I can't afford this place during peak season but Montauk Blue is my off-season pick year after year. It's walkable to everything in town, and the majority of rooms open right out to the water with incredible beach views. The rooms themselves are clean and updated but small. The pool is indoors here which also makes this a perfect off season pick - we came in May when it was still a bit cool out, but the pool being indoors meant it was still a great pool day. Included in your stay is beach chair and umbrella service, but it was too chilly out for us to take advantage of that. We did enjoy sitting out on the lounge chairs on the beachfront deck they have here. The rooms we stayed in did have pretty big cracks under the doors which felt a little sketchy, and my mom's shower wasn't working properly. They would have moved us but we were already settled in when we noticed. Overall, great location, beachfront, amenities abound. Pros outweigh the cons for me. read more

It's nice because it's right on the beach. They have workers who bring out towels chairs and umbrellas. Although, I find it crazy that at a hotel where everyone is on vacation the pool hours are 9-6pm. 6:00 is insane. So as it is packed during the few hours it's open I can't enjoy what I paid for. And their service isn't the greatest to be totally honest. I would suggest like other hotels to have their hot tub open till 9. read more

Location, location, location. Of all the Montauk hotels I've stayed in, Montauk Blue offers the best oceanfront views. There's a nice indoor pool as well as the beach to enjoy. I reserved early and asked for a first floor oceanfront room which I got. Views were great, and the deck had a nice solid overhang for shelter from rain and sun. The room was modern and clean with a small fridge, microwave, sink, dishes and a Keurig coffee maker. The air conditioner was noisy but it did work fairly well. Quiet family atmosphere with a diverse friendly clientele. Tip: Try to book week nights if your schedule permits, as pricing is much more reasonable than on weekends. read more

I stayed at Montauk Blue Hotel in July 2025. On the first night, I discovered the king bed mattress was wet inside. I immediately reported it and asked staff to inspect. While the mattress was replaced, management later implied that I or my family caused the problem, which is untrue. Their follow-up letters contained factual inaccuracies (e.g., who was in the bed, lighting conditions, inspection timeline). At checkout, when I tried to defend myself, I was crying and upset -- but not abusive. Management escalated by calling the police to escort me out, which was humiliating. I only asked for a fair acknowledgment and apology, not money. Management refused further discussion. read more

Just stayed at this hotel for the first time and was super pleased! The hotel is on the beach, but if you pay a bit extra then you can get a room facing the beach. There are 2 floors, but you can put in a request to be on the 1st floor so you're able to walk right onto the beach. They have chairs available that you can bring to the sand, and it's pretty private since only hotel guests are allowed there. They also have an indoor pool, which I didn't have a chance to go in but it looked nice. The location is perfect because it's next to the main town area, so it's only a 5 minute walk to all the shops and restaurants. If I come back to Montauk again next summer, I'll definitely be staying at this same hotel. read more

2.5 stars. It was a great location right on the beach and could walk to breakfast, lunch and dinner for some places. But our room when we got in the sink was cracked top to bottom so we had a dinner reservation that we were late for because we had to wait for maintenance to come check it out and fix. Which they just recaulked it as previously done. That set us back about 45 minutes. Then to take a shower there was long hair in the shower as if it wasn't even cleaned, I wore my flip flops to shower. The bed was terrible and the room curtains had mold on bottom. We came end of season but still I don't know if I would stay there again. Looking at bill part of the charges was $150 for parking, which getting spot in the lot was tough at times so I found that a bit ridiculous. read more

Catfish!! That's the word that came to mind when I think about this place. Major catfish hotel. And expensive! From the photos, this place look divine. And that's about it. Showed up to a run down looking motel. Still blue. But it just wasn't anything they showed in the photos. Didn't look warm, inviting or welcoming. I came last month in September. Just the end-ish of high season. It was still busy. Still booked out. Requested a upstairs room since I'm claustrophobic and I need my windows open. They gave me the key to a room that can't be open. It was bizarre as If someone locked it from inside? They thought I wasn't trying hard enough, they came to try and open it. Still didn't work. So! Bottom floor room it was. Can't leave any windows or doors open. It's the boardwalk/ balcony/ shared walk patch. People walking by constantly. They also always look inside. The curtains closed! Lame!! Minus that debacle, room was tiny. Bed was small: everything was just meh. I also got there on a cloudy day. Look worst than it actually is. The next day, the sun came out. They have beach chairs and umbrellas you can ask for. It helps the stay a little but I was leaving that day. Overall, didn't look anything like the photos!! Not that great. Not that comfortable. Not that pretty. Or fun of a stay. I guess it's what you get for $$$$ price when you're in the Hamptons area!! Skip! read more

