2/11/18 Coffee is decent but the girls that work there are so rude that it makes going to get coffee a miserable experience. We went to get coffee and there was nothing one behind us she rudely and abruptly rushed us through with a bad attitude. No hello Hi may I help you just stared us down. The girl who made the coffee threw it forward just enough to slosh the coffee and make you think it would spill without actually spilling it. 15 min later the coffee was still piping hot and burnt my tongue. Thanks goodness I didn't drink take a sip right away. Overall I can't support business that employ rude people there are just too many coffee shops in the neighborhood. read more

I come here often admittedly because I live close, but Bean & Bean is great. It's fast, the coffee is delicious, the overnight oats are soooo delicious (although pricey at $5 for a small cup), and space is very spacious/good for working. There's plenty of seating room, free wifi, and plenty of outlets - much better than your average New York coffee shop. It is truly the perfect place to be productive. read more

Incredibly rude barista who made my drink- made the experience unpleasant and not want to sit down with my drink. I left immediately after I received my order. Not sure if she was having a bad day, but there's no need to condescending to a customer-- such as her eye rolling when a question was asked, etc. read more

Cool, urban/industrial vibe with good coffee. Definitely a nice place to relax and get some work done or grab a quick coffee to go.

The baristas at Bean & Bean make a delicious chai latte, so I tip my cap to them. It was delicious and tasty, something that is often overlooked at coffeehouses. The chai ran about $4 - $5, which is about the standard rate but I didn't bat an eye since it was made really well. The interior was really cool. Bean & Bean pulls off something I seldom see, it was edgy and industrial, yet also somehow warm and inviting. A very tough combination to pull off. I can't speak for the coffee, but it seemed pack and it gets good reviews so it seems to be good across the board. Overall I recommend this place, but Bean & Bean, I have one question: Why the Norah Jones? read more

This is my go-to coffee spot in Chelsea. I work a few blocks away and feel very fortunate to have such great coffee nearby. If I could give half stars, I'd give 3.5. I ordered an iced matcha and to put it simply it was not 'matcha-ey' enough for my taste. I think the cashier said they use organic matcha so that may be why but I like it to be a bit sweeter than it comes. When I asked for a pump of vanilla to give it that little bit of sweetness that I like, the barista/cashier acted like this was such a weird and high maintenance request. The atmosphere is cool - very industrial, open, and doesn't feel crammed at all. Would go back but wouldn't go out of my way to do so. read more

Staff here are so energetic and nice. The area is bright. Love the use of natural light. It's a nice place to chat with friends or do some work. Probably not the best coffee served in town but it's a nice place to stay for a period of time. read more

Went in here cause I needed to use the restroom. Once I got in a I was pleasantly surprised. The place is huge, with so many options to sit. The coffee and food options are pricey, but most coffee shops are pricey nowadays. They don't however have many vegan or gluten free options. But have a lot other healthy options. read more

I would go to another coffee shop. First of all - the music is consistently terrible. They play everything EXCEPT cafe music - it's all obscure rock, mumble rap, or Spanish pop. When I go to a cafe, I'm there to do work or simply relax. The music promotes exactly the opposite. Also, there's really no comfortable seating. There's plenty of spaces to sit but they're all hard wooden stools placed under tables so low that you hurt your back after sitting at them for a while. That being said, the drinks are pretty good. But just pretty good, nothing standout for NY. read more

First visit. I order an iced coffee and the worker says, "We have cold brew. Do you need me to explain what that is?" Um, no. My friend orders "hot coffee, dark roast." Worker says, "This isn't Starbucks" and something about the coffee being organic. What? Friend says she just wants hot coffee, the darker roast the better. He says he can give her a blend of dark roast and light roast. So they do have dark roast or they don't? Anyway,the coffee was kind of pricey, especially for the taste, which was mediocre. There are A LOT of other coffee shops in the area now with much better service and a much wider selection. read more

I found this place using my CUPS app. Clean and cozy with a friendly barista. High ceilings were really cool. I had the caramel brulee latte, which was clean and flavorful and smooth. And not too sweet. I also ordered a blueberry muffin, which was fresh and flavorful. I'll definitely come back to this place. I think they also have a location downtown in FiDi. read more

