Slice of heaven - chocolate cake
Rhea R.

No regrets trying this new place close to my house! I ordered the Bangsilog (fish, egg, and fried rice) -- YUMM! The vinegar added perfection to the mix, bringing all the flavors together. The pastries are on point, especially the chocolate cake -- rich, moist, and not too sweet. Definitely will order again!

So good! Highly recommended!

Excellent crispy pata! The meat was perfect and juicy. It just falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. The skin is so flavorful and crispy. It's one of the best I've ever had! Try their chocolate cake too! It's so moist and dense. Perfect dessert!

Chocolate cake, lechon belly, chicharon bulaklak.

I thought I had already left a review, but I guess I hadn't!…read more I always make a point to stop by this place for takeout because I love their cooking. It's much better than many of the other Filipino restaurants I've tried in the Valley. Their food isn't overly greasy like some other Filipino places, and everything is always fresh and flavorful. The restaurant is also very clean, including the restroom, which I really appreciate. Ed was the one who prepared my order and he was friendly, helpful, and courteous, making the experience even better. So far, I've tried the dinuguan, chicken tinola, egg rolls, adobong pusit, and sinigang, and every dish has been absolutely delicious! The only downside is that they're about 25 miles from me. Otherwise, I'd probably be eating here every day!

Parking and seating were both plentiful, and they had lots of food options! Their food is so good and flavorful -- definitely good quality food! I especially loved the Sinigang -- it was just the right amount of sour! We've had the liempo, the lechon, sinigang, and chicken adobo. The second time we had visited we hoped to try the BBQ, which was there the first time, but it seemed like they didn't have any, so it looks like we'll have to come back again to try it! As someone who knows alot of the dishes there, I think it's easy for me to decide what I want, but I do think it might be helpful to have name cards on the food area or on the glass so those who are newer to Filipino food may at least know the names of the foods they're looking at. I really enjoy the food & will definitely continue to come back here! Who knows, we may have them at our wedding!

I had just finished a short hike at Wilbur Tampa Park Trailhead and had built up a solid appetite. I noticed this place on the drive up and made a mental note to try it--and post-hike felt like the perfect time. Kusina Ni Kuya is located right next to Cajun Ni Kuya, and they share the same dining area. The Kusina Ni Kuya side is more of a traditional Filipino *turo-turo* (point-point) setup, where you choose your dishes cafeteria-style. I went with the **beef sinigang**. I was initially planning to order two entrees, but after seeing the generous portion they served, I decided one was plenty. While eating, I noticed trays of Cajun-style seafood boils coming out to nearby tables--interesting to see, even if it's not really my thing. As for the food, the sinigang delivered. The broth had a nice, balanced tang--sour but not overpowering--and it really hit the spot after the hike. Simple, comforting, and satisfying. **Why 4 stars?** Very solid food and portions, but not quite a standout experience that pushes it into that must-go, 5-star category. **Overall:** A reliable spot for Filipino comfort food--especially if you're coming down from a hike and want something warm and filling.

We got there around 4:30 is which was about 30 minutes after they opened and they were still settling in but were able to take our order. Greeted by the friendliest couple, Sherille and Lou (sp?)! They had their kids to watch as well but they managed everything just fine! Food took about 15 minutes after we ordered and we took them home to enjoy! We ordered their special 3 for $8 chicken sisig tacos and the pulled pork adobo tacos. I had to get the piña-mania juice and ended up getting another one for my mom in the end because there was no way I could share mine LOL!! Shoutout to Sherille for also giving us complimentary lumpia and empanaditas for being their first customers of the day!! SUPER crisp, perfect texture, delish!! The star of the show was the Ube Tres Leches for sure! Not too sweet and loved every bite. The tacos in the photos on their menu had sauce on top but when we got home, there was sadly no sauce. We managed and made our own chipotle mayo thing to put on top, otherwise it would've been too dry. Overall the flavors were delicious! Some of the tortillas got a bit hard so maybe it's best to eat while you're there but still enjoyed everything! Looking forward to visiting them again and trying their other menu items! They were kind enough to give me a military discount as well, so be sure to ask them if you can prove your service or first responder ID Can't wait to see them more often!!

