We've been regulars at this place since 2016. They probably just changed management, and the change is definitely noticeable. 1) The food is not nearly as good as it used to be. I ordered a squid stir fry, which is one of the most expensive items on the menu ($25), and it was mostly zucchini and cabbage. Not very flavorful either. We normally take leftovers home with us--not this time. 2) They REALLY need to work on their service. My main dish arrived a good 25-30 minutes after a family member at my table was already DONE eating theirs. All main dishes should arrive around THE SAME TIME. And by the way, it's not that the restaurant was full: only 2 tables, including ours, had customers. However, while I was waiting for my food, at least half a dozen people came to pick up food to go (probably for delivery services, like UberEats and the such). I feel that customers that are IN THE RESTAURANT should be given priority over those who are not. It's a shame, because we really used to like this place. read more

I've only stopped by here twice in the last 2 months (1st time around only looked at the menu) and on each occasion there were ZERO customers dining in, which is a telltale sign of a bad restaurant. Tonight, I sat in for dinner as a party of 2 around 6PM. The owners were eating in one corner with the wait staff and there was no one else around. The owner lady stood over our shoulder while we examined the menu, suggesting we try this or that and how they are known for their K-BBQ. We got the yookgaejang (spicy beef soup) and spicy pork (jeyook) rice bowl both $10.99. It probably took a good 15 minutes (felt like a long wait) before our main dishes came out, which I found to be strange since they didn't appear busy at all. The dining table surface was sticky/unclean or not wiped in a while, and the utensils we were served felt slightly sticky as well. The server set us up with 5 banchan with 3/5 of them being SUPER SPICY (red chili flakes). The biggest disappointment was the Yookgaejang however, which literally tasted like Chinese hot pot mala soup base you can buy at the Asian supermarket (we even found whole peppercorns) and chock full of MSG. The beef was not the traditional cut used for this soup, and it had freaking MUSHROOMS floating around (which is not supposed to be there). My poor mom was too polite to complain about her order even though it was also insanely spicy but it was seriously the worst faux "yookgaejang" we've ever had. I got the sense that the only patrons of this place are people who don't know what authentic Korean food is supposed to taste like. They do a lot of takeout by Uber. My rice bowl was decent. But if a Korean restaurant can't get their soups right, I don't know what they're doing in the kitchen. I told the owner lady how bad the Yookgaejang was and she claimed the taste is because it's "fusion" and cast blame on the chef cuz she doesn't know. The chef is her husband, who happened to step out when I was talking. He apologized but didn't disclose what they did to make the soup taste that awful way and said some other person in the kitchen "made a lot of it". He offered a discount, but his wife refused and they'd already swiped my card. Bad service considering the owner lady boasted how great XYZ on their menu is before we ordered and how she wouldn't take our money if something tasted bad. I ordered delivery from this place through UberEats. I ordered Wang Kalbi Tang (), Jjajangmyeon (), and Seafood Pancake (). Overall, the flavors were decent. We were, however, not expecting the taste to be non-traditional, hybrid. We also waited an additional 45 minutes for this food to be delivered by no fault of the driver--I was keeping up-to-date with the food tracker every 5 minutes. The Jjajangmyeon was watery and bland. The noodles felt like spaghetti, but maybe that was caused by the in-transit container steam. The Seafood Pancake was too soft, soggy, and bloated. It should be thin, crispy, and chewy. Furthermore, there was nowhere near enough sauce for the pancakes. The Wang Kalbi Tang was delicious and well-made. The meat was nice, tender, and plentiful. The soup could have used a bit more seasoning. The side dishes () were disappointing. We were satisfied with neither the taste nor the variety. The standard cabbage kimchi () was nowhere to be seen. Loved the side dishes that come with every order(I am guessing that they come with every order). They were interesting! My main dish was a seafood bibimbap. It was served in a heavy stone bowl and the food was piping hot. I coughed for a couple of minutes because of the fumes from the dish. It was soooooperrr hot. I set the dish aside for a few minutes and slowly worked on the soup and the side dishes. They were all delicious! By the time I returned to my main dish, it was still very hot to eat. And the most disappointing part was that most of the rice got burnt and stuck to the bottom of the dish. I didn't understand why they had to serve it so bizarrely hot! Whatever was left in the bowl and not burnt made a decent meal. I ended the dinner with a complimentary yogurt drink. It was good. Overall, it was an interesting experience. From the moment we walked in the people working were very friendly. We