Lived in HB all my life and just found this place from Instagram. I've tried the Chicken Caesar Wrap, the Smashed Meatball Sub, and the Zac Efron. All have been really good. Was craving a sandwich mid work day, so we ordered from Fritz for the first time. We got the Bronx, Bette Midler and Pasta Salad. Bronx was with the hot peppers, and it was good, but bread and overall quality of ingredients didn't make it great. It was better than the Bette Midler, which felt like a pastrami sandwich a bachelor would make at home. Nothing special. Pasta salad may be the best thing, but was pretty standard. We came back again to have a sit down experience this time over the weekend and I was underwhelmed. I wanted to try something different and got the Bette modeler because I'm a pastrami fan so the cashier recommended another pastrami sandwich that she said in line with what most people think pastrami is? She said the lean version isnt what I think it is so I didn't want to question her rec. It was ok, but I still prefer board and brew's left coast pastrami to this. This place has the pickle bar but I like the sauce that board gives you to go with their pastrami. To each their own I suppose. If you haven't been here you need to go and make it a regular stop. The food was outstanding but the service from the owners Gabby and Cynthia was what made our visit excellent, 5 star! Both Cynthia and Gabby took the time to stop and talk with us, give us recommendations for our lunch and checked in with us while we were eating. Such great customer service. From memory alone, it had thinly sliced turkey and the best tomato aioli that I'd like to take to my grave. Fritzankotters serves a number of deli sides and favorites. I loved their fridge filled with take-and-bake lasagna! I ordered a side of their potato salad to share with the crew. This dish was tasty with thick sliced potatoes and the yummiest seasoning. I ended up keeping it all to myself. For those looking to dine-in, there's a number of tables and booths available indoors and an outdoor patio for those sunny HB days. The best part? Ordered sandwiches for pick up. They said it'd be about 20-30 minutes. I got there about 20 minutes later, waited in line for about 10 minutes and was told it was not ready. I stood off to the side for about another 15 minutes and my order finally came up. My pastrami with mustard and pickles was delicious; the pastrami is some of the most tender I've ever had. My issue is with the wait. I don't know if this was a typical lunch hour or they were just extra busy that day. I'll try again but if this is typical I don't know that I'll be back. Been coming here since 1987. Was fantastic but new owners have changed it for the worse. More then doubled the price of everything. Slow service. Bad attitude to match. Last visit was $40 for two sandwiches, 1 bag chips, a coke and a bottled arrowhead (cheap terrible) water. Order messed up, sandwiches came out ten minutes apart, made wrong. Expressed issues with woman at the counter and a woman that must be one of the owners made it clear she didn't care if I ever came back. Ok. You got it. Edit to respond to owners comment: Please stop trying to spin the incredibly rude, poor service you gave yesterday. I never asked for pricing from decades ago. I was explaining to the girl at the register, who completely forgot to order my wife's sandwich, that I didn't realize I hadn't been charged for the 2nd sandwich because of the extremely high cost of the first one. I had been coming here since 1987 and up to about 4 years ago, used to come a couple times a week but the pricing and service had changed to the point I had not come in months. It's called constructive feedback. Real business owners love it. You, walked up AFTER I had explained this, not involved, not spoken to, and began your rude, arrogant comments for no reason. You wanted a fight and I didn't give you one. Just told you I wouldn't be coming back. When I pointed out how bad your attitude was you turned it up a notch. You were were not spoken down to. I had been told in the past, after you guys destroyed and removed most of the old menu, that I could order the old sandwiches no problem. The girl even pulled out the old menu to check exactly what it was. Apparently, your prices have risen 160% in less then 3 years. And while the Old Town you sold me was good, it wasn't any better then the one from 5 years ago. You can stand behind your "food and service" all day but customer service is king.
