First and foremost, the service is top notch. Triple A service. We brought my sleepy son in here and my husband forgot the coloring sheet. I had grabbed crayons before we took our drinks outside. I went back inside for the coloring page and one of the employees called after me as I was walking away "we have crayons here!" Not knowing I already grabbed some. I know a lot of people would have just stayed quiet. And turns out this employee was off her shift, and still had amazing customer service. The food. Delicious. Hands down. My husband loves coming here, he always talks about wanting to come but the wait for the food could be a little of a wait. Understandable, they are making all the sandwiches by hand and they take care to craft each sandwich with lots of love. You can definitely taste the thoughtfulness! I ordered delivery but can attest that the sandwiches are very good. Delivery was quick. Pros: I ordered the Surfin' Cow and was very happy to see there was a stack of meats and toppings. The sandwich was full as they did not skimp on the meats and toppings. Wasn't soggy considering what was on it. The avocado tasted fresh and had the right texture. Husband ordered the North Shore. He says it's messy but very good. He also said the portion was huge considering the sandwich was a medium, think 6 inch. He said there is no way he could eat an XL, 16 inches. Big portions, enough to fill full and satisfied afterwards. Cons: His did not get toasted like asked and was a little bit soggy. Otherwise no complaints. Recommended? Yes. Many of their sandwiches taste like a very good one I'd make at home: simple bread, basic ingredients, bottled hot sauce like Tapatio, etc. Mind you they're good, and better than chains like Jersey Mike's, Subway, etc., but not at the level of a premium Portland sandwich shop. Those places offer some amazing rolls made by bakeries especially for them and are very creative with their offerings. The staff here was very friendly and the vibe inviting and fun. Sandwiches are already expensive compared to other restaurants. Asking for excessive tip with high prices and no service to speak of is rude and disrespectful of the customer. I used to frequent this place when I lived in Las Vegas and definitely missed it when we moved here many years ago. I finally made my way over for lunch on Saturday and I don't know what took me so long. It has a beach vibe with lots of great indoor booths with surfboards for tables and personal TVs. They also have a ton of outdoor picnic tables. I love that the food comes on frisbees too, definitely a vibe. I split the Surfin Bird with my mom, the sandwiches are definitely big enough to split. I love that it has everything I could want on a sandwich, turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, dressings, pickles, cheese, and even cream cheese. I also highly recommend you get a bag of their chips, so delicious. My daughter would not stop raving about how much she loved their grilled cheese. I placed this order 30 minutes before pickup. When I arrived my 3 sandwiches hadn't even been started yet and the guy at the front immediately announced a female coworker (who remained standing in the kitchen to care for her finger the entire transaction until the end when she thought it was a good idea to go sit at a guest table in the restaurant to hold paper towel around her bloody finger) I asked how long it would be and he told me 6 minutes but made sure to add they had a lot of catering to do also. Unprofessional and not my problem, bud. Management should be scheduling appropriately so you can take care of catering jobs as well as regular pick ups and walk in guests. The customer doesn't need to know about your work load, especially in relation to the service they are receiving. I proceeded to wait an additional 15 minutes before letting them know I would have to leave. Not that 45 minutes for 3 deli sandwiches isn't ridiculous already. He offered to refund me but said they were making my last sandwich then so I chose to wait. No apology, no discount, just attitude and it was totally unprofessional. Like I bothered him or ruined his day with my order. The sandwiches were thrown together, sloppy, and the Surfin' Bird was so stuffed with cream cheese just on one side, it was inedible. So was the Spicolli, the bread was utterly waterlogged and the ranch was dripping from the wrapper before it was even opened. A $50 order and it was a complete waste of money. I will never go here again and encourage anyone who considers it to save your money and go to a Subway or Jersey Mikes, much faster, cheaper, and far superior customer service. read more

My food? Fantastic. I don't like writing bad reviews but when the service at a place is this awful I have to say something. I ordered at 12:15. My pickup time was 12:57 and I got there at 12:55, was told it would be a few more minutes by worker A. At 1:10, I ask if it's ready and am told by worker B it'll just be a little bit longer. By 1:30, worker A comes back over and asks for my name again, and says "it's here it just got finished". I was sitting within clear view of my bag the entire time and saw 3 of the 4 sandwiches placed in it, I assume there was already 1 before I got there. I ordered one hot sandwich so I figured it would be that, but that was at the bottom of the bag. Between 1 and 1:30 I never once saw a sandwich placed in that bag. My order was the only one never called out, so I even further assumed it wasn't ready. I'm young, I've worked fast food and restaurants so I tend to be extremely forgiving, but this was ridiculous. As great as their sandwiches are, when you have this poor of service the food doesn't make up for it. Very disappointed. read more

This is one of our favorite places in Tigard. The sandwiches are amazing.. super fresh and they have perfect bacon. They are a tad expensive but everything is so fresh it feels worth it. I always get the Surfin Bird (minus the cream cheese which is on almost all of their sandwiches.. I sub it for pepper jack.) My husband likes the Hobie. I've never had a bad experience here and I've been here countless times. They also have a full bar. The staff is always friendly and the vibe is definitely fun. The area we sat in had a ladder, 8 empty kegs, dust and spider webs on the window as decoration. The floors are very uneven creating a fall potential for people who are unsteady on their feet. Food preparation was slow. If you want their food I suggest you order takeout. FYI: The BBQ salad was good. Plenty of toppings and ample dressing. The pastrami sandwich was not traditional but OK too. Soft drinks are self serve and include ice tea. Service was nonexistent other than when ordering. I had the "Vegan Vibes, a concoction featuring avocado, vegan mayo, vegan smoked gouda, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, cucumbers & spinach." Usually, it is on toasted sliced wheat bread, but since I ordered a large, they suggested a whole wheat bun, which was very ciabatta-like and almost capable of holding all the ingredients. The employees, when I was there, we're all standing around in the kitchen, at least 6 people in their small kitchen had to ask. 3 × 4A fork, and had to finally yell to get their attention, then they all looked at me like they did not know what a fork was. Bathrooms are not clean. The whole interior of the restaurant needs to be cleaned. I would recommend having your sandwiches delivered. So you do not have to experience what I did. read more

We get the surf bird, and/or woody, depending on the mood, and occasionally the super/supreme(can't remember the name) salad (that has quinoa). We don't really drink so we don't know much about their taps on beer. Our favorite is their backyard area, because we like to bring our dog on a good weather day and have lunch/dinner.
