Great BBQ! Quality meats, cooked to perfection. I usually get the amazing brisket, but the boat is a terrific value. It's like a meat banana split: a smoked sausage split down the middle with pulled pork in the middle and beans and potato salad on the ends. These guys definitely know what they are doing with the meat (all of it). It's all delicious; smoked to perfection. Where they fall short is their sides-potato salad, slaw, and especially beans. They could take a note from BBQ Pete's in Kent (and also at the fair every year). ALS a couple of local beers on tap or at least a better bottled beer selection (besides the ONE they have, which is nothing special) could go a long ways to liven and tasty things up as well as increase profits. read more

Great spare ribs and brisket! Texas style dry with excellent rub. Sauce on the tables was excellent as well. Banana pudding was also yummy. Fried okra was good...although bland but I think that just may be the way okra is (my first time for okra). Cole slaw and beans were ok as well. Atmosphere is nice (especially since this used to be a liquor store....pretty simple but nice. Beer is also available which is always good with bbq! Decent flavors but nothing really different from other bbq I've tried. Drove over a half hour to try it, since covid-19 we are unable to eat there so we got the food and came home without looking at the food. Got home and found out that they gave us chicken instead of the ribs that we had ordered, was no happy because not only is bbq expensive, we also drove a distance to go try it. Amazing! I'm a huge fan of brisket but tried the chicken as well on a recommendation. I can't recall a time that I liked chicken better than brisket but it was phenomenal! I am almost always disappointed by bbq restaurants that aren't in Texas or the south. BBQ2U was definitely an exception to that! We ordered a wide variety of meats and sides to get a good representation of what they had to offer. Everything was delicious, but the brisket was the star of the show. The peppery bits of burnt ends were amazing. My kids loved the mac and meat combo bowls. BBQ is never cheap, but I felt this was a good value for what we got. Very very good BBQ. I will come back here again and again. I have been three times as of the writing of this review and all three visits have been delicious. The meats great. The brisket can be a tad fatty but if you ask for lean they will hook it up. The burnt ends are excellent. The bark is dark, nearly black and has mustard seeds, pepper, other spices and a touch of sweetness which I like. The smoke ring is perfect and above all the meat is very tender and moist. The baby back ribs are also spot on. Fall off the bone tender but not mush tender, great flavor and this is making me hungry again. I heard the pulled pork is good too but have not yet tried. I am partial to brisket and ribs. The sides are ok. The Mac n cheese is rather run of the mill and beans are too sweet and katchupy for me. The beans were also a little on the firm side for my liking. The cole slaw was good, not the best I've had but not the worst either. The fries are... fries. Also, there is fresh sliced white bread there for the taking to eat with your meats. My only gripe apart from the not excellent sides is the prices. BBQ is not cheap food anywhere, but $3 for a small chocolate milk and $3 for a fountain drink are a little steep. $20/pound for brisket I am ok with but those prices for sides and beverages I am not. Also, I do not care for one of the young men who work the counter. I don't know his name and would not include it here but his attitude is piss poor and the way he speaks to customers is downright rude in my humble opinion. He stands there rolling his eyes, hand on one hip and acting like he doesn't give a flying f$&k about what he is doing or the customers satisfaction. He acts like it's a privilege to come and eat there and we the customers should profusely thank them for allowing us to purchase their product. Typical millennial attitude. My advice to this gentleman: look people in the eye and thank them for supporting your business. My rating is based on the meat primarily but overall I have it four stars. read more

It's hard to find good bbq and this place hits the nail on the head. They really seem like true geniuses with their craft. My favorite is the brisket, but the pulled pork is a close second. I've had their pulled pork fries and their brisket salad and both combinations are great. Their sides are also done excellently, like their fried pickles and banana pudding. We thought BBQ sounded good for dinner, so we stopped in. We arrived 20 minutes before closing and they had a board by the door listing what they had sold out of. The only thing left was sausage, we figured we may as well give it a try. It was so good! They recommended beans and potato salad to go with it and both were great. Cold. Stale. Bland. This makes me really sad. Barbecue is probably my favorite food. The brisket had plenty of smoke, but was somehow both fatty on the outside and dry inside. The owner contacted me and expressed great pride in their food and expressed regret that I had a negative experience. I still cannot in good consciousness give it more than two stars because of the chicken but I'll update it to reflect the excellent customer service as reflected in my first review and the owner's follow-up. He offered for me to try the brisket but I don't eat red meat. On a good note my husband is vegan and he loved the jackfruit sandwich. Taste buds are different for everyone so give it a try. ORIGINAL REVIEW: If I could give the food 0 stars I would. The service was great and the people are friendly. Unfortunately this was the BLANDEST, TASTELESS chicken I've ever tasted. Maybe my palette is used to more flavorful restaurants in different, more soulful areas other than Gig Harbor. Pluses: Very clean. Friendly staff. Fully stocked everything (refrigerated self-serve, cups, sides, table tops). Quick, although they weren't busy when we were there. Minuses: Bland flavors. Only one BBQ sauce available in dining room and it was very boring. They had Tabasco Sriracha (not even the "real" Sriracha) on all tables, instead of only their own sauces. There were four of us at our table and everyone's food was consistently just "OK" in quality, with two of us agreeing it was pretty bland. Sides tasted like they were store-bought instead of homemade. Styrofoam cups and plastic utensils for dine-in. Bit pricey, but that seems to be the trend these days with BBQ. Overall: Decent enough to give them another try in a few months to see if they improve their game. But as of now, not worth the price. read more

Great barbecue! I have traveled to many different states and tried many types of Brisket, I can honestly say that this Brisket is some of the best that I've ever had! The gentleman behind the counter opened up a new Brisket and cut it right in half for me and you could smell the smoke and see tenderness as the juice flowed out. On top of that, the Brisket had a beautiful color and a simple but perfect salt and pepper rub. The taste and texture was spot on. I always check out reviews before I decide to try something new. All I can say is that the reviews, pictures and mouth watering videos do not do the Brisket justice. Even more impressive was the staff who took care of me tonight! From behind the counter to cleaning the tables, they made my experience feel like home! They went out of their way to discuss how the Brisket is smoked and you could see the passion for what they do. Having made many a pilgrimage to BBQ places throughout Texas, this place would hold to most any of them. There's really no faking the Texas flavor, you've got to have brisket and spare ribs, and you have to use oak. They have it down very well. If I had to get super critical, I'd leave a tad more chew on the ribs, and a touch more rub/crust on the brisket, but when you have to get that detailed it tells you how good it is. The smell alone lures me from the cleaners or Ace Hardware. Quite simply, if you don't like it, you aren't into Texas BBQ, which probably means you're vegetarian. It needs a cooler name though, sounds like a mail-order company. Salt Lick, Rudy's, Porters, Blacks, Kreuz Market...these are BBQ names. Otherwise, they nail it. read more

I went to this restuarant today. The two gentlemen who worked there were authentically culturally competent. They were family oriented, hospitable and sold their product with ability to articulate their recipes and cooking processes with their various meats. Don't let the name discourage you from going! This is some of the best BBQ I have ever had. The last two times I have been there I have ordered the Mac n meat with brisket and they just pile that meat on! I actually have to take some meat off and put it to the side to get bites of both Mac and meat. Then I add the meat back in as I go. The guys working there seem to really enjoy it, which is a plus.
