We had a great time renting a pontoon boat and getting out on the water at beautiful Dillon Lake. With the lower water levels shore access is a little more difficult than usual but the staff at Frisco Bay Marina was very friendly and accommodating for a last minute boat rental. I would highly recommend for any paddle or pontoon boat needs. Their prices are very reasonable and the lake is still gorgeous despite the lower water levels. read more

We had the displeasure of renting a boat from this facility. While staff gives you explicit instructions to return the boat to the marina in case of bad weather, they neglected to tell you that they offer no refunds or prorated fees for shortened time. Conditions on Lake Dillon were unsafe with very large whitecaps and lightning in the area. Staff member Von had the nerve to say we can't offer adjustments or refunds because if we did "we wouldn't make any money". Go to the marina in Dillon. The staff are much friendlier and have your safety in mind. Do not rent from this facility! read more

Great time at Frisco Bay marina! Meg took good care of us and got a us a power boat for two hours. That was definitely worth it! The views you get to see on lake Dillion are absolutely worth every dollar spent. The mountains look amazing. All the trees. The natural scenic nature feel is one of a kind. You are out in the open water. Taking in all the elements. Absorbing the energy. The two hours went by really fast. I could easily see doing a 3 hour boat rental here. Also, the picnic tables, the sand which is part of the lake is also very nice. Families were hanging out with their dogs. It was just overall fun nice to be. I will definitely go back. I can't form too much of an opinion because I didn't rent a boat, but I did think about renting a boat. Does that count? Better yet, I asked the girl on the dock what boat to rent and when. I was looking for a paddle-board or kayak. She was honest and told me best time for that is morning. Otherwise, the wind would be a big factor. Despite not using a boat, the scenery, service, and variety of boats were impressive. The only reason for a 4 is because I'm comparing it to The Dillon Marina, which was a little more chill and not as commercialized. read more

Watch out for predatory ticket practices here and be sure to challenge tickets when you paid to park. In two of my four trips to the marina last month, I received $75 tickets for spaces that were paid for - tickets written while my paid for time was still running. I've heard that the ticketing folks get a piece of the revenues from tickets, which might explain these inappropriate practices. read more

New parking system SUCKS. Marina is awesome but the Town of Frisco hired some very overzealous folks to enforce it. They claim a 30 min free parking period but that's a lie. You have to read the very non obvious fine print that you must "register " to get that. What?! This is absurd! They gave my daughter a 75$ ticket after arriving within 10 min and then LIED to my face about "watching her vehicle for 15 minutes " which couldn't have been true given her very recent arrival. The Marina staff don't seem to like this policy either for complaints should be directly sent to the Town Manager at 970 668-5276 and ask for Diane. I've been coming to Frisco for over 35 years and this is really a huge middle finger to all tourists up here. Again we LOVE the Marina itself and their rentals are amazing and staff helpful and friendly. The parking change is not in line with the quality of the rest of the Marina. Rented single rider kayaks for husband's birthday. So much fun! From reservations (online) to tour around Lake Dillon, everything was seamless. All staff member we encountered was friendly and informative. Price was perfect. Afternoon of kayaking around Lake Dillon was a first for us and will not be the last. I love everything about Frisco Marina! My family comes here often to kayak and the prices are very reasonable, the staff is friendly and they always have plenty options for water toys. I usually book online. Sometimes there is a discount offered if you book more than two weeks in advance. It is super easy to just pick a time and pay online in advance. The marina has a store where you can buy bait, tackle, hats and things you need on the water. They also have a restaurant attached, so you can grab a bite or a beer once you are done playing on the reservoir. There is a lawn area for you to picnic, lay out or attend events as well. This place has it all and is a great place to visit for the weekend if you are from Colorado or visiting from out of state. read more

We really enjoyed our experience renting from this business. We did both kayaking in the morning and canoeing at evening in the same day. All of the workers were incredibly friendly and helpful, made sure we had and knew everything we needed to have a good experience. We arrived early for canoeing and they were accommodating and let us start our session right away; may not be like this every day, it wasn't too busy at that time but still appreciated that! There was also another lady (very rude) who they were dealing with before us and they handled that situation incredibly well. 10/10 on customer service, in my opinion. Only complaint is we originally had scheduled canoeing for the evening before from 5-7pm. Around 4:30 some storms moved into the area, but looked like they would move out by the time we would be on the water. Our session was cancelled due to weather, but we didn't receive notification and drove all the way in to town from where we were staying. My only recommendation would be to find a way to notify customers if there is a cancellation due to weather or something else. That said, the girl who was at the counter that evening was helpful in rebooking us for the next night. All in all, great experience, and definitely will rent from these guys next time we're looking to get out on Lake Dillon. read more

