After staying a few other places in Pismo we stumbled on this place... what a treasure... there were 4 of us both in king rooms..#7 and #1.. so cozy and welcoming.. great big comfy beds with beautiful sheets a and comforters on both. Such perfect amenities in each room.. perfectly decorated and so clean. There was a tray of morning pastries left out for all of us each am.and a great variety of coffee pods in the rooms complete with cups, sugar, creamer etc.. small fridge and microwave in room.. what a great find this place is! I could go on for hours about Grace, she was funny, kind, welcoming and such a beautiful person. I hated to leave her more than leaving Pismo.. I can't wait to go back and see her again. I think we have found our " place" whenever we visit . read more

LOVED THIS PLACE! I took Friday off, had a late breakfast with my girlfriends and when I came home the hubby asked what I wanted to do. Hmm let's hit the road! Somewhere near the ocean not to close (Santa Cruz or San Francisco) and not to far (hubby's not one for long drives). Oh, and cheep! Hubby's been out of work so finances are super tight but we had some birthday $$ that would cover our meals so we both hopped on-line to find a cheep Hotel/motel on the coast. Pismo? Sure! Umm, not much available at least in our price range except this cute little Inn with only 12 reviews but 5 stars. Really? 5 Stars? And totally reasonable .. My code word for crazy cheep especially being so close to the water. But the pictures looked awesome and the reviews were pretty amazing so I picked up the phone and booked our room. Grace is the Inn Keeper and you couldn't ask for a more friendly person. She had me cracking up and told me to hurry up and get in the car already. We were packed and out the door in 20 minutes. When we arrived, Grace met us out front of her office and greeted us with a smile. Parking stalls are pretty tight but we squeezed in. We got our keys to room 7 and headed upstairs. Super cute room!! Completely remodeled and exactly as other Yelpers claimed. Hardwood floors, granite countertops, tasteful cabinetry with plenty of storage, and all the necessary amenities for a beach getaway. Lets talk about the bed. The bed was the most comfortable cloud of heaven. I swear I would have packed it in the car if I could have. Ya, would have stayed another night but the Inn was sold out so we had to leave in the morning. The only drawback was the noise from the street in the morning and the view or lack of one. But it was not a deal breaker for sure. Location is ideal, rooms are Fantastic and Grace's hospitality is unbeatable. I'm already thinking about a girls trip back with my daughter. Pice was so remarkable you'll question it but trust me, it's the best value and better quality than any overpriced ocean view rooms in town. read more

We took a roadtrip from San Diego and were very pleased with our choice of Beachcomber Inn! First of all, Grace is very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Check-in is at 2pm, which is great considering the 3 or 4pm check-in so many hotels have now. We had a king room, corner unit which offered 3 windows. The room was clean, updated, and quite spacious, with a small kitchenette (sink, mini frig, microwave, paper plates, napkins, and plasticware, and best of all a Keurig coffee maker complete from many different coffee pods to choose from!) This homey hotel was about a block from the ocean as well as restaurants and shops. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay here again! read more

Grace is awesome!!! I really enjoyed talking with her and sharing some fun laughs. She was a very gracious host and made sure we had everything we needed. She's a good sport and makes you feel like family. The place itself is very clean, very beach themed, includes everything and more for the bathroom, coffee, and offers a large selection of tv channels on Directv. The location is perfect and very close to the beach and every restaurant in downtown Pismo. The beds were full-size, which was just enough and very comfortable. I honestly think this little hotel can compete with a Vegas hotel, and win. As soon as my girlfriend and I arrived, Grace made us feel welcomed and like at home. The price for this heavenly room was just perfect. Affordable and completely worth it. The location is perfect. Literally 105 steps from the beach, pier, stores and restaurants. There is EVERYTHING you could ever think of and need in that room. Comfortable bed. Clean, nice looking bathroom. Nice TV. Coffee maker. We will definitely come back. We loved this place. We stayed a few times. Property is clean and well kept. In a great location. We NEVER had any issues and we called to book another stay the owner said to us that we aren't welcome at her property. The outside of beachcomber Inn is very deceiving. It looks like a small hole in the wall motel. It only has seven rooms. But when you enter into those rooms, you see one of the most well thought out and beautiful rooms to stay in. The owners have thought of pretty much everything and everything is tastefully done. For example, they have coffee and tea, but it is equipped with a Keurig and a wide selection of coffee and tea pods. It has a microwave and refrigerator, but it also has utensils and plates if you have food . the bathroom has everything you could want. And if you forget a toothbrush or shaving kit, they are supplied free of charge. This is just a taste of the thoughtfulness in this wonderful motel. read more

