A couple years ago I bought a vacuum and it was under $100 and very good. Now the lower end vacuums appear to be garbage, very cheaply made and they are selling them at prices that don't reflect the quality. It looks like they all the cheaper model are plastic and look like crap. Who designed these things? It looks like a lot of stores are selling inferior stuff. Target is the same. Customer service I had recently was mediocre at best...guy talking fast and not really interested in me probably because I wanted something affordable. After looking at the cheaper vacuums, I decided to go else's to Auburn, Rocklin or Sac. read more

I am sorry to write a bad review for this company, which we have used and known for years. My husband and I puchased an LG 48-inch TV from Beam on June 21, 2024. $1650. Out the door I go and we have our local cable service tech install it. Once installed, the tv will not turn off. We use the remote, turn it off, and 5 minutes later the tv comes back on. We have Beam tech come out, $140, and he isn't able to fix the problem. Now I have to go to LG and have them repair it. This tv is used in the bedroom for my ill husband so I plug it in and then unplug it in the middle of the night. Trying to get LG to come repair has been a nightmare. I went to Beam owner, asking them for a refund, and to have them honor the product they sell. No, they don't refund and once out the door I have to deal with LG. I am sorry I've learned a $1650 mistake by not asking, but I trusted Beam. It is now August 2, 2024 and STILL can't get LG to come fix TV. I keep Beam informed all along of no progress and they just say they are sorry. Owner did send back my $140 check saying he was sorry and thanks for my business. I went to Target last week, spent $380 on a Samsung tv. The clerk said she'd help me take the tv to the car and any problems bring it back in 30 days! Replaced the LG with new tv as we had to alleviate the stress with this and have a working tv. The LG is in its box awaiting a repair tech. We shop local and am so sorry Beam fell short on all accounts. I walked in, gave them $1650 and I walked out with nothing. Seven weeks later, I have no working LG tv and no assistance from Beam or LG. Something is terribly wrong with this customer service. read more

Beam installed a 40 foot retractible hose for my existing vacuum system in 2021. It reaches every corner of my hose except for the back bedrooms and is easy to use. I vacuum most days bc I actually enjoy it! The installation was quick; customer service was excellent; reasonably priced. This is one of the best things I added in my remodel. I highly recommend the retractable hose if you already have a vacuum system. read more

I bought a big screen TV and arranged to have it installed through Beam - a price was quoted of about $125 per hour. I was also told that the installer would have "EVERYTHING" needed to accomplish the installation. Well ..... Two installers arrived so that's about $250 per hour. They DID NOT have everything they needed. Although they mounted a bracket on the wall to hold the tv and connected the fiber optic cable, they were unable to install a plug behind the TV, out of sight, because they didn't bring a conduit. One would think that's pretty basic. Anyhow it took hours to accomplish all this and it actually cost more than the TV - $800 +. And the electrical cables are hanging down and look pretty bad. Now, I have to hire an electrician to finish the job of installing a a plug so the wires don't show. Not so good. read more

I just saw the owner's response. It is a lie. He did not refund the entire purchase price. Instead, he insisted on refunding a portion of the purchase price and then giving us a "discount" on the replacement unit. In the end, we still paid slightly more than I was originally quoted over the phone, but not enough to continue to waste our time and frustration. I neglected to add that the owner was exceptionally rude to me, personally. My husband went in to the store to make the purchase and then called me due to the large price discrepancy between what was quoted to me and what they were trying to charge him. He put me on speaker so I could speak directly to the owner at the store. The owner continually interrupted me, and spoke over me, show absolutely zero respect to his customers. My husband and I were both appalled. read more