We launched our boat here a few weeks back. The marina was more busy with non boaters and I didn't have to wait long to launch. You do have to pay for parking and if you're boating- make sure that you pay for the XL parking spot. I didn't see the sign because I got something out of the back of my trunk and then apparently paid for a regular spot. I got a parking ticket for $75, which I wasn't happy about since it wasn't clear there was 2 types of parking when I paid. Fortunately the Marina General Manager Shane was extremely nice and seemed to be very in touch with the customer experience, and helped me out since it was an honest mistake. Considering the experience with Shane, I would absolutely come back. He even said they were trying to get the 3rd party parking enforcement to ease up a bit, they aren't trying to drive people off, which otherwise, can absolutely be the case. read more

This is a review for the pontoon boat rental. Have nothing but good things to say about the staff, the instructional video and the PRICE! The boat itself was brand new, enormous and super comfortable. The group of us even brought our two dogs and there were NO issues with space at all. They let you bring snacks and drinks on the boat - just no grills (which I think is perfectly reasonable). 4 hours is definitely enough to explore the whole lake, since you can't swim in it and it was a pretty great way to spend a Saturday afternoon on Labor Day Weekend. Awful costumer service. My husband and I rented two fishing pole today. While we were fishing, about an hour away from the marina, his pole quit working. It would not cast or reel in. We are very experienced fisherman, but since they were rented we did not want to mess around with it. Instead, we drove an hour back to the marina to exchange it. While we were turning in our poles for the day, the man working the front desk informed us that we owed for the previous pole that broke on us. We explained that we did not touch/mess/ or try to fix this ourself. Instead we saw it wasn't working and promptly returned it. He told us that doesn't matter. He even stated that the fishing poles are rentals and not the best quality, therefore when/if it breaks whoever has it at the time owes for it. He was extremely rude. We arrived 20 minutes early like they told us to and luckily we listened because after signing the waiver and watching a quick tutorial video, it rolled around to our reservation time. We went here as a break from the city. Unfortunately, when we arrived, it was raining/hailing. We were on a mission though, so we waited 1.5 hours (due to in-climate weather) to be able to get a kayak. Our reservation was from 4-6. As we were headed back, a HAILSTORM happened, so we were 17 minutes late. I apologized, but the idiot at the desk demanded a $40 late fee which I was never informed of. I declined, so he asked if I wanted him to call the police (He had my car keys.). So I said yes. He ended up not charging me. But then the sweetest employee, Morgan, redeemed the whole experience. She's so caring, we will come back despite the stupid asshole at the desk. read more

Came here with my boat from the lowlands to do some fishing. My motor wouldn't start due to something with the low oxygen levels and my carburetor. The marina mechanic came out and took a look at it for free for over an hour to see if we could get it running. We never got it running but I appreciated him taking the time to look at it. read more

Wow... very surprised to get scolded by an incredibly rude woman claiming herself as 'the boss'. My family and I simply wanted to enjoy a short time on one of the picnic tables on the dock and stick our toes in the water. We were unaware that this and swimming were not allowed. We had tried to rent sup boards or a boat earlier, but were quickly turned away, as they were all reserved. We were abruptly stopped before reaching the lake by a woman and treated like some sort of miscreants. She was threatening us with fines and basically telling us that we were not welcome. We were not confrontational, loud, or rude, so I'm not sure why we received such treatment. We left the Frisco Marina and went straight to the Dillon Marina where we had the best afternoon! Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. We even got to use sup boards for free, as one of the local rental companies were doing 30 minute demos. Don't bother with the high brow snobs at the Frisco Marina and head straight to Dillon Marina! read more

