It was super easy making an appointment and the staff there is beyond friendly and knowledgeable. Chris did a wonderful job. I left feeling very relaxed and informed on next steps. Glad I had a gift certificate to this place because I would have been even unhappier if it had come out of my own pocket. I got a massage from this small Japanese lady, and she was so rough with me. She would make me turn over and roughly toss the sheets on me and things like that. It was all very uncomfortable. The actual massage was too gentle considering I asked for a Deep Tissue massage. There was no ambiance in the room to make it quiet and peaceful either. There was no music, no nice scents, and the room wasn't even dimmed. I can usually fall asleep during massages and looked forward to a much needed nap (since I'm a mom constantly chasing around my little one) - I was disappointed I didn't get a good massage or a good nap. My husband did enjoy his massage. He ended up with a masseuse named Helen. He said she told him exactly what was happening as she was massaging him, and explained to him how it good for his system. However, he did think that his experience was more like something you'd get at a physical therapy place rather than a massage/spa place. Again, it didn't have that relaxed and tranquil ambiance that most people desire when they go to a DaySpa. I will not be back. I'd rather go to those $15 cheap places in Westminster. read more

I've been a happy customer of Bodycentre Day Spa for over four years. I came here because I started having bad acne break outs and needed help fighting this. The results have been fantastic! Not only has my skin cleared up but it looks years younger than my true age. I constantly get compliments about how great my skin looks. Both Spela and Jetzany are great at answering questions and recommending products/other services to help fight acne and keep my skin looking young. There is no high pressure to purchase, either, which makes me feel really comfortable when asking questions. I've brought in a friend who had never had a facial and she was just amazed and how great her skin felt and looked immediately after her session. I have not had a massage here, but I have brought two friends in to have massages and both have enjoyed their sessions thoroughly. The feedback was that the therapist listens to concerns and are great at finding knots and getting rid of them. I would definitely recommend this place to my family and friends. read more

Came here this past weekend for a late massage and I was just not a fan of the massage here. I prefer the Costa Mesa location much, much better. Maybe it is because I got a late massage here or something. *shrug* The walls were thin and you can either hear someone in the other room or Corner Bakery next door, so it was hard to relax in the beginning. I got the deep tissue massage, but it felt more like a relaxation massage or maybe I like pain when it comes to deep tissue. I don't think I will come back to this location, but it was worth a try. She is sweet, caring and attentive. She focused on the main areas that needed attention and made me feel super comfortable. I can already feel a difference and feel so much lighter after. I never noticed it in the shopping center that I visit nearly twice a week (on El Toro, with Pier 1, Home Store, Ralph's, etc.), so when I yelp'd for massage, and found that there was a BodyCentre there, I was really excited -- I have been needing to find an EXCELLENT masseuse for a long time, one that doesn't cost me a small fortune. They were really sweet about changing my appt 2 times on the day of the appt (first because I knew I would be late, next because i couldn't find my car keys!) -- I was suppose to see "Karen" (sorry Karen) but because I had to wait for my husband to bring me my keys (he took them accidentally), I was scheduled with Ruth. The place is very professional, sparkling clean, and very nicely decorately-- perfect really! Now for the best part -- the massage! OMG -- Ruth was fantastic -- she is a "natural", meaning that it's obvious she has been trained (she has the techniques) but not everyone with training has the natural ability to lay hands on a person, and make them....melt. I appreciated the little things too -- like covering my long hair with a towel so the oil doesn't get into my hair, and the bottle of water afterwards. The price is excellent too. I went for the deep tissue massage, and at $65, it is worth every penny. The only problem -- I didn't want it to be over -- next time, I'm going for a longer appt! Ruth -- I'll be back! Hi Kelly, If you check your phone, maybe you would know that I contacted you multiple times and I left voice message on your phone. I assume that my review is clear enough to understand. Instead check with your own masseuses, the additional time taken to read the oil bottle was not added to my massage and the other masseuse was just plain bad. The worst part is that you cancelled our appointment after reading our lake forest review (which was not horrible, its a 2 star). You even left a voice message that you cancelled our costa mesa appointment unless we call you back about the review. This is some crazy bully and scare tactics put on customers, I've never come across any company run like this. I hate to think that you didn't return my calls because you knew that we had just purchased your Yelp deals online for our appointment with the costa mesa branch? Your actions are very aggressive and threatening. The way you handle this is very unprofessional and borderline abusive. You even called my husband to get him to tell me to return your calls. This is just bad business practice; your masseuses are great, the facility is great but the way you handle your customers is extremely unprofessional, almost bully-like. I'm very disappointed with how you handle this whole situation. Unprofessional and childish. You can remove all of our information, I don't want to deal with people that threaten us even we've been with this company for so many years. Your actions provoked the lost of a long time customer, my husband and I have been your customers for over 6 years. I purchased a Groupon and scheduled an appointment to get a massage/facial about 2 years ago. BodyCentre Day Spa had to cancel my appointment due to their scheduling, which I was willing to forgive them for because they were very apologetic. I wasn't able to get in before the promotional value expired due to their canceling my appointment and my hectic work schedule, and I was even willing to forgive them for this and just pay the difference for services because I understood it was as much my fault as it was theirs. For the last couple months I've been trying to get an appointment for a weekend and have spoken to them many times. Most of the time they are very nice and I understand I've been waiting until the last minute to try to get in. This week I called at the beginning of the week, thinking I might have a better chance. The girl (in a very snotty tone) tells me that they only accept Groupons during the week now and not on the weekend. I tried to explain what had happened to her and that nowhere on my Groupon does it state that it can only be used during the week, as often Groupons do differentiate pricing for weekends and such. She says "Well I don't know what to tell you because our system won't even let me book an appointment using a Groupon on the weekends." Okayyyyy... So I tell her I would never have purchased a Groupon I could only use during the week because I work M-F and ask if my only option is to call Groupon and get a refund and she says "Yea, sounds like that'd be your best option." OK, well, guess I will fight with Groupon and wait weeks to hopefully get a refund *crosses fingers* read more

