I have been going to Potbelly for many years, mostly to the location in Hillsboro. This week my son and I were near the Beaverton location. We stopped by for lunch. After ordering our food we went over to fill our cups for drinks. I typically only drink Ice Tea but the dispenser was empty. One of the very friendly employees a young lady, sorry I did not get her name came over and immediately started to brew a fresh batch. I was so happy to see an employee take immediate action without prompting. She is a keeper. The food , I love the Italian with spicy peppers with all the fixings, it did not disappoint. It's one of the better Italian sandwiches out there. I liked the fact that Potbelly has very consistent sandwich prep. I appreciate the friendly staff and clean building. First time I've tried Potbelly's and it could be the last. I was told to order at the register for a soup and salad. The person at the register didn't acknowledge me, did a few things with the register then walked away. The music was overly loud so it was difficult to hear any of the staff. I waited another couple of minutes and noticed online orders were being made and picked up so I went online to place order. One worker asked me if I needed help while I was ordering online and she told me I could order at the counter. The exact place I was already told I couldn't order from. I decided to finish the order online then submit that I was already here to pick it up. I waited awhile longer then went up to the register to ask about my order. They still had to make the salad. I ordered a half salad and half sandwich. I get the order and the sandwich was missing the cucumbers and mayo. The salad had cucumbers but they were mushy and tasted bad. Great deli style sandwiches, I got mine toasted and it was perfectly crisp bread on the outside soft on the inside just how it's supposed to be. The chicken pot pie soup was amazing it tasted just like the one my grandma used to make :( Made me very nostalgic. Staff was helpful and polite, the restaurant was clean and brightly lit. Folks, to ensure accuracy, when you order a sandwich here you HAVE to watch them like a hawk as they're making it. Because unfortunately, the people working here appear to have about a 2-second attention span and/or they THINK they can multi-task when they absolutely can't. Today (September 1, 2025) at about 11:45 I ordered two turkey avocado sandwiches. Some way, somehow, they forgot to put avocado on one of those TURKEY AVOCADO sandwiches. Like, seriously?? How does that even happen? Then on the other sandwich I asked for only mustard, onion and Italian seasoning. Some way, somehow, I got a sandwich with mayo (which I absolutely hate), no mustard, and no Italian seasoning. Here too, I only asked for three ingredients and some way, somehow, they managed to f*ck-up two of those three ingredients. The people making my sandwiches appeared to be around 20ish years old. I've heard employers are having difficulty with this age cohort because they can't pay attention to anything for more than a split second. Such was my observation with $28 worth of disappointing sandwiches. I guess it was partially my fault for assuming I didn't have to watch over their every move, or check my sandwiches before leaving the store. But Christ on a cracker...this isn't rocket science. I was SO tempted to drive back and demand they remake both sandwiches. This time correctly. Alas, I didn't have a spare 40 minutes today to deal with their rank incompetence at...making a sandwich. The lesson? DO NOT assume your sandwich will be correct unless you personally witnessed them undertake every step of constructing the thing. Don't say nobody ever warned you. read more

My partner and I ordered three sandwiches from this location on Uber Eats and when they arrived and I opened the bag, I discovered two sandwiches in the sealed bag. "No big deal, it's after work they're probably just finishing up with a rush." My partner, who placed the order, called the store to let them know what happened while I got the order handled in Uber Eats just to cover all the bases in getting the situation handled. However, when my partner told the woman working what happened and she tried to say that "she definitely put three sandwiches in that bag" and that "she's not saying the Uber Eats driver did something, but-" to which we told her the bag was sealed with a potbelly branded sticker. Completely inappropriate and disgusting behavior as someone with food service experience. Ordered off Uber eats for my birthday lunch and was super excited for the sandwiches. I couldn't decide so I ordered the turkey and the Italian. Unfortunately I took one bite of the turkey and it tasted so off, kind of like if you froze sandwich meat and then thawed it out. It had a strange odor as well, so I didn't eat it. Everything is made fresh to order and there are lots of sandwich options, including bread choices and size of sandwich. Since I often can't finish a full sandwich, I appreciate that there are options: skinny (less bread,) original and large. They have a full menu of their combos and many look fab Or you can create your own from a variety of proteins - roast beef, Turkey breast, tuna, grilled chicken, ham, meatballs, tuna, chicken salad, cheddar, swiss - and all the usual toppings including hot peppers