I always enjoy coming here. It looks like they have a little less help in the dining area than I've seen in the past so be patient. Don't worry, your patience will be rewarded. I ordered a small Thai pizza and I ordered a medium pepperoni pizza.Instead of using the soda fountain I ordered a liter of soda. Looking through the reviews a new cheat code has been unlocked. There's a wise woman I know who often has excellent recommendations for restaurants. I was asking her about nice places to go to eat in Dana Point and she generously told me about Beach Harbor Pizza. Finding BHP was easy and at the time (weekday evening) there didn't seem to be much seating. The weather was so good (clear skies, a breeze, and not too much sun) that eating in their outdoor section seemed like a tantalizing scenario. The restaurant that evening looked to not have many employees, (I could be mistaken, but many places are understaffed) but a nice man quickly cleared off one of the outdoor tables when we made our intention to eat outside known. Perusing the menu, I finally decided on The Hawaiian (sweet pineapple, ham, and tomato sauce). I think for the next time, we are going look at the menu online and decide what we want before we arrive as the menu has many options. One of the features which makes BHP special is their crust. On the website (viewed on 8/13/24), it states, "We start with delicious handmade sourdough-style crust (from a living starter, "the old-fashioned way") with whole milk mozzarella cheese from Wisconsin and authentic deli meats from New York combined with fresh cut vegetables." The crust is really good; it's a treat. Really, the whole pizza, the setting, and the experience were superlative. We're talking about high quality here. My statement also applies to the cheese, which was stringy and delicious. The pizza's toppings were fresh and the two of us were actually quiet because we enjoyed eating the pizza that much. I also didn't take pictures, because I was savoring the pizza. There is an option for thin crust, but I am not sure if I would try that the next time I'm here. I'll also order a different pizza to try something new. The next time I catch up with my wise friend, she is certainly going to be thanked for another great recommendation. read more

Called in for a pickup order and I believe it was the owner who was very friendly. Went with the Newport for something different. Crust had nice chew to it, dough like and then a bit of a crisp to the outer edge. The cheese had a nice stretch to it and the pesto sauce had nice freshness and a little acidity. The sundried tomatoes added nice tomato flavor and texture with sweetness. Prawns we're plump and juicy. The pizza was great and I would highly recommend the place. read more

I have been going to Beach Harbor pizza since it was Beach Cities Pizza. . The pizza has always been really great but lately orders to be delivered have really been bad. The last three times I called for pizza to be delivered, everything went wrong. When I called to complain, they were not interested and really didn't care. After 25+ years I will stop going there. .. It's a darn shame because they have always had OK food. I used to have my boat on G dock which is right across the parking lot from where they are. I would get delivery to my boat when I spent the night and it was always really good. I think they need to get back to basics which is good food and good customer relations. read more

We tried the BLT and cheese pizzas, both individual size, as well as the garlic bread. Ordering online and picking up was easy. Overall, the pizza was just average. The garlic bread was also just okay. If you're hungry and in the mood for pizza it will do the job, but we didn't think there was anything particularly special about it. For the price point too, I don't know that I would make this my first stop to return to. read more

Beach Harbor Pizza is situated in the Mariner's Village at Dana Point Harbor. There is plenty of parking within walking distance. It's a laid-back, somewhat affordable place to get pizza, wings, garlic cheese bread, and salad... they offer wine and beer. On the lone flatscreen, I got to watch part of the College Football Playoff semifinals where Harbaugh and the Wolverines lost against the Georgia Bulldogs. There is a small indoor dining room and a small outdoor patio. It wasn't my favorite pizza, however, our medium pizza with cheese and Italian sausage ($21.50) came out piping hot with a thin crunchy crust that actually ended up being satisfying. My daughters enjoyed the garlic cheese bread ($6.50). I noticed only one size cup - small ($3.25) - for fountain drinks. It's self-serve for mostly Coca Cola products. The carbonation on the Dr. Pepper was a bit weak. Service was a tad slow (12/31/21), but they were really hustling! The phone never stopped ringing and patrons were walking in constantly for takeout orders. There was one lone restroom that really needs a deep cleaning or a good wipe down every hour, but it was well stocked with toilet paper, paper towels, and soap. What's not to like about that? This was my and my daughters' last meal of 2021. I've lived in Dana Point my whole life, and without a doubt, this is the best pizza spot in all of Orange County. There are a lot of reasons why, but one thing I've learned is that no matter how good the food is (or isn't), the way a place makes you feel when you first walk in matters just as much. Here, the feeling is unbeatable. The employees are incredible -- every time I come in, whether I'm ordering a lot or just a little, they treat me like family, always meeting my needs with genuine smiles and no hesitation. What really sets this place apart for me is that I have never once left even the slightest bit hungry. Their goal is for you to leave absolutely stuffed, and they deliver every time. My go-to order is the antipasti salad, spaghetti with marinara, and a pizza to share with my family -- and it's always perfect. Mario, the owner, is the best. You can always count on seeing him there, working just as hard as everyone else. There aren't many restaurants where you'll find the owner right there with the staff, but that's just one of the many ways this place is truly special. Beach Harbor defines the heart of Dana Point and it's rich history in small-town mom-and-pop shops that keep this town down to earth. Food was just "ok" Pizza had a weird taste, maybe the cheese maybe the sausage not sure, garlic bread was too toasty and tough to eat, roast beef sandwich was mostly lettuce and bread, very simple and tasteless.
