DO NOT COME HERE. I would give this place negative stars if I could. I have never in my life had KBBQ as bad as Be One. Honestly, this is probably the WORST "restaurant" I've ever been to PERIOD. My friends and I walked in on a Thursday evening, and we decided to get All You Can Eat, with the expectation that we would be able to order any meat on the All You Can Eat menu, but within two minutes of giving us our menus, the owner came to our table, pushing us to get her recommendations: the cheapest meat on the menu. Before we could say a word, she told us that she would charge us 30% of the original and walked off. To be clear, she wanted to charge us for food we didn't choose to order. Then the side dishes came, which are usually served free of charge at ANY Korean restaurant, and the dishes were TINY. I am not exaggerating when I say there were three pieces of kimchi in the dish, three pieces of chicken, and two pieces of tteokbokki, and apparently they charge extra for more. The tiny portions of banchan did not taste good. Then came the 4 selections of meat that the owner chose, which to be frank, looked like SCRAPS from a butcher shop. They were COMPLETELY fat. We cooked the brisket, and unsurprisingly, it was so fatty that we could not chew it. When we told the owner that it was inedible, the owner accused us of being full and not able to finish. (Keep in mind that we had just started.) She then rudely argued that the meat was supposed to fatty and that we just didn't know. We then decided to order rib eye instead, hoping that a meat of our selection would be edible, but the waitress came back and said they had none, so we cooked the bulgogi that the owner had brought out, only to find out that it, too, did not taste good. Fearing that the owner would charge us for the bulgogi, we tried to eat it, but only ended up having about a fourth. At this point, we were pretty miserable. The food was inedible, we were starving, and the customer service we received from the owner was nasty. The owner came back to check on us, and when we asked if they had any meat that wasn't 80% fat (I'm also not one to ever complain at a restaurant but this was absolutely ridiculous), she shrugged and said that there's nothing she could do. Then she started raising her voice at us saying that they had the best prices and that we didn't know what we were talking about. As Koreans who regularly eat KBBQ, we knew that the meat was definitely NOT what it was supposed to look or taste like. After being yelled at for a good ten minutes, she coldly suggested that we could order something different. We told her that we had come to eat meat not soup, and then we didn't understand why we should pay the full All You Can Eat price after eating no meat. She said that because she served rice and banchan (tiny and disgusting) we had to pay for everything. After more hostile arguing, she said she would charge the full bulgogi price since we ate a little bit of it. Then she stormed back, muttering in Korean, thinking we wouldn't understand her, that we were bad luck and that we should just leave. Instead of ordering an alternative dish, we then decided to go to a Korean restaurant down the street (Kong Pocha) which was a MUCH better experience. As we were paying, the owner came back to tell us to leave because they were closing early. Safe to say, I will NOT be returning here, and STRONGLY suggest that you don't either. Terrible food and even worse customer service (except our waitress who was pretty nice). All of the good review here must be from the previous management because this one is TERRIBLE. So glad there are a few Korean restaurant gems in Baltimore, and that this is one of them. I got spicy tofu soup and the banchan appetizers and I was pleased it was not mediocre. The Korean community in-city is now pretty small, so I was pleasantly surprised there was a good place in town. Plus I was impressed with how much appetizer they were willing to give one person. A few caveats: my seafood and beef tofu soup was very good, though I was slightly miffed that they included imitation crab. (Not generally a thing with that type of soup.) I thought the prices for the non-barbeque items were very fair. However, they charge an arm and a leg for barbeque. They have a monopoly, so I can't really blame them. That's not gonna stop me from coming back though, because I know the market for Korean restaurants is small here. So all in all, good, but not great for the price for some items. Update: Gone back several times and I'm now of the mind that the price for the BBQ is worth it if you stick to the $20 options and go with a group! read more