I have used this company for almost 15 years and this last incident I am sadly disappointed and going elsewhere I had called a week ago made an appointment to have them come out and check my unit as it was no longer working they mentioned to me that if it was a motor that they did not have one in stock but could be expecting them soon when the technician came out and he was good but he let me know after testing several things that it was the motor when it was questioned to how long it was to get the motor they said a month or two... I asked why they did not let me know that at the beginning when they made that appointment when I questioned them and they had no answer they also said I was going to have to get charged another service call for them to return out with the new unit when I questioned that the co-owner or daughter said there's nothing I can do about it you're going to have to get charged again I called and questioned why they hadn't told me that it was a 2-month wait for a motor if that was the problem and they said they don't know but they still were going to charge me to come back out the next day with a new unit very disappointed with this company decision I have gone elsewhere read more

We have been loyal customers for 30 years. We bought a new beater and hose for 600.00 to years ago. It has been a lemon ever since They neglected to tell us that it was a floor model. Now the light is out and the neck has issues. We now are told they discontinued this model and they don't make parts for it anymore. So less than two years, 600.00 down the drain. The clerk said sorry , that's just how it is. They do jot stand by their product and treat their loyal customers like shit!!!!! So disappointed in their customer service. read more

There is definitely something to be said for a locally owned family business. Ive had my residential alarm service with Beam since 2007. The system is now 15 years old. There are the occasional blips and Beam has always been very responsive. Recently my alarm went off on two different occasions for no reason. I spoke with Serena who listened to my concerns and assured me that she would have a technician to my house as soon as possible. In less than an hour she called back and offered me one of their senior technicians (Ryan) who could be to my house in a couple of hours. He arrived timely, was polite and professional. He was very thorough in testing the different systems and discussing possible problems and solutions. In addition to fixing the problem he shared new technology and operational features. Danielle, Serena, and Ryan are reasons I am a loyal Beam customer. read more

My central vac had stopped working. Andrew and Jesus came out to fix it. They were absolutely wonderful. Extremely courteous and efficient and even fixed the stocking that goes around the hose for me so it doesn't keep sliding down. I had purchased new power head from them in August of 2020. I have been working with Beam since 2010. For me, they have been fantastic. Every thing I needed to buy, service or replace has been handled with transparency. They have been kind and easy to work with. I moved to another state and no problem, they are happy to cross the border and work on my new system. Of course, there is a fee, but this is fair an reasonable. I like this company. Good bunch of guys. I am guessing that if you are mean and hostile, they may be reluctant to help as any one would be. Worst security company ever. Very poor customer service. Very old and outdated equipment. Other security companies have really transformed their equipment and software properties. Be careful to avoid exorbitant bills for their services. We had Beam relocate a whole-house vacuum inlet about 6 ft from its original location. There was easy stand-up under-house access to the piping and the drywall was open on one side of the wall making it easy to bore a hole. I had already cut off and removed the old inlet. What should have been a quick and easy job for one person to install the new inlet turned into 1.5hr for 2 people and a $500 labor bill ($125/person for the 1st 1/2 hour and $125/person/hour after). They claim they can't give exact estimates in advance, which I can understand. But if I had had any idea that the cost would be that high, I would not have hired them. When I called them after requesting a copy of the invoice (they didn't leave one), I was told, repeatedly, that I had been informed of their rates and authorized the work. Bottom-line though - this should not have been a $500 job! To top it off, they didn't install the inlet flush with the drywall (see attached photo), so I am going to have to pay extra to our drywall contractor to have this repaired when they come for other work. read more