The staff was incredibly friendly; however, I had much higher expectations for single origin coffee: my wife ordered the Tanzanian, and I got the Jamaican blue mountain (both pour overs). We both agree that we've had better single origins at Starbucks for a similar price point. The pastries look delicious, and the decor was modern, but I wouldn't go out of my way for mediocre coffee and limited seating. read more

Was not impressed with Internet (slow), lots of people which I usually like, but there were many just parked computers taking space - maybe they were out to lunch. Didn't help that the heater was on full blast. The coffee was ok, nothing to report and the $2 oatmeal raisin cookie was sub par. They have such a large space and could make it into something, but I won't be stopping by a lot. read more

Lots of space / seating with large group tables. Probably a great and relatively quiet (relatively bc they do play music) place to meet up especially on weekend mornings (here at 9am Saturday and there are scattered individuals reading/working on laptops). Coffee and matcha lattes are decent, though I also drink a wide range of quality ha so may not be the most discerning of drinkers. Incompetence appears to be the goal of this place. Not a single staffers knows what they're doing and the customer service is atrocious.

Came here to study with a few friends. The ambience is great. They have a few large wooden tables and some smaller round metal tables to work at. There are outlets on the sides of the cafe too! The music and people talking can be a little loud, but if you're good at tuning out background noise, you're solid. Staff is friendly which is a huge plus, and they don't rush you out so you can plant yourself with a cup of coffee for a few hours! read more

Came here to do some casual reading/studying. Was surprised at the ample study space, lots of long tables if you don't mind sitting next to a stranger. I came here on a Friday night to relax and write. Boy was I in for a pleasant evening! Firstly, the comfy chairs at the long table to the opposite end of the entrance were available. Score! Secondly, I ordered a chai latte and OMG; I had a mouthgasm! The drink has a nice blend of sweetness, spice/herbal texture, and smoothness overall. I fell in love at the first sip. Thirdly, the ladies' bathroom was kept clean. There is also the genius idea of placing a full length mirror outside the restrooms for those who need to fix their hair, tuck in their shirt, or take a quick peak at their face and realize they are in need of sleep. Finally, all the while I sat on the comfy chairs at the long wooden table writing and sipping on the chai latte, Bean & Bean played some of my favorite songs from female artists. I jammed along to Adele, Amy Winehouse, Duffy, and more. Yeah, I almost wanted to get up and dance! My Friday evening there was well spent and I left in high spirits. Thank you, Bean & Bean! Overall, Bean & Bean is a clean and spacious area for those who wish to work/study, catch up with friends, or hang out. The drink menu is listed near the cash registers. Coffee is averaged around $3 while other drinks like lattes and frappes are around $5 and above. There are food items such as oatmeal and baked goods available. This is the perfect coffee shop to get work done at in Manhattan. Free wifi, plenty of seating, relatively quiet, and tasty coffee. The black coffee is solid, but the real treat is the honey Latté (iced honey Latté during the summer)! Large coffee shop that has plenty of seating. Great atmosphere for studying, getting some work done, or just relaxing. There are a handful of long tables and a few standing ones. I usually get a latte or coffee on the go. I've tried their avocado toast, which was quite delicious: a generous amount of avocado smeared on toast and topped with olive oil and spices. The prices are comparable to other nice coffee shops in Chelsea. The service was fine, and they usually don't take too long to get drinks out. read more

I saw the store's several signs, on their storefront and inside the store, advertising Blue Mountain Coffee, so went in to get some, as it is my favorite. The barista said they no longer carried Blue Mountain Coffee, and that it was illegal to import it. I asked why, and the barista proceeded to explain that not being able to import it means that the store can't get any of this coffee anymore. I clarified that I understood the concept of illegal imports, but had asked WHY the prohibition. This aggravated her, and she further explained that Blue Mountain Coffee is from Jamaica and is very expensive. I insisted that this still didn't answer the question of WHY, and the barista huffed that she told me all she knew, and turned away. Why was the concept of WHY so difficult for her? "I don't know" would have been a perfectly fine response. Why the confusion/belligerence? read more
