be out of certain meats. Inside the restaurant it's cozy it appears to seat close to 30 people. There are tables and chairs but can easily get filled up quickly. They have a bar and a good variety of meat. I got the chicken meal with two sides. The chicken was absolutely delicious and very flavorful and moist. My biggest complaint and the reason for three stars are the sides were not very good. With my meal I got Coleslaw and their beans it also came with a slice of garlic bread. The coleslaw did not have much flavor to it, the beans were spicy and did not have the best type of flavor, and the garlic bread was very bland. The best tasting side on the menu that I tried was the potato salad. The potato salad was flavorful moist and I had just the right amount of seasoning. If you are coming here just for the meat you will not be disappointed. Just don't expect much from the sides. read more

It was last last-minute thing for us for my grandchildren's birthday celebration, and they did it! Exceeded my expectations; and our guests loved everything. Pretty disappointing overall. A group of 10 of us decided to try this place for dinner. We had just came from a long wedding rehearsal in the area and saw this pop up on Yelp. Upon arriving, there was a sign at the counter basically stating that ribs, chicken, bread, pulled pork were all sold out- essentially almost the entire menu. We ended up ordering what was available. Small portions of meat (couldn't believe my plate was 1lb as a "large"). Looked like less than a .5 pound. Sides were ok, but again very small. Nearly $50 for three "regular" meals. I would probably not come back. Hit or miss availability and to add further insult, the girl at the counter asked me to clear the tables of another guest and directed me to the trash. This place has all of the elements to be marvelous. I usually judge a BBQ place by its brisket since pork is much more forgiving, but they were out. So ribs were the stand-in. A bit over-cooked, but Californians seem to like them that way, and 152 kept it closer to right than most places. Chicken was also good, maybe a bit light on the smoke. The sides are solid except the bread. The people are great and the prices are a value. We will be back earlier in the day, perhaps when they have live music. read more

Even with everything going on right now their customers service is amazing. We picked up some food for my boyfriends birthday and they threw in a pie and wrote happy Birthday on the box!! How awesome is that?!?! We had no idea and when we got home and opened the bag his face just lit up. It's people like this that gives us hope and keeps us supporting local businesses. BBQ 152 catered my wedding in April in Hollister on my family's property. Christine was so helpful in working with me with the ever changing Santa Clara County regulations on gatherings. She kept in communication with me and discussed my options as it got closer to the wedding day. We were able to have BBQ 152 come to my parents' property and bring the buffet setup but unfortunately could not do any service as a result of the COVID event policy in place at that time. Honestly it did not make any difference as the food and professionalism were so great! The set up for the buffet was beautiful with professional wooden chafers that matched my theme. Food was labeled clearly with nice signs that they provided. The food arrived during the cocktail hour and was set up and ready to go in time for dinner. The wedding venue was a little off the beaten path and they worked with me to ensure they arrived on time and had no issues finding it. Other vendors refused to go out there so I appreciated their willingness. The food stayed warm through the dinner and was replenished as needed. Their BBQ is amazing! As one of many BBQ places in the area owned by the same family (Mission Street, Winchester BBQ, etc.) their bbq offerings were enjoyed by all. We had brisket, chicken, pork ribs, and vegan sausages. Their sides were the perfect complement to the meat with berry blue salad, coleslaw, pasta salad and rolls. Christine did a stellar job of helping me determine how much food to have for my wedding size, there were some leftovers but not an obscene amount. Everyone got plenty of food. Originally we were to have 80 people but with COVID, downsized to 56. I was impressed with the price that BBQ 152 charged for the whole event, a lot less than others. Overall: I would easily go back here to eat, but would be selective of what I order. Details: The atmosphere and decor are really nice. It's a small joint, so it can get pretty packed inside on busy days. They do have outside picnic bench seating, in case it's a nice day. Occasionally, they have blues music performers inside. Very nice touch. The service: The staff doesn't talk very much. No real greeting or welcome when you come in, or friendliness once you get to the counter. Tables were cleaned in timely manner when guests left. The food: The meats are on point!! Awesome smoke flavor and they taste fantastic. I got the chicken and tri tip. As for sides, we got potato salad, coleslaw, beans and cornbread. The only winner for the sides was the potato salad with the best flavor. Was looking forward trying this place out again since we had such a great experience the first time. This time around we ordered take out and was disappointed that it just was not the same. The food was decent, but they forgot to put the BBQ sauce in the to-go containers. When I called to inquire if BBQ sauce was included with their meals, they stated yes. When I let them know that they forgot to add it, the response was so indifferent. I get that we should've checked the containers before we left, but come on it's a BBQ place and the sauce should be an automatic condiment. Good value BBQ place if you are in the area. Garlic Bread - 2/5. Wasn't as warm as I would have liked, and tasted like garlic bread that you'd get at a random grocery store. Sides - 4/5. The cole slaw was creamy with a nice crunch, and the potato salad had the texture of mashed potatoes as opposed to chunky potatoes. Both were flavorful and above average. Tri Tip - 3.5/5. Not the most tender of tri tip, but had a nice smoky flavor and paired well with the sauces available (especially the hot sauce). Pork Ribs - 4/5. Tender enough, and the honey glaze definitely improved the Price - 4/5. We were stuffed at ~20-25 a person, which was a pretty good price given how hungry we were after hiking. Overall - 4/5. I wouldn't go out of my way for this place, but it's a good option for when you are in the area and are craving some BBQ. read more