Beachcomber Inn's location is perfect! Super close to the beach, the pier and alot of eateries! It gets loud but it calms down after about 10pm. 5 stars for location! The hotel room itself is super charming. Very nicely done on the details. Complete with everything you need and very well stocked. Towels, q-tips, makeup remover, plastic spoons and forks, Keurig K-cups, cream & sugar, etc. Grace (the Inn Keeper) is very sweet, too! We stayed in Room 2 with 2 full size beds. This room did not have AC so it was pretty uncomfortable after being at the beach all day and you come back in your room to relax and it is stuffy. We bought a fan to help and that pretty much fixed the problem. Only used one bed. It was not the comfiest either. Hopefully, that would be their next project...put AC and replace old beds. We were there for one night and left that room cleaner then we go it that's for sure! She took the time out of her pathetic life to send a letter saying that she was disappointed that we left the room a mess. Really chick? Don't send me a letter before you check for facts. We kindly try to say it must be a mistake but she cut us short on the phone and said she didn't need to hear anymore that she knew she was right. We will NEVER EVER COME BACK! Even if we did leave the room a mess how unprofessional is it to send a letter saying how disappointed you are about it? Very cute boutique motel that is a less expensive alternative to the ones on the beach, but only a block away. The street is a bit noisy and there's very little to insulate the sound, but the rooms are generally cute and well-updated. Longer vehicles will have trouble with the small, tight, 90 degree parking spaces. read more

Update: I have been contacted via email by the owner asking me to retract my statement. I have meant to update the review, but have been busy. Upon further investigation by multiple doctors and dermatologists, I was bit by something in the room or immediate area. They said most likely not bed bugs, but another bug. Maybe sand fleas. Seeing as how the rest of my family stayed elsewhere and we did everything else together besides sleep in the same hotel, and they were unaffected, the only conclusion could be something in the hotel. The several doctors I paid a lot of money to see agreed. Yes the room is charming, and like I said good location... But I will not be returning due to my experience, and as Yelp is a place to rate your experience and either recommend or not recommend the place, I will be leaving my review up... Not recommended. I would add stars, but feel I am allowed to share my experience for others. They can take that as they will... In no way am I trying to sabotage the business... But personally I would like to know if this has happened to someone else so I could take precautions if I chose to stay there. ******************************************** 3 stars for the location -next to beach, but close to bars so depending on why your there it can be good or bad. No A/C so you have to sleep with the windows open when it's hot so you hear the drinks at night. 1-star: My issue with this place is BED BUGS. I got bit all over and to be honest I'm quite disgusted :(. Cute little room but very disappointed considering I'm covered in bites and in a wedding next weekend. This is the most charming Inn I've ever had the pleasure of staying at. The lady who owns it has high energy, is super funny, and incredibly accommodating. I found this review to be tricky, because it has to address different vacation styles: First, let me say the good: amazing job of a higher end interior remodel! A cut above, I must say. Also, amazing friendly service, above and beyond, the employees seem so happy! The bad news is that even though I had super nice quiet neighbors, you can hear every word. I shudder to think what could have happened if I had partiers for neighbors. Speaking of party, there are two establishments that serve alcohol within a *very* short distance. Please don't imagine yourself going to sleep early and arising refreshed for a morning beach run. Next to the motel is a dirt parking lot where dudes hope to attract drunk chicks coming out of the bars, by spinning their wheels and creating a dust cloud, then honking to show how awesome their trucks are. Just in case you can ignore the horns, they shout too. The parking is a bummer, very narrow turn clearance and poles in the way. They were nice enough though to save a space for me with a parking cone. This should not affect you if you have a small car though. The bedding did not smell fresh (by bedding I mean the comforter, blanket, head pillows, pillow shams, and decorative throw pillows). I believe the sheets were clean though, and the bed itself was top of the line. So, to summarize, you will absolutely love this motel if your lifestyle fits into the party model above, and you definitely won't feel cheated on the quality just because you're a partier. For you twig-eaters, the seekers of seaside nirvana, *keep on movin' pardner*, northbound up the coast a bit. read more

My family and I recently stayed here and I feel the need to be honest about our time spent here. It is close to some great shops, the beach, and restaurants. The rooms are decorated nicely and extremely clean. The house keeping service deserves 5 stars! The place is located right next to a dirt parking lot and two noisy bars. You can hear people partying there all night! We heard several honking contest and bike racing down the street. It continued until 3am. The rooms can get warm at night and you can't open windows because of the noise. The parking is not ideal. Your limited to narrow parking spots under the rooms. Only about 6 spaces and a brick wall between the place and the dirt lot. If you have an SUV it makes parking very challenging. I also felt the inn keeper was not overly friendly or helpful during our stay. I also think they mattresses need to be replaced. They offered no support and were very uncomfortable. This place is perfect if you want to experience the Pismo night life, but not ideal for families wanting a place to stay. read more

