Normally I'm a shrewd man and the price of the sandwich might give me pause. I was feeling saucy and went for it. I didn't even care how much In was. I like the kick of Tabasco but then the cream cheese kind of turns the volume back down. The sandwich is also loaded with meat. For here, in the lowly village of downtown Tigard, our treasure comes in the form of sandwiches that are plentiful in variety and fat in size. I've been here a handful of times and usually share a sandwich with the husband since they are so HUGE. They have a neat bar area and lots of booths with private TV screens so you can watch sports... or not. Picked up an online order during my lunch break and when I returned home I was disappointed to find that none of my instructions had been followed once unwrapping the sandwich. I paid for avocado and there was none. Asked for a toasted sandwich and it was cold. Requested the dressing on the side so the sandwich would not be drenched, and well, it came with no dressing on the side and a very wet french roll. I have never felt so angry eating at a deli before until the lady at the counter handed my my meal. I just wanted a quick simple hot dog. And what came out was a ridiculous massive beast. They literally put a hot dog in 12 inch sandwich bread and tried to pass this off as being edible. Literally a fatty mixture of mayonnaise and mustard spills out of this. Just a terrible sloppy mess. Great food however it was over $50 for 2- 12 inch subs plus tip. With that said, it's enough food for two days so it works itself out. I had sticker shock. I had the skinny dipper, and I feel like they could use better roast beef. I would definitely go back, but order a smaller sandwich. read more

Excellent addition to the modest food scene in downtown Tigard. I was surprised to learn that Beach Hut Deli was a chain that's been around since 1981. Loved the beach resort feel: surfboards, pictures of surfers, and great music to go with it. Menu is pretty extensive, as is the craft beer offerings. They also have a few ciders and a small wine list. Hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, nachos, and salads. Packaged chips at the counter to round out your meal. Cookies too, if you need a sweet. I tried the Malibu ($8.95): chopped pastrami, Swiss, and Italian dressing with mayo and avocado on sliced, toasted, garlic cheese bread. It was a mess to eat but SO GOOD! Extra napkins and a fork are needed for this one. The pastrami was lean and dare I say, the best I've ever had? The "Classic" cold sandwiches include: mayonnaise, mustard, dill pickles, tomatoes, red onions, lettuce, Greek peppers and cheese. (Alfalfa sprouts and Italian dressing available upon request.) Husband ordered the classic Sunrise ($8.95): ham, turkey, bacon and Swiss cheese on a French roll. He couldn't finish all the bread (there was a lot) but declared the flavor excellent. A definite "would order again." I loved the Frisbee's all the sandwiches are served on, wonder how many they'll lose as customers steal them. LOL. Very friendly younger folks behind the counter. It took a little while to get our sandwiches but there were 4-5 young ladies making them as fast as they could. There was also a big group who ordered before us, so... It was a fairly warm day and all the tables outside were occupied so we sat inside. We specifically tried Beach Hut because we weren't happy with most of the sandwich shops we usually frequent. Something new but not an hour away. Boy are we glad we did... John and crew were amazing! Walking through the door we were greeted, offered assistance if we had questions and given the option to look at a clean menu. We sat at the bar just because the vibes were wonderful. Recommendations for beer and sandwiches were offered but not pushed on us. We asked for a beer to sip on while looking at the menu and were left to wander through the options. I ordered the Righteous Reuben, my better half got the California. Couldn't have made better choices (until next time?). Both were fresh, made as requested and delicious. It's obvious the quality of product is important to the Hut and it shows. We also appreciated John moving through the restaurant, asking the patrons how everything was. Not to mention the fact any time the staff left their station, for any reason, they washed their hands before going back to food handling. To have excellent food, service, atmosphere and brewskies at one location is huge nowadays. We'll definitely be back and wish them the best of luck. Now, what should I try next.........? read more

The service is nice and professional. The food is okay. What I don't understand is the cream cheese on everything. Even if it's not listed as an ingredient, you still get it. I had not been there in a while and needed to grab a bite while waiting for my car to be serviced. I ordered a sandwich that had no cream cheese listed. The guy who took my order asked if I was okay with all the ingredients. He listed them all with no mention of cream cheese, so I said "Yes". Well, I got cream cheese. I grew up on the east coast. Yum! I had the Santa Barbara, which is bacon, avo, & cream cheese. The sandwiches are HUGE, and I probably should have saved half for later but I gobbled it down so quickly. I love their sandwiches. Some of the best around but the customer service/business practices as of late has been Very frustrating. I have tried ordering sandwiches to pick up multiple Saturday's for dinner. All the phone does is ring a bunch and then disconnect. I've tried multiple Saturday's. Then one time about 2 months ago, one of the male employees actually picked up after 6-7x trying to get through, and said they were just very busy. Terrible business practice. So, I was a little tentative to go into a Deli, just for the pint deal. Yes I want to try a sandwich, so in I go - The host was really friendly, was surprised I'd not been in before. They have a cute little counter, plenty of seating for counter/bar type, or tables in the middle of the deli - then on to outside picnic tables. This place is a lot bigger than it appears. Loads of beer, wine, and liquor choices. I had a $3 pint of Sunriver Vicious Mosquito IPA. What a killer deal ! And it's completely fine to sit and sip a pint. I did order food to go. I got their NorthShore sandwich - it was a good size. I shared half with my folks. At first glance, prices are a little high, but you get two meals out of their sandwiches. This place is charming, quaint. I would gladly go in, even if their pints aren't $3. Fun stop for food and bev. Family friendly, park on the street, TVs, and TVs at individual tables, too. Beach Hut Deli is definitely among my top 5 places to get a sandwich (that is part of a chain). Normally I say "Heck no!" to any and all chain restaurants, but here its different. From the bread to the lettuce, its all so fresh. Pride of ownership is evident in the ingredients and presentation here. Yes, their sandwiches are pricey, so be prepared for that, but if you want a great sandwich today, you have to pay more than $6 for it. I have tried so many of their sandwiches from the Surf N Bird (One of my go-to's) to the crazy concoction of hot pastrami, bacon, tobasco, bbq sauce and toppings (cant remember the sandwiches name). They have all been great. When avocado comes on a sandwich here, I am pretty sure you get almost an entire avocado. So if you are on the fence about trying Beach Hut Deli, don't be. If I was writing this review only on the sandwich I got, it would have been a solid 4/5 stars. Arguably one of the best sandwiches I have had recently. Sadly, my family did not get to share my experience as both the other two sandwiches we got were messed up. They forgot the cream cheese on one of them and the swiss on the other. Not only that, but one of them was burnt. To make it clear, this was not just a little extra toasted. Half the sandwich was blackened and had an acrid taste. How the staff even judged the bread to be edible is beyond me. We will not be coming back. read more
