We were greeted and sat right away. My son and I both ordered the eggs Benedict. I confirmed that they were going to be "juicy" and I was told they would be. They were not. I barely had enough egg yolk for my delicious potatoes. She did offer to have them make me new eggs, but it took her so long to come back to check on me that I had eaten so much of cooked egg that I wasn't hungry for more. Overall, I didn't think the food was that great. The service definitely was not great. I would even have described my waitress as being somewhat insipid my son and I both agreed we would probably never return. There's just too many choices. read more

Agree with other reviews, it is very unwelcoming here. Our 'server' whose name, Morgan, I had to find on our receipt as she never introduced herself, nor was at our table long enough to get was horrendous! Showed up to drop off food and bring check and stand over me while I left her 15% tip. Tossed our to go container a minute later and was gone. Her rudeness and attitude completely ruined our experience. The onions coating everything we ate also ruined our meal. Combined my hubby and I had at least half an onion on the side of our plates. This for an omelet and ham and eggs. I could not get enough out to even give my dog his scraps at home. Best thing here was the coffee and english muffin. First and last time here. Always enjoyed a breakfast at the beach diner. Outside seating at the Mandarin location is always pleasant and the staff is very friendly. My favorite there is one of the omlets, from the Western and it's cousin the Mexican to my personalized bacon, sausage and cheddar - they take the extra minute to make them the right way...ingredients cooked into the eggs! I have a picky eater in my family and getting him to venture beyond pancakes has been a chore, but he loves Mamma's Chicken Finger breakfast. It has tricked him into eating new things using tasty chicken strips as the hook. For something a little "lighter" I can recommend the AM Rider and any of the breakfast sandwiches. read more

This is a nice place for breakfast or brunch. There is plenty of parking outside. Right now, the servers wear masks, and there is outdoor seating or distanced indoor seating. It felt clean, which was important as this was the first time I dined in a restaurant in nearly 4 months. We went on a weekday, so there was no waiting for a table. My kids both had the scrambled egg breakfast. It came with a choice of breakfast meat, a side, and toast. All in all, it was a good deal, and my kids enjoyed their food. I had the Eggs Benedict. They were fine, nothing unusual. Eggs were properly poached. They came with a large side, and I can say that the crispy potatoes were excellent. Also, the coffee was a little on the weak side, but I expect that from a diner. I frequently dine at Beach Diner. Love the menu, staff & decor! A man brought his young dog inside the diner. He(Dog) licked his groin. After that on 2 separate occasions waitresses pet the animal. The dog licked them both. Neither one went to wash hands. But served food to customers. This was NOT a trained, vested Service dog!!!!! Will not eat there again, Damn! read more

I've been to Beach Diner a few times for weekend brunch and it's been really good each time. The first time I went was this past summer and it was long wait due to all the seasonal visitors dining out, but this time of year (fall) there really isn't a wait at all. Some of the dishes I've tried are the eggs benedict, biscuits & gravy, and 2 egg breakfast with spicy sausage. Each dish has been delicious. Service each time has been great. The staff here are really working hard to get all the guests taken care of. read more

Came in for breakfast, was told to sit wherever I wanted to. Wasn't very busy, so was waited on immediately and my food came very quick. Got the steak and eggs. Got the ribeye medium rare, was probably closer to rare but it was still good. Was happy to see ribeye with the steak and eggs rather than sirloin like most places. Terrible Eggs Benedict, we know smoked ham from Canadian Baconand if I wanted to eat a hard poached egg? I would have stayed home where I can make real Hollandaise Sauce, poach a soft boiled egg and not get the sauce out of a jar/package or wherever you got it. It was hard to say since it was being rationed and was like paste. Whoever is doing the cooking? Go to Waffle House to learn how to make hash browns try cooking them! We got tired of sending the food backto fix it! The service in the front of the house was excellent and that was a lot more than I could say about the kitchen. read more

I mean this was delish! We have been twice for breakfast/ brunch foods.... Both times we were very happy with our foods! It's simple diner style foods serving breakfast, and lunch. Clean and open when you walk in. Service has been great, very sweet women serving. They have a full breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, grits and pancakes) for $10! So good prices! And the food tasted great both times we went! I got the egg salad pita and it was so yummy! It gets very busy on the weekends! I would avoid peak times on Sat and Sunday. read more

We have been regular customers for 5 years with our 9 lb service dog. Not only was he treated with respect but was also fussed over by the staff. This time a customer complained and it was as if we had never been there before. We will NEVER go back to this diner again. There are plenty of other places to have a breakfast and are accepting of our service dog. So if you have a service dog I would recommend you AVOID Beach Diner unless you want to sit outside in 95* heat. What a shame!!!! read more

