For a Monday night and a restaurant open 24 hours a day, I was surprised how many people were waiting to eat here. After a 15 minute wait, our party of three were seated and our server was ready to take our order. Each person in my party ordered a different Soon Tofu: kimchi, vegetable and seafood and a galbi. Although the Kimchi Soon Tofu was good, I really liked the taste of the Vegetable Soon Tofu. Above all, the star of the show were the Ban Chans with my favorites being the mashed potato salad, spinach, cucumber, and fish cake. Moreover (and this is the best part), a gal with a trolley of ban chans comes by your table every 5 minutes and asks which ban chans you'd like refills on. WOW! Although the servers don't appear to speak much English, they come around often and ask how things are. Apparently, the two restaurants next to BCD have vacated and there are signs that indicate that BCD will be taking over. read more

This was exactly what I needed. Loved every bit of my experience here. I liked what I had and the banchan was so good; they were refilled through the night. MY bro got the spicy bulgogi combo and I got the galbi combo. Both were yummy! I ate mines all and we took the bulgogi home, which was still good a day later. know people say there's better places (as other reviewers would say) but this was good enough for me. Not picky at all. Decided to try their spicy pork bulgogi. It looked very good when it came to the table but was very greasy at the bottom. It tasted very good but I felt like I was wasting food because I didn't want to eat the greasy portion. As for their sides, I really enjoyed the potato salad but was not expecting their to be pieces of apple in it. Interesting combo. I also enjoyed their side of kimchi and a kimchi noodle dish. All in all, the service was good as they kept the sides coming. Only giving a 4/5 starts due to the greasy dish but I would want to go back to try their garlic tofu bites thing and their fried kimchi dumplings. read more

I came here with some friends after a night of drinking. When you involve drinking and dancing that usually means a late night snack. Thank goodness this place is open 24/7 cause we were seriously craving Korean. I got the seafood soon tofu, which was surprisingly spicy! I definitely enjoyed the spicy surprise, and the raw egg that came with it. Unfortunately not all of us got to enjoy the meal lol. A friend of mine had too many to drink, so we decided to eat his serving . The more tofu the better. The ambiance was nice and the waitress was super sweet. BCD's pretty hyped up and has built quite a reputation for itself with all of the kpop stars and Korean celebrities seen at this place. The food is really good and I love their banchan too! Other Korean tofu places have whatever banchan, but man, I could eat BCD's banchan alone as a meal... Pricing is bumped up a little but it's not outrageous and I still think it's totally worth it. Usually there's a wait on top of the disgusting parking situation, but this place is 24 hours so I have some pretty good memories of coming here in the middle of the night with nobody around :^) read more

The food here always hits the spot on Sunday when we go. The prices have gone up a couple of bucks and I fore see it going higher later but it will still be worth the price up to the 15 or 16 dollar point (if they keep the food quality and quantity the same). They have good kimchi banchan. And their fish cake is one of the best I have had, I think it is their own recipe as the texture and firmness of it is one that I have not encountered elsewhere. The wait is a bit long on weekends but they turnover fast and there is a lot to visit at that location so if you time it right, you can do a little window shopping and return just in time for seating. Parking is a bit rough here, so I recommend going across the entry path for the Korean market where there is an extra lot for parking. Then walk over. read more

Water cup had a lipstick stain on it, gross. I swear the food doesn't taste as good as before... I always order kimchee tofu with beef-spicy: and it is really bland. I like it when they use real fermented kimchee in this, but I think they use fresh kimchee because they are so busy?! And their spicy pork has spicy flavor but the meat itself is not well marinated. im really so sad to write this review, bc i usually love bcd and their food always hits the spot but unfortunately cannot say that anymore. idk if it was just a bad day/time, but we went on a monday ~11pm-midnight (pretty late but should be well after dinner rush) and it was around half filled (so not too busy at all). we were seated very fast for table of 2. we ordered the assorted soondubu and a seafood pancake. i had never tried the seafood pancake before and always opt for galbi, but the picture looked SO good with tons of various seafood on top. BIG MISTAKE. sides came pretty fast and so did the tofu soup! but, the seafood pancake came out and we tried a bite each but couldn't taste any seafood. maybe a bad bite, so we tried another bite - still none? so we started digging through the other pancake slices to see if the others had any and there wasn't a SINGLE seafood to be found. fine - maybe they just forgot to add seafood to the batter when frying it! we called over our waiter to ask him if what we had was the seafood pancake and he literally tried to gaslight us saying that a small crust was a "shrimp". we showed him the broken up pieces and told him we couldn't find any and he just said "that's just how it is" and walked away ??? my boyfriend had to call another waiter and let him know our concern and said that if they could find a single piece of seafood, we'd be totally okay, and the waiter graciously sent it back. we ended up getting a replacement, which we were grateful for. the seafood pancake still was alright, very crispy but lacked seafood despite being sent back (provably found one mini shrimp and some small octopus bits but hey at least there was one shrimp this time). for the rest of service, our original waiter never came back to fill up our water, replenish banchan sides, and avoided only our table. i get it, it might be a little awkward but it's OKAY just own up to it and it was never personal, we just wanted some seafood that we paid for. we had to request the check from someone else, and tbh might be last time i come back. sad... ill just stick to the bcd soup packets now :( read more

