We were delighted to see that this place was open on Christmas Day. We got the basic package and took to sticking with the chadol (brisket) and samgyeopsal (pork belly). Honestly you get your moneys worth and the service is really great here we were stuffed after the meal. Kids are counted above 3 years old at 2 dollars per year old.

Mr. Kimchi is easily one of the best All You Can Eat Korean BBQ

Mr. Kimchi is one of my favorite spots for AYCE Korean BBQ near Chicago. The quality of the meat is fantastic and the flavors are authentic. I especially loved the pork belly, brisket, and spicy pork. The banchan (Korean side dishes) and kimchi really complete the meal. It's a fun interactive dining experience and great for groups.

My bf and I came here on a Saturday around 1:30 pm and it took quite some time before we were seated. They only have a few 2 person tables so it takes a while to clear and clean the tables. We were seated around 45 min later. You add your party to a waitlist on yelp and you get seated when the table opens up and your entire party is present. My bf and I usually just do the regular set. The premium really only has galbi and seafood as additional options. My favorite meats are the brisket and pork belly. You can do so many flavor combinations with these meats using the picked radish, the homemade kimchi, or the dipping sauces. My bf really enjoys the bulgogi. You can probably skip the spicy pork. In terms of appetizers, I enjoyed the spicy tofu soup. It had a lot of veggies and tofu in it and it was a good flavor, not too salty or spicy. The corn cheese was a bit too cheesy for me. The Korean fried chicken was nicely fried but it was a bit bland and there wasn't a lot of flavor in the batter. The egg dish was perfectly soft and fluffy and expertly seasoned. I could eat 2 of them but that would be too many eggs in a day haha. Service was very prompt and professional. Our waiter would watch our grill and change it out when he saw that it was charring. We didn't even have to ask. He would also come around and grill our meat and cut it up. Our waiter also came over and asked us what meats we wanted for our next round whenever we finished going through our previous round. The workers here run a tight ship. Mr. Kimchi is my favorite Korean bbq place in Illinois and their success is really showing. There's been a lot more branches opening up all over the suburbs! Glad Korean food is so well received all over the area :)

The service was great. Food was good. And the place was ran like a well oiled machine. Everyone seemed to help each other out and we were constantly being checked on. The place overall is clean. My family and I did the $34.95 AYCE option vs the $29.95 option. The main difference- there was more beef and seafood options with the $34.95 plan. I really wanted to try the galbi and the shrimp- which were both good, but could skip the next time we visit. You can order up to 3 meats at a time- the serving sizes are just right. You also get your bon chon and have sizes to order from- I highly recommend the spicy tofu soup... My family and I really enjoyed the brisket and bulgogi, soy marinated pork and the Korean fried chicken (KFC). My only complaint was the wait. It wasn't bad at 45 minutes on a Friday night, but I wish you could get on the wait list prior to getting there. They even use Yelp for the waitlist so I don't think it'd be that hard setting up a sign up in the app....

Compared to their Mt Prospect location, the place is older, and could use a little refresher. Korean BBQ is by nature very easy to get oily/sticky inside (that's why I go out to eat this meal rather than doing it at home), and while the location didn't feel "dirty", it didn't feel "clean" either. Hope this makes sense. Food was very good - still loving their Korean chicken, thought that's technically not part of the BBQ. The marinated cuts of meats were on the sweeter side than I prefer, but yummy to the American tastebuds. Service was good. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. They also have Korean comic books at the entrance! Though we didn't have to wait for a table and I had no time to read anything.

I went to Mr Kimchi last night with my son. We had gone there several years ago when he got his Masters Degree. We decided to go there for a father-son night out - a special evening with a memory of the great time we had several years ago. We were surprised to see they are now "all you can eat." Neither of us were sure what to expect, but after the wonderful experience last time, we were excited to give it a try. We hadn't considered they might be under new ownership and things had changed. We arrived early, at about 5 PM, since we assumed there would be a wait on a Friday night. There is a Yelp check-in stand where you get on their wait list. I added us to the list and we waited for about 15 minutes before we were seated. There are two options, one with about 25 menu choices for one price, and for a little higher price, about 30 options. For the difference we went for all 30 (even though there were a few items we didn't have interest in). The main difference was there was no seafood on the smaller menu, nor were there intestines (which was fine by us...). First, they brought some appetizers - fish cakes, rice cakes, salad, kimchee, japchae, and a couple of other things. They were good - the kimchee was very mild but tasty. For the first round, and you can order up to three items at a time, we got brisket, kalbi, and pork belly. It came out quickly and the server put the brisket on the grill for us. We added the pork belly since it was rather thick and would take a while to cook. The brisket was not spiced at all but they serve rice and two dipping sauces - a mustard and a sesame sauce. They also have a salt shaker. It needed something so we found it went well with the sesame. The other meats, the pork belly and the kalbi were also served without spice so you do need to add something. Then, we tried the spicy tofu soup - that was one of two items that stood out. It wasn't very spicy but did have some heat. Then, we tried the shrimp and the bulgogi. The bulgogi was the other stand out item. The shrimp is served whole and cooks quickly on the hot grill. It is a little difficult to peel and devein after cooking but it was fine. My son was slowing down by that point but I wanted to try the chicken teriyaki and the spicy squid. The chicken was good, the squid was okay. That last serving out me over the edge. They also serve rice but if you want seconds, they charge you for more. The good - the service was really outstanding. The not so good - the quality of the meats has really gone down since our last visit. The all-you-can-eat angle probably brings in a lot of people, and certainly, with all we ate, it would have cost much more if we ordered a la carte. But in doing so, the restaurant has lost some of it's ambiance. If you want a lot of food for a reasonable price, by all means, Mr Kimchi is a good choice. If you want good Korean Barbeque and an authentic experience, maybe you should think about trying another place. Too bad.

