This is a family favorite. We've visited multiple locations 8-10 different times. We typically visit the third lake location and have always been treated very well. Their serving staff is welcoming and accommodating to our family - we have 2 little kids who require high chairs and a service dog who requires a little extra space. The food has always been remarkable. We typically get the chef's special platter which is an excellent variety of their different meats. But my favorite is always the burnt ends - so good! The smoked gouda Mac n cheese is a wonderful side. There is a great selection for everyone here. Highly recommended. read more

My family and I are visiting the area and so glad we stumbled across this restaurant! The service and food is top notch! Our server, Dani, was the sweetest. Very attentive, personable and offered great suggestions on food selection. The food was excellent. The ribs and brisket were falling off the bone! The pulled pork nachos, delicious! Have had this food many times. They are great for catering as well. The only reason I didn't give that elusive last star is because their staff (casting a broad net, not sure exactly who it was) didn't know the menu and ingredients when I asked about a food allergy. Welp, turns out what I asked about was in fact in the food and my husband had to toss most of his food. Great tasting food! The burnt ends are my go to. Eat in or take out, great food! read more

Burnt ends were way over cooked. Dry and all flavor was from the excessive amount of rub. It tastes like they were cooked a few days ago and in a tray the tossed on the griddle to reheat. Maybe this is just how they are on a Sunday. Sauces, potato salad and server Hannah were great. Stay away from cheese curds they were over cooked rocks. read more

Bbq Productions has really gone down hill. We ordered the two meat platter with two sides. We received exactly 12 very small burnt ends and 7 ribs. The fries were a grand total of 16 and Cole slaw which had zero flavor. All for $32.00. This is the second time in the last two months going there and there won't be a third. read more

Cozy little spot and perfect place to cool off with a cold beer. The food was absolutely delicious! We started with the nachos and buffalo egg roll appetizer--simply wow! For our entrees, we had the burnt ends and hot link sandwich, while our kids enjoyed the Mac and cheese and burger. Every dish was a hit. BBQ'd Productions isn't too far removed from Real Urban BBQ or City Barbeque. My suggestion here would be to increase the portion size of the entrees and side dishes. But otherwise, the service is outstanding and it's a low-key and friendly atmosphere to meet a friend group. There's also six different varieties of squeeze bottle sauce at each table, so you can go to town adding some extra flavor. My favorite is the Sam Adams Boston Lager sauce. The appetizers just weren't it. Our nacho plate was full enough with toppings, but the chips themselves were stale. Their quesadillas are fine, a bit too greasy to fully appreciate. But of course, you are mainly coming here for the smoked meats. I rarely eat brisket, but these are bombastic burnt ends. So tender, meaty, and succulent. This place is a half hour drive from me. While I never would come here out of the blue, I am sold on meeting friends here again. Just with some tweaks to my next meal. read more

The BBQ here was so delicious. I didn't want to stop eating. Portions were a decent size so there's plenty of leftovers. If I were in the area, I would definitely return. The service was really friendly and attentive without being intrusive. We got wings and nachos to start. If you're there for the BBQ, unless you purposely want leftovers, i would skip ordering appetizers. You'll still have leftovers just ordering the double meat entree BBQ meal. I got the burnt ends and ribs I think? With coleslaw and mashed potatoes. All absolutely delicious. You really can't go wrong here. If ever I'm in the area, i will definitely return. read more

I can't say enough good things about my experience here. Being from Memphis, I was going to pass on this place thinking there was no way their barbecue would come close to anything in Memphis. Because the reviews were so good, I had to give it a try. I came in here on a Friday night by myself not expecting much. But, long story short, I was blown away! I was seated immediately & the assistant manager was my waiter. He was very kind, attentive, & helpful in helping me select food, beer, and any questions I had. I can't speak for the ribs which would ultimately be the true test, but another staple of a good quality barbecue place is their nachos. I ordered the large barbecue brisket nachos listed under the appetizer section as a meal & they were absolutely incredible! Wowowow. Arguably the best nachos I've ever had & I nearly ate the entire $14 plate in 1 sitting but decided to save some so I could relive this flavorful experience again the next night for dinner (it was just as good as the first time & they gave me bbq sauce to go). Another two things I really liked were the extensive drink menu & variety in barbecue sauces which were all incredible. Definitely recommend this place & I hope to try the ribs next time! 15/10 on the brisket nachos! Well done. read more