First time at this location coming for brunch. No wait and Excellent food and service, we sat outside with our dog. We ordered Mexico omelet, fish and Reuben sandwiches everything was fresh and delicious. We also ordered a side of ham for the dog and choc chip pancakes for dessert. Portions were good and we all left very satisfied we will definitely be back! There's plenty of parking too read more

Ok, what a 180 degree difference from First Watch. First, the wait staff were all unique. All on the same team for sure, but they didn't look like drones who all dressed the same. I don't like the word "culture" and prefer "ecosystem" because the former prides itself on everyone being the same and the latter prides itself on everyone having a common organizing philosophy. First of all the food was fresh and the eggs looked like they came from chickens - I could not say that of FirstWatch. The food was delicious and the people were great. First time stopping in at this Beach Diner location. Wish I had come sooner. It was very nice. They have the same menu that you find at all the Beach Diner locations. The food is excellent and plentiful! The prices are fair. The service is friendly and very quick. Parking is pretty easy out front. The place is very clean including the restrooms. On a recent visit we were served by Naomi, who with her personality, is a great asset to your business. For our meal, the chicken fried steak and the okra were great. However, the collard greens were so spicy hot I could not eat them. I left them on the plate. With that much heat, it destroys the taste of the greens. Why not have a bottle of hot stuff on the table for people who like that, or put a warning on the menu? On previous visits, the liver and onions, mashed potatoes are always good. read more

Do not recommend this place at all. We came to try it and it was a fail. I got the Greek omelet with cheesy grits, there was zero flavor in either of them. The grits remained uneaten, while hot sauce helped get the omelet down. My husband got "The Ultimate" and the only thing worth eating were the pancakes. Frequent diner at this location and nothing pisses me off more than being a party of two waiting out side on a list behind 3 more parties of two and watching another party of 2 party park their car walk up get on the waiting list and then be called in front of all of the people who have been waiting for 20 minutes to be seated. We had come in the late morning to have some brunch because we ate late enough to call it brunch. Being already in Southside it seemed like a good place. The inside is very well lit and the colors remind me of the ocean (light blue) while the beat board walls reminds me of an old look particularly the kind of thing you'd see in Cape Cod or something along those lines. We sat in a booth near the back and after looking over the menu decided on the Bayou Benny (double) which is basically an Eggs Benedict but with crabcakes and bacon strips instead of ham/back bacon. My wife had ordered the Ultimate which is a little bit of everything. Her plate came with 2 pancakes, eggs, 2 links, 2 bacon strips, grits and home fries covered in melted cheddar. While the food was good it was just that, good. Nothing stood out as amazing or something I haven't seen before. It was pretty much a standard type breakfast. The hollandaise on the benny wasn't as rich as I'm used to but the home fries were good. The service was friendly and the place is nice but I'd say the food is about average from what I'm used to. read more

It's a busy place and we've been dining at Beach diner for years. But lately the service and quality have dropped. My wife ordered eggs on the bayou today which comes with poached eggs. The egg whites were clear and uncooked. Hot sauce bottle had a ring of crust on the outside and almost empty. Sad to see one of our favorite places decline. read more

Unique diners like this place is what make the South what it is. Great home cooked style meals with a personal twist at each different diner. I personally love beach diner as my favorite family owned diner spot in Jacksonville. Plus big plus that it's in the Mandarin area where I used to live so it's close to home. And not to mention I have always gotten exceptional service every time I have eaten here. As a breakfast and lunch diner I've tried more than half of the items on the menu. Also be on the look out for the special of day menu items that are not listed on the regular daily menu. My personal all time favorite is the AM Rider with home style fries (large potato wedges) with a cup of their fresh brewed coffee. The AM Rider comes with eggs cooked with onions and peppers omelette style placed in a fresh pita pocket and you can have a choice of home style fries or fresh fruit to go with it. I have also tried all the different eggs Benedict which the crabs Benedict is my favorite of the different styles. Lunch sandwiches are always a good choice and I promise you the service is nothing short of being on point which for me always makes the meal all the more enjoyable. The place is well lit with natural lighting and the decor of the place is absolutely so cute and my favorite!! It's obviously a beach look and feel but they also add other nautical decorations that really just puts a nice touch to the place. Since I've moved to Las Vegas I've been looking for a diner similar to Beach Diner but I have yet to find one!! This is a must place I have to stop at whenever I'm back in Jacksonville!!
