Food: I like that their portions was small so you can get variety and not get too full quickly. Cons: I don't like the pan, it splatters more and oil removal is manual with a tissue. Service: 10/10. Saw this place had a lot of bad reviews after pulling up. Food was good, decent value for AYCE prices. Cooking the meat was a bit different than most KBBQ places I've been to, they use a wok so it pools in the middle with oil/grease from the meats. I cook with woks sometimes so was used to it but something to note as you either use the oil or remove it manually. Service was very good. Two waitresses were very attentive but restaurant wasnt full so cant speak to what could change for that. Generic kpop music playing at a low level for ambiance. Amazing Food, if i lived closer to this place I'd go more often. Service is always friendly and there are large TVs everywhere playing kPop videos while I pop lettuce wrapped pork into my belly! I came here with friends on a Friday evening. It wasn't too packed initially but does get crowded. Tip: if one person that you are with wants to do all you can eat, everyone has to do the same unless everyone votes to do individual meals...or you decide to sit separately. Customer service: It wasn't as busy when we got there but started to get busy as the night went on. The customer service was not great to begin with but got worse as the night went on. We had to try to get a waitress' attention (while they tried to avoid our presence) to order more food or for drink/water refills. I had mistakenly thought the waitress spoke or at least understood the Korean menu items if I called it out...but she didn't so all orders would need to be done in English (yes, even at a korean bbq place where the online menu displays korean font) Food: The meat did not seem like kalbi meat at all and lower quality. The marinated meat was also not that tasty. I felt like I just ate bulgogi type meat all night. The side dishes were okay. The restaurant website says for unlimited bbq "if the service is good. Please be generous to tip 18%-25%". I would have thought that's normal dine in etiquette and not necessary to note on the site. Sorry to say that this restaurant service is not good... Came here on a Saturday afternoon just before the dinner rush, and glad we did considering how busy it got 30 minutes after sitting down. Our servers who took care of us were all really sweet and friendly! Service was great... we literally could not have asked for better service. As far as the food goes, I would rate it a solid 4/5. I think they have an okay selection, although we were hoping they had tongue. I also wish that they had two or three separate menus instead of one like other AYCE KBBQ do. Typically I'm more familiar with the AYCE places that offer a cheaper Menu A with less items. This one is $33 for AYCE KBBQ, which is a little bit on the higher end if you ask me, but there's not a lot of decent KBBQ options in the Chicagoland in general, so I think they get away with higher menu prices. It is what it is. Even a Soju bottle is $13 or $14 here which is pretty steep. Hmart prices anyone? Either way, given that we were provided very good service, good portions, and a decent variety of meats, I think this place is worthy of a solid 5 stars! We visited around 7pm on a Friday night and were swiftly greeted by a hostess. It wasn't really busy for a Friday night. I guess that should've been a sign. We ended up ordering the House Combo ($60) for a table of two. The Korean banchan (side dishes) were a little off. Maybe I'm not a very good Korean, but I feel like the whole meal would've been better if there was just some more sugar in the meat marinades. The meal was lackluster. I'm going to take the leftovers home and rework it like an episode of Chopped. The food was edible, service was decent, and the squid wasn't too bad. The experience at BBQ but was overall a successful one. There were definitely several highlights that made the experience. First highlight was the unique cooking method that BBQ Hut provided. Most kbbq places have open fire as the cooking method, but here you cook on a cast iron type wok. It wasn't bad. It was actually a little easier to cook, but it didn't provided the flavor that you get when fire hits your kbbq. It's a unique cooking for kbbq but it whether it's good or bad will be determined by your choice of cooking ease vs flame char. In regards to flavor and quality of the meat, BBQ Hut was successful. The meat was portioned well, so you can get a variety of kbbq items without being overwhelmed. The quality of the meat was good. The pork belly and pork bulgogi were definitely the highlights. Of course, if you are doing kbbq you have to take in consideration the banchan, and BBQ Hut had the staples, but it wasn't anything crazy. It was simple and went well with the kbbq. Finally, I wanted to highlight the service. The servers were great. They were friendly and engaged on how our experience was. There was a button to request service, but our table never had to use it due to the attentiveness of our servers, so hats off to their work. All in all, BBQ Hut isn't the best kbbq place you'll ever go to, but the overall experience from the food quality to customer service is worth a trip to try it. read more

