    BBQ Meat Sampler

My expectations have been exceeded. It was my first time here today, and the gentleman at the cash, Alex, was extremely helpful. He recommended my boyfriend and I start with the sampler so we could try everything. When we got the food, it was incredible. Cristhian, another one of the employees, came to check in on us and was so kind and hospitable. The service here is incredible and the food was amazing. He even brought us out a dessert from the chef, Martin. 15/10 experience, we will definitely be back!!

Good BBQ in a cool little hidden driveway. Picked this place randomly and was not disappointed. Good flavor food nice size portions and the service and ambiance were great.

I ordered to go but still had to wait about 10 min after the expected pick up time. There is a nice outdoor patio with interesting decor so the wait wasn't bad. I ordered the turkey plate which came with two sides and I chose green beans and Mac n cheese. The turkey was pleasantly moist and tender with a slight smokiness that wasn't overbearing. The green beans were not overcooked and the mac n cheese was spot on, not overly cheesy. The corn bread has blue berries so I was expecting it to be sweet but it wasn't at all and was very moist. The whole meal just came really well together and I like that they provided a pat of butter for the bread. The complaint I have would be the proportions. The turkey provided was only a few slices while the corn bread was massive in comparison. I would have preferred more of the main entree rather than the bread. I also got an additional side of Texas chilli which was full of flavor and amazing but I was surprised that it came in a shallow container that was smaller than the other 2 sides yet was $10. It was enjoyable though and I had it with some tortilla chips. Given that, I might still return when I'm in the area and feel like treating myself to some BBQ.

I am not sure if I want to share this cause if it truly is found there will be wait times. Marvin the chef knows what he is doing. We ordered the sampler so we could try all their barbecued meats; ribs, chicken, pulled pork, turkey with a side of coleslaw and Mac and cheese. The meat will melt in your mouth and the barbecue sauce is perfect. The coleslaw is a vin egret which is a nice change from chain restaurants. The service here is exceptional. Thank you Alex, Christian, chef and everyone else who made our experience so special. Ambience is nice plenty of tables outside and inside. Heat lamps with music playing They have been around for 20 years! Hidden gem for sure. Yum!

Brisket salad is sad and uninspiring for the price.

Very cool BBQ spot tucked away like a little oasis. Looks like it was a house at one time that's been converted into a restaurant. Huge comfy patio plus some inside seating. Parking is limited and you can get trapped if someone pulls in behind you so make sure to look before pulling in too far. I wasn't lucky enough to snag a spot but there was plenty of street parking. The burnt ends appetizer was 5 stars BBQ perfection. Melt in your mouth tender, saturated with smokiness, and had a delicious dry rub. Unfortunately nothing else compared. My brisket salad was truly sad and uninspired for the price. Zero creativity in this boring salad. The brisket was horrible. Zero flavor and so chewy I thought I was eating a sirloin steak at Denny's. I can't believe this was slow cooked like the burnt ends. Total waste of money. Even the honey mustard was an odd choice and did not work. My wife's two item combo was no better. Same chewy flavorless brisket along with completely flavorless sausage. She had to drown everything in BBQ sauce which was very good. We also had Fried okra which as good. You get your own drinks but they do bring out your food and clean up your table so the up front tip is warranted. Service was extremely friendly. Maybe it was a bad day but my wife and I both agreed we wouldn't return.

Pulled pork (0 fat:), vinegar based coleslaw, collard greens & corn bread.

Another great dinner at Beach Pit! The vinegar-based coleslaw was perfectly tangy, the collard greens were flavorful, and the corn muffin hit the spot. The pulled pork was especially impressive--tender and lean with no excess fat. Always a solid choice!

    Before and after dinner lol

First time visitors, and we are so glad to have found this place! Food was incredible, portions were great, and the people there were so friendly! Will definitely be coming back to bring my bbq fanatic grandparents :-) Also the outdoor seating was so cozy and welcoming.