Kimchi jjigae was so good I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting or living in the city. They forgot my friends shrimp in their fried rice however the lady on the phone was super friendly and told us the next time we order we can get free dumplings or another appetizer. Price and taste are amazing and top jjigae's I've had so far. This place has pretty decent Korean food. There are soooo many Korean places in this one area- so its extremely hard to pick which one to go to. I do like the panchan's they give you over any of the other Korean places. They give A LOT and also a great variety of them. We ordered the seafood pancake and the Kimchi pancake (both really good prices compared to the other places). However the pancake itself was a little too thick with the dough. But I do think thats more preference. It was crispy and filled with a lot of seafood. I think I actually like the kimchi pancake better because it had really good flavor. Next we also ordered this dish (honestly cannot remember what its called), but it contained noodles, sausages, and other stuff. The soup tasted AWESOME. We actually saw someone's picture of it and that's what made us come here. It was a HUGE portion too.... we even took it home and still could not finish it ! I do wish they come with smaller sizes because it was also pretty pricey, and I didn't think the ingredients they put into the soup was pricey to make. Other than that, pretty good experience. We had awesome service too. I mean yes they don't speak very good english- but they were super accommodating and helped us served our dish as well (as it was very large and overpouring). The Korean food here is done consistently well compared to it's many local competitors. Not every dish is as satisfying as the last but for the most part they do it right. Korean BBQ is getting pricey all across the board in this area, so it has to be at least fresh for me to walk away happy. The meat is not grilled on charcoal so it doesn't have that really nice smokey BBQ flavor, but good nonetheless because it's always been fresh. Sheer laziness is probably the only reason that I continue to eat BBQ outside of the comfort of my own home where I could feed at least 4 people for the price of one BBQ order. It's also nice not to have to do a million dishes and clean up pork belly grease from off the countertops lol. If you're super picky about your Korean food you will drive to Ellicott, but who's got time for that?! This place is your best bet in the Baltimore region. Although, the service could use some help. They always seem understaffed and if it's busy, you won't see them coming back to check up on you or refill your water/hot tea. Take my advice and either politely wave someone over or hit the call button on the table or you will be there all night. My favorite thing about this place is the complimentary panchan (side dishes) and the amount that they give you. I rarely ever have to ask for second helpings and they are all really fresh and tasty. You really can't go wrong with most everything on the menu, but I had one mediocre experience with the soon doobu soup (don't order the one with beef, it's always better with seafood). My absolute go-to is the jjambbong!! It's wondrously spicy and packed with seafood, plus the noodles are the perfect consistency. You must try it..I'm not kidding. On the other hand the dolsot bibimbap would be better if they actually cooked the rice inside of the pot. It always tastes like it's lacking depth because of this small step, but it's hard to find a place that does this these days sigh. Y'alls. I think this may be one of my favorite Korean spots in the...WORLD. Yup, that's right. Even thinking about places in Korea and other cities with larger K-towns than Baltimore. I always come back to BeOne and think about how amazing it is. There are many, MANY, banchan, and the ladies will give you more if you gobble them all up once you are seated. The service is great--there's even a button for you to push if you need someone's attention. I've brought my parents here, my work friends here, my best friends here, my hungry-a** self here. I came here once a week when I was stressed out from studying for my boards, I came here when I felt homesick, and I came here when I just wanted deliciously, belly-sticking, Korean food. Fine, if you are looking for BBQ, this may not be the spot for you. Large group-BBQ is better out in the county. You gotta realize that Koreans don't do BBQ except for on special occasions and it's not really everyday food. Out of all the Korean places in Baltimore, Be One has probably one of the best seafood noodle soups. My go-to comfort food is galbi dolsot bibimbap (I love gochujang). The rice crackles pretty well at the bottom, although sometimes too much sesame oil is added. S'okay with me, though! Did I mention how much I love gochujang? Still plan on trying the hotpot, but if you're looking for barbecue, I would suggest to get a table with a built-in grill, because the barbecue dishes and flavor of the marinades straight from the kitchen can't be compared to the ones smoked in front of you. I have to say that their banchan (side dishes) really shine. Every time I've gone, the side dishes for are consistently delicious and varied. Japchae and kimchi are great. Service is the traditional diner feel - brusquely attentive. Like with most other Korean places, you're given the complimentary sweet yogurt drink after your meal, and the smell of Korean food will saturate your clothing so wear something that you're comfortable with smelling like meat. Very mediocre bbq and below average cold noodles (naeng myun). I had jjamppong for lunch today and it was probably worst i have had in my life. Way too salty and not much squid or seafood in it. It was wayyyyy too salty tho i almost thought it might have been a mistakenly double or triple salted. The staff wasnt the friendliest and I didnt wanna cause a scene so i left it alone. I like this place. It is the only place in the area I know of that has grills and vents on the tables. It has ample space and is in a strip mall. This is important because the area is extremely sketchy and going to some of the other restaurants, parking can feel dicey. First off I thought they had good value, between 4 of us we ordered 3 soups, a fried chicken, beers and soju and the bill with tip came to $20 a person. Not bad at all. Second, they were good about refilling water, bon chon and napkins. Third, the bathrooms were clean (you laugh, but compare to some of the competition in the area). I ordered a seafood soup, with squid, octopus, and a bizarre unknown fish (I lack the sophisticated palate). My co-worker ordered a short rib soup, and my other co-worker ordered a gigantic plate of deep fried pork with a sweet dipping sauce. I have never had tried Korean food before, but took a chance on this location in a low end strip mall (the "grocery store" has armed security guards), which happens to be across the street from my place of employment. The bathroom was very clean, per my co-worker who ranks restaurants on the cleanliness of their bathrooms. They offered a ton a free appetizers, and I ordered a shared appetizer of tasty dumplings. We really enjoyed our experience, since they constantly refilled our water. Their portions were gigantic, enough for three meals for each person. My dish was the ultimate Korean version of chicken soup. They prepared my soup without garlic (which I am highly allergic to) and spiced it lightly. They also offer beer and wine, but we were dining during lunch hour. I need to visit this location again to get lunch fried at my table. read more