Each year we always do a weekend out in Montauk to experience the fall festival that takes place in town every Columbus day weekend (am I still allowed to call it that.. what's the PC term? Ah, Indigenous Peoples' Day). After always going to Atlantic Terrace (RIP... now even more ridiculously priced "Marram") we needed to find a new place. And that we did in Montauk Blue. It is a fairly ideal location with beach front rooms, an indoor pool, plenty of parking which they allow two cars per room, and a short walk to the town circle center. The rooms are not super fancy - very blue as the name suggests. Most have a pull out couch as a second bed so if you have more than 2 in a room you might want to consider bringing an air mattress because that sofa bed will jack your back for sure. Our bathroom had a nice large sink top and the shower had great water pressure. Refrigerator in room, but ours was busted so they brought in a replacement. Not sure if the place was sold out, but minimum noise from other guests. Be sure to lock your doors because these rooms all look alike and in the middle of the night you might get a drunken unwelcome guest in your room that scares the crap out of you, then you have to scream at them and make them run away embarrassed. A good story, but not fun in the moment. As with everything on the south fork it is pricey for what you get, but this is still a bit of the old school Montauk hanging on, while gentrification happens all around. It's cool, these places all need to make a buck while they can because if you watch "The Affair" on Showtime you know that Montauk will be under water and abandoned in 25 years. read more

Beyond the filthy room itself they charged us for a room we were not given and they charged and refused to issue a reimbursement. Can you imagine paying for a higher end room. Located right on the beach and 2 blocks from town Montauk Blue is the ideal spot to relax and let the sound of the waves lull your cares away. Like the sounds of the surf? Grab an ocean front room and even with the sliding glass doors closed you will hear the waves. Second floor rooms have a private balcony while first floor rooms allow you to step out of your room and on to the beach. If you don't want to swim in the ocean you can bathe in their heated pool. Queen size room were spacious with a couch and a small table and chairs in case you want to take in a meal. Refrigerator and microwave tucked away under the countertop. My room was clean and quiet with maid service daily. Staff was friendly and polite whenever we encountered them. October is a great month to visit Montauk so go and enjoy. read more

I am in love with this hotel. We got an ocean-view king room on the second floor. After walking into the room, I could not be any happier. There's a ton of space to relax and organize your stuff. There is a kitchenette complete with glassware, cookware, etc. We never used a lot of the kitchen electrics as we ate out for our meals but there's a microwave, mini-refrigerator and a Keurig machine. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful. They advised us on restaurants and taxi service providers. The best part of our stay? THE VIEW. See the photo I uploaded. This room is the perfect escape from NYC. Our room was on top of the beach where you can hear every wave. I slept so well hearing these waves... lullaby to my ears. I appreciated the two extra pillows in the closet (I sleep with a lot of pillows). I also appreciated the extra bath toiletries. Overall, we would come back. We took the LIRR over to its last stop Montauk, and cabbed for 4 minutes to the hotel. Super easy and comfortable. I even prefer Montauk Blue over a bigger hotel/resort like Gurneys. I enjoy the peace and quiet when there's not a lot of people around. Just you and the ocean. read more

My husband and I just returned yesterday from Montauk. It was our first trip to Montauk and the Montauk Blue Hotel helped make it a memorable one ! Location- It is right on the beach! Our room was on the second floor so we had a wonderful view of the ocean! We had a balcony with 2 chairs and a table. We ate breakfast outside every morning and watched and listened to the sweeping waves of the ocean coming to shore. It is also walking distance to the center of town and many restaurants. They also have a beautiful indoor pool and jacuzzi which was great to have on the one rainy day we had. Staff- 5 stars! At the front desk - Janet was excellent. She patiently answered all of our questions and made recommendations for restaurants. Katarina was also very good. The beach staff was also excellent! They gave you 2 complimentary beach chairs, 2 large beach towels, and 1 umbrella. All you had to do is let the staff member know where you wanted them to place those items on the beach. They carried the chairs and umbrella for you and followed you as you showed them the location you wanted to be seated on the beach. If anyone needs it, they have an automatic chair lift to help you get into the pool or jacuzzi. There is a chair lift for each one. Housekeeping staff- very good. Room- very clean. We had a nice sized ocean view room with a king size bed and a sofa sleeper. The mattress was so comfortable! Bathroom was a nice size with a shower. We had a mini fridge, a microwave and a big screen TV. I highly recommend this hotel ! My husband and I plan to return here next year. read more