Some of the best BBQ I've ever had and my family is from Kansas City! We love the rib sandwich with the meat pulled off the bone. We also love the brisket anc pulled pork. Their meat is juicy, tender, super flavorful, and always cooked perfectly. Seasoned just right! They also have awesome sides and a beer selection that just adds to your perfect dinner. Let me start by saying the brisket is for real.... I'll give them that. This is probably the second or third time since moving to Morgan Hill that I've taken the word of the locals down here for restaurant recommendations.... and again, disappointed at best. Along with what I've already outlined about the food this cornbread thing was just weird. It was flat, dense and dry as a bone.... even butter couldn't help this tasteless brick. -strike three Out of the four meals ordered I don't think more than 10 bites of food were taken per dish (I ate my whole portion of brisket in less than ten bites) and absolutely no doggie bags taken home. If it weren't for the garlic bread we would've had to stop at Jack in the crack down the street. At $69 bucks I could've done better myself at home. We stop by here every time we drive to Carmel. We've always loved the food. Last Saturday though we ordered more since we wanted some friends to try. We tried to check everything before heading out but it was all wrapped in foil (which is a good idea) so we didn't open each one. Sadly when we got to our destination, all orders for garlic bread became grilled bread, one of which was burned. We also had chips and a cornbread that was not included as well. It won't stop us from going but we now know to open each one to make sure we got what we ordered, and paid for. read more

I am from Kansas City originally, and love BBQ. I have been searching all over California for KC quality Q and it only took me 22 years to find 152. I had the combo with brisket and ribs. The ribs were great, meaty, good smoke ring, tender. My wife was also blown away by the ribs. While the ribs were good the brisket was outstanding. It was moist, had a great, smoky crust, and melted in my mouth. Neither meat needed sauce, but the sauce was great as well, both the sweet and the heat. Can't wait to get back through Gilroy and get great BBQ again. read more

Stopped here recently after a long day shopping at the nearby outlet shops. We were famished and BBQ and beers sounded awesome! We arrived around 4pm for an early dinner and the place was almost empty, there were only another party of two there. The place is your typical pay at the counter and they will bring you your food when it is ready. We settled on the three item combo, which came with your choice of three of their meats and two sides. We settled on the brisket (which they only have on Fridays and Saturdays), pulled pork and ribs (which came with three), coleslaw, chili (which was more like a cowboy chili), and two pieces of garlic bread. We paired the meal with two pints of beer. I loved the brisket. It was tender and full of flavor. The pulled pork was alright. I think I would have may have liked it in a burger. The ribs were good but the meat wasn't as tender as I was hoping it would be. The garlic bread was good and had a nice garlic flavor. The coleslaw added a nice coolness to the bbq sauce. The chili was a let down for me, all I could taste was chili powder. I liked that it was chunky with some pieces of meat in it but it just didn't pack a punch. The brisket was the saving grace for me. Good thing I came on brisket day! Service was great. The cashier was very helpful and helped us out with the menu as well as gave us samples of beer before we settled on ones that we liked. Overall, the meal was pretty filling for the two of us. So incredibly disappointed with our experience here tonight. We ordered over $200 worth of food to go, and when we got home we were missing half a rack of ribs, brisket, and garlic bread. My husband drove back and was confronted by a rude employee. She insisted that they packed our entire order, and argued with my husband for a solid 5 minutes about him being wrong. Like why would we make the effort to drive back and pick a fight. Incredibly unprofessional and just rude. Will not be retuning. Ok. I am going to be completely honest here. First, the place looks really nice. The property is pretty cool. Very welcoming. Pretty expensive so be prepared for that. You don't get near the food that you should for the cost. The food: tri tip is severely over cooked. It should never be well done. So good! I haven't even left yet but I wanted to start this review before I get in my car so I don't forget. I got the brisket sandwich. My wife got the chicken sandwich. The brisket is worth every penny and maybe more. It was so tender and tasty. Didn't need any sauce, but the sauce was very good too. Spicy sauce has a tiny kick but it doesn't overwhelm the flavor. The sandwich was on a garlic toast. (It is Gilroy after all). Service was prompt and the outdoor space was adequately shaded for my two German Shepherds. Delicious barbecue in Gilroy. Walked in with my group of 5 and 2 babies and we had plenty of space to choose from. You order at the counter and then food is delivered to you in a short time. We all got brisket, some ribs, pulled pork, beans, coleslaw and bread. Everything was amazing. Super tender brisket, and you can ask for a more lean or fatty cut. This is probably the best mom and pop bbq joint I have been to. Their ribs are fall of the bone and so tender. Their potato salad was refreshing. I passed on the cole slaw. Their chili beans were just so so though and the portions were a little bit on the light side if you order just one item. My husband ordered three items and the price was just an incremental increase. The decor is cute with it's clothespin hung bib type curtains on the windows. I just love all the different types of sauces they offer to you. My husband's pulled pork was flavorful and the garlic bread was excellend. Need to go back soon. read more