Basically, excellent meats and decent sides. We got brisket, different kinds of pork belly (garlic, onion, ginger), and pork shoulder. The fattiness, tenderness, thickness, and flavor of the meat were all on point. Garlic pork belly was our favorite of the pork belly options. I like the medium portion size they give you so that it's easier not to over order. Regarding the sides. Kimchi was bland. Jigae tasted store bought. Fried Chicken is not normally something you find at kbbq but we were curious. Skip it. Steamed egg, cheese corn, and white rice, however, were very good! Employees were on top of tending to our table but could be friendlier. Lots of seating for small to big groups.

Bring your intermittent fasting appetite here! Meat was great but seafood was ok. Shrimp hard to peel and squid was chewy. BUT ramen bar is Stick to the basic lunch AYCE. Our server filled up our banchans regularly and always attentive if we need meat or water. Best part was the bday cupcake! Totally FYP. Had a great time. PS Confused with the location since they're both on golf road!

It's looks like a tiny mall store front that is as wide as the UPS Store next door As a Korean BBQ, I'd say it's more a grow-er than a show-er (ie Iron Age) but the quality is much better, so... it's defo the yummy in the tummy that counts! Prefer a tablet kiosk sign-in that texts your phone over a lame person hatching a pile of buzzers, so another win! I'm not a fan of the hostess trying to select who gets a booth vs. getting assigned to a cafeteria bench of a room, though. Stop being a hater with your droopy fake lashes. Anywho, the server was super nice, and he was so accommodating with recommendations and suggestions. It's not a bad option for $35pp, though charging for lettuce and extra servings of rice is lame.

I ordered a small container of Brussels sprouts and a large of mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was as good as usual--crunchy, cheesy, and the pasta was cooked well. The sprouts disappointed the family this time as there were a lot of stems included. +The instructions were very clear on how to heat the food the next day (Thanksgiving) -Even though I prepaid and picked a specific pick up time, I still had to wait in line +The gentleman who gave me my order included serving utensils which was a help by the time I got to my grandma's house My mentality when visiting repeat restaurants is "If this was my first time, would I go back?" and if that was the first time I ate the Brussels sprouts, I wouldn't order them again.

But let's face it you're not coming here for the decor, it's about the food!! That being said, mediocre at best comes to mind, sorry but true. I hade the Meats + two sides, I choose brisket and pulled pork with beans and fries. Where to start in the just food dinner? The brisket was plain and cook, maybe it had a Smokey flavor but it wasn't that stood out or having me think about more. The pulled pork was the same, it was pulled but the BBQ or smokiness was missing. If you thought those two were missing flavor, don't even try the baked beans, they were almost to the point of just being boiled and put into a little paper side basket. The fries, come on, we are in the Chicago area, why would the serve frozen crinkle fries, where are the fresh cut fries??? At least the sweet tea was good!! If you want good BBQ, take a little bit of a drive to "I Smell Bacon" now that is BBQ done and right the best I have found in the area!!!

Seriously! So, imagine my surprise when I found out they had a restaurant on Irving Park Road in Wooddale - and I would occasionally pass it going to and from work! Well, it was time to try it for lunch today. There wasn't a big line of people, but boy did the food smell like barbecue when I walked in! I quickly ordered the two meat combo with chopped brisket and pulled pork. I got the green chili, Mac and cheese as a side, as well as the classic coleslaw. All right - the ambience was just perfect for a small barbecue place. The food came quickly, but I noted it wasn't quite right. I had asked for chopped brisket not sliced brisket. Not a crime against humanity, true, but still I didn't complain and I decided to go ahead and eat it anyway. So how was it? Well, I slathered on sweet rays barbecue sauce, and ate like crazy. The meat was pretty darn good! The green chili mac & cheese was delicious- can't say that the coleslaw was to my taste, but there was nothing wrong with it. The cornbread was fantastic. The only reason for the demerit? Was that I ordered chopped brisket and got sliced. Will I come here again? Yes, yes I think I shall! And I think you should try it too if you like barbecue.

The chicken was really delicious and flavorful. Probably the best 1/2 chicken I have had in a very long time! It was juicy and the perfect temperature. My favorite thing was the corn bread muffin! It was moist and delicious not dry at all! I would definitely order this meal again! The restaurant was very clean and they played classic rock music in the background (the drive radio station). The restaurant is small but the perfect temperature... it was in the 50's outside and inside it was about 70 degrees in here. If you're in the area I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try. We will definitely be back to give other menu items a try!