My new Baltimore City Korean place... the food is on par with the other two authentic Korean joints ... the difference to me is that there is parking here. As a driver, it is a nightmare to park in the streets of Baltimore and the fact that this restaurant has a parking lot just makes my Korean food decision easy. I would suggest finding the courage to order enough BBQ to cook it at the table as the kitchen overcooks it.... the sides could be a bit more fresh but in all honesty you are there for the actual food. We got there a little before closing time and the service was still amazing even though we kept them past closing. Wow. Where to start... I wish I could give 0 stars but it is not possible. I believe eating at a restaurant should be a pleasant experience where the customer and server (and everyone at the restaurant) are left with more smiles. Instead, I left the restaurant angry. I visited the restaurant with 3 other friends, ordering 4 menus for each person and an appetizer to share. 3 of the menus came out and we waited for the remaining dish to come out. The food was getting cold so we started to eat very slowly so that the pace of the other person eating would be matched... once we finished eating (15 minutes later), the other order came out. We did not receive any apology in between, and when we enquired about the late order, the server said "its coming"... Since we were done eating and our appetizer seemed to be our dessert, we cancelled the order. Apparently, the appetizer was on our bill but never made. The food was just okay. I would give 2 out of 5 stars, considering it is the United States. If it were Korea, I would give 1 star. We left the restaurant not with the best feeling but decided to give it a go the next day since they had all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ. We visited during lunchtime and there were no customers other than us. We put in the order and 15 minutes later, the order came out. The server (same as yesterday) said the rice was still cooking so she brought it out just now. First of all, we ordered all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ... not rice. She could've started off with setting us up with meat and once the rice comes out, she could give it to us?? Or she could've told us about the situation, instead of leaving us to wait for 15 minutes with just a can of coke. I honestly thought she went to catch the cow. The meat quality was pretty good. The marinated meat were a bit dull, but the sauces were good to complement them. There was another 15 minutes where we were not served with any meat and just left sitting in front of the burning grill. The lady server was nowhere to be seen and when we saw the male chef, we asked if the grill could be exchanged. He said yes. Then the lady server came back and she was about to put the new meat onto the already burnt grill. We stopped her and asked if she could replace it for us and she did so with the most angry face. The all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ comes with various side dishes. However, when we asked for some soup and eggs, which were stated in the menu, the lady server said they are not going to be provided. There were about 8 different side dishes that were to be provided, but we only received 1 or 2. Then the lady server said that we should come during dinner time to get the side dishes. We were not notified ahead of time that there would be such difference, especially since the price of the all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ is the same for lunch and dinner. We left the restaurant with a full belly but I doubt that I will visit again because of the extremely disappointing service by the restaurant. There are a lot of Korean restaurants around. However, I would not go here. PLEASE. Don't go here. Jong Gak and Kong are close by and offer much better service and food. Restaurants with poor service do not deserve to serve people. read more

This is my favorite Korean restaurant in Baltimore. Their hot dishes are much better than any other place, but their BBQ is pretty standard. The service is a little slow sometimes, but they are always pretty friendly. I love the jjampong spicy seafood noodles. It's very very spicy! This place is awesome I love Korean barbecue! i've been to a couple Korean restaurants but this one is by far the best! They have great drink specials I had the beef Shobu Shobu (hot pot) all the ingredients for fresh and abundant. The side dishes were abundant and tasty. My only complaint is that the staff could have been more attentive with taking our order and giving us our check also nobody ever came around to refill or waters which is a pet peeve of mine. I was really excited to eat here because it's a brand new Korean BBQ restaurant and the place looked nice- individual vents over each table, so the BBQ must be serious. However, major disappointment. The food was NOT GOOD. It's the worst Korean food I've had at a Korean restaurant in Baltimore, MD, and the service was bad too! The kalbi tasted decent, but the pan got SO HOT that it literally blackened all our meat in a few minutes and the garlic charred and blackened to the point where it was inedible. There was no oil from the meat to make the garlic nice and soft. Then, we got the chal-dol-bae-gee. This was a mistake- DO NOT GET THIS!!! They give you barely-there SUPER thin sliced of beef, which when it touches the pan, it shrivels to the point where it turns into shreds of inedible meat. When I got a few pieces which just cooked, it was rubbery and nasty. The soon doo boo jigae (red tofu soup) had all the tofu mashed up with no chunks in it (although it tasted OK), while the seullungtang (white soup) was bland and tasteless- there was chunks of tripe in it with no noodles. Our waitress barely came by, we had to ring for her a few times, instead all the wait staff was focused on a group of rowdy, older drinking Korean men. I think our waitress felt bad because all our meat became inedible she barely stopped by to check if we were doing OK. The rice tastes plasticy and the water tastes weird. Everything about this place was off. There are so many good Korean restaurants in the area, I won't come here again. read more

Go with a Korean speaker. If you don't have a friend who's fluent in Korean right now, make one and go together. The service here is usually great, but the overall experience and food quality will be so much better if you can communicate with no barriers. The usual fixings, such as dukbokki and seafood pajeon, are decent, and I like their BBQ. Soon tofu, which is truly a hard dish to mess up, is unfortunately very mediocre here. read more

I enjoyed this place a lot. The Banchan was delicious and I've gotten it every time I've ordered. I love the potatoes, as well as the kimchi. The BBQ was very good as well, I could eat the chicken all day!!! I took one star off for the service as it was pretty slow.