got all you can eat , but could hardly finish the 4 meats we had because of how much food they give you. This was my first time trying tteokbokki and it's now one of my favorite foods! All the side dishes were amazing, especially the kimchi! The person I was with decided to order fries and I wasn't expecting them to be very good compared to everything else we had gotten but these are hands down the best fries I've ever tasted. Their side dishes are americanized enough that I actually ate several of them. As in, I usually eschew the dried anchovies, fish cakes, etc. Faves were there like japchae, the mayo potato salad, broccoli, and spicy cucumber....mmm. I've had the galbi dolsot bibimbap (s'alright, will hit the spot) and the soondobu (flavored very nicely) with beef. I've tasted their jampong (huge). Korean coworkers like this place and we've been pretty happy so I would recommend it! They have shabu-shabu which I have yet to try, but one of these days! Update April 2016: Came back again for different dishes. Updating the food, stars remain the same. - Soondubu: it was OK. Wasn't giving a choice for how spicy I wanted and it was just at the threshold for me. No egg to drop in. The soup base was...pedestrian. If you want Soondubu I still recommend Lighthouse in Ellicott City. - Marinated beef: the lowest cost beef BBQ dish on the menu, and once again because it was a single order they cooked it in the back. As always the BBQ was excellent. Banchan is awesome as always. Oh and rice is now not porridge wet and actually pretty OK. Update December 2015: Came back to check out different foods. And I'm further deducting a star based on this experience. - Beef skewer: only ordered one so it was cooked in the back without any regard for my preference. The meat was not only the saltiest thing I've ever tasted, the meat chewed like leather, and it sucked A LOT. My advice: steer away from the skewers if you're not cooking yourself (I think you need to order at least two or three to get the honor of cooking it yourself). - Shabu Shabu: had both pork and beef. Pork was good, but beef once again disappointed. Not only was the portion tiny for the price, the small tiny slices they served shrank into oblivion and despite the thin slice was also tough to chew on. If you want hotpot, don't come here. Banchan was, once again, the shining star of the meal. They refused to refill the vermicelli and pancake banchan, which I think is kind of stingy. Rice: once again way too moist, a little more moisture and you're talking porridge. In conclusion: come here for the BBQ, banchan, and be happy. read more

Checked this place out on August 5th (via DoorDash). My wife got the Bulgogi and I got the Pork Belly BBQ. She liked her Bulgogi a lot, seasoning and spices were on point, just melt in your mouth goodness. BUT.... I got something extra in my Pork Belly BBQ, something I did not order nor would. Hair. Not just one strand mind you but THREE. Hair. In my food. gross. But that aside, before discovering the folicles, I enjoyed the pork belly, but nowhere near enough sauce. Was it supposed to be Korean BBQ sauce to come with it? I am a sauce lover, gotta have sauce. We tried 'em again on the 13th, you know I try to be fair and give a place a second chance. We both got the Bulgogi and all was well with the world. This meal, as before, was seasoned well and melted in your mouth. We also had the Kimchee and a few other sides, they were delicious in their own right. Overall the quality (let's forget the hair for a moment) was good and consistent for each visit. This place is so delicious! As a Korean, I am pretty picky when it comes to Korean food, and Be-One is amazing! Their meat is so flavorful and reasonably priced. I've had their bulgogi, spicy pork, and kalbi. The banchan (side dishes) are very fresh and flavorful. I've also had several different soups and they're all on point!! Hmm how to review this place. I really liked the selection of banchan. Seafood pancake was thiccc (relative to other ones that I've had before) but quite good. The barbecue items that we got were quite good (galbi, bulgogi) but the grill was a smooth, tilted surface without a lot of drainage so a lot of the liquid remained around the meat and caused the texture to be a little off. I have two issues with how they treat their customers. First, the person, who I assume is the owner, refused to change our table when the built-in grill is broken and give us a portable one. She set up quiet dangerously, and I had to told her to fix the orientation of the grill so it won't point toward my wife. In addition, when the meat is arrived at the table, the staffs - especially the owner lady - just throw everything onto the grill, and that's kinda rude. Craving gamjatang but with Nak Won closed, we decided to try out Be-One's take on the Korean pork bone soup. We went for lunch, and appreciated that the restaurant had cheaper prices for lunch than if we had gone for dinner. Service was reasonably fast, and we feasted on a varied banchan selection as we waited for our main course. The gamjatang was very hearty, containing pork neck bones that were loaded with meat and delicious pieces of potato. It was spicier than some of the gamjatang dishes that we have tried at other places, and the waiter informed us that the spice level cannot be individualized, so beware if you cannot handle spicy foods. We ate until we were stuffed to the brim. Overall, service was great, food was good, and prices were reasonable. We will definitely visit Be-One again in the future whenever we are craving Korean foods! read more

