The food was decent. My wife had fish and chips. The fish had a heavy batter and was too greasy. Fries and coleslaw were fine. I had a burrito which tasted OK but not what was described. Service was fine. The atmosphere is good. Fun location with positive energy. read more

YUK!!! I invited a guest to come from SAN DIMAS for lunch based on all of these wonderful reviews which are basically BS. I was greeted by an ogre at the front door who stopped me telling me I wasn't able to enter the restaurant yet because they weren't open and the staff wasn't ready. Really? You open at 11 and it's 1050 right now so 10 minutes before opening time? I would think that an experienced manager would schedule employees to start a half an hour before their shift starts so they could do their set up. But that's obviously not the case, they show up at 11, opening time. Why we couldn't sit down inside because silverware hadn't yet been placed on the table is unbeknownst to me. What an unwelcome greeting if you could call it that. Had I not had a super special guest with me I would've walked away!! Anyway, I guess it was a blessing that he wouldn't let us in because the inside of that dump reeks like an old bar. That's basically what it is just a big bar with gross pre-made food. Now let's get to the food, I ordered a chicken quesadilla but unfortunately It didn't really have any chicken in it. When I ordered, the waiter said that the pico de Gallo was on the inside and asked me if that was OK. Thinking about it I realized that the quesadillas are obviously premade and you have no option to get the pico de gallo or whatever that stuff was that tasted frozen, On the side. The cheese tasted super processed, I ate one piece and threw the rest away. My guest ordered fish and chips and when I saw the waiter take her plate away I asked why it was still on there and she didn't eat anything. She said the crust was disgusting so she only ate the fish on the inside. What's that, 25 bucks down the drain? In my opinion this place is for dunks, bar flies, people who think the food tastes good because they're drunk and at that point all food tastes good, right? The picture below shows the quesadilla that I received, the online price was $17 but you know how restaurants never update their prices! since I didn't pay I don't know but I'm guessing way more than $17 as it was an appetizer. I have no idea what kind of pico de gallo that's supposed to be. Tastes somewhat pickled like it comes out of a jar. Service was good! We were there for the happy hour. We were immediately seated. The service was outstanding. The happy hour menu was wonderful and when we received our order it met and exceeded our expectations. We sat outside when we came here. It was a cool day and very nice. The waitress was friendly. I ordered the poke bowl. Delicious! Others order the bbq salad, chicken sandwich, chicken quesadilla and the fish and chips. Everyone enjoyed their food. There 4 stars is for the fish and chips. The batter wasn't cooked all the way through but my sister ate the fish part of it. The fries were really good. Everything on the menu looks good. It was a hard decision. If I make it up there again, I will definitely try other items on the menu. read more

First time we've come here and definitely would go back again when in this area. Really nice inside this place and it was hopping with lots of people. Great staff. DOG FRIENDLY PATIO - so dine with your pooches! We tried the Mai Tai and would get it again. Small glasses with ice, but yum! First one came out with a pineapple wedge that we really liked, but 2nd one didn't. I tried the Lime & The Coconut drink and sorry to say, it was too limey for me. Didn't taste any coconut in it. My wife got the Coconut Shrimp with apricot marmalade and she's getting that again the next time there - loved it. She also got the Braised Pork Sliders too, good but a little dry. We should have asked for more sauce and it would have been better. I got the Low & Slow Brisket Sandwich and it was excellent. Got the Cream Filled Churros, they were just okay. Sorry to say not much flavor to them and a little dry. read more

Meh, not our fave! We started with dessert- because that's our thing! We had to try the S'mores because it's a recipe they've had for 20+ years. It was not good. Marshmallow was overly burned and you could taste in every bite. I ordered the Bbq chicken salad and it was overly lettucy- not good dressing and the chicken was insanely dry. My older one had a chicken quesadilla and didn't even enjoy one slice. The fries and Mac n cheese were the hit. Everything was very mediocre and the tables were incredibly sticky! read more

