Brisket, Jalepeno Cheddar Sausage & Mac N' Cheese

Stopped in while we were in Gig Harbor for lunch on a Saturday, and we must have timed it perfectly. There weren't many people there when we arrived, but the restaurant filled up pretty quickly after we sat down. The staff was one of the highlights of our visit. Everyone was super friendly and patient while we looked over the menu. I especially appreciated the gentleman slicing the meat--he would cut a portion, show it to us, and ask if that looked good before finishing. It was a nice touch that made ordering by weight feel much easier, although the standard portions were already very generous. My husband had the chicken, we shared a jalapeño cheddar sausage, and I ordered the brisket. I was honestly surprised they still had brisket available because it was excellent. We both had the mac and cheese, shared the potato salad, and everything was really good. We also ordered the fried pickles, which were brought out to our table a little later. They were crispy and tasty, but I do think they'd really benefit from a dipping sauce. The restaurant itself was clean, casual, and easy to navigate with the self-serve drink station. I also grabbed a brownie because it looked amazing, but unfortunately that was the only disappointment of the meal. It was more like chocolate cake than a rich, fudgy brownie, so it didn't quite satisfy my sweet tooth. Overall, we'd definitely come back. The couple next to us ordered pulled pork sandwiches that looked incredible, so that's probably what I'll be trying next time. Great barbecue, friendly service, and a comfortable atmosphere--I'd happily recommend giving them a try.

Food is great, ambiance dine in area is big and filled with lots of nick nacks. Service was fast for me walking in on a Sunday. Packed fast to go. Fried okra was a 5 minute wait but soooooo worth it! Haven't had a good fried okra in a long time. Would definitely eat here again.

Keep your hats on for this review, my people! Here's the spice of life. We came here for dinner after spending the day on Vashon Island and weren't sure at first if we'd been to this BBQ place before. After parking and thinking back to around Covid, we remembered, yes, we had been here once before, and it was all "to go." So this time, we jumped at the chance to sit, relax, and enjoy. We ordered a pound of beef brisket and two orders of fried okra. The brisket was juicy, tender, and not too spicy. It comes dry with sauce on the side, and there are plenty of delicious sauces for your taste buds to enjoy. After receiving our brisket, my beloved and I wondered where our okra was. Watching everyone come and go, plus pickup orders, we thought it was taking a while because the okra is made fresh to order. Boy, were we wrong. After about 30 to 45 minutes of chatting and trying to figure out if it's made fresh, coated, then fried, or thawed and fried, we decided to ask. Luckily, we did because no one heard our order being called back to the kitchen. That was strange since the kitchen staff member who took our order had gone back to cooking. Maybe he thought it was dropped or the order had been made. No harm, no foul. After several eye-to-eye exchanges with staff and possibly the owner, he asked if we were waiting or needed something. We mentioned the two orders of okra. They apologized for not making the order, refunded us, and still made the okra. But wait, ladies and gentlemen, it gets even better! Not only did we get our okra, but I believe the owner also gave us smoked chicken, more brisket, sausage, beef ribs, and two delicious brownies. I know this is long, but I appreciate you sticking with me until the end. This was the perfect way to end our day! It was significant because it was our 20th Wedding Anniversary and 22 years together. We did not mention this to anyone until after everything had happened. If the owner reads this review, please know how much you blessed us with your transparency and effort to provide the best experience. The gentleman who gifted us the fantastic food and refunded our money for the okra, which he wasn't obligated to do, was incredibly kind and polite about the mistake. We truly appreciate his kindness, and he appreciated our patience and understanding. Overall, even without the extra attention, we will return because the restaurant is clean, the food stays fresh, and the service is excellent. It's incredible how some of the best BBQ is right here in Gig Harbor.