This place is nothing like I expected. It is located in the new shopping center in Lake Forest in between a Corner Bakery and Wasa Sushi. When they have the word "Day Spa" in the title of the company I expected it to be a spa like place. It could be that I have been spoiled by other "Day Spas" but this didn't seem like a spa at all. This place is basically a massage parlor with some skin care treatments. Don't come expecting a sauna, jacuzzi or other spa like amenities. When I walked in there is a tiny waiting room and a long hall way with doors on either side. The massage its self was not bad but not very relaxing. First the music was way off it would change from wales singing in the ocean to tropical music then to elevator music. Next the lighting in the room was way too bright. The worst part is its location, sandwiched in between 2 restaurants. The walls are not insulated for sound at all I could here the people in the restaurant next door talking and banging on the wall. I can imagine this is a problem in any room since all the rooms share a wall with a restaurant. I could also hear the people talking, opening and closing doors, or walking around in the place. Yes it is cheaper than most places but don't go here if you are expecting relaxation. read more

This is my second time visiting this particular location and my fourth time with BodyCentre having visited their Costa Mesa location as well as their Fountain Valley location. Immediately, I can tell you the experience is consistently amazing at every location. From the moment I call in to the moment I leave, the staff at each and every location is warm, inviting, and genuine. As someone who values customer service above all as well as work in customer service, I commend this company for their staff. Particular nod to Alexa at their Fountain Valley location today who went above and beyond to accommodate my last minute plans to book a massage for me and my best friend by going through each location to find me the time that worked best for me as well as the experience I was looking for. As far as my massage goes, Kyoko is hands down one of the best masseuse I have ever experience. She was my very first masseuse with this company and was the reason I was hooked on the experience here. I have received massages from top notch spas and various massage centers in Southern California and continued to be impressed by the quality of the experience here. Sure there isn't as many amenities as Burke Williams or Glen Ivy (which I use to be a frequent client) but the quality of their services is top-notch. Kyoko has won my business for life. Her care and attention to really make sure you leave feeling refreshed is amazing. She even remember my occupation from my last visit and knew what areas troubled me last time and asked if I need to focus on those groups again. That, ladies and gentlemen, is what separates her from the rest. I'm already figuring out when I can return again in my busy schedule. I am only writing about my experience at this place and not trying to damage their business as you can see other clients that got wonderful massages. I know my appointment was with Jennica Waldram and I did not pick up the wrong business card. When I made the appointment, the receptionist said I had an appointment with Jennica. There is only one person by that name. If she was not pregnant, that is my mistake...here is a rewrite... Don't know why their waiting room is just a bench. I got a massage from Jennica Waldram and she must be tired from being a bit chubby. My massage was actually for about 45 minutes so I don't know why I was shorted but I guess she was tired. read more