Horrible customer sevice!!! I purchased a high end t.v. from them,, a samsung. It didnt work, right out of the box, so they went back to the store, and got another one. It worked for just barely 2 months. I told them, o.k., 2 t.v.s in 2 months, that don't work, i want a new t.v., or a refund . I was told by the owner, they can't give new t.v.s, or refunds,,, it has to come from samsung.The beam center sent me to a repair shop here, in town, and THEY told me they no longer work on samsung t.v.s . so, after several days, and several hours on the phone with samsung, they were able to find a technitian in sacramento. The guy tore the tv apart, rebuilt it with different parts, and finally had to give up, and get a "new " tv out of his truck. he put all the old parts in it, didn't work, so he put all new parts in it, and finaly got it to work. A half hour after he left, it quit working ! so now, i have THREE t.vs from the beam easy living center, and the owner STILL says he can't honor the waranty !!!!!! Now it's been over 2 months, i'm out 800 dollars, and the beam center REFUSES to honor the waranty !! Perhaps you can imagine my frustration, and anger at this situation,,,, i have been talking to the owner, almost daily,, trying to get a refund, and he STILL REFUSES!!!! Today, i took the broken piece of garbage to his store, put it on his front porch, and told he where he could stick his waranty , that he won't honor. He called me this afternoon, and said they got it working, i should come get it. I told him where he could shove his piece of garbage t.v.,, tomorrow, i'll go best buy , in Auburn, and buy a t.v. from them, i know they will honor their waranty, if something goes wrong !!!! A word of warning , if you are thinking of buying a t.v. from the beam easy living center,,, DO NOT BUY A SAMSUNG !!!!!!!! If something goes wrong, as it did in my case,, THREE times,,,,,, they WILL REFUSE TO HONOR THE WARANTY !!!!!! read more

I had an alarm system installed by BEAM and have had nothing but trouble with it. Lots and lots of false alarms and service calls with no resolution. I finally got so fed up with them I had another security company come out and inspect my system to see if they could get it working right. They found that several of the windows that were sloppily wired and had intermittent contact, two doors were not wired at all and that all three of my motion detectors were on one circuit so they could never tell where the alarm was coming from. Poor installation, poor service and they don't stand behind their work - do not use them for a security system! read more

I had them set up my home theater. I bought a single remote from them to control everything and they programmed it for me. So nice to have ONE remote to deal with!! They also service the alarm system in my office building and are especially responsive to the occaissional hickup. I got an alarm system installed and monitor service by BEAM. Just as other viewer said, several of the windows that were sloppily wired and they had to replace one window with wireless sensor because of that. My house got broke in and the burglar stole a lot of stuffs, and their monitor system did not detect it. When I called them, at first, they said because I had changed the phone number which has been the same phone number for 3 years. After they found out that was not truth, then they said I had activated STAY alarm instead of AWAY when I was away, therefore the motion detector was disabled. Again, on their alarm logs, it showed that I did activate AWAY when I was away. Now, they blamed on my son broke in the house and stole the stuffs. Now I am wondering that they have people from their company broke in my house and stole my stuffs. Stay away from this company. Yes, they got a very low monthly monitoring service, $20/month, but you pay for what you get. No wondering most the houses in my neighborhood got ADT, Protection One, and etc. I should have known. I would not give any star on this one. read more

Although personnel are pleasant, whenever I have contacted them they are slow to answer and have generally, mildly apologized for the wait explaining that they had several calls. If, in fact, I was calling due to a burglarly or other emergency their service would be completely unacceptable. Sure, they're local but they're not great. If we had not purchased a home that already had a Beam Security System installed we certainly would not have used them. read more

I just wanted to express my appreciation to BEAM and their employee Tony. We inherited a Beam central vacuum cleaner when we bought our house and it has been relatively problem free for the past 18 years. Recently the vacuum stopped working so I took it in to a local vacuum repair shop in Folsom. The owner told me that my hose had a short in it that could not be repaired and that the upright was 18 years old and should also be replaced all for the price of $599. Since this business was not an actual Beam service center, I decided to call this Grass Valley business to get their opinion. I spoke to Tony on the phone and he explained that while it's possible I needed a new unit, it was also possible that the issue could be something repairable for a lot less money. I decided to make the 45 minute trip to Grass Valley and I'm so glad I did. Tony was able to diagnose the problem (bad circuit board) and repair my vacuum while I waited AND it only cost me $35!! I appreciate the honesty and integrity of this business and especially their employee Tony. You can bet if I ever need future vacuum cleaner repairs I will be taking it here! read more