Don't bother. Server was friendly, but food was extremely slow to come out of the kitchen. We were one of only 3 tables seated, otherwise the place was empty on a Friday night. I came here for lunch and was immediately acknowledged with a smile and was quickly sat down. The dining area was nice and spacious with high bar tables to the left, and shorter tables on the right side of the restaurant. Their menu looked very promising with so many good choices. I ordered their 5 oz brisket sandwich and it tasted phenomenal. The brisket was juicy and tender with a nice smoke flavor. Just like brisket should be done. I also ordered their Mac and cheese as my side. It was tasty, but not sure if I'd order that again as my side. I'd probably choose either their mashed potatoes or beans. The only problem with this place is their bbq sauces. They're all so damn good it's hard just to stick to one sauce. I mean, I'm not a big fan of their Alabama white, and never been a big fan of a Carolina style, but IBC Root Beer, seriously? And then you make a Maple Chipotle and a Chicago Sweet & Spicy...y'all got some major problems trying to give you're customers to much good stuff at all once! And then they make a Sam Adams bbq sauce if you're into that type of thing. Overall I left extremely satisfied and will definitely be returning to try out some other things off their menu. "Old School" customer service, Hospitality and appreciation for our customers is key and loyalty goes both ways friends. I was very interested to try the food here after trying a couple items that were served at a friend's party. I asked to say Hi to the owner as a entrepreneur myself. They said they would be out shortly at my request, being my first time and spending well over $300 to try some of their dishes I was extremely insulted to see that the owner never had the courtesy to say Hello as I waited. In my world, "old school" customer service is success because without customers you have nothing. I also believe that you should always remember where you came from. The food was very pricey for the Area and not worth the disrespect I felt. After this experience I'll stay with Hecky's in Evanston where we are recognized, greeted by name and given a positive everything when I walk in by the owners Daughter, Gigi...RIP Senior. Hecky's is located North Shore with more than fair prices, above par food and traditional style barbecue. Big Ed's is in Waukegan and we paid double plus for the food and a very poor customer service experience ‍ along with overpriced barbecue and sides. I got lots of sauce for not enough barbecue. If I could have cancelled I would have but it was the first time and the last time. I asked one last time "What happened to the owner who was supposedly was going to say Hello?" They said he left through the side door because he was busy. His picture is on a large sign outside and this man was at Aldi when I stopped for apples on the way back home to Arlington Heights. Go to Hecky's in Evanston, Smoque in Chicago, even Joe's Barbecue in Hillside. Good Luck Big Ed!!!

This is my third review of BBQD Productions. I've reviewed before about the food, the atmosphere, and the service, but this review is about the business and it's management in general. I've been a customer since the 2nd month they were open. I first visited because I was acquaintanced with the owner. I've never considered myself a BBQ guy, as my experience with it was always "just ok", and I never understood the appeal. My first trip, I had the hamburger. Probably the best hamburger I was ever served. While eating it, I told the owner I would come back for the burger, but wouldn't try the bbq. The next time I returned, he challenged me to up the ante with some BBQ. I tried the brisket nachos. Wow! Delicious! Next time i returned, they had just developed the Bacon Explosion. Holy SMOKE, was I in love! On St Patrick's day I went specifically for the Corned Beef. Honestly, it was dry and unappetizing. I went to the owner (who always makes himself available) let him know my experience. He went into the kitchen, came out with the chef and explained to me exactly what went wrong. He didn't try to excuse it, or blame my taste buds. Said they were training new cooks and the cook who prepared my meal had cut the meat on the wrong grain. They used it as a training experience for the cook, and subsequently served me the most delicious, melt in your mouth corned beef I had ever experienced. I've watched this restaurant rally to support the community, help it out in time of need. Like when the tornado hit third lake, Kris set up his food trailers and supplied free food and water to the effected area 24/7 for 5 days straight. They also provided free food and water for the police who were investigating the fox lake issue last year. My favorite thing about the restaurant is how clean and neat it always is, the awesome amount of televisions throughout, the way the owner cultivates it's customers interests, and challenges them to give honest feedback that they always use to make things right, how community minded the owner is and how friendly, quick and polite the service always is. I now no longer consider the owner an acquaintance, but a friend. read more