This review will encompass my general Bodycentre experience thus far, which includes the HB location. However, I will note some differences. "I've found that the Bodycentre Day Spa to be a good alternative to Burke Williams for a massage when I need it. How so? Well it is definitely a no-frills type of spa as indicated by Jennifer M; however, it has always been clean and reliable at a reasonable cost. I could schedule a last minute, late night appointment at a reasonable cost at its many locations. Cleanliness is quite important to me in terms of conveying comfort. Bodycentre has definitely consistently given that level of comfort. There are many treatment rooms and technicians to offer flexibility in scheduling for you. Pros: Price Flexibility Hours Cleanliness Consistent Locations Cons: Not a full service day spa" In this particular location, the parking is not as convenient. The parking is shared with many other businesses, which leads me to the noise factor in the massage rooms. It is higlhy recommended to get a sound proof wall for between the businesses. One can hear the patrons at the restaurant next door during the massage. It is quite a distraction. The music that the facility uses can be distracting as well. I was in there towards the middle of January and a Christmas song was being played during my massage. Though, the restroom and shower in this location has quite a nice relaxing feel to it. read more

Can I just say that Spela is my hero? I've been to pretty shady places (unfortunately) for my bikini waxes, and expensive places that overcharge for their services; but Bodycentre Day Spa is neither of these instances! Spela makes you feel super comfortable, and within a couple minutes you're talking like you're old friends. She's quick, EXTREMELY hygienic, and does exactly what you want... not to much, not too little ;) She's detail oriented and efficient as well! I haven't had problems with making even same day appointments, and the staff is always friendly when you come in! read more

This review is of Bodycentre Day Spa's massage services (since I've already reviewed their facial services): I got the Pure Relaxation massage on my birthday after what had been a particularly stressful year. I'm so glad I did. My massage therapist, Staci Kunesh, was wonderful. She was extremely sweet, warm and professional and made me feel completely comfortable in her hands. She applies just the right amount of strength and pressure and really helps her clients relax and melt into the table. Yes, a REAL massage experience like the one you'll get at BodyCentre Day Spa will be a bit more expensive than some of those cheapie places in Garden Grove but I honestly believe that the difference here is that you're getting an attentive and experienced massage therapist. I feel that a few extra bucks is worth it to get a masseuse that is geniunely interested in healing and helping other, rather than just getting clients in and out as quickly as possible regardless of customer satisfaction. I will absolutely return to Staci and Spela in the future! I can't wait to use the rest of my Gift Certificate! read more

I visited this location for the first time yesterday and was quite impressed. I had a 55 minute relaxation massage from Vicky and she was absoulutely amazing! I've had massages done in the past and she was better (and cheaper) than ones at upscale spas in hotels. Not only did the massage feel longer than 55 minutes she threw in a little cranio sacral which totally opened everything up for me. I read that some people were turned off by the location. If I can get a good quality massage in a clean environment for a reasonable price it can be next to a gas station! Clearly they are able to keep their prices reasonable by having a no frills environment. If you need the hot tub, sauna, and other women strutting around in towels and turbans this isn't the place for you. But, if you want a clean, inexpensive, and effective massage I highly recommend this place. read more