Best views ever. I have been here twice. I try to go in the later months when the crowd is gone. I'm from Southern Cali. These types of motels are typical along the strip there. This is not a hotel. It's a motel. It's a well-worn beachfront location. They are one of two locations in Montauk this close to the beach. There are better motel setups that are newer--but this place has the best view ever. You sleep to the roar of the ocean waves--and when you open your patio --you are steps away from the water. Some of the rooms have a mini stove, cookware, plates, glasses and utensils, but not all do. If you need this, you should call the hotel to make sure you get assigned to this type of room. All of the rooms have refrigerators and microwaves. I would call this "glamping." Beautiful, but rough around the edges. The basics are clean, but if you are paying top dollar, you might be a little disappointed with your accommodations. The pillows are something to be desired. They are for people who like ultra soft cotton balls to sleep on. If you want a firm pillow, bring your own. I'd like to see the sofa beds updated. The material is a bit faded, and I would not use them. No room is flawless. They are well used. The sinks in the bathroom are new and beautiful, but the shower head and tub are not. They showers appear to have soft water--which is good. Other than that, I can't complain. I come for the view. The hotel and cleaning staff were nice. I thought they were accommodating. read more

Hate rating below 4. I'm usually fair and consistent. And it takes a lot for me to rate a business below a 4. I'm disappointed in this location and will express my dissatisfaction with the business. I'm from the west coast, and when you pay for a beach hotel, you expect the service. I checked in the room smoothly, room was clean, but tv/cable didn't work. Well after 7-8pm, there's no one to help you at the desk. Needed my shirt ironed for a business meeting and there wasn't one single iron around. Called the desk in the am, and no one there to help me, until after 830. Sink was stopped up. You expect this at a motel 6, but not here. The room was fairly clean and came with soap, conditioner, and gargle, but no toothbrush or toothpaste so get your own. The hotel was definitely in need of improvements, deadbolts or stronger door locks to start, in addition to a room that needed deep cleaning, especially given that we paid over $450 for a two-night stay. That aside, as we were packing up we noticed that our jewelry, some clothes, and a wallet was missing. I tried to speak with the person on duty about a possible theft, but she said that there was nothing she could do, but that she'd leave a message for the manager. In the meantime, I spoke with the police since we were heading back home and wanted to file a report while we were still there. Days later when the manager returned my calls, she said that I probably left the sliding back door unlocked or the front door open. Instead of expressing sympathy, we were blamed. Eventually the police found that there were a string of burglaries in Montauk along the strip. There are tons of these little places but this one is right in the center just across the street from the village.. and right on the ocean.. and the prices are ridiculously low for where it is. And it has a pool inside a glass atrium.. not particularly attractive... but... if you fear a rainy day.. well this has you covered.. you can swim all day and not miss out on water fun... Not fancy at all! but.... sliders take you out to the deck and a few feet down will be the walkway to the ocean. Good choice for kids. read more

Do NOT book here this year! We've been going to Montauk for 15 years and staying at Montauk Blue the last 10 years and this year we tried another resort for the first time because Montauk Blue would NOT offer maid service this year and refused to open their pool. I am a front line essential health care worker in a hospital and my husband is a first responder, so the thought of not having daily maid service and daily wiped down surface areas was beyond comprehension. Montauk Blue needs to take COVID-19 seriously and sanitize rooms every day! Along with my 2 week stay elsewhere, we had 3 couples come out and book a few nights, so Montauk Blue not only lost me as a long time faithful customer, but they also lost the 3 couples who would come out and book a room for a few nights as well. Take away points: This resort DOES NOT offer daily maid service which is imperative to cleanliness and proper covid precautions. SHAME ON MONTAUK BLUE!; Also, their pools are CLOSED-even though Governor Cuomo has given townships the authority and all other resort pools in Montauk are open. I am so grateful I branched out and tried another resort. My advice: Stay far away from Montauk Blue resort this summer. read more

The location of this hotel is not to be beat. AMAZING. You can fall out of bed on to the sand. A 2 minute walk to town. The hotel itself though is dated and needs repairs. Our screen door was full of holes and kept falling off the track. The TV set up was old. The refrigerator was old and had no freezer. There was no ice bucket or ice machine. The lighting was poor. We paid off season prices, so I didn't mind. But if I paid full bust out season rates, I may think otherwise. Also, the hotel is very noisy. We had a first floor room and we could hear everything the people above us were doing and saying. It would be nice if guests would take into consideration, that not everyone is up and at em at 6AM and would be quiet. They sit on the balcony and talk on their phones or to each other with no consideration for anyone that was sleeping. read more