Friday night I was in for the first time because my friends told me how good it was. I was blown away! I had the half brisket, half pork nachos which my waiter Scott told me I should get. At first I was reluctant because i am not a "Nachos" type of gal, but he reassured me I would be very happy with my choice. I have never been in a restaurant where a waiter spends so much time explaining everything from the sauces you make, specials, menu, history as well background of the ownership. We definitely want to meet the owners after what he had said about them to possibly do a catering next fall. My wife and I go to this restaurant once a week. We wanted to let you know that we were in last night and the food was amazing. Scott was our server (we always ask for him as well our friends do too) and we took his recommendations on the new menu items. We had the Po Boy sandwich and the Burnt Ends and it was the best meal we have ever had there before. We appreciated Scott's professionalism when we asked what had happened to the old chef and were encouraged about future visits when he told us about the new chef. Just had the most fantastic meal here. The manager Heather asked the chef to make the lent special fish for me because I have a problem with my esophagus I can only eat certain soft foods And they agreed. The waitress Tori was outstanding and was very attentive to us and brought our food hot and delicious. My husband and I drove 5 hours to spend the day with my sister and I'm glad we shared a meal at BBQ'd Productions today. We have come in here a handful of times so far. Each and every time the service has been great! The food is amazing! And the bloody Mary's are the best we've had in the lake county area!! The last time we were in was on the 4th of July... We walked in tonight and Kelan made us feel at home by offering us our fav spicy Bloody Mary's even though we weren't even sitting at the bar! I had high expectations but was disappointed... The atmosphere is like a casual bar and grill, with rustic decor and a laid-back vibe, and the staff were all friendly. However, our waitress, though sweet, got my order wrong 3 times. The food was the biggest letdown: the brisket was dry and definitely needed BBQ sauce, the rib tips were tough, the mac and cheese was watery, and the brussels sprouts were bland. The sweet potato fries were the only decent part. I personally wouldn't recommend this place for good and authentic BBQ. read more

We planned for our Super Bowl party today and our first call days ago was to Kris and his team at BBQ'd productions. BBQ pulled pork and pizza rolls were a huge hit! We wanted something special. When we told our guests where we were ordering from, boy were they happy. They know the food is always excellent - dining in or carry out. We've catered w/BBQ Productions before. My family and I have become regulars here. They really treat us like family. I love the bacon explosion special. My wife loves the skirt steak. The chef is incredible. I love that this place is locally owned and not a chain. Also amazed at all Kris, the owner, does for the community. If I had to levy 1 judgement, it would be more choices for the kids menu. The owner explained why, and I understand the reason, but I'd like the kids to be in as much love with the food as I am. Maybe next time I'll let them split some ribs. read more

We love BBQ Productions, and frequently stop in for their killer food!!! We recently decided to have a family member's birthday party there with 17 people (including a few kids), and they were EXTREMELY accommodating!!! Our large, private table was waiting for us when we arrived, the service was awesome, and the food of course was absolutely delicious! If you get a chance when you are there enjoying some of the best BBQ around ask to meet Chris, the Owner. He is an absolute fantastic individual that is passionate about his running his business with Quality and Customer Service at the top of the menu. If it's not too busy he may just pull up a chair and give you some insight into to his relationship with Sam Adams Brewery and its' Founder. I wish I had found this place sooner! It's the real thing - you won't be disappointed. These folks KNOW HOW TO COOK! Every item was simply superb - I don't know how it could get any better. The ribs and choice of fine BBQ sauces was outstanding; even the salad was simply delicious! Just thinking about it makes me want to go back - and I plan to very soon. My review has nothing to do with the food. We go there a lot and everything has always been delicious. My issue is with the treatment of employees. We have seen it a few times. but last night was it for us. A manager yelled at an employee who is very new in front of the entire restaurant. Employees and customer were able to hear. I felt so bad for her. You can't treat your employees like that. We will not be supporting this business any longer. read more