Great experience! Local art on the walls give the whole place that effortlessly cool, creative energy that makes you want to stay awhile. From the moment we walked in, Edgar (the owner) greeted us and showed us to our table. His warmth set the tone for the whole experience--genuine hospitality that you don't find just anywhere. Alyssa was our server and she was absolutely wonderful--friendly, attentive, and totally unfazed when we needed to shift tables to make room for a last-minute joiner. She made the switch smooth and seamless, and kept the good vibes flowing the entire time. And now... the food. Everything tasted fresh, vibrant, and clearly made with care. From the fresh ahi tacos to the filet medallions everything was delicious- the crispy calamari was so nice we ordered it twice! Saturday night sat outside, service glacially slow and food was TERRIBLE. When we told our waitress one dish was missing a key ingredient listed on the menu, she disagreed and said it was "under the cheese." (It wasnt). The food was amazing but the hostess and server both had zero personality; not friendly at all and I don't think they smiled once. On top of that, we sat outside on the patio and had to wrap up our meal early because there were GIANT cockroaches running around the patio on the floor. I get that it's outside, but it's unsanitary and they can at least set up traps. My daughters were terrified. The server took forever to give us boxes and run our card so we could leave. read more

Was a nice little place, we were at a women's church conference and stopped for dinner. The lobster shrimp tacos were good wish they had more than 1 piece of lobster. We sat on the patio with the heaters and were nice. The servers were great. They have live band inside and was loud that why we sat outside. read more

When you leave for a long time because quality was going downhill, then return to find that the previous decision was vindicated, it is disappointing. Add into that the exorbitant price increases from inflation, Covid, rent increases, disappointment is exacerbated. We only had what turned out to be cold nachos with pulled pork, which unfortunately was coated with a BBQ sauce, complemented primarily by Cheese Whiz and a $3 tablespoon of guacamole. This translates into not returning again for another several years. Service from Eric (?) was excellent and he answered beer questions and had the nachos reheated. read more

Went here to eat with my friend. A local spot good for music and I would say most known for that. It's loud so expect that if you are looking for lively this is the place for you! Had to order in under 5 minutes before the kitchen closed. Grabbed a burger, tacos, and a lemon drop. The food was slightly above normal bar food and the lemon drop was more vodka than lemon. Keep it simple and go for wine or a beer here. Lots of seating upstairs and down. Recommended for groups! read more

My husband and I went Thursday for dinner. Although they were busy, the staff was very attentive throughout the night. We started with the bleu cheese wedge and chicken habanero flatbread. Both came out in a very timely matter and were very delicious. We also shared the braised pork sliders and the pineapple upside down cake to finish. The pineapple upside down cake was the star of the show for me as the cake was super soft with a crunchy caramelized top. We really enjoyed our night together and were happy to enjoy the live music of the night. Beach fire is a very lively place but still relaxed enough for us to have a conversation. I'd highly recommend Beachfire to anyone visiting San Clemente! read more

Rounding up to five stars, because I really enjoyed my dinner here as well as the happy hour. Drinks! Service was very friendly and welcoming, the restaurant is beautiful, nicely done. They have a great variety on their menu, I enjoyed the salmon sandwich immensely. Their side salad was also delicious. Drinks were very well made and everything brought out in a timely manner. Big difference when ownership cares about the finished product . We split the wings and coconut shrimp. As appetizers. both were equally tasty . Eating at this place is always a good time. They have really good options on drinks and dishes that make it hard to pick one, since they're all good, however the coconut shrimp and the buffalo chicken flatbread are two of my favorites dishes. The service is always exceptional starting with the Edgar who always greets with a smile in his face, also my wife and I enjoy having Levi or Megan as our servers, they make sure the table is clean, the drinks are full, and the food is arriving on time to our table. My wife and I definitely always have a good time there specially when they have live music. read more

Of course like many bars it can get crowded later in the evening but for a drink or two after work, it's a great place to spend some time, even by yourself. This is a 4 star review that is 4 for the music, 3 for the food…read more The Coach House Concert Hall is a San Juan Capistrano staple. It runs a lot of cover bands, but also mixes and matches intimate performances from a variety of artists. This year we saw Pokey LaFarge and Madeleine Peyroux. The audience is always going to be mixed, although there is a lot more grey in recent years! The venue has definitely shifted into more of a dinner and a show venue with lots of picnic style tables. The food is overpriced, but not terrible. The baked potatoes are amazing so always order that! Drinks are standard and nothing to write home about, but they do their job. Service is quick and un-fancy. Every seat in the house is a good seat. And the music and acoustics are excellent. Overall, this is a fun spot to stop in at reasonably priced live music and great baked potatoes with acceptable dinner fare and fine drinks. It is a classic and I hope it stays open forever!