Service was absolutely terrible, no wonder it was literally completely empty the whole time we were there. The food was actually kinda tasty, we ordered the all you can eat. Since it's a Korean bbq spot, you have to do the cooking yourself and basically you just tell the waitress what you want and she brings it out. It's true what the other reviews say about the tips though. We had already left a fairly generous tip, so it surprised me when the waitress practically started begging for even more. Ah, I love me some Korean BBQ. There's nothing like getting endless amounts of meat and having your clothes smell like it after a good eating session. Pro-tip: leave your jacket in the car if you don't want to smell like a Korean BBQ. Sure, there's exhaust fans hovering your table, but you can't avoid smelling like it after an hour or so of sitting less than a foot next to one. Of all the asian food out there, besides Vietnamese, Korean food ranks second to my least knowledgeable food. If it isn't Korean BBQ, I don't know much about it, beside kimchee tastes and smells terrible to me. Besides the awesome meats, like pork belly, bulgogi, we got the usual Korean small plate appetizers. The fish cake was always my favorite, along with the bean sprouts. They had one of those call buttons where you press it an their staff comes asking if you need anything. Pretty cool. What else can I say? Honestly I'm not sure what anyone has to complain about here. They offer a GREAT All-you-can-eat (AYCE) experience for less than the price of their full price menu. For anyone complaining about the 2 hour limit, I ask you...what the heck are you doing that you need to eat for more than 2 hours?! The service was great. The longest we waited was for our order to be taken, which wasn't that long. Our server checked on us several times, bringing us refills of the side dishes, and even helping us monitor the tricky chicken dishes. Although we never used it, there was also a service call button if we needed to flag them down. I noticed that many of the meats were less marinated than I've had at other KBBQ places, and I was fine with that. It gave us an opportunity to actually taste the difference between the meats without being overwhelmed by the sauce. The saucier dishes like the bulgogi and the spicy pork were saltier and packed with seasoned flavor. The drier dishes had good flavor in the meat itself. My favorite was probably the mild tripe and the brisket. I also enjoyed tasting a sample size of the gizzards...I've only ever had fried gizzards before, and these were a little more tender and gamier since they're grilled and not breaded. I might try a half order next time. We were so curious to know what joomooluk was...basically, in my opinion, a less tender and drier cut of meat than the brisket. Not bad, but I would go for more brisket next time instead. Although the chicken bulgogi was good, and cooked in foil to avoid cross contamination, I might avoid chicken options in the future just to save myself the anxiety of wondering if it is fully cooked. My favorite side dishes were the seaweed slaw, which had a great chewy crunch with a creamy flavor, and the kimchi radishes. I was tempted to buy a side of the seaweed slaw to take home! The kimchi had great flavor and was not as pungent as I'm used to, which I actually appreciate. Two AYCE with water was $60, I felt the service was above and beyond a standard 20% tip, and that's saying a lot for someone as frugal as me. Considering the price, this isnt something I would do on the regular, but I would definitely return for a special occasion. read more

just now I'm so very happy I finally tried out this Korean restaurant just two short blocks away from me. Typically I have a favorite restaurant near me that I always visit for lunch bento but there wasn't any available table so I decided to finally give this restaurant a try. I chose one of their lunch specials a Bulgogi which is grilled beef with vegetables. The Bulgogi comes with a small bowl of steamed white rice, a bowl of seaweed soup, various cold Korean appetizers and kimchee. The food was incredibly delicious and generously proportioned for the price. The service was excellent and I felt incredibly satisfied with my meal. They always have the standard side dishes and the cubed kimchi, fish cakes, and cucumber kimchi are my favorite! You also always get soup and rice And can get lettuce as well. Ambience is very ordinary and dingy. Service was pathetic with no respect for a new or repeat client. Not only our table, but the table next to ours was also treated the same way. This place is unwelcoming and reminds of the soup nazi on Seinfeld; this is the new Korean nazi in town. Even though we did not want the rice accompaniment for all four people , and only two people were rice eaters at a table of four. She would charge us for all four irrespective. However, we asked for two sets of side dishes, she said, only one set of side dishes will be given per table. And each refill will be charged extra. There are no refills on side dishes. It's one of a kind Korean place. Completely inhospitable. So four people are going to share the one set of side dishes, however, they must all pay for food (rice and salad) that they do not want to consume. Absolutely unrealistic and stubborn reasoning, and so inflexible that the whole experience became a war zone . Apparently she was the manager. God save the servers. We left without a bloodbath . And there is this bell that you are not supposed to ring, even if you have a question because apparently the server feels as if she's a slave, if you ring the bell. It is completely avoidable place. I can't eat with so many rules, can you? If the food was out of this world, one can take the bullets, but it isn't. It was a very rude and rough place and the quality in food is suboptimal. I'm not sure if the owner is aware of how the staff treats customers; hopefully he/she isn't involved in this restaurant's culture of treating customers like complete shit. This was my second and last time coming here. The whole restaurant was empty, yet the waitress wanted us to sit at a small round table with another chair squeezed in. We asked to be moved to another empty table and she fought us on it like we were asking for her mother's kidney. I came here with my family of 5 adults and two kids and ordered 6 orders of Kalbi and other small dishes. Despite ordering $200 worth of meat, they refused to have both grills on at our table. I asked the incompetent, lazy waitress how many orders do I need to make to get the second grill going, and her response was that they don't want to clean another grill for us. She said this was their policy, yet she couldn't tell me what the "policy" was or how they decided whether both grills could be turned on. So bottom line- we had to have cold, raw meat sit at our table while only one grill cooked enough meat for us to have 3 small pieces each. We at our three pieces, then cooked for 10 minutes, then repeat; it was frustrating to say the least. The