Despite the low rating here we decided to give it a shot & the entire family enjoyed the experience. Our waitress was so attentive and sweet and their specials were so value. They had a lobster bake which was one medium lobster, 1 lb shrimp, and 1 lb clams for $55. They also had soft shell crabs with two sides for $22. Both were delicious and their cream of crab soup was popular in our party as well. Decided to give this place a shot and ignore the mediocre rating. Service was ok, but the food was some of the worst we had anywhere in our 10 years of coming to the beaches. More details below. 2 adults and 4 children, so we started off with 3 orders of Onion Rings so we had plenty of finger food for the table while we waited for our main dishes. The rings arrived, and "plenty" they were not. We got about 4-5 onion rings per plate, so they didn't last long at all. To their credit, they were the tastiest thing we were served. Wife and I got the seafood feast and opted for medium amount of seasoning on our shrimp when asked. The feast consisted of an ok'ish tasting lobster with the most plain and unseasoned shrimp, clams, and crab. The crab was some of the most anemic crab, and we had to work at it for a very long time to get any meat at all out of it. Two girls split a fried shrimp meal with two sides (they for some reason went with 2x macaroni salad). The macaroni salad was warmer than their 8 shrimp they split. Our oldest boy said his buffalo shrimp were really good, but he would eat a dog turd covered in ketchup and not complain. Better than expected! In town to visit family and they brought us here for dinner. As we looked at the so-so reviews ... we weren't too sure about this place, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Arrived around 7pm on a Saturday night and the place seemed very empty. We had our choice of tables and picked a high-top in the bar area (so we could watch game 2 of World Series - Go Phillies!). The bartender/waiter Rick brought us menus and we quickly ordered some drinks ... (good) Planters Punch for me, (extra good) DFH Hazy-O & (then) MRB Reach Around beers for DH, and water for everyone else. After studying the menu and specials ... we got the (nicely portioned) Bacon Wrapped Scallops ($24.95), (standard) Grilled Salmon ($21.95), and the (very nice) Steam Pot ($65). I especially enjoyed the steam pot with 1 lb Snow Crab, 1 lb Mussels, 1 doz Oysters, 2 doz Clams ... which (despite my hesitation) seemed fresh and was very tasty. DH also got the (creamy) Cream of Crab soup ($8.95) and I had the (ok) Maryland Crab ($7.95). DH then needed to satisfy his sweet tooth and had the Key Lime dessert ($6) ... which came as a small round tartlet, that DH said was really good. We all enjoyed our meals, but the best part was the service. When I got it home the cream of crab was lousy even after mixing it up it taste like flour(17.96) took it back to restaurent talked very quietly didn't want to make a scene I guess it was the manager on duty. Heard good things about this local restaurant in Milton, DE. When I called the young lady was pleasant & very efficient taking my order. I believe the same lovely lady greeted me when I picked up my order for takeout. If I were to base it on pleasantries & service my rating would be higher. Unfortunately we got to the food. We ordered crab cakes and were greatly looking forward to them. They were very fishy tasting; lots of filler & not of the genuine lump crab meat kind. In fact we couldn't bring ourselves to eat a ¼ of our crab cakes. They were not worth the exorbitant price. Now our child had tenders - should be good right? Wrong! One tender was probably the size of a child's thumb. Certainly not enough to keep a hungry kid happy. So our meal was a huge fail. We are hungry and out of pocket @60-70$ Way not worth it. read more

We went to beaches restaurant in Milton this week. The food portion they serve you is an insult , we ordered Flounder, the flavors were delish, but the real kick in the ass was the insane prices! We don't think the flounder was even legal to catch ! The manager told us , well the prices since COVID has caused us to raise our prices. First let me say that this review is based on my experience here with the following conditions that were beyond the control of the owner. Covid 19 spacing, limited seating capacity, masks, etc. This was also the opening weekend which expected would have its share of gaffs that would otherwise be no nos. I will try them again in 2021 for dinner and at least once for steamed crabs and then will be able to make a final decision. The past couple of restaurants in this location failed, but due to proximity in town there seems to be an new opportunity for more patrons wanting to stay closer to home. There are plans for a fish monger on site at some point and this will help traffic. ATMOSPHERE - nice clean open spaces. This will be a nice crab place - but quiet dinners will not be the norm here. SERVICE - Plenty of staff, at least on the floor, polite and attentive. Nice job. The only issue is they needed some training