Stopped in at Be-One Korean BBQ for a late dinner last night at around 9:30pm, this was a first time visit. We had gone out for a show and had not eaten dinner yet so we were hungry! This place is a gem. We were greeted immediately, looked over the menus and were seated quickly. The hostess was very friendly. Our waitress explained the dishes to us and we ordered. The bonchon came out quickly and WOW what a great assortment. Marinated tofu, eggplant, fish cake, green beans with sesame, marinated cucumbers ... there were 9 or 10 choices. They were all delicious. I ordered soup with dumplings and rice cakes. The rice cakes were new for me. I forget the menu name for the soup that I ordered. The partner ordered a dish called Galbi Dolsot which was beef, vegetables and rice. The main course came out quickly and the presentation was perfect. The soup with bubbling hot and the dolsot was steaming. Once they cooled down a bit both main course dishes were perfect. At the end of the meal we got one of the little desert yogurt drinks - again, yum. The service here was excellent. Everyone was very friendly. You didn't have to ask for drink refills. The hostess and server both told us to come back again. Atmosphere was exactly what you would expect - interesting signage hanging around the restaurant advertising dishes & specials. While visiting Baltimore, I made the mistake of watching some Korean food videos on YouTube late in the evening. The topic of the particular video was bibimbhap, at the source, in JeonJu, Korea. I was ravenous by the end of the video, jones-ing for a dish I don't normally eat when I go out for Korean food. With all that grilled meat, who has space for mixed rice with veggies? After a quick Yelp search, I found Be-One Korean BBQ was open, and located very near another place I had visited, Nam Kang. Be-One has the advantage of a parking lot, and even later hours than some of the other Korean restaurants. Their regular bibimbhap (I don't like the hot dolsot bowl) was fantastic, with huge amounts of delicious Korean veggies, including a big helping of lettuce. The lettuce, which I haven't seen before in bibimbhap, gave the entire dish a crisp and fresh texture and flavor. The bahn chan was varied, tasty, and generous. Here's the key revelation in this late-night, maiden visit to Be-One: their dwenjahng chigae was excellent. Dwenjahng chigae is the traditional test of a Korean restaurant, if they can make authentic, tasty dwenjahng chigae, you have a legit Korean establishment. Be-One's dwenjahng chigae was so good, it was worth the trip on its own. I wouldn't normally recommend eating a bibimbhap, a dwenjahng chigae, lots of bahn chan, and drinking a whole bottle of soju on your own, but like I said, the bibimbhap video made me super hungry at 11:30pm. I was a very happy camper by the end of the meal. BTW, the service was excellent too, from the two young Korean staff on duty. SIDEBAR: a little after midnight, a raucous group of Chinese diners came in and ordered a ton of food. I have to admit I was amused by the wait staff and the guests communicating with each other in English, which was clearly not the first language of either party. read more

Favorite Korean restaurant in Baltimore! First off, I dig all of the ban chan and they always seem to switch it up with some new items overtime I've gone. What's really funny is that we ended up getting our main meals before our appetizers, and they came out not 5 minutes after we ordered! The dolsot bibimbap is a great choice- you really can't go wrong with that! Large portion filled with meat and tons of delicious veggies! The bulgogi was awesome: good portion, nice and tender, with the flavor soaking right through the meat. After we had been chowing down on our main meals, our apps finally come out: the large seafood pancake and an order of kimbap. Holy cannoli, that seafood pancake is massive!!! But so magical. I think I overdosed on sodium with the sauce it comes with, but I have no regrets. The kimbap was nice and simple. I mean it was good, but with so many other bold flavors on the menu, I probably wouldn't order it again. Overall, good flavorful food and I can pretty much guarantee you will leave stuffed. Oh. My. God. I've been on the search for some good Asian food in Baltimore and I think I've FINALLY found it! I used to hate dreading driving all the way to Cantonsville or Ellicot City to get decent food but now I can stay right here in Baltimore. There's call bells so you don't have to scream "yogiyo" to get the servers attention. Everything comes with a bowl of rice and side dishes. The side dishes - holy moly you get SO many and of course the free refills. I personally like the Kimchi, Beansprouts, Broccoli, seaweed salad and potato salad. Yumm. On to the food, I tried the: Seafood Soondubu - The soup is super flavorful and tasty. It has this bright