The meat if tender and has a most amazing flavor, the sides very great as well, the waiter was nice and polite. We both had pulled pork sandwiches--I had the Tetra Taters and he had the beans and cole slaw. Tried all the sauces, and I like the Samuel Adams the best. I can still taste the smokiness now--wish I was there (for breakfast?)! Although the menu is limited, the sides are different, and prices are very reasonable. The Pulled Pork Nachos are absolutely delicious and we could have eaten them alone and been satisfied and full. I ordered thru Uber eats cuz I had a deal. My meats and Mac n cheese were dry. The food was so dry that I couldn't even eat my dinner. I've only been here once but I loved it. It was very busy (weekend night) but what a fun atmosphere to be out with friends. Food and service was great and worth the wait. I'm a nearly life long resident of Gurnee (36 of my years) and have only been here twice now, and both in the last month. Just recently took my parents because my first visit went so well. They have lived and worked in Gurnee since the early 80s and somehow have never been either, until now. How did I even end up here after all these years? I kept seeing mentions on social media. It was giving WI supper club kinda vibes of which I'm a HUGE fan of and I was like well I need to check this out! It's also like a 3 min drive from my home so win win. First time I went with my friend during the week, great experience everything was great! My parents aren't easy to please but I was confident and brought them on over this Saturday and another home run. We ordered the mozzarella appetizer and also the breaded shrimp appetizer, both were good. Entrees included a burger, shish kabob, prime rib sandwich, and the 18 oz prime rib. Everything was fabulous. The prime rib is perfect, red skin mashed are amazing. Beverages were a little bit of everything, mom loves black coffee but she will do cream and sugar if it's not great, they brought a large mug and she loved it, didn't even need the cream and sugar. The others got fountain drinks (Coke products which are preferred) and free refills which kept coming and was appreciated. I had a Maker's old fashioned, it was classic WI supper club style. I'll now devote an entire paragraph to the wine pours. First visit, I had a glass of the Robert Mondavi Pinot Noir, and was shocked at the pour, very very decent! Ordered the same at my second visit and maybe slightly less shocked but still, great pour! Granted this isn't the Courtyard by Marriott Westbury NY (if you are on TikTok you know what I mean), but this is a hearty pour and basically just all sorts of fabulous. You cannot go wrong with a glass of wine here! Dessert tray comes out after dinner, nice selection to choose from, both times we got a turtle cheesecake which can really do no wrong. Mom got the Dubai style cake, and the guys got vanilla ice cream. They don't make the desserts in house but they are solid options, very very good. Some environmental notes: they have the grill inside for steaks etc, so you do leave smelling a bit like the grill, not off putting to myself much, and I'm very sensitive and have allergies etc. Restrooms were spotless both times, super clean. I don't recall any music but nice conversations hum going on during the busy Saturday night service so had a pleasant volume etc. The building is older, but everything is in really nice shape/condition. You can come casual in jeans and a hoody or a bit more dressed up and feel comfortable either way. I noticed lots of local folks who recognized others in passing and stopped to say hi to each other, really gave it a nice community feel. Long story short, a nice hidden gem local place with a WI supper club feel and a nice sense of community. Solid menu and nicely executed dishes and drinks. Nice service and competitive pricing as well. Highly recommend if you live in town and never tried it, but visitors to Gurnee will feel welcome too!

For dessert we wrapped up with the carrot cake, it's the best I've had in a while! So excited because carrot cake is my favorite cake and to have a Place that has such a good one nearby home is so fun. Overall we had a great experience. The staff was so great with our little one and checked in with us often. The manager/ owner checked in on us halfway through the meal too. It's been a while since we got a table checked and that was a nice experience. Also the steak pit was super fun to see too!