SPELA is an amazing esthetician! She is genuine, professional and knowledgeable and that shows, once you lay down on her table! She offers many different services and uses the product called Epicuren. (a skin care line that produces fundamental health and improvement of you skin.) I went with the European Facial. Just what my skin needed! She evaluated my combination skin, followed by her expertise on keeping up with my future facial regiment. (because I waited 6 months to get a facial)! I left with my skin looking absolutely radiant and glowing! I pre-booked my next appointment with Splea, She recommended products for at home use, to keep up with this new journey of flawless skin! I booked a prenatal massage the day I was due to go into labor. The first half of the massage was great; the music was calming and the massage was very relaxing. But when it came time to turn to the other side, my masseuse began to chit-chat with me. I'm not talking about questions about how I like the massage but more like a therapy session for her as she divulged into some personal details. In any other setting (like maybe if she was my hairdresser and chit chatting is the norm) I wouldn't have minded, but during a massage seemed like the wrong place to be carrying on a conversation. So unfortunately, I wasn't able to enjoy the second half of the massage since most of my energy was spent thinking about what she was saying instead of just relaxing. Maybe I should have just told her that I would prefer to not talk but I felt like that might be rude. I debated writing this review as well since I think her intentions were good, but at the end of the day, I would want to know if a masseuse was a Chatty Cathy as I would have gone elsewhere. read more

I booked a massage here for my husband and I after I found a groupon deal. The place is easy to find and the staff was very pleasant as we checked in. I had Catharine as my therapist and she was beyond great. I told her I had tension in my neck and my feet needed some extra attention. She worked major magic and I literally left feeling as if I was floating. Her room was very calming and relaxing. The smells and mellow music really set the tone. She was very professional and I will 100% be coming back to her on a monthly basis. Even though the massage was only 55min, it was a great little escape. I have had weekly deep tissue massage sessions at Bodycentre Day Spa for the past two months, I couldn't recommend my therapist Mitch more highly. His knowledge and skill far exceeded any expectations I had of a massage therapist. My first session was a gift but the subsequent investment has been more than worth it. Mitch knows how the body works and has custom fit my sessions to proactively address body issues I didn't know I had and help me towards my fitness goals. I leave feeling incredible and my workouts, posture and overall sense of well being improve weekly. The only hesitation I have in writing this review is that others figure out what a gem Mitch is and he will be too booked for me! read more

Ok I've read through a lot of the reviews on here and I wanted to provide my feedback. Yes it doesn't have all the amenities of higher end spas but I still found the place nicely laid out, etc. There is something calming about the way the place is decorated. There are great with appointment flexibility and last minute appointments. Every time I have called they have been nothing but nice and polite. The place is in between 2 restaurants but to be honest when I was there last month I didn't even notice the noise of the places like everyone else seems to commented on. I went there about a month ago (May 2011) and got the "playboy" wax (aka: brazillian) and I was nervous to start out with because well let's face it - we've all heard horror stories. Anyway, Spella was who I saw and she was absolutely fantastic! She kept me distracted by talking to me, and it was sooooo fast! She was done in about 15 minutes and after about 4-5 hours I wasn't sore. I'm going back next week for my second one! I made an appoint today for a massage tonight which will be my first massage there and I'm quite curious about it. I still don't think that I will notice the noise of the other restaurants. read more

SPELA SAVED MY NOSE! I'd never had a facial before and obviously didn't know what I was doing to my skin because I was messing it up! I needed professional help. I was nervous to make a facial appointment with any spa but luckily I came across The BodyCentre on Yelp. The receptionist was sweet and sensed that I was clueless, so she booked me with Spela and told me, "She's the best." Knowing that my nose was soon to be in good hands I was a bit more at ease . . . little did I know, I was about to meet a MIRACLE WORKER! Honestly, not only did Spela cure me but she truly cares about her clients. I was so happy with her work that I showed up the next day just to show her that my nose was on it's way to recovery. She greeted me at the door and was genuinely excited to share in my nose happiness. We did another round of "Oxygen Treatment," which at first I was skeptical of because . . . it's air. But I want more! It works!! I live forty-five minutes from this location, well over an hour with traffic, and I will happily make the commute to visit Spela. Thank you Spela! Ehh, nothing spectacular. Bought the Yelp deal for a facial, then was subsequently upsold to getting an oxygen facial for purifying my pores (yeah, yeah, I know, but I had some seriously clogged pores!). Needless to say, the oxygen facial did nothing for clarifying nothing. And then they said my I had to pay a little extra for the oxygen because of my Yelp deal. The massage could not have lasted for than 2 minutes. Seriously. And I broke out the next day. However, the esthetician tried to be helpful with my questions and and bed and the room were A-OK. Definitely a step up from a nail salon facial. Please extend your massages!! Facials are supposed to be relaxing! read more