on exactly they were selling. Even new openings need this as the diners need some guidance. Wait time - None - We were seated right away as there was plenty of room - we did have reservations which are recommended with covid protocol. MENU - Decent selection of appetizers, basic seafood main courses, nothing fancy or anything that stands above. PRICES - I think t heir prices are a little higher than average and this would be ok if the food was better than average. NITTY GRITTY - Ordered some apps - Crab dip and onion rings - neither were anything to rave about - center of crab dip was actually cold. If you like Baltimore style Jumbo Lump Crabcakes, this is not the place to get them. I ordered broiled, they looked like baked salmon cakes. Small and not much lump - the cake was held together by a filler comprised of special grade meat, eggs and I think, some bread crumbs. The meat was fresh and had a good taste but the overall meal was a dissapointment. Overpriced and under standard. Save your money for crab cake urges for Woodys. Presentations - looked like cafeteria plating with monkey dishes - nothing there. Put a piece of kale a lemon slice - anything! We also had a stuffed shrimp platter and a salmon platter - both were as put - ok - Nothing stood out. Took a while to get the meal and considering how few diners there this was subpar. I hope they are able to move things along going forward if it should happen to get busy. Sides were also a dissapointment. Oh, charging a premium for your mac & cheese side - NO WAY - I have better mac and cheese out of a box. This could have been a big plus if this was a cheesy casserole homemade creation - I'm not sure where this even came from. Desserts - Standard restaurant fare - just ok. Would like to see something original or at least made on the premises. Cocktails - Beer & Wine ok - Mixed drinks - well below minimum standard. Overview - This place will definitely need to ramp it up from opening jitters if it is going to standout and be a want to go to destination. For what was received it is overpriced, charging tourist beach prices in small town won't sit well with most of the patrons and my guess is that it will be a crab house before a restaurant as long as the crabs are competitive price , fresh and full. I will return when they have hopefully ironed out the kinks and try the crabs next season. will review both. Gave it two stars because of the opening weekend , but if this was 3 months in 1 star. I am not sure why this place does not have a better rating. We happened upon this place on vacation, looking for a place for lunch after a long drive from NY. We first stopped at a place across the street and ended up walking out because of the treatment by staff. Beaches was a nice quiet atmosphere. The staff was great. Friendly and attentive. The food was great with a good portion size. My husband got the fish and chips and the fish was so amazing (best I have had), that 2 of my picky eating children liked it!! The prices were good and we really enjoyed out visit. We attempted to go back before we headed home but unfortunately they were closed due to a staff shortage. It unfortunate but since my husband owes his own pizza shop back home we understand this all too well. We will definitely go back to this place on our next trip to the area!! read more

Not sure where the negativity comes from in a lot of the reviews. We literally avoided the place because of that and a friend asked us to join her and a few others for dinner. Damn, what a great experience and surprise! Food was super, service wonderful, and the owner came out to greet us when we told home we were first timers and even brought out some of his renowned clam strips on him!!!! Crab cakes -yes! Fried Shrimp- bangin'! Crabby Burger- like none I ever had! Best kept secret in Milton. Only reason for 4 versus 5 stars is the shortness on staff, but Tamara was on top of things. Preface- I'm a former waitress/bartender myself and I am ULTRA understanding of restaurant dynamics so I look at every dining experience with a forgiving heart especially when it comes to the waitstaff in particular; however I felt like this review needed to be made- my first one ever. We had a party of 8: 4 children and 4 adults and were seated quickly. It took about 10+ minutes for the waitress to come take our drink order. The chocolate milk they served our children was absolutely spoiled and curdled. The seafood was clearly not fresh. Everyone's food came out pretty timely except for mine, which didn't come out for 15+ minutes past everyone else's and they had made a substitution on my meal of an out of stock item without asking my preference. No big deal, the substitution was fine. We waited an extremely long time to get a check, which our waitress did not check if it needed to be split or not. She did kindly offer to give the kids ice cream after the spoiled milk incident but seemed very offended when I kindly asked her to not say the words too loud (anyone who is a parent of children knows what I mean!) because we already were a little leery of dairy