I've been coming to this Beach Hut Deli for about three years now. It's a nice local spot that doubles as a bar and a sandwich place. While the food is consistently great, the pricing is the only thing holding me back from a full five stars. The Standout Sandwich: The Shark Bite is my go-to and it is incredibly yummy. I get it on a roll, and it comes with cream cheese, ham fried in Tabasco, barbecue sauce, shredded lettuce, and cheese. It always tastes exactly how it should, and I've never had a problem with the quality of the food. The soda is generally good, and they carry solid pre-manufactured chips to go with your meal. The Pricing Issue: The only complaint I have is that their pricing model feels a bit ridiculous. For example, I recently looked into catering: * Beach Hut Deli: Wanted almost $200 for a catering box of sandwiches. * Board and Brew (Competitor): I can get a similar catering box of about 20 half-sandwiches for $98, which includes their traditional sauce, napkins, and nice packaging. Even looking at the a la carte menu, the prices at Beach Hut are just notably higher without much justification. The math doesn't really add up for me, especially considering they are already doing good business. Final Verdict: If you don't mind paying a premium, the sandwiches are some of the best around. It's a great spot for a meal, but be prepared for the bill to be a bit higher than the competition. read more

Such good sub sandwiches! They always taste fresh, are well assembled, and non-soggy, even as takeout. The Surfin' Pig is a must for me, but I also like the Surfin' Bird and Santa Cruz. This one is short compared to the first one I ever did here. Today was my 3rd time and I'm convinced they just don't miss. I forgot the name of the sandwich but I added Cream Cheese today. I think the Malibu might still be my favorite out of the 3 I had so far. Bonus was the $2 Beer today. I've been to a Beach Hut Deli YEARS ago but never been to this location. The establishment was clean with cool beach decor. The man who took my order was super friendly, and so were the young employees making the food. We ordered the Hobie and the Sunrise sandwiches to go, and they did not disappoint! I hate that we live in a world where two sandwiches cost $30. Despite the insane prices, I continue to order from Beach Hut Deli. This location shares a parking lot with a Target and CVS, making it the perfect spot for lunch after running errands. I ended up ordering the regular sized Malibu Sandwich and substituted the pastrami for turkey. This sandwich is layered between two slices of toasted garlic bread, mayo, italian dressing, and slices of avocados. They have a good number of seats throughout the restaurant, the majority including a private TV screen showcasing the latest sports game. There's also a patio for those of us who enjoy our sammies with fresh beach air. read more

Came here recently after having passed by a thousand times. It's alright. Fairly diverse menu options. Got the pastrami sandwich. Regular size which was a decent portion. I opted for the hot pastrami, mayo, mustard, peppers. Ingredients were fresh. Grabbed a bag of chips. Came out to a little over $18. A little pricier than I expected. The pastrami was like heated up store-bought, thinly sliced packaged deli meat. Not impressed. Took a bit for my sandwich to come out. Sandwich was ok, though soggy from all the veggies and condiments. I experienced the dreaded "sandwich slide" when taking a bite. Y'know? The fillings slide around upon every bite. Messy. Not an eat-in-car sammy. Def not your typical pastrami. I got mine to go, but they have a nice dining area. Decent beers available, from what I saw. Staff seemed cool. I am a Beach Hut Deli fan. First came across the deli in Las Vegas and then in Reno. Now it is near our Subaru dealer. This is a great place have a seat enjoy and awesome sandwich while your car is in service. There are plenty of TVs with sports going and there are good beer choices on tap. The atmosphere is surf boards, long grass, and bamboo. Sandwiches are a good size and when combined with chips and a drink you have a meal and a half. Good to share if not hungry. This location has a kids menu (see pictures section). If looking at the website or ordering online I could not find a kids menu, so happy to see the sign upon entering. As for sandwiches I can't say I have a favorite because each time I'm in I try something new. There are seasonal specials that can be found on the menu. I am glad to enjoy a Beach Hut Deli once again and look to return soon. read more

We love Beach Hut Deli. We always get the Surfin Bird sandwich (See picture) Fresh bread, Turkey, avocado, bacon and my favorite the cream cheese spread they put on it. This sandwich is so delicious! Cream cheese on a sandwich might not be something you are used to but I highly suggest you try it. Their sandwiches come in several different sizes and the bread is always fresh. They have several other things on their menu for those non-sandwich lovers. There is plenty of parking at the Huntington Beach location and indoor and outdoor seating. Ugh! I've been eating at Beach Hut for over 15 years. This positive of this spot was it was roomy. Ordered two regular sandwiches. My adult daughter ordered hers, told them she loved their pickles. I ordered mine. The pickles were paper thin. Literally the thinnest I've ever in my entire life seen. Hardly any lettuce. Super thin slice of a tomato. Not much meat. Bread was like a white bread soft roll. We were the only people there. My husband and I usually go to the Costa Mesa location and before that I went to the downtown Sacramento location. Sad to write this....I do love this place. What is the saying "When the cats away the mice will play"? I ordered two orders, one to eat there and, a second to go. I was done eating in 15 minutes. I was being nice while waiting for my to-go order, but now it's been 40 minutes and no one was there. Went to ask the same lady that rang me up. She acted like she had never seen me before. I told her I was waiting for my to-go order, she told me to let me see if we made it. I said nicely I hope so I have been waiting almost 40 minutes. She found it in the phone order area and asked me if I paid....I told her of course I paid, you took my order and my money.
