Half cheese half pepperoni sausage pizza
    Kevin D.

Our neighbors had a bogo a few weeks ago & gave us their free cheese pizza from here, I enjoyed it, wife didn't care for it. Decided to place an order for ourselves, wife begrudgingly agrees. I was genuinely confused when I got home & opened the box...is this a normal amount of toppings for this place? Also ordered a dozen buffalo wings which were pretty soggy, good bite on the sauce though. However, no ranch? $60 meal & ranch is extra? Maybe they forgot to include it? Maybe the kid who made our pie while talking to his friend who was cussing really loudly on speaker phone forgot to add the appropriate amount of toppings? Idk. Probably only ever go to this spot if it's free again. Text book should've listened to my wife moment.

Ended up at Flippin Pizza tonight, honestly because Truly apparently ran out of pizza dough so were closed!!! We got a gluten free pizza which used cauliflower crust and it was quite good! My slice of cheese and pepperoni were okay. I think if I had ordered a whole pie it would have been more fresh, but slices get put back in the oven so it was a bit dry. We also got the meatballs and they were yum and cMe with ricotta. The bathroom was very clean and smelled good, and there is parking in a lot.

    Camping, surfing and pizza

I was looking for a pizza place close to Doheny state beach and found Flippin Pizza. I ordered ahead online and headed to the Albertsons nearby for camping snacks and beverages while I waited for my order. Service was great, and the person I assumed was the manager offered me a free drink while I waited! They have peppers, Parmesan, and napkins to grab on your way out. So I ordered an 18" half Bronx, and half Triboro, with ricotta cheese as an add on since I've been on a ricotta cheese kick lately. I also ordered lemon pepper wings. Everything was amazing! One slice was enough to get me full.. but since I technically ordered two kinds of pizzas, I had a few more bites extra of the other variety. The wings were exceptionally scrumptious. I like that they have small portions available (I ordered a 4 piece). Definitely coming back and looking forward to trying the garlic knotts next time.

Food was soo yummy :3 Service was amazing !! The wait was going to be 20 minutes (dine in) & the man (didn't get his name) offered me Garlic Knots for the wait , I didn't tell him but I hadn't eaten all day & I was starving , so that was very appreciative. & walking out I was offered cookies :3 Love them

Buffalo chicken pizza and pepperoni pizza.

Amazing New York style pizza!! Gave the kids lil cheese pizzas for them to make. Definitely worth the price.

I had a cheese calzone made fresh for me. It was do delicious and HUGE! It was so large that the cook sliced it up into three pieces for me. Paired with their marinara sauce = chef's kiss. The staff were friendly and served with a smile. This location was clean and had a chill vibe to stop in for lunch. Definitely returning to try more options!

I came here based on reviews, and wasn't disappointed. I enjoyed how the pizza was thin crust, not too much bread. I also got the large Caesar salad and that was enough for two ppl. Service was good and quick. Will be returning again.

First and last time. Definitely nothing special to encourage to go out and try. Overpriced for a mediocre pizza. Salad was horrible. Nothing fresh about it and paid to have chicken added (plus extra chicken) which clearly was missed.

Waaay too much sauce. I ordered extra cheese so maybe they were trying to overcompensate??. Pepperoni had no flavor and crust was a 5 out of 10...Very disappointed. I am from New Jersey. Can't believe any NY or NJ person would give this place a good review.

    Not Italian or New York.

The ambiance at Truly Pizza was great and the staff was super friendly. The open-air patio made us feel like we were in Europe. I'd heard reservations were needed, but we went without one and only waited five minutes to be seated. Our food was excellent and the staff was very accommodating with my two year old grandson. We also learned a bit of food history: although Caesar salad is often thought of as Italian, it was actually created in Tijuana, Mexico, in 1924 by Italian immigrant restaurateur Caesar Cardini. We ordered the pizza, choosing from three different crusts. I especially liked the square and sesame crusts. Our favorites were the sweet-and-spicy pizza and the Mike's Honey pizza, both had great flavor combinations. Dessert was a bit more hit-or-miss for me. I could have passed on the ice cream with olive oil. Something about the combination didn't quite work for me; it reminded me of eating a salad with ice cream. Overall, Truly Pizza was a fantastic experience, with a beautiful atmosphere, welcoming service, and excellent pizza. I'd definitely come back for the pizza and patio alone.

The place is cute and open to air so there was a nice breeze in the summer heat. The food was not bad, but it greatly disappointed me and is overhyped. The pizza crust is too hard and the flavors aren't amazing. Unfortunately, it was not really anything special to me. I loved the salad though, that was definitely the star of the show. We also got floats, which was fun. Otherwise, I wouldn't choose to come here, but I wouldn't be opposed if my friends or family wanted to come.

With no ranch the sauces we got on the side were the chipotle and marinara were not good. But the chimichuri was very good. And I want to try the blue cheese next time. We came into Homeslice today to watch the USA v Belgium World Cup game. We arrived around 5:10pm…read morejust after the game started, and were seated at a table on the patio. There was a large group of people (started as a group of five but grew to about 10-12 people) who ended up bleeding into the table next to us and asked if they could take our two extra chairs. Being friendly, we said "sure, no problem!". Shortly after, Marc came over and asked if our chairs had been taken and we let them know that the group next to us asked for them. In response, with deep condescension he responded "No, that isn't okay we have a lot of people waiting", which we understood but we also don't work there and aren't going to be rude to fellow patrons. He then told the group next to us he needed the chairs back only to not actually use said chairs for seated guests. It left all of us very confused for the unnecessary interaction. About 15 minutes later, my husband was looking for our server to order another drink and close out, when Marc came up and told us he needed the table. Mind you, we took time out of our evening to get there early for the game (as did everyone else that evening) and there was no signage nor a heads up from the team onsite that there was a limit on the tables, especially as we weren't the only people there for the very same reason. We had been there about 1.5 hours at that point and there was only a little bit left in the game. The group next to us who had also been there the entire time, and got sat before we did, weren't told they needed to get up, but we were given the third degree for our two spots. When my husband asked if he could get that next drink, Marc responded "I don't take orders" and walked away. Our server then proceeded to not check on us for an additional 20 minutes (we were trying to close out as requested), which ironically made it so we took up their table for the remainder of the game. He also mentioned that he ran into a similar issue with guests the previous week for the game, which sounds to me like an opportunity for better problem-solving skills and coaching amongst the team, not a customer-issue. All of this, only for there to be NO wait when we left AND open tables. Being that my husband and I are both in hospitality management, we were extremely frustrated by the lack of respect and embarrassing customer service by none other than Marc Sullivan, a co-owner of Homeslice. I think it's a bare minimum ask that the management and ownership, have the same decency and respect for paying customers that they expect of the rest of their service staff. By the time we got to our car it was 7pm and hadn't even been two full hours, all for our table to not even be needed. Totally understand it being a busy night but highly recommend that the team game plan better rather than making it the customers' responsibility to highlight where this situation could have been improved. Really bummed to have this experience as we're DP locals and love coming to eat/drink here!
