I've watched this place evolve from a high-end sandwich shop to a full-blown bar and grill with live music. The sandwiches are still high quality, even as they bear the brunt of the beer/alcohol/entertainment cost. I've had okay sandwiches here. I've also had bad sandwiches. Tonight I tried the Cali cheese steak and it just left me wanting another sandwich in that I threw away half my overpriced dinner. I ordered it to go and only live a few minutes away. But that was long enough for soggy bread and frankly the cook on the meat was lackluster. Girlfriend liked her sandwich and soup. I've been here a few times and the food is always good. Service however has fallen off quite a bit! There is absolutely no eye contact or acknowledgement made while you are standing waiting to order or even just to ask for a to go box afterwards. No acknowledgment that you are standing right in front of them and they I'll be with you shortly, in a few minutes, do you have a pick up order? Nothing! Prices are pretty steep for a half of a sandwich $9!!! $16 for a whole sandwich, mind you this is on regular sandwich bread not a roll. A few sandwiches are made on a roll but not the "righteous Ruben sando". Salads are also good with a substantial amount of meat but $16? I tried the Santa Cruz sandwich -- stacked with turkey, bacon, and avocado -- and it looked just like the photos on Google: fresh greens, creamy avocado, and soft toasted sourdough. Everything tasted super fresh and flavorful, and the sandwich was big enough to share (but I didn't). The staff was upbeat, quick on the line, and seemed to know a lot of regulars by name. We decided to try it again...what a total waste of money. A $10 small sando it's like 4 bites! We will never recommend this place to anyone! Salads are all lettuce and that's about it...go to Jersey Mikes, MUCH better!!!! We have always loved the amazing sandwiches at Beach Hut Deli, and now we love the patio with live music, too! The sandwiches really are the best in the Portland metro and we've tried several from the menu. We are on vacation - a staycation specifically and doing a lot of work in the yard in crazy hot heat. So, cold dinner + not cooking has been the ticket. We've had Beach Hut 2X on this vaycay and both experiences were great! The Cabo salad was the perfect combo of a chicken salad and nachos - yum. And the breakfast burrito with the avocado and Ortega chiles - fantastic. Great prices too - we need to go to Beach Hut more often for sure! What in the world happened to this place???? 3" subs for about $10 and 6" subs for $16?? Really? Delis used to be a place you could feed your family for not too much money and now no way can we afford to take our kids to eat. 3" is like 3 bites. My husband and I went to a location in Bend OR it was wonderful. Visited the one here in Tigard Or after finding out it was here. Horrible customer service. Will not return. 1. My husband ordered a large sandwich, he was given a medium. We know the size because we went to the one in Bend. When he asked is this a large she said "yes it is". It definitely was not. I ordered Mac and cheese as a side. They were slow and did not "throw it in the microwave" her words until 15 min after we finished our sandwiches. Not at all worth the price. I don't spend a lot of time in Tigard and it didn't seem like there were a lot of good options around and this place looked festive. I walked in, looked at the menu and right away was taken aback with the amount of good looking options. The 2nd thing I noticed was the prices - it all looked expensive. I was even more shocked to find out that their small sandwich is only 3"! Some of their smalls were well over $10! After studying the menu I finally settled on the Pig Kahuna sandwich. As much as I didn't want to pay $15 for a regular, I knew the 3" small wasn't going to do it. With a fountain drink and a (what now seems like obligatory, but that's a separate conversation) 18% tip, my total came out to almost $20. When my food came out, I was very confused. I ordered essentially a pulled pork sandwich but it was served open faced. The 2 pieces of bread weren't attached and there was no way it could have been eaten as a sandwich. I ended up eating it with the fork they served, occasionally picking it up like a piece of toast so that I could get some of the bread. The problem with doing this was that it got extremely messy. The meat was flavorful and moist but the sauce had more heat than I was expecting. All in all, this was not at all what I was expecting. Poor customer service for highly over priced food! When I questioned the pricing I was charged one gal had a terrible attitude. How she chose to approach me rubbed me completely the wrong way. I came here with my husband and two small children on a weekday around lunchtime. The menu was extensive and we were so excited to try some of their sandwiches. Everyone was friendly and I love the atmosphere. There was even cars for my son to play with which he was so excited about!! you could tell this place has been very well thought out and cared for and everyone there seem to truly value and enjoy their jobs. Cool ambiance, poor service, average salad. So I walked in and there was no one at the register, everyone was in the "making food" area. With no instructions or greeting, I sat down at the circular bar that had 5 bar stools at it. After 5 minutes or so, still no greeting, 3 people walked in and went to the register. One person called out to them that they'd be right there to help them then went to the register to take their order and payment. I asked that person if they offered counter service or if I needed to go to the register and order (I was sitting about 4 feet from the register). She said that normally yes I should order from the register but she would get my order when done with the people at the register. From that point, every time she was almost done with the current person at the register, another person came in and got in line. She did not tell anyone to hang on a sec while she took my order or apologize to me or anything - just kept taking orders at the register. I eventually gave up and got in line (4 deep) and ordered at the register. Ordered a Chefs Salad an a Ninkasi Total Domination and paid. Meanwhile, another customer who had seen me waiting at the bar for the past 15 minutes had sat in the seat I was in - completely empty bar and he sees me ordering and still sat there bizarrely. Whatever. I went and sat next to him. Then the woman pouring beer turned to me and said the keg blew - she asked if I wanted a different beer. No, that was literally the only beer on their menu that I wanted. After a bit, she sighed and said that she guessed she could go and see if there was another keg to replace it with. After a few minutes she reappeared pushing an empty leg across the floor with her feet then poured me a beer from the full keg. Then, more waiting... eventually they called my name (didn't bring it to me although I was 6 feet away, even though they would hand to go orders to people that would come and go at the bar) So, I look down at my salad and realize it's just a bunch of deli meat and cheese lumped onto lettuce - no inspiration or even a balance of ingredients: way too much deli cheese (bland typical boring deli cheese) and not nearly enough avocado (how little can you put on a salad and still call it out on the menu?). The overpowering flavor of Purple onions (just said "onions" on the menu) was the predominant flavor then masked by the bland cheese. Bacon was unimpressive and very hard/crunchy. Salami overpowered the average deli ham and Turkey. So, again, the spot looks and feels cool but I was unimpressed by the food and service. This was my first time here and will likely be my last. Really liked this place! I love trying new places and I really liked my turkey and cheese sub. I got the small size with a drink and forgot to get chips with it, but it was very filling. I loved that they had Powerade in their drink machine because a lot of places don't carry it. Loved the beach theme and the surfboards used as tables. It was really close to my hotel in downtown Tigard and I was fortunate enough to find a parking place right out front. I definitely want to come back soon! read more

Slow night at Beach Hut on a Saturday night with maybe 2 tables taken at 6 pm. Took 30 minutes to get our take out order of two sandwiches and had to ask where it was after I noticed people getting their food that were there 20 minutes after we ordered. Ever since the last owner Chris left, it's gone down hill with long waits and lack of care in sandwich preparation. Disappointing as a Tigard resident for 16 years. Need to staff correctly, communicate when sandwiches will be ready and pack your long patience if you plan on going there. read more