I've recently fallen in love with an iced flat white with vanilla for a little summer sweet treat. Their drip coffee is divine too! Talk about range... we frequent for brunch/lunch/date night too. Their wine list is truly endless. You can sit inside at the bar, at a gorgeous table with air conditioning, under their adorable pink-striped umbrellas on the patio, or in an extended patio off the sidewalk with plenty of seating. You will be treated with exceptional service regardless of seating. Their brunch menu is delicious. Their chive biscuit breakfast sandwich is incredible, as is their breakfast burrito, chilaquiles AND biscuits and gravy. To be fair, we visit most regularly for a cheese board and meat with a glass of wine. Recently enjoyed the ceviche and smash burger with side-winder fries which was hand crafted and filling. Even our young boys enjoyed every bite. On Sunday's (1st and 3rd of the month) they have live music which is wonderful. Last thing, the cellar cookie is incredible. We received a text that our table would be ready at a specific time and then 2 minutes before our table was supposed to be ready we get a text saying we were removed from the wait list with no clarification or follow up. I understand being busy/booked up, but I would have liked to have received accurate information. We could have made reservations online if we had been told. I wore his favorite Goonies Hawaiian shirt and everything expecting to have a nice time talking about my husband. I guess I'm glad we never had the opportunity to experience this level of service with my husband, and guess I won't be back seeing that he's dead and all. Edited to add tips - don't believe anything they tell you on the phone and if you really want to go, make a reservation, and apparently they will close for you if you can guarantee 20 people.

The other side to this coin- the place has the ability to get so packed it looks like a bunch of people trying to cram into a Japanese subway to try to get a drink. The more packed it gets the more rationally frustrated the bartenders get and the drinks fall off. There's good to this place and there's the " we better leave before this place pops the walls out with the amount of people in here". Good to watch some sports, World Cup is on right now and other sports are always playing at the bar. Stop in to Swallows before it gets too packed, you will enjoy it.

She was impatient and rude instead of simply explaining the rules nicely to first-time visitors. We didn't know that each person needed their own bucket, and we also didn't know group picking was not allowed. That could have been explained respectfully. Customer service is not just about enforcing rules -- it's also about treating customers with kindness and patience. What disappointed me the most was how her attitude suddenly changed after I told my friend she was not friendly at all. Then she started smiling and acting nicer to the next guests. First-time customers who don't know the rules deserve clear explanations, not embarrassment and attitude.

I would like to take a moment to tell everybody living in or visiting San Clemente about one of our favorite spots to relax and enjoy dinner, or maybe just have a drink at the bar, while gazing at all sorts of art and listening to some music by local talent. We have been frequent customers of the Beachfire since it opened many years ago. We love its location in main stream San Clemente. Even though the Beachfire is open for lunch, because of our busy daytime schedule, we are only able to enjoy this very unique restaurant in the evening. We have heard though that the lunch menu is very popular. To us, a perfect night out in San Clemente is to get a little dressed up and arrive at the Beachfire about 8:00 PM. We can always count on a friendly reception from the long time crew you will run into including managers Nick and Chris, who are really nice people. We then gaze around to see if there are any changes to the local art collection that decorates the walls. We have our eye on one piece that will probably get sold our changed out if we don't purchase it soon. I believe pretty much all of the art collection is for sale. Also, I love watching whatever popular sports game is on the many TV's throughout the place. Toward the end of the game is when we usually order our dinner. We love the menu because there is such a wide range from appetizers to great dinners that can be ordered. My favorites are the fish and chicken dinners. The food is always consistent and plentiful, in my opinion. Another thing I love about the Beachfire is that when I walk around the restaurant, there is a really cool collection of neat things to look at all around, besides the art collection. It really is San Clemente style throughout the entire restaurant which makes for a great ambience. There also are two patios that you can sit at as well. Then, finally, and this is what really makes the night complete, is when the music starts around 9:00 PM. Depending on the scheduling that I believe Chris handles, there is a wide range of music. Sometimes we call ahead to see who is playing as we plan our night out in San Clemente. We have many artists we like, but our favorite is A Bunch of Guys. They are great and we love to come and see them. Take it from me, the Beachfire in San Clemente is a fun night out and is truly a credit to San Clemente. read more