I lived in Texas for 14 years and have been to all the great BBQ spots in Kansas City. Here in Washington we just don't have great BBQ......or so I thought!!! This place does a nice job of making Texas style BBQ! Had the brisket and the jalapeño cheddar sausage. Was given a free sample of the smoked pork butt (super tender and great smoke flavor) as well. Ordered a side of beans and they were really good too! Like a lot of Texas places you buy the meats by the pound and they do not offer combo plates. Really wish they did. Would have loved a plate with a couple sides. Good was really good though and I found a spot to scratch the BBQ itch!

I gave BBQ2U another try, and that one visit turned into many more. The meat is solid, though sometimes a little on the mild side, but the BBQ sauce more than makes up for it. It's fantastic--and they even bottle and sell it. Bring back an empty bottle, and you get half off your refill, which is a great deal. The fries are also excellent, always cooked fresh, and the staff here are incredibly friendly and personable. They take the time to chat and even remember you when you come back. I personally always get a brisket sandwich slathered in sauce.

I was pleasantly suprised with the BBQ here! Stumbled upon this place when I was looking for something to eat in the Gig Harbor area. Texas style bbq with a focus on delicious smokey beef with sauce on the side. Went with the 1 lb beef brisket (fatty cuts of course), 1lb pork ribs, beef brisket and brisket chili. Sadly, they forgot to add the two sausages I ordered so I cannot comment on them. Beef brisket was very succulent and delicious. The beef rib is always a favored cut of mine and always get this if available. Enough meat for two people as the rib is enormous. Pork ribs were very tender fall of the bone. Brisket chili was interesting riff that had sweet corn mixed in. BBQ for a bit over $100 it was enough food for about 5 meals so all in all not a bad deal. I hope they remember the sausages next time!

I was craving BBQ, and have been wanting to try BBQ2U for a while. My husband and I stopped in during the week after work looking for a quick bite to eat in the plaza. Not knowing what to expect, surprisingly, there was a solid line to order your food at the counter. There is plenty of seating inside, and they offer to-go and online orders. You wait in line to order, and then also wait at the counter to get your food. There isn't a "take your name" or "call your number" system, but the food is worth the wait. We both ordered brisket sandwich, with chips and a fountain soda. They also have a selection of unique bottled sodas. The sandwich was simple, but still delicious. They have an area with sauces you can choose from, but I wished they were labeled so you know what sauce was what. There's also an area to purchase sauces and rubs to take home, and other merchandise items. It's a cool local spot that filled my BBQ craving. There is a BBQ boat that I want to try next time!

This is my second time coming out to BBQ2U and the food is again pretty good. I ordered the 2 meat platter and got the brisket and pulled pork. The brisket is very good even though it is a little different from the southern bbq that I am used to. The pulled pork is also pretty good. Just add some bbq sauce and order a Hawaiian roll to give it that extra kick. The staff members are pretty awesome here and they establishment is clean and welcoming. read more

This place has the best BBQ in the state. If anyone says otherwise, they clearly haven't been here yet. All the meats are so perfect. It's apparent how much care is put into the preparation of this food. Every time I come I find something new to fall in love with. Again like others said. I wanted to check it out after all the reviews. And I have to say that they did live up to them. Especially on the meats side. The Brisket is as good as anything you going to get this side of Texas. And better that any I've had in the PNW. They understand what it means to smoke your meats. And the rub is classic Texas rub with just salt and pepper. The ribs have the same rub and are meaty and tender. Something that is different than most BBQ places in Texas is chopped pork. Good but not great. I've tasted better in joints down south that specializes in BBQ pork. Meaning that BBQ in Texas starts and ends with beef. The sides are always a tricky thing at BBQ places. And these are just again ok. Nothing stands out. I tried the fried okra, cole slaw and potato salad. They all seem like they came from a vendor such as Sysco. Which means they can't stand on their own. I also tried the banana pudding. Again good not great. The stars of this place are the meats and the staff. A family own place that truly want to make good BBQ in a area that is in need of it. I have been twice and the level and quality of service as been top notch both times. I am looking to see how things go as other find out what Texas BBQ is like. And there business starts to grow. Which it will. And they don't lose their edge and uniqueness in this field. read more