I also love that the town is within walking distance so when you need something all ya have to do is take a nice stroll. The room is great although my only negative feed back would be the bathroom is too small and it only has a shower and a small one at that. When you have kids to bath the shower only small bathroom is not cool place to do it. Lol. It is a nice modern looking bathroom and the shower head omg I loved the pressure of but the kids not so much ‍. My room had a microwave and which is a plus in my book. So to end this review so far if I had to choose I would pay another visit here one day. Had a wonderful week with amazing friends! The location and setting make the entire trip worth it, you roll out of bed and spend the entire day on the beach, what more could you ask for. The garbage pails were super tiny and the fridges are poorly placed inside of a cabinet so they don't stay cold but we bring a large cooler anyway so you make it work. The manager, Gabriel, was extremely accommodating and was able to assist with anything we needed. And the redesign of the rooms is really nice. read more

This place was surprisingly good, way over expectations. The amenities are about what you would expect for a beach front stay, rooms are nothing fancy. But the pool was great, indoors so you can go in regardless of weather with a nice adult only hot tub area. Very solid pool, and we were with like 5 families and kids, so we take up a lot of room. Beach access was great, walk to town 2 minutes. What really put it over the top was the effort the staff put in. The pool attendants stressed they weren't life guards, but certainly felt comfortable with their watching all the kids diligently. We lost a prized stuff animal there, and staff found it and fedex it back to us. Really appreciated. read more

This was my 1st hotel stay in Montauk. Everything stated on the website was accurate. The room was clean, the staff was very friendly. I loved the balcony view, no matter what time of the day or night. What was really nice was the cleaning service only went in to clean when you hung a door sign approving their entry. If I wanted to sleep late, I wasn't disturbed. The pool & hot tub area was very clean. I didn't actually use either as the weather was beautiful & I headed for the beach. They had staff that would bring chairs & the umbrella to the beach area & set up the umbrella if you wanted. I will definitely be going back! read more

Let me just start by saying this place needs a manager with actual brains! I am convinced she never graduated high school. The way she spoke to me and 3 of my friends was outrageous. We arrived at the hotel expecting a fun time in montauk and instead was greeted with hostility and anger. The lady I dealt with had no social skills and I was told by 4 other guests how crazy the manager was. I wish I had listened and never wasted any money at this hotel. Our family went during the Covid-19 pandemic after the hotel reopened. We do appreciate that they opened, as we had booked this 4 day vacation months prior and we needed a vacation. Unfortunately, they had no daily maid service, and the indoor pool was kept closed off to the public, which was a huge bummer. We get it, but to have other hotels in area having their pools open, it was difficult. The parking lot area was ok, mostly pea stone gravel everywhere. The rooms had beds that were NOT comfortable at all. They were bouncy and felt cheap. The air conditioner in the room needed to be set to 65 degrees all the time, otherwise the muggy air was pulled into the room and made it balmy and cool. Bathroom was ok, flat screen tv was ok, overall it was similar to a $150/night hotel room without the oceanfront view. The ocean front view was great, thanks to mother nature. Overall, it's run of the mill, but I'd recommend the larger rooms. read more

For Montauk . . . it's 5 stars. But New Yorkers and out of staters be warned. It's just a motel. Pros: Beach front location. Located conveniently to town and 7/11. Walking distance to the main bars in town. The room is clean and nice. Working stove top in the room. Indoor pool and hot tub on property. Cons: They are mid renovation or cut some serious corners. The tub . . . is still from 1980 and chipped. They have a beautiful Keurig machine . . . and give you Foldgers K cups. The rooms are smaller than they appear in the pictures. Montauk Blue has a no cancellation policy. (But unlike other hotels in the area . . . they did not mandate a 3 night minimum stay) Other Con: The woman who was the Pool Rule enforcer took a lot of fun out of the weekend. Technically, she was correct in every rule she enforced. My friends wanted to sit 7 people in the Jacuzzi when the sign said 6. There was room for 8. But rules are rules. This woman didn't charm my friends into following the rules. She used phrases like "This is my house. This is about respect for my house." And then . . . just when I thought she was right and my friends were jerks . . . she wouldn't let a 3 year old put his feet in the Jacuzzi while his mother sat in the tub. She wasn't wrong. She was missing charm. It put a dark cloud over the weekend. (Normally I'd deduct stars for an incident like this . . . but I'd rather she just find warmth rather than punish the whole hotel).