The food is super yummy, and I like that they offer a free little fried fish. I order the galbi combo with kimchi stew and it's pretty standard. I would say the galbi is the most worth your money on the menu and is super flavorful. In terms of service, not really too happy. Just seems like all the workers are simply just trying to make it through the day with putting in as little effort as possible so they can get paid at the end of the day. It really makes it hard for me to wanna tip them. Not even a smile or a thank you or even a word when they drop off your food or the check. The only reason I'll keep coming back is for the food, but it makes it less enjoyable when the staff could really care less about how they serve you. read more

Last time my dolsot (hot rice pot) rice was not toasted at all and the server poured too much water so it was basically hot water soup. The side dish fried fish was cold and soggy. I was sat in a table behind the sign in list, and had people coughing at us, standing next to our empty seat staring at us...we asked to move immediately, but was told because our order was jist placed in the P.O.S we could NOT be moved..ok Had to tell people to give us space and not stare or cough on us several times...oh well, next time tell them NO UP FRONT SEATING after already waiting an hour on a Friday night... If you don't think BCD deserves more than 5 stars than you probably don't like Soon Doo Bu. Before BCD, Soon Doo Bu was not a dish that a restaurant specialized in - even in Korea. Back then, no one ever went out to a Soon Doo Bu restaurant because it just didn't exist. But after BCD, you see plenty of knock offs and everyone trying to copy these guys. BCD is so iconic in the Korean restaurant scene, when people from Korea come to visit the States, they want to try BCD. That said, when you visit this location you'll notice how much people love this place. It is always packed with a long wait to get a table. It got so busy here in fact, that they bought out the Thai restaurant next door just to expand their restaurant two-fold. And even with the expansion, the wait is still close to an hour on the weekends! My family loves this place and the only complaint we have is that they don't have another location in Irvine. read more

This is my go to place after a late night outing since it's opened 24 hours. Service is efficient, not necessarily friendly, but i'll take the former any day of the week. Food is fresh regardless of the time you go, but you do have to deal with the wait and loudness of the restaurant itself. Everyone is running around with carts to refill the side dishes or drop off plates full of hot soup. Between 2-3 people, I usually get a combo and a soup and that runs me about $38 with tax and tip. read more

The rice is served in hot clay pots which the servers can fill with I think water/broth to make a finger at the end. We didn't have enough room to eat that but it was a cool concept! the food is great don't get me wrong but everytime I I order online from this place, they find a new way of messing up my order. The first time they charged me twice and I couldn't get a refund. The second time they had a specific time in which the order was meant to be ready and when I came they weren't even close (I came about 45 minutes after ordering online and on time to the estimated time of when it should have been ready). This third time, I gave them plenty of extra time, coming 30 minutes past the estimated time and when I came they didn't even start my order. They said that they didn't get the order until I came. It took an hour after the estimated time for them to finish and they kept telling me it would only take max 20 minutes. The service I received each time during these mistakes were the worst and most frustrating interactions. And for the online ordering I've tried using the one from their website, playmates, and caviar. read more

My combo soup has lots of good pieces of beef slices, 2 shrimps and 2 clams. Also ordered bbq ribs. The only thing is I feel like they put lots of sugar in the soup and bbq. This place was really good and the service was really good too. This was my first time here and I got tofu and rice and veggies in a hot stone bowl! I loved it but towards the end of my meal I found 3 hairs that were not mine, in my food. This obviously made me lose my appetite after seeing three hairs in my food. I see other reviews that say the same thing, so I'm hoping they do a better job at being cautious about this kind of thing.