A really, really great find. Tried both the brisket and ribs, the former was better than the latter, but both were tasty. Ribs were a bit dry, but definitely good. The brisket, wow... on par with the BBQ we've had in Texas. Had a variety of their sides, potato salad, mac and cheese, baked beans, fried okra... all were yummy, okra was fantastic. Reasonably priced, healthy portions, and a really cool ambiance. I would give it 4 stars due to the ribs, but the service bumps it up to 4.5, and also makes me more inclined just to round up. We stayed away too long... 3 weeks from last visit to BBQ2U! Wife telecommutes from home to work daily. She ACTUALLY works harder and longer than when she was in office. When we want a break (and a very satisfying reward) we often "order out" ( of course, as is "Pandemicly" required). As experienced epicurean travellers, we are very familiar most BBQ techniques and styles. By far and above most of our dining experiences, BBQ2U is ahead of the curve. Most definitely the leaders on the west coast. Very friendly staff and eager to please. The interior "smoke-out" stays with you even after returning home. The flavors, moisture and carnivore cuts are exciting great! We tried the fried okra, and to our delight, will continue to order it. This visit we ordered the "SamplerTray." 3 meats and 4 sides. We were not disappointed but exceedingly pleased. Always ask for 3 sauce sides due to sharing competition or just buy the bottle. You won't be disappointed. (I occasionally add a drop of my favorite hot sauce to their BBQ, but that is just me). Be sure to try the Jalapeno Cheddar sausages (mild, tasty with great "snap!") Enjoy (P.S., turn in your counter receipt and they will donate a percentage of your total (no charge to you) to local High School sports team. GO BBQ2U! read more

I love bbq. As Tennessean bbq is a way of life. I admire the differences in bbq culture. I'm not sure how Texas this place is? I didn't get much heat in anything. I was hoping to get that Texas kick. Brisket and pork need a little rub on there. The smoke is nice. Everything perfectly cooked. They have to figure out how to get the service a little quicker. Use technology fellers. If you're looking for some Big Red soda, they got it!! Along with lots of Central Texas favorites. We moved here from the Ft Hood area 6 years ago and this is a wish come true to us since we missed authentic TX style brisket. We prefer our sandwiches on good O'l plain white bread instead of the massive buns they used (it overwhelms the 2 pieces of brisket IMO) and the option of using mayo (they don't even make it available, it's a BYOM kinda place). The flavor was perfect and only in GH would a BBQ place ever sell out of chicken and turkey before any brisket!! keep up the great job! Suggestion: move the menu from the start of the line to maybe above the trays or tape it to the counter. read more

This place is delicious!! In my opinion, Famous Dave's isn't so famous and Dickies can go suck it lol! THIS place has the flavor and it might be a bit pricey, but the quality of meat is insane. I felt back home in Dallas when I ate there. Aside from the great food and sweet bbq sauce, the staff were very friendly. The cute guy at the counter complimented my green sweater and his smile was so beautiful lol (I was secretly crushing on him)! He also cared about "getting more bang for my buck" by suggesting certain things which I thought was uber considerate. I highly recommend this place and would give it a ten if I could! BBQ2U is by far one of my favorite places in the area. The service is amazing and everyone who works here is so kind and helpful. On top of that, the food is some of the best I've had. I bring friends here often and they are always a little skeptical when I tell them that this is the best BBQ place I have ever been to, but BBQ2U never disappoints. I always get the lone star tray with brisket, fried pickles, and coleslaw or banana pudding. A few of my good friends I've brought here are vegetarian and they love the BBQ jackfruit, I am moving out of the area soon (done with college) and I will miss this place and the special memories I've made here a lot. Don't know what has happened to their food. When they first opened it was great and happy to finally see a good BBQ place in town. We have ordered Many times and food was great! Last two orders, not so much!! Chicken was very dry(ended up tossing half) and ribs Very small. Side order of potato salad was the best, but hardly any of it. For what you pay now for food won't be back. It's like they are cheapening up which is the kiss of death for any restaurant! read more