We called and made reservations for a tandem kayak, a single kayak and one stand up paddleboard rental for a girls weekend. We went through various renditions of what activity we would do and called and updated the reservations office each time, with no problems. The staff was very accommodating each time. When we arrived the morning of, we walked into the office and we took care of payment at that time, individually. Then we walked back to the equipment station and they handed up the applicable equipment. I will say that the young guy who gave us our equipment didn't give us any instructions, such as where to go to get your actual kayak or stand up paddleboard, just gave us oars/paddles and personal flotation devices. I felt the communication could have been better. The price to rent a kayak for two hours was pretty inexpensive, imo, but I'd never done it before, so I really have no clue. I went out with 2 other friends to kayak and they were both experienced, so they gave me some tips and we headed out. It was so beautiful and I absolutely enjoyed it. I would love to do it again. Now for some needed improvement: They have antiquated (slow) reservation system which requires an "inventory refresh" every time any if the 3 registers rented something, which means I had to wait for the other 2 lines to finish reserving their equipment. It was a Monday, and they were all out of single kayaks and paddle boards? They should have more on hand--I'd hate to see the weekend. Now that we rented some double kayaks, the life jacket guy said that we could absolutely not go solo in a double kayak. This turned out to be false, and caused a bunch of frustration. It was a beautiful lake and everyone was nice, however, a storm rolled in 15 minutes into our canoe ride. No one told us what to do ahead of time if it started storming. The only advice we got was "it might get windy if a storm hits" as we were pushed out onto the lake in our canoe. Sure enough, a surprise storm hit and we were helpless against the wind and waves. We eventually had to give up paddling and let the wind take us into the part of the lake they told us not to go because it's where the speed boats go. Eventually, we hit the opposite shore and huddled behind a pathetic Charlie Brown Christmas tree to try to get shelter from the very strong rain that was pouring down. We were also freezing. We tried calling their phone number, (which was written all over the canoe) at least 10 times but got no answer. We were left not knowing what to do or how to get back. Eventually, the storm subsided and a boat came by and asked if we needed help. We got back in the canoe and tried to enjoy the last 20 minutes of our reservation. Everyone was very nice, but this sucked. At the very least, someone should have answered the phone to tell us what to do. We could see stranded boats from the Marina dotting the shores around the lake. read more

The experience of trying to fish here was weird. The process of registering for a fishing license and renting the kit was very pleasant and all the younger staff in there were quite friendly and informative. When we started having issues with the equipment (line snapped on first cast on one rod, and another rod was having a difficult time casting). That's where it went down hill. I initially wanted to swap out the rod with the snapped line to go back out and fish again. But Jennifer immediately started speaking in a very accusatory manner about how these rods have been rented out all week and no one has had an issue. That was a pretty drastic change in tone that left a bad taste in my mouth. The lost tackle was then charged 25 cents for each lost piece. It was $1.25 for all of it so it wasn't worth arguing about it with Jennifer. But the idea that only negligence can lead to lost tackle is absurd, they use split shot weights in some of the kits and there is quite noticeable wear on the lines from normal usage. Ultimately, we ended up returning an hour early and asked for a refund. They refunded two of our rods minus the penalty for the "broken" gear. I can see how this could be a fun experience, but if you need any sort of customer service it becomes a nightmare. Prepare to be accused and made very uncomfortable in a supposedly relaxing and scenic location. Frisco is tremendous and the people are very kind. But perhaps just skip the Marina and check out the one in Dillon. (This was so bizarre and unpleasant I had to create a yelp account for it) read more

Review for Kayak rental DON'T RENT HERE! Customer service really poor. Added one to our party size on the day of our rental and was told there wasn't ANYTHING we could rent for 2 hours so we could all hang out together. I sat in the pier as kayaks and canoes sat idle FOR THE ENTIRE TWO HOURS. Not to mention all the ones sitting in the grass near the life-jacket pickup. Young 'helpers' at the pier attempted to help, but every time that called 'management' they got a NO (while trying to get us into something on the water - even the weird standing-pedal-board thing). Will NOT be renting here again and will be sure to tell everyone else the same. Look elsewhere! read more

I would give zero stars if I could. We had a terrible experience with our small pontoon rental via Frisco Bay Marina. They gave us a faulty boat that wouldn't accelerate correctly from leaving the dock, and the trim wouldn't remain raised, all which the worker admitted to before we left. So, the propellers fell off just 35 min into our ride. We never neared the shore, never got near buoys, never hit anything in the water, and a woman worker tried to tell us it's not possible for the propellers to fall off without hitting something. You can google that is not true. Our pontoon needed major maintenance, and they tried to get us to pay for it. The worst part was when we were stuck in the lake, we called the number on the boat that THEY TELL YOU TO CALL IN AN EMERGENCY, AND THEY NEVER ANSWERED OR RETURNED OUR MESSAGES. We were stranded for 45 minutes and had to call the sheriff to come tow us back to shore. Also worth noting- we had a baby and small child on board with us. That sheriff witnessed that we weren't close to shore and didn't hit anything. We were immediately greeted as though we were at fault, NO apology for not answering our calls, NO acknowledgement that the sheriff said we did nothing wrong, just telling us we had to pay for damages. It was absolutely the worst service, treatment, and boat rental experience. read more