It's moments away from the beach and the main streets of Pismo. More importantly, Grace is such a warm, welcoming, and friendly owner. Not terrible. Door had a lock on it and two light bulbs working. It is really inexpensive and near the pier and has free parking and available street parking. Also nice foam beds. Morning coffee was paired with a fine, chalk white non dairy creamer causing a flavor I would not have imagined had I not tried it. We did get the room with a view though, just lean on the balcony and look carefully between the buildings. Overall, it was a deal and not scary so you could go here with kids. The curb appeal doesn't reflect the charm and quaintness of this lovely little place. A great location and walking distance to everything. The staff were very welcoming. Grace aka Amazing Grace was very sweet and helpful. We had room 7 which I would recommend if given a chance. The room was a good size and very clean. The Mr and I went to Pismo for a Saturday afternoon and thought Hey if we can get a room we can partake of Adult beverages. So we walked over to the Beachcomber and for less than $150 including taxes, we had a free pass to hang out at Harry's and the Hot Shot. Yay-Us! The motel has only 7 rooms, it is walking distance to all the fun stuff, the beach, pier, restaurants, bars, shopping, bowling, pool, games. The room was clean and cute! We had two double beds- we only used one and it was firm and comfortable, I don't know why but the density of the pillows reminds me of a Grandma's house- weird huh?-but not in a bad way. The heater is a fireplace in the wall with glass covering it, so when you turn up the thermostat the fire starts and the heat radiates off the glass into the room. It gives the room a nice glow at night. PSA: Warning- it is Hot! Someone I know but I won't say who, thought he might touch it to see if it was hot......FYI-it was. This would be a perfect place to stay if you are staying in Pismo for an extended amount of time here. They have a micro, fridge, a Kuerig WITH an assortment of K-Cups, filtered water at the sink (they have an under-counter filter at the Kitchen sink), 2 ceramic coffee mugs, to-go coffee cups, creamer, sugar and stir sticks. In the bathroom goodies were q-tips, cotton balls, makeup remover, a nice assortment of stuff - I can't remember everything but I was amazed at the thought that went into making you feel at home. They weren't small hotel sizes, the q-tips and cotton balls were in a decent size container and the makeup remover wipes were a pack of 40. So it was like use what you need and leave the rest, not toss all the mini shampoos and lotions into your suitcase when you leave like you're at the Hilton. I saved the best part for last- all of the rooms are upstairs, so when you get to the top of the staircase there are magazines to read and a bowl filled with Zingers, Twinkies with frosting, Choc-o-diles, and Cinnamon Crunchy cakes! What a perfect little hotel!!! The quality of the decor and fixtures is wonderful! Super comfy bed, great location, ocean breeze, little kitchenette area (no stove), little gas fireplace. Only (small) downside is that they don't serve any breakfast, only Danishes and cookies (from a local bakery, so that's a plus). We stayed there last weekend and the inn keeper Grace who was so sweet, already sent us a thank you card for being wonderful guests! I have to say we liked our room 7, because the window by the bed faces the oceanside for a nice breeze, and it has a little seating area outside the door with 2 chairs. I've stayed at high-end hotels that charge several times more and have yet to see a fraction of the hospitality my family and I experienced here. My husband and I have been going there for over 15 years; he found it when we were dating and it has been our go-to for good memories and fun. We got married in Pismo, that's how much we liked it there. The Beachcomber is the only place we stay; right by the water, close to downtown (touristy) Pismo and the rooms are super cute and exactly what you want and need for a weekend getaway. Don't stay here. Unless you like Motel 6. This is basically a (barely) upgraded Motel 6. For $30 more you can stay at a gorgeous place 3 yards down the road with a lobby and security. The room at beachcomber has a musty smell, the rugs are filthy, and it's depressing. Whoever wrote that these rooms are gorgeous was obviously paid to do so. The shower was cold to lukewarm. You can hear everything from the rooms next door. Grace is a nasty person who can sometimes be nice. She came up to hand me my receipt, and I asked "Oh, is this the Wi-Fi password?" And she barked at me "If you ask me ONE more question, I don't know what I'll do!!!!" (I had previously asked if there was heat). Save yourself aggravation; go somewhere else. read more