My wife and I were invited to dine at Beach Fire and Grill for a work dinner. Initially, we were a bit skeptical after checking out their reviews on Google and Yelp, mainly because of the images we saw. However, we decided to give it a try. Once we got there, we made our selections without overthinking, opting to choose what appealed to us in the moment. The service we received at Beach Fire and Grill was quite pleasant. The staff were attentive and accommodating, making sure we had a comfortable dining experience. Despite our initial reservations, the service helped put us at ease. I have a penchant for sandwiches, particularly those on sourdough bread. My choice, the Grilled Chicken & Avo Melt, was a delight. The combination of grilled chicken and avocado, along with the meltiness of the cheese, created a satisfying and flavorful sandwich. On the other hand, my wife opted for the Low & Slow Brisket Sandwich on a Ciabatta roll. The tenderness of the brisket paired with the unique texture of the Ciabatta roll made for an enjoyable combination. Both sandwiches were served with a generous portion of fries that surprisingly tasted quite similar to Burger King's fries - which, in my book, is a good thing as I enjoy their fries. poor food quality to price ratio, I heard great reviews several years back but the quality has clearly fell along with the service, This may coincide with beachfire preying on less funded restuarants in town and forcibly moving successful business. In lieu of one good brand that was once beachfire, we have now a mediocre restaurant and a horrible pizza joint down the road. San clemente once had two great locations to eat at, beachfire and cassanos by the pier, when beachfire forcibly undermined and took the location of a great pizza joint that had served the community for over thirty years we as a community lost a great pizza joint and evidently beachfire lost the oversight of a dedicated owner who now must oversee more locations and variations of business then he could handle. A community does not benefit when fiscally successful businesses with a loyal patronage that goes back decades is undermined by a newer, larger, capitalized and aggressive business owners who force this small business owner to leave the establishment built over thirty with the support of locals. Im actually amazed a big expensive restaurant that appears to be profitable would want to destroy another mans business and a locals favorite for a small pizza shop. good luck beachfire, your quality has tanked along with your standings with locals, when winter comes you will find the locals are not to be found along with the tourists. Nicks clearly is better quality based on reviews and cassanos has reopened near ralphs, The trajectory of beachfire is downward, I doubt they have the capital to kick nicks out, read more

As a local, I have been to Beach Fire before, and I have to say, every time we go we have a great time! For starters, their calamari and coconut shrimp are by far the best we have ever tasted, and they just added a new cocktail menu featuring a cucumber mojito that is amazing! For dinner, my date and I both had fish, she had the ahi, cooked perfect and served with this amazing ginger soy sauce! I had the panko halibut and was delighted in the jalapeno sauce they served with it. For dessert, you can never go wrong with the smore, hand toasted, we could smell it cooking before it was brought out! The service was great, our waitress was friendly, informative, and very attentive. The atmosphere is great, surrounded by artwork that we found out is all local and all for sale! This place has a great thing going for it! By far the best calamari we have ever had. They also had this ahi dish, similar to an ahi ceviche, very tasty, with a rooster sauce! My wife had the caribben skirt steak, there was enough for two, and the home made chimmichurri sauce they served it with was amazing. I had the blue cheese burger and was impressed with just how much blue cheese i received! we shared the banana creme pie for dessert and would have liked to have ordered two! The vibe was very cool, local art work all over the walls, and live music every night according to our server. A fantastic experience at Beachfire. Ilimela was top notch. After an incident happened at a different restaurant, we were in a scramble to host our staff dinner and we could not have picked a better spot. Ilimela handled it so flawlessly. It was a last minute booking that she totally got right. She got our group set up with the perfect menu and spot in the restaurant. She was hands on from start to finish an ensured our group felt cared for and enjoyed dinner and drinks. The owner Edgar stopped by to greet our group which was a great touch and thoughtful. OK, this is my second review for Yelp and it's all good. I met up with some friends in San Clemente on Saturday and after spending a few hours surfing we went to the Beachfire on Avenida del Mar for eats. Got there around nine. Very busy. Wide selection of Southern Cali dishes and we got good service. Best of all a knockout collection of paintings by local artists on the walls! It was a bit like attending a gallery opening with a full meal, drinks, crowded bar and music thrown in on top. Good atmosphere. One of the guys insisted on picking up the tab for all of us, so I bought a really great little painting his wife had been eyeing just to even the score. The food was mediocre at best and it was overpriced. Then after realizing my food really blew I witnessed some of their regular patrons using vile language and spitting at ladies walking by in the BLM protest (this was a peaceful protest) was truly apalling. On our way out it appeared these people were welcome. The owners must condone this behavior and I do not recommend helping anyone that would allow this. Lastly, the two men that were displaying this behavior were cowards. The drunken obese man and the skinny hipster with bitch bun hair have some bad karma coming their way. I have tried this place on 3 separate occasions, and I am not totally convinced that the food is just so-so. I tried it dinner, lunch and breakfast (my most recent experience)...and the food is just so-so. I had mac and cheese and it tasted like store bought out of the box while the menu boasted that is was made with 3 cheese and baked etc. I think they hype up their menu and the prices and the food is just edible. Sort of like frozen food that's been heated up. The drinks are strong and the scene can be fun. But don't go for the food. There are way better choices in san clemente. read more