Before moving to the PNW I lived in Nashville for 2 years. They know how to do BBQ. Needless to say, my standards were pretty high, and this place met them! The staff was very friendly. They went above and beyond helping us with everything. They offer a military discount, and I really support any business that is good to our service members. The food was so amazing. I have read different reviews say their Mac N Cheese and brisket is dry, but we did not have that problem. They were both perfectly moist and went well with the BBQ sauce. I also ordered the fried okra. I was not blown away by it, and it was lacking flavor. I would order the beans next time. Besides the okra, we had an amazing experience. Southern transplant to PNW and it's difficult to find Southern style foods. Lots of chains selling bbq not anything like BBQ2U. This is the real deal! Only negative I had (if you can call it that) most southern BBQ offers multiple BBQ sauces they only have one. It is a very tasty sauce but options are nice. This is the real deal. Fantastic Texas BBQ. I've tried the pork ribs, brisket, pulled pork, sausage, and chicken thighs. It was all great. Their sauce is on point. For sides, we had fried okra and mac-n-cheese, both were very good. To finish it off, we enjoyed a very nice banana pudding with vanilla wafers. Overall a great experience, will be back! read more

This is the place to go... We drove down from Seattle on a free weekend and were not disappointed! We've been craving bbq after coming back from Austin, but unfortunately had yet to find a decent place around Seattle. Their prices are standard to anywhere you'd go for good bbq in Texas and the flavor is on point. It's a very clean place, no sticky tables from excessive sauce users from previous customers, and great service. We plan to come back down with a group soon - pending an M3 drive and dine session. Fantastic food. The brisket, spare ribs, sausage and turkey tasted great. We went there for our first time and were raving to each other about the experience. The trays are the best bargain for the price. The staff were very friendly and were very helpful with answering our questions and had some suggestions. We are definitely going to be back. The website is very good with lots of pictures so you can see the food and know what you want to order when you get there. When we were there we saw some Gig Harbor firemen and women there so we knew it had good food since the firemen and women in all departments seem to know the best places to eat. Netshed No. 9's location on the water - especially on such a bright and sunny day - provides a perfect PNW dining experience on their deck. My cup of clam chowder was enjoyable although the small cubes of potatoes outnumbered clams. The Chop Chop Chicken salad was lovely, especially the ample and freshly grilled chicken along with diced fresh tomatoes, blue cheese, hard salami, hard smoked mozzarella atop a bed of nicely dressed mixed greens. I'll state my personal preference for romaine lettuce but that did not deter me from being a member of the clean-plate club. If the weather is cooperating, this is a great venue for a lunch with friends.