Okay, so its been....4.5 years? since I've been with Spela at Bodycenter Day Spa and I have to say she is still** the best out there, bar none. I had a myriad of estheticians over the years and have stuck to her because she has been consistent throughout, her quality of work is unfailing and she holds to a higher standard than what is expected. She constantly works on improving her techniques and is more than willing to try and learn new things, not accepting the status quo. I go to her once a month, and she keeps me in good order. She is also personable, without being cloying, and has a direct and humorous way about her that I jive with. She also does waxing, I have only done bikini-waxes with her and can ascribe to her gentleness and detail. I would highly recommend her @ this location, and can speak for her via experience! My experience at the Bodycentre Day Spa was amazing. I left the salon with glowing, hydrated and squeaky clean skin. I also smelled great ;) The products they use feel organic, herbal, and healthy. I had my skin type evaluation and facial with microdemabrasion done by Spela. She was knowledgeable and attentive to my needs. For years I had been avoiding facials because they made me break out (I have very sensitive, acne prone skin). Sunscreen is another culprit, and avoiding it resulted in my many freckles and uneven skin tone. Spela has addressed all of those issues. The cosmetics she used worked wonders on my skin. The microdemabrasion has helped with the skin tone & clogged pores. Bodycentre Day Spa atmosphere, and neck & face massage felt so relaxing I had to take a nap when I got home :) Today my skin looks glowing and healthy. I will be back for more! read more

I had an opportunity to have a few personal training sessions with Mark. He is extremely knowledgeable and as heavier man (I'm rocking a dad bod), he never makes me feel fat. He is always encouraging me to get that last rep in. He's always ready to answer my nutrition questions and tells me what I can be doing outside the gym to reach my goals. The gym is pretty awesome too! They have a ton of equipment and Mark shows you how to use it properly to maximize your results. I strongly recommend these guys to anyone looking for a down to earth trainer with the heart of a teacher. read more

After my poor experience in January I was contacted by the manager who offered to make it right. I was able to come back this past Thursday and I had a massage with Kyoko. At first I was a little leery but I am glad I learned not to judge a book by it's cover. Don't let her petite frame fool you. This was the massage my body had been dreaming of for months. She had firm pressure and checked in with me occasionally to make sure the pressure was just right. She found all the hidden knots and teased them into submission. My whole body was massaged; no missed glutes and not a knot was left unraveled. I felt fantastic afterwards. When I left I was given the obligatory glass of water, and was thanked by Kyoto. I was happy that this was a good experience because when I left, she was the only person I saw. If I had been unhappy again, there wouldn't have been anyone to speak to about it. I guess they don't have a receptionist or on site manager. The noise from the restaurant next door is still there and will never go away and I wish the music had been a little louder to cover some of it. read more

This is my favorite place in town to get a massage. I tried other places because they were cheaper, but they weren't as good, so I don't mind paying extra. I purchased a Groupon deal not knowing you had to be a first customer, but they honored it anyway. I usually see Stacey K., but she was unavailable. Stacey was able to work out my pain and she has great pressure. Today, I got a massage from Gail - it was my first with an aromatherapy massage. She used Grapefruit and Lavendar. My girlfriend is having a ton of backpain. I already had 2 groupons for BodyCentre. Called to book a session. Got 2 appointments, no problem. But when they found out that I was using a Groupon, they told me I was not able to redeem them, because their therapists wouldn't accept them. Ended up talking to the owner. Not a pleasant experience. She really needs to read up on customer service, and learn that contracts are contracts. Sometimes you have to eat a little bit of the margin to ensure that the people you are in a contract with, don't feel cheated. Like me. I'm not interested in supporting a business that doesn't honor their promises. Also, hanging up on a client who is speaking in a civil tone, and asking you a reasonable question is not appropriate, and is indicative of a lack of logic in your position. read more
