THIS is my favorite place to eat!! Every trip into this location specifically is as magical as a day at Disneyland. We visited during their 21 years celebration when they had the AYCE lunch for $21. We got there right before they got a huge rush. The sushi chefs are super friendly and efficient in helping those in their section as well as helping those in other seats. Our rolls were decent for Trapper's saucy American style sushi. I'd pass on the "cucumber salad" in the future, it wasn't anything special. The main issue we had was the server who never came back to fill drinks and trying to get her to come back/flag her down so we could pay to leave and get back to work. The sushi was good, but I recommend the Yacht #2 for 2-3 people not 4. However my review is low because of service. As all of our party are experienced servers, there were several basic things lacking about the experience resulting in a very mid and disappointing time the least of which was a hair in the roll on the sushi boat. As a server I don't hold back a 20% tip for bad service, but that said the service sucked and this is our second bad experience here. I walked in ahead of my party to tell the hostess we were a party of four and I knew we were ordering the Yacht #2 with only an hour till close so I wanted the food to be ready as soon as possible and instead of finding a way to meet that simple request (just tell the 1 server on the floor), the hostess rudely said "you can wait till they get here, but I'll go find you a seat", so I went to get my party and we were sat down and waited to get our order taken and by that time it had already been 15 minutes since I was ready to order which then took 30 minutes to be made leaving us with 30 minutes till close to get started while staff started cleaning around us and it felt very rushed which is exactly what I tried to avoid with that easy request. The server didn't set the waters down, instead she handed them to the people at the end and just silently expected them to pass them down. For a huge table that usually happens naturally but for a small table it's lazy and very unprofessional, so of course, the table was not pre-set with utensils or plates when the food arrived even though the place was near empty and there was a half hour to pre-set, and after it arrived she hurriedly set down a pile of plates napkins and chopsticks having clearly forgotten about her one table. Her day was clearly over in her mind and we got the sloppy end of it. Our bill was only 100 for a party of four, but it would've been larger had the service been better and we had a little more time. I'm not the kind of person that goes around looking for mistakes and trying to have a bad time. We were excited to see our friends from out of state which overshadowed the missed beats of service at the time. But we could all tell what was going on and had to just ignore it for the sake of a good time. We all waited tables in Virginia where servers make $2.75/h and rely on tips and the standard of service was way higher, so knowing that they are making $16.28 minimum plus 20% and giving this little effort is honestly insulting. I took my daughter for an early birthday lunch here and suddenly started feeling weird like I was going to faint, the server Courtney noticed and asked if I was okay (I was embarrassed so I said yes even though I wasn't) she said she noticed I was standing at the bar vs sitting so wanted to make sure, then asked again and I told her I was actually feeling light headed and off a bit and after a few questions she immediately discreetly helped me out. (I faint from heat sometimes and even though the restaurant was very cool I was not.) She recognized all of the signs without prompting. She informed her boss, then brought me an Ice Water without being asked, she circled around a few times discreetly asking if "everything was ok or if we needed anything" followed by freezing a wet towel and bringing it for my neck. I am 1000% percent sure she saved me from fainting, getting sick, and injuring myself. No doubt about it. I have never felt so safe in the presence of someone I don't know. On top of all of that she never missed a beat with any customer or table she handled everything while also helping me. It turned from an internally panicky experience to an unbelievably awesome human experience. I wish I could take her with me everywhere or be her friend even. She totally fixed the whole issue. Very satisfied with Thursday lunch date at Trappers in Parkland. This is walking distance from PLU campus and in a nice new location. The employees were very welcoming. We had the most delicious stuffed mushroom appetizer, I forget the name, just order it!! We had three rolls, two of which were a 2 for $16 lunch special. Update! As my prior review notes I had some struggle with Trappers unfortunately this continued into my next visit. However- you will notice I have increased their rating and here is why! Due to my yelp review I was contacted by the social Media person and subsequently the regional manager. She was very polite helpful but most of all interested in hearing how they. Plus improve. She detailed the training she had planned and explained her appreciation of feedback. She asked that I give her a week or two to retrain everyone and if I could return and re-evaluate. So tonight I returned and I must say I noted a huge difference. I had the person with me ask the hostess questions and this time we got honest answers. Also the service and hostess were friendly open and very helpful. I was pleasantly surprised at the improvements! It is very clear to me that they care about their customers experience, they are striving to improve and to provide not only good food but good customer service. I respect this greatly!