Nice job Beachfire! The family from out of town wanted to go where they have been before (Beachfire) because they had liked it in the past so much. I went under protest as I wanted to go to South of Nick's instead. We waited roughly 25 minutes for our table (no problem, it was busy) and were then treated to great service, good meals, an excellent dessert and an overall great vibe. I have been coming to the beach fire for years but this is the first review I have written. The food is always good the staff is always nice and the decor is really cool The owner of the beach fire worked his way up through the Chart House chains. I feel like over the years though the menu has lost a lot of its Flair. A lot of favorites, mine anyway have disappeared from the menu. Food was burnt, overcooked skirt steak. Review the picks of the food and one will see its just ordinary and sometimes awful. Mix of young and elderly workers (who look miserable). I agree with others nothing stands out as far as taste, but its location makes it a tempting place to try, but I will not return--especially for the price. Go to In-N-Out for better burgers! I keep trying to like this place because it's local. Sat on the patio with my dog. Manager gave me grief after saying it was OK to sit out there with her. This is the 2nd time this has happened. If we're not welcome, say so. But don't seat us and then discriminate. Ruined my meal and seems petty. Very slow for a not a busy night of just 2 tables including ours, but we were fine with it. One guy was working both the bar and serving all the tables. My family member left him a standard tip for standard service (15 percent and he is of the older generation and from a different country with different tipping culture), and doesn't even know the new tipping customs of the younger people of 18 to 20 percent. Ten minutes after we left, when we were going to the game room, the waiter approached our group and made a big embarrassing scene in the lobby, demanding to know what was wrong with his service, asking why the tip wasn't 18 to 20 percent like the receipt indicated, and saying things like "I just want to know." He was very aggressive, very confrontational and highly unprofessional. And he handled the situation loudly, publicly, and unprofessionally and scared our children with his rude, aggressive way of speaking. If management wants to speak to him, he had dark brown hair shaved underneath and longer on top, brown eyes, and had a safety pin styled earring in his ear. He was fine during the dinner and we didn't observe any rude behavior and left happy and impressed with the restaurant but aggressively chasing older guests down in front of family, young kids, and other hotel patrons is beyond inappropriate and should be looked into by management.

We went to Jane on Saturday, January 17th around 8:30-8:45 pm for a nightcap with a group of three. It was crowded, which was fine -- the service was not. The host (a man in his late 20s or early 30s with a buzz cut and mustache) had us put our name in but couldn't give even a rough wait estimate. He then told us there were open seats at the bar. As we walked toward them, he immediately went to his friends sitting nearby, and they jumped up and took the bar seats he had just told us were available. We waited 40 minutes and received a text that our "table for three" was ready -- only to be told when we returned that there was actually standing room only. When we again saw open bar seats, the same friends reappeared and claimed they were "saving them" because they'd gone out to smoke. The host backed them up. This felt less like a cocktail lounge and more like a place where the host plays bouncer for his friends. Prioritizing friends over paying guests, brushing people off, and mismanaging the waitlist is incredibly unprofessional. We left without ever being served. For a place that positions itself as a cocktail lounge, this kind of favoritism is unacceptable and disappointing.

Lately I've been coming on Tuesdays to take advantage of their all-day Happy Hour, which is one of the best in town. Crispy carnitas tacos and the hibiscus margaritas are my go-to's, and the fresh chips and salsa served gratis are always delicious and hot. I wanted to take a moment to shout out their fantastic team of servers and bussers especially. Luna, Lindsay and Cesar have all been exceptional servers; their knowledge of the menu and their genuine kindness makes our visits that much more memorable. I don't often catch the name of the bussers, but they are extremely good at what they do. There's a few restaurants in town that hire staff and don't seem to train them well, so they struggle and it's apparent... but that's not the case here at Asada, where everyone is professional and really go above and beyond. It's easy to see how well their service flows (although the host stand could benefit from having people who are more outgoing; they seem to have timid people up there a lot, and it can be awkward when they're too timid to properly greet guests--just something I've noticed, having worked in restaurants before I tend to be hyper-aware of such things). My favorite section to get seated is the booths near the back which tend to be quieter, and also offer a nice view of the sky during the sunset and evening hours especially.

Not sure what's going on in the kitchen but they need some help. Customer service was excellent though, just the quality and size of the drinks was disappointing. Oh well. Very expensive for what you get and not worth it.