Went here last Sunday afternoon- I wanted some Filipino food to-go and I've never been to this…read moreplace. I ordered the chicken inasal - Paa (which is the thigh and leg parts of the chicken). I also ordered Batchoy. I sat on the side and my order probably took about 10+ min so it wasn't a big deal to order and wait. If you decide to dine in- it's a no frills place. I see a lot of groups dining but they only have a few tables. I got home and was pleasantly surprised that the chicken was 2 pieces of the quarter leg. I really liked the chicken, properly marinated and cooked well on the grill. The dipping sauce and calamnsi add more flavor. The batchoy was also good and not salty compared to other places I've been that sell batchoy. Solid place for Bacolod chicken. Just be sure to wrap and secure tour togo order for soup. Some of my soup spilled in the bag.

Wow. As a half Filipino, I've maybe had two places that served decent Filipino food…read more This is one of them and on the higher end of the spectrum. I've only had the lumpia shanghai, veggie lumpia and pancit bihon. The veggie lumpia, could be better, but I'm also spoiled by home cooking with grandparents my entire life, so I have my bias. The pancit bihon (glass noodle) was pretty much the exact style my family makes, perfectly seasoned, excellent ratio of ingredients, wish there was Chinese sausage however. I gobbled up my portion today and had to write a review because of how masarap everything was. The lumpia shanghai was perfect, freshly made, you can tell everything here is prepared on the spot. So don't be a in a rush! I would have given 5 stars but they forgot my shrimp in the pancit today :/ It's ok, I'll be back and maybe grab a tray of lumpia for my kids birthday soon! I look forward to coming back and trying more here. If you're not a Filipino, this is the place to go to where the food will be proper representation of good Filipino food! Also if you don't eat much pork like myself, you can ask for chicken in the pancit instead of pork. I've been here twice on weekdays and there's always people waiting for food, and of course the service is very kind, Filipinos are the best at treating guest

We came to visit the San Fernando Valley, and my aunt was on a mission to find the best hopia with lots of variety -- and wow, did this place deliver. They have all the classic favorites: ube, mongo, baboy, yema, pandan -- and every single one was absolutely delectable. Each piece of hopia feels like it was made with love. The texture is just right, the fillings are generous, and the flavors are rich without being overly sweet. You can truly taste the quality. Their bibingka galapong with cream cheese is another must-try -- warm, creamy, freshly made, and incredibly comforting. It's the kind of treat that makes you close your eyes for a second just to savor it. And then... I saw Jerry coming out with freshly made chicharon -- both with laman and without. Oh boy! I immediately ordered a packet. Crispy, flavorful, and perfect to pair with vegetables or just snack on by itself. The place is clean, well-organized, and they even offer catering. Pricing is very reasonable for the quality you're getting. Plus, they offer website ordering, so you can send hopia and other goodies to family anywhere in the United States. Hopia, bibingka, and chicharon here are definitely a must-try. If you're anywhere near Winnetka, don't miss this spot -- you'll leave happy and probably with a box (or two) in hand!

I say "dependable" because they serve up the typical Filipino favorites, including breakfast combos. You can also order party trays like I have in the past when I needed 150 pcs of lumpiang shanghai quickly. They always have a good selection and really everything tastes good. My usual faves are Bicol Express, any of their Adobos, Menudo, Mongo, Pork Sisig, any of their breakfast combos, Tortang Talong, Lyempo, Kare Kare, and Lechon Kawali. We don't have many options in this neighborhood, so we are fortunate that the one Filipino restaurant we have nearby is actually really good. And they are consistent! Something other Filipino restaurants tend to struggle with is consistency. This is why they are our dependable Filipino restaurant. And I hope they stay forever.