For our micro-wedding we had Beach Pit BBQ ... hands down, the juiciest, tenderest, flavorful, finger licking mmm mmm MMM!! Delicious bbq yet! Highly recommend! We ordered 2 of the Party Pack which feeds up to 40 people we only had some left overs cause or party had 30-35 people. We had pulled pork, sausage, and brisket! (Not a big fan of chicken) The gentleman who came to drop off the food was very sweet, let us borrow some (very high end) utensils since they ran out of the plastic ones when he came back to pick them up I forgot to catch his name but big shout out to him!

Must try restaurant in the OC! Blown away by their service and the quality of their food! I'm not really a BBQ fan but this wasn't too heavy! The staff were so nice and courteous! The brisket and pulled park was well worth it! Best part- pricing very fair. Thank you for a pleasant time with friends on a Friday night!

The iced horchata matcha latte leaned much heavier on the horchata flavor, so don't expect a strong matcha taste if that's what you're looking for. The best thing we ordered was definitely the Chow Chorizo Burrito. It was fully stuffed, the chorizo was seasoned really well, and the avocado balanced everything nicely. I'd absolutely order this again or even pick up to-go for a full beach day. We also got the Strawberry Haute Cakes, which were massive, fluffy pancakes topped with fresh strawberries. Definitely a good option if you're sharing. A couple of things to note - parking is pretty limited, which is honestly expected for this area, so just plan ahead. The interior also feels a bit cramped for the amount of seating they try to fit in, but the space is at least nicely decorated and has a cozy vibe. Would come back here again for brunch, but only in small groups of 2-4 people.

The ribeye with mashed potatoes and mushrooms was cooked perfectly, but the standout for me was the short rib ravioli. I had heard of it before but never tried it until this visit. The pasta to filling ratio was spot on and every bite was excellent. For dessert, we ordered the espresso crème brûlée, which was rich, creamy, and well balanced. Gabriel also surprised us with a baklava cheesecake on the house, and our group could not stop talking about it. Combining baklava and cheesecake was a game changer. I stopped by because I was already in the area and wanted to check out a newer spot. They're approaching their one-year anniversary, so they're still fairly new. When I visited, there was a decent line, and the café was quite busy. There isn't dedicated parking, so you'll likely need to find street parking in the surrounding neighborhood and walk over. There is plenty of outdoor seating available, along with a smaller indoor seating area. I ordered the Guava Range from the seasonal menu, which is described as a guava matcha latte topped with mascarpone cream, guava purée, and ceremonial-grade matcha. I was especially excited to try it because guava matcha isn't something you come across often. Unfortunately, my drink didn't quite match the description. If there was guava purée included, I couldn't see or taste it. The only guava element I noticed was a light dusting on top of the cream. The mascarpone cream also overpowered the matcha, making it difficult to taste. Overall, the drink came across more like very lightly flavored milk than a guava matcha latte. For a drink that cost around $9-10, I was hoping for more balance and a stronger presence of the advertised flavors. That said, they're still a relatively new business, and growing pains are understandable. I didn't have time to stay and try any food, but everything coming out of the kitchen smelled great. Since it was busy, I also don't feel I can fairly comment on the service based on this visit alone. I'd be willing to come back and give them another try in the future, as I can see the potential and hope some of the smaller details get refined over time.

Starting with parking, this is Newport so you need to be aware. There's an underground parking structure right to the left of the entrance (if your car is pointed towards the marina). Shorebird validates at the hostess stand, valid 2 hours. Atmosphere is great. It's clearly a more upscale (but casual enough) brunch spot on the marina. The decor is beautiful and high quality but not overly done nor overly extravagant. Can imagine the vibe leaning more formal in the evening because it does give "ocean club with the lights on" during the day. Menu items all sound and look delicious but the execution is slightly off. An example was with the lemon ricotta hot cakes - gorgeous in photos and such a great idea on flavors but they had a horrible bitter aftertaste that made them really hard to eat (about 1/4 way in I couldn't do it). Similarly the meatballs looked delicious but the meatball itself was not nearly as flavorful as it looked and sounded on the menu. Passion fruit margarita (zero proof) tasted like passion fruit flavored sparkling water. Was definitely a miss for us. Will try again and order different items, but honestly not sure another visit could make up for the disappointment and get this in my top 5.