from that kitchen and didn't want to get the kids' hopes up. Wow, so many high hopes for this place. It was so bad, I'm puzzled how they're still in business. I can only assume that their customer service was the only thing that's good about here. The food was pretty much low grade frozen seafood and prices weren't cheap either. My fish were paper thin and shrimps were mediocre at best. We had a party of seven tonight, took over an hour to get our food. We have been here two hours and just finished our dinners. The music was too loud, hard to carry on a conversation without shouting at each other. My meal of fried oysters with fries and coleslaw was very disappointing. The oysters were tiny with too much breading and greasey. The fries were barely warm and limp. The coleslaw had too much mayo and no flavor. Now, I'm a fan of fried oysters. A creamy textured oyster with tasty breading is treat for my taste buds. I judge a fried oyster by how it tastes all by it's lonesome, sans any kind of sauce either cocktail or tartar. My girlfriend and I, both devotee's of fried oysters went to Beaches Seafood Restaurant to try their cuisine. We ordered the fried oyster, onion rings and I ordered Carl's Coleslaw. Well, the oysters were flavorless to the point where I dipped them in the cocktail sauce, as well as the tartar sauce to give the poor little buggers a bit of flavor. Carl's Coleslaw was topped with paprika, but once you got down to the actual coleslaw itself, it was average. Sorry, Carl, it was a no go. Better luck next time. The one thing that was good were the onion rings. But then again, how can you mess up onion rings? If you can't even get that right, you might as well close the restaurant and think seriously about opening a dry cleaning establishment. The onion rings saved the meal from being a total washout. We visited with an old friend and had lunch at Beaches in Milton Wednesday. We received excellent service from Amber. The restaurant was clean and inviting. We ordered the steamed clams, crab legs, steamed shrimp, clams strips, fried oysters and desserts that were made by our server Amber. Everything was spot on, flavored well and cooked properly. Nice enough place, and they have early bird specials until 6pm. I ordered steamed clams and a crab cake. Clams were good, served with melted, not clarified butter. Came with a side, and I ordered broccoli which was steamed nicely. The broiled crab cake was tiny, and although they claim it is 100% lump and no filler, it seemed like backfin to me. Very little filler, if any. This is somewhat of a problem, because *no* filler = no real taste. I put a lot of Old Bay on it, and it was ok. The crabmeat tasted fresh. The potato salad was also extremely bland. Overall, the food I had was ridiculously under seasoned. The dining room is quite large, and note, the parking lot is quite small. I expected the place to be packed since literally every parking spot was taken, but most tables were unoccupied. If I had to guess, they have 25 parking spots for a place that seems to seat 100+, so don't be scared off by a full lot. Bartenders were friendly. I'll go back, but there are better places in Milton for clams and crab cakes. They do have several steamer specials, which seemed to be priced well. read more

Let me start by saying that I am an ex employee and this review is not done in malice or in any negative intent this is done because it was my birthday weekend and I had 12 other people with me we expected the same service we would get anywhere else the service that was received was so below subpar and ignorant and rude that leaving any type of a review is laying very salty on my tongue I spoke with the general manager and let him know the 12 other people that were with me have never been there before is unacceptable letting the manager know that no one had come to the table for 45 minutes and these people had to go to the bar to order that food and drinks is unacceptable knowing that we had to go and pick up our checks at the bar because no one brought them to us and then once we left them there to be paid she left peoples credit card sit in the open along with cash in the open ended and acknowledge anybody's existence is unacceptable this is how you want to let your restaurant be I don't believe so but I can tell you there will be additional reviews from the people that were with me that will be unacceptable I am trying to let you know this so that you make the changes needed because again let me clearly make note that this is not done in any malice or any anger this is done so that you acknowledge the fact that your employees do not care. If they did the Bartender would have paid attention to the table basically only table she had the entire night that is why she got a $31 tip on one credit card and nothing else on the others and please let her know that in case she doesn't see this because she needs to be aware that she did not Earn the tips that she did receive they were given to her because the person that tipped her has a heart and knows that no one else wants this poor service.