service included everything from slammed plates on our table to dropping raw meat on the table and putting it back in our dishes. My wife asked the waitress twice if the sugar cane juice is made fresh, she says yes. Then we see the other waitress pop open a can of juice and bring it to us. When we told them to take it back because it wasn't fresh, the waitress that told us it was fresh has amnesia and didn't remember the conversation she just has 3 minutes ago. She angrily took it back and drank it herself. Then, to put insult over injury, comes the 18% mandatory gratuity. I'm not sure why this place doesn't seem to understand that maybe, just maybe, their restaurant wouldn't be so empty if they would treat customers with some respect, and perhaps work on the staff's sanitary habits. To the short, overweight woman who was picking her nose and scratching inside her shirt in open site while we were trying to enjoy our meal, this is definitely unacceptable, even in private (especially the way she was doing it). My advice is to just find another Korean BBQ place; if you have any dignity, don't ruin your evening/afternoon by coming here. Our server was an older woman who goes by the name Lee. She sat us down and recommended us the beef brisket, (beef) joomooluk, and the pork belly. The beef brisket tasted old. Some stuff came in little foil packets and were already pre-cooked ?? All the meat was bland and the kimchi and other banchan weren't that special either. We ordered the shrimp that was advertised with the head on, and it didn't have the heads on. My boyfriend ordered a sprite as it was advertised as that, but received a 7 Up. I asked for more dipping sauce and didn't receive it. Normally little things like this wouldn't bother us as much, but we just kept getting deceived. The price was $78 for two people, which was overpriced for the quality of food and service. After paying, we left and got inside our car. The server chased us out to our car (we were parked right in front of the restaurant) and demanded more money for her tip. I explained that the food wasn't that great and we simply did not enjoy our time there, yet we still tipped. She said "well you're not tipping the kitchen, you're tipping me." I was already sitting in my car and she was STICKING HER ARM THROUGH THE WINDOW demanding for more tip money. I was uncomfortable with what was happening and ended up signing the receipt for a few more dollars. I also work in the service industry and when people don't tip at all, I still wouldn't do something that unprofessional. Found this place after doing some online searching for all you can eat Korean BBQ. This place is pretty easy to get to off the interstate and is worth the drive. The meat selection is a little smaller than others I have been to, but they have the essentials like bulgogi, pork belly and spicy pork and beef. I typically don't venture too far into the meats because I know the ones I like the best. Here the top choices were bulgogi, brisket, spicy pork, pork belly, and the chicken. The sides were really good and flavorful. The rice was done perfectly. The service was really good as well. There was only two ladies that I saw and the place was half full, but they kept up and we're always friendly. Will definitely be back. read more

My friend from SoCal and I had been talking about trying to find a Korean BBQ restaurant in my area, when after we read all the Yelp! Reviews we decided upon this one. BBQ Hut is located in a strip mall with a number of asian restaurants, including ANOTHER Korean restaurant across the parking lot from them. There is also a Thai place and a Chinese/Dim-Sum place as well. You could say this particular strip mall in Hoffman Estates is like a asian food court, but on a bigger scale. Anyway, I digress, as we come in, we're greeted by host and asked if we are doing BBQ and we reply in the affirmative. We also had the kids with us and it was their first time trying the whole Korean BBQ experience. We sit down and they serve us hot tea as well as water. We all decide to just go full-on Korean BBQ for everyone and go for the UNLIMITED option. You get to pick 3 different meats (to begin with) from their diverse menu of marinated and non-marinated meats. We went for the Bulgoki, Galbi, and Non-Spicy Chicken (for the kids). Their meats were quite tasted and the meat was of good quality. Also, the vast array of banchan was quite good. My favorite is the garlic beanspouts. They had a jalapeno pickled daikon as well as the usual kimchee. Then, we tried more Bulgoki and Samgyeopsal (unsalted bacon) to finish off the meal. We had the kids with us and it was a school night, so, we had to hurry it up. We would have indulged our inner carnivore more, but time+kids were an issue. :) Plus, there were quite a number of Korean patrons at the tables that were occupied. So, it MUST be good, right? The service was pretty awesome, maybe because we had kids and the women serving us were all doting on our kids. They gave them a little yogurt treat at the end, which was nice. :) Also, we went in the middle of the week at around 8pm, so, I'm sure the dinner rush was already done. We definitely plan on visiting this place when we can kids or no kids. The UNLIMITED option is $22.95 for adults and $11.95 for kids. There have been mentions of a gratuity issue and if you have a group, but like one or more in the group doesn't go for the BBQ. We didn't experience these things went we went. There was a 15% gratuity, but with the service we go, it's more than worth it. They have a "service button" so, if you need a drink, more meat, and/or more banchan...ring away! If you are going for Korean BBQ, bring a big group...their tables seat 8 to a table with two charcoal burners for optimum meat grilling. They do have other NON-BBQ choices on the menu, but I'm here for the BBQ! If I want just standard Korean cuisine, I'll go to a non-BBQ restaurant. Oh, and watch your hands near the charcoal grills or else you will grill more than just the bulgoki! ;) Overall, YUMMY with a capital YUM! :) I'm so happy to have found this Korean BBQ place...yay for more food options in the burbs! ;) read more