And I was like no I handed the waitress $25 cash and she never said 18% was taken out and I didn't pay attention to my receipt cause I had children with me but then when I looked back in my car on Saturday night from Tuesday, I realize that she double charged me. So on Tuesday she got over a $50 tip. The waitress on Tuesday she was a Hispanic lady with dark black hair. She robbed me. So please be aware you're going with the party of six or more. They automatically take out 18% gratuity. And I did not like that because she should've told me that you don't have to leave cash. She knew my kids were crying and I was trying to yo leave and not distract the other guest. But on the positive note, the place is nicely decorated. And service is good. Since my wife is of German heritage, brats and kraut are a thing in our life. The menu here looked really good, so we stopped in our 29th anniversary. I will say, there is a parking lot across the street. For those who've been in the area for a while and remember past times, it used to be a used car lot Luckily I found an empty spot on the street right out front, so I grabbed it. But yeah, parking in this area can be tricky. Just be aware that there is the lot across the street on Puyallup Avenue, the entrance is from "Court A", which looks like an alley but is technically a road. Tacoma is fun like that. So let's talk food. We ordered the Brätzel, because my wife loves a good soft pretzel with some beer cheese. This one states that it's a beer cheese soup, and it was a bit thinner than a typical beer cheese. But it had a really good flavor. It was not gritty at all like some beer cheese can be (I'm looking at you Hops&Drops). I'm not a huge pretzel fan, but I will say that I tried a portion of it and enjoyed this one. The pretzel had a good flavor and the beer cheese soup was great. We also split the Landjäger / Käse Platte. Let's get one thing clear, this thing is bigger than it looks on the menu. There's a lot here. I'm really not sure exactly which of the four cheese were which. If you go by the description on the Käse Platte then it should be Bavaria Bleu Crème, Raclette, Emmentaler and Butterkäse. The Bleu Crème is easy to spot. The rest look similar really. But each had a unique flavor and all tasted absolutely wonderful. The cured beef and pork sausages were good, but the cheese stole the show here. We also shared the Berliner Platte for a main. Again, I can not stress this enough, there is A LOT of food here. the two of us had no chance of eating all this. This plate comes with the following sausages; Berliner Bratwurst, Smoked Cheese, Spicy Cheese, Chicken Andouille & Bockwurst as well as being served with sauerkraut and you get to pick two sides. We chose the Spätzle and Pommes (fries). All of this was amazing. The spicy sausage and the andouille were too spicy for my wife, but we knew that going in. If you have a group and are wanting to sample the many wursts here, I would highly recommend this plate. Now, let's talk service. I don't remember our server's name, but she was so great. Very friendly, very tentative, very good at her job. This was exactly the kind of service I look for when I go out to a restaurant. I don't want some tablet where I'm interacting with a faceless machine, I don't want a kiosk, I want a real person who engages with us and helps make our experience the best it can be, and this place gets it. The staff here is on point, they are good, they take good care of you and the experience made s want to come back. This place is for sure at the top of our list for German food here in Tacoma. If you have not been, you need to stop by. It's not big, it's not fancy, you'll drive right by it if you aren't paying attention. But this place is by far the perfect replacement for our missing sausage haus. We are so glad we stopped in.

We ordered the smoked turkey, chicken and pulled pork for our Groom's dinner last week per the quantity recommended on the price sheet. The guys on the phone and at the store were ALWAYS very friendly and helpful. We had the food delivered to our home, and it arrived right on time, which was GREAT because we had 50+ hungry people! The food arrived with huge tubs of BBQ sauce, pickles, onions and peppers...which was such a surprise to us! The food was SUPERB (everyone commented on it)...and, even with the young hungry crowd we had, we still had a lot of leftovers...which we shared =) I HIGHLY recommend BBQ2U for any large gathering. I like the spot, good fried okra! We ordered the Texas tray for $12 - comes with a meat and 2 sides. Chicken was good but definitely needs BBQ sauce since it's on the dry side. Biggest complaint by far - needs a second cashier and food prep person. The line moves slow and I'm glad we got there before the rush. They cut the meat in front of you which isn't necessary and/or if so, needs a second line to keep it moving. Good place to bring kids, but again, they could use more than 2 high chairs. We wanted to share one bison burger and he was willing to serve it up in 2 plates, cut in half, so that we don't need to do all the legwork that usually comes with splitting a dish, and this is with no extra charge. Additionally, we signed up for their email newsletter for a 15% off the order. Cheese comes at an extra 99 cents but it was all good with the discount. The bison burger is pretty good. It definitely tastes a bit different from the usual beef that you are more likely accustomed to, but it was delicious nonetheless. The bison patty was juicy, and the fixings are good though a bit standard for a typical burger. We opted for spuds for the side and he gave a very generous amount of it for each of us. Overall, friendly staff and delicious food, all around a nice restaurant to check out in the Tacoma/Ruston area, pretty close to Point Defiance. Take a look at some of the items around the restaurant while you wait, as it is all bison themed and quite interesting!