which for me is a must! Lots of people have their sandwiches toasted so the cheese gets all melted. I'm more of a traditionalist and typically get the the Italian sub with all the norms - lettuce, tomatoes & onion - with extra hot peppers and oil & vinegar. For meat they include salami, pepperoni, capicola (spicy ham) and mortadella (Italian bologna) which I love and have never seen at any sandwich shop in Portland. This sandwich always satisfies my NJ Italian sub craving! They have a similar sandwich called The Wreck which packs on the meat but doesn't have the oil and vinegar like the Italian sub. It's super popular. I also like the Mediterranean which combines lots of my favorites like feta cheese, cucumbers, hot peppers and grilled chicken. Potbelly isn't just about sandwiches. They have different soups every day, chili with cornbread, and lots of salad options (they are huge!). Even malts, milkshakes and smoothies which was an unexpected surprise. And if you want to end your meal with something sweet or forgo the meal entirely and head right to desert, they have cookies, dream bars, ice cream sandwiches, frozen yogurt, and of course, those malts and milkshakes. Having passed this place hundreds of times, literally, because I drive by to get to my home and on my daily walk, I'm glad I finally checked it out and have been back several times. This is a perfect spot for me to pick up lunch after I irked up an appetite in my walk or to grab a meal to bring home for dinner later. The food quality is consistently good but it's a roll of the dice when it comes to timeliness and quality of service, especially for pick up. My son loves their meatball sub so we order here about once a week. Some of the staff are very engaged, helpful, and on top of things. However, on days like today, they seem to be under-staffed and poorly trained. Our pick up order was 20 min late from scheduled time. The staff prioritized the walk up line so much that when I arrived at the designated pick up time I watched people get in line, order at the counter, eat, and leave before I received my food. The 2 staff working were clearly harried and loudly announcing to newly arriving customers that it would be a long wait, so I was happy to take it easy and wait. When it appeared that no progress on my order had been made 15 minutes into my wait, I asked if my order had been started, the staff said no so I asked to cancel. Instead of helping me, they explained that I was distracting them from making food and walked away. After reading through these reviews this seems to be a reoccurring theme at Potbelly. I placed a mobile order for pick up today and specified no cheese. Once I returned to work, I noticed my sandwich was covered in melted cheese. Since it was toasted, the cheese was impossible to pick off of the sandwich as it had soaked into everything. Glad I am not the only one that has this issue and I hope they find a better solution to reading the tickets. Tried for the first time. Got the free sandwich. Free for signing up. Wanted to like it more than did. 2.5 to 3. stars. Started with the vegetable soup with avocados on top was actually pretty good. Enjoyed. Ordered the veggie melt sandwich. After taking a couple bites, bit into this huge piece of avocado. It was the hardest avocado ever seen, almost as hard as plastic. Still wondering if it was real. Kinda grossed me out (didnt eat it). Had asked for extra lettuce but got light lettuce which was bad. The lettuce ruined the sandwich which tasted spoiled. Tried picking it off. The tomatoes were not fresh, on their way out. The artichokes were not soft but too hard to bite into. It just feels like the ingredients are not paid close attention to. Basically to make a sandwich the only thing you have to do is add fresh ingredients otherwise don't put them on the sandwich. It's not the employees fault, it's the vendors or else letting ingredients sit out too long. The bread was ok but was a bit too hard. Probably won't be back only for the soup. The first thing you realize when you walk through the door and see the menu board above the counter is that you've got a few decisions to make. All sandwiches are made to order and served "toasty warm" but you must decide on an original (regular or multi-grain wheat bread), a flat (very thin multigrain bread), or a big (regular or multigrain wheat bread). I never did figure out what the difference between an original and a big were -except maybe the calorie count- but maybe it doesn't matter. Lots of meat options: turkey breast, smoked ham, roast beef, meatball, tuna or chicken salad. "Faves" include grilled chicken & cheddar, which is what I had, $6.25 (500 calories) for the "original" size. All-natural, hand-sliced chicken breast with cheddar. After being toasted, it was all gooey and warm, and very good. Just watch out if you order the hot peppers, the heat with curl your hair! Potbelly also has huge salads, soups & chili, sweets like freshly baked cookies, Dream bars (?) and ice cream sandwiches. Need a malt or a milkshake, you've got it, along with low-fat smoothies and frozen yogurt. Canned soda & bottled drinks as well as fountain drinks are available too. Everything is fairly reasonably priced. Service is fast and friendly. I'd go back when in the mood for a better than average sandwich. read more