red appearance that makes it look incredibly spicy but it's actually mild. You get plenty of seafood as well. Brisket - You get cabbage and sauces (sesame oil, pepper and salt + I think it's bean paste sauce) along with the meat. The meat for me was precooked. I thought it was decent, I've had better places in California. It could have done with more flavor and was a little dry. Fried Chicken - I would skip out on this. The chicken was pretty dry and the only flavor I could taste was salt. It also took a pretty long time to come out so my friend had to wait a while, while the rest of us already had our dishes. :/ Overall highly recommend! I would say BeOne has improved a lot in the past few years, we experienced very bad service a couple of years before and decided never to come back, until when a friend was visiting and picked here for lunch. Everything was much better than before. There are a lot more small dish items, price has not increased much but service is much better. The food is still delicious, we love seafood pancake, kalbi tang, pork neck soup and seafood noodle soup. For around 10-15 bucks, you can enjoy a nice and decent lunch. Their Korean BBQ is more expensive and would suit better for larger group of people (4+) though. After a few times of visit recently, this place is back to our top Korean food choice in the area :-) read more

The mom and pop welcomed us in for late lunch, even though it seemed like they were doing something else or relaxing before we came in. We asked for refills on some of the side dishes and they were brought out with a smile and without hesitation. Our entrees were tasty. DO NOT COME HERE. I would give this place negative stars if I could. I have never in my life had KBBQ as bad as Be One. Honestly, this is probably the WORST "restaurant" I've ever been to PERIOD. My friends and I walked in on a Thursday evening, and we decided to get All You Can Eat, with the expectation that we would be able to order any meat on the All You Can Eat menu, but within two minutes of giving us our menus, the owner came to our table, pushing us to get her recommendations: the cheapest meat on the menu. Before we could say a word, she told us that she would charge us 30% of the original and walked off. To be clear, she wanted to charge us for food we didn't choose to order. Then the side dishes came, which are usually served free of charge at ANY Korean restaurant, and the dishes were TINY. I am not exaggerating when I say there were three pieces of kimchi in the dish, three pieces of chicken, and two pieces of tteokbokki, and apparently they charge extra for more. The tiny portions of banchan did not taste good. Then came the 4 selections of meat that the owner chose, which to be frank, looked like SCRAPS from a butcher shop. They were COMPLETELY fat. We cooked the brisket, and unsurprisingly, it was so fatty that we could not chew it. When we told the owner that it was inedible, the owner accused us of being full and not able to finish. (Keep in mind that we had just started.) She then rudely argued that the meat was supposed to fatty and that we just didn't know. We then decided to order rib eye instead, hoping that a meat of our selection would be edible, but the waitress came back and said they had none, so we cooked the bulgogi that the owner had brought out, only to find out that it, too, did not taste good. Fearing that the owner would charge us for the bulgogi, we tried to eat it, but only ended up having about a fourth. At this point, we were pretty miserable. The food was inedible, we were starving, and the customer service we received from the owner was nasty. The owner came back to check on us, and when we asked if they had any meat that wasn't 80% fat (I'm also not one to ever complain at a restaurant but this was absolutely ridiculous), she shrugged and said that there's nothing she could do. Then she started raising her voice at us saying that they had the best prices and that we didn't know what we were talking about. As Koreans who regularly eat KBBQ, we knew that the meat was definitely NOT what it was supposed to look or taste like. After being yelled at for a good ten minutes, she coldly suggested that we could order something different. We told her that we had come to eat meat not soup, and then we didn't understand why we should pay the full All You Can Eat price after eating no meat. She said that because she served rice and banchan (tiny and disgusting) we had to pay for everything. After more hostile arguing, she said she would charge the full bulgogi price since we ate a little bit of it. Then she stormed back, muttering in Korean, thinking we wouldn't understand her, that we were bad luck and that we should just leave. Instead of ordering an alternative dish, we then decided to go to a Korean restaurant down the street (Kong Pocha) which was a MUCH better experience. As we were paying, the owner came back to tell us to leave because they were closing early. Safe to say, I will NOT be returning here, and STRONGLY suggest that you don't either. Terrible food and even worse customer service (except our waitress who was pretty nice). All of the good review here must be from the previous management because this one is TERRIBLE.
