Wandered in here as we were staying at the nearby Air Village. We were in search of a cozy place to enjoy coffee and light meal. It's a little unassuming in a good way. It's super cute and whimsical inside with lots of books. It feels like you're in a European cottage. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and seated. After that, the service was really unimpressive. Our waitress did not have the same vibe as when we first walked in and it made our experience lackluster. She was not very attentive and we had to ask another waitress for help and then eventually ask our waitress for coffee refills. We were there when it opened, so it was before it got busy. I wanted to love this place, as the food and coffee ordered was tastefully presented and good. Their espresso machine was not fully functioning this morning, so my hubby couldn't get his vanilla latte, but he improvised. With some staff training in hospitality and pep talks of keeping the "cozy vibe" entire experience from start to finish, this adorable little restaurant could definitely be a solid 5 stars! They even deliver your bill in a book! I would probably return to give it another go, as the ambiance and food are wonderful. I'm giving the 3 stars for ambience. We met friends there (we had a 5 pm reservation for our party of 6) We were seated promptly. Unfortunately the table was near the front door so my husband and I got the full very cold draft as people came and went. (A screen might help). I had the mushroom soup which was decent...lacked seasoning. I then had the steak frites. The steak was cooked well but not seasoned at all. The frites were almost steak cut fries with a heavy seasoning on them. I was expecting thinner fries as it typically served with steak frites and would not have had them had I known (I'm picky about my fries). The spinach side was also under seasoned. Unfortunately it was the same with my husband's chicken pot pie. He said he didn't enjoy it was it was so bland it was almost tasteless. I want to come back to try their English Breakfast (I'm a Brit). Maybe that's their ace in the hole?! At 7pm after it took some time to get drinks and food we were hurried along as they had another party to seat. Some of us were still enjoying the last of our drinks. Didn't appreciate the press to leave. On paper a great looking place and menu. The ambience is on point for sure!! We will give it another go. read more

We've heard about this place from various social media, and it lives up to the hype! We initially were going to come for dinner, but reservations were full, and after looking at the dinner menu realized that lunch is what we were really after anyways. The famous sandwiches are NOT offered at dinnertime, and the dinner menu is quite limited and expensive. Definitely check the menus online. My girlfriend and I got a Fire Drake and a Goldilocks and split both. Fire Drake is completely savory and Goldilocks had a little sweet to it, so it was kind of an ideal "meal"/"dessert" situation. Both were excellent. I would say the sandwiches aren't tiny but definitely aren't large. The prices aren't bad given how unique the sandwiches are, and clearly high quality ingredients, but I was still a little hungry. I had a Caesar Salad after, which was tasty. The specialty coffee flavors are unique - my girlfriend enjoyed hers. I was happy with iced tea. The decor is fun and tons of books everywhere! I didn't get clarity on if they were just decor or if you could sit and read - both we and the cafe were a little pressed for time (the kitchen closed right after I ordered my salad and we had other things to do). They use books for presenting the bill and having you sign... I'm not sure how I feel about that, those poor books are definitely going to wind up getting destroyed. But it isn't any limited print stuff or anything at least. We'll definitely come back and try other sandwiches! read more

Visiting in the Prescott area and had to try this place I had seen on IG. From the waiting area to walking out after eating, everything was pure bliss! The staff, the decor and of course the food. Being a bookworm it was welcoming with the shelves packed full of books . We had breakfast today and our friends had been there for lunch. The French eggs and potatoes were amazing as well as the special touches of freshly grated cheeses and sautéed onions. The scones arrive with 3 spreads and lovely dishes and little spoons. Small but homey and cozy. The inside walls are lined with bookshelves and portraits of famous authors so you almost feel like you're eating in an English Inn. They also offer patio seating. A big disappointment. I keep wanting to find an amazing restaurant in Prescott and thought this might be it. It is super cute inside but small. The atmosphere was top notch. The rest - not so much. I saw pics and reviews of the Shire salad. Why I got did not come. Lose to the pics here before or descriptions. I forgot to snap a pic. I was so disgusted with the salad and did not eat much of it at all. Tiny pieces of avocado and tomatoes but the worst part was that it was so heavily dressed you couldn't even determine what was in the bowl. And the dressing was odd tasting and again so much of it. I also ordered an Americano that tasted like it came from a pot of brewed coffee that had been sitting all day. I make Americanos at home with an espresso machine and this was nothing even close Terrible for $5. So I spent close to $20 for a coffee and a salad that I really didn't partake in. My companions had cold sandwiches that looked ok but I was surprised they only come with store bought potato chips. A small side salad or fruit would be a nice option. Service was good but we were asked to leave as they were busy and wanted the table. A bit rude but I get it. It was a busy lunch hour. Even though our reservation was missing, the owner did find us a seat at the bar. Because of the problem she graciously apologized and bought our first drinks. We had been here before for lunch but their dinners, yum!! A smallish varied menu with all meals looking delicious as they went by us!! Our plates were plentiful and perfectly cooked. Shrimp and halibut were not overdone!!! Our wait staff, Amanda, was great, despite having her hands full with the bar and us. What an amazing place! As soon as you walk in, it captures you with its intricate details and charm. The service is amazing! Despite everyone being busy, they are all very kind and attentive. The French omelette and the Tolkien Breakfast...both so delicious!! The Pecan Pie Latte was smooth and creamy...tasted like fall on a summer day. The Mordor Maple was also really good. Won't Do To-Go Coffee After hearing glowing reviews, stopped by to grab a coffee and was SO excited. Despite seeing various pictures of to-go cups of coffee on yelp, the hostess refused to allow us to order coffee to-go. We then asked if we could wait for a table to order a coffee and were told no, we'd only be sat if we ordered food. The person in front of us was quoted at a 15 minute wait, so they were not slammed at the moment. What could have been a quick 5-10 minutes of business between establishment and customer turned into a refusal and a sour taste in our mouth. Was so disappointed in this interaction. read more

This is a place like you've never seen in Arizona! Decorated as an English cottage, with bookshelves everywhere, dishes named after authors, and recipes you cannot find outside of the UK! What a lovely place! Although I only stopped in to grab a tasty espresso beverage, the place was packed, it smelled amazing, I was immediately greeted at the door, and the lady who made my "blonde Sasquatch" drink was the sweetest. The drink hit the spot on a cold winter afternoon. The latte was creamy, rich, with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. The espresso had a beautiful richness, with no bitterness whatsoever. Made a reservation for dinner, anticipated the visit by viewing the menu ahead of time. The seating was very tight & it felt like our date night was a party of eight. Waitress was super friendly and attentive. Was all set to order the filet and frites...only to find out the cut of meat had changed. Ordered it and it was by far the most fatty cut of meat I've ever been served ( very low quality) and my frites (French fries ) were over cooked and the vegetable was bland cooked spinach with whole cloves of garlic. My waitress noticed I had not eaten my meal & asked why (I did not complain). She said, no worries I have you covered. Then came back and said desert was on the house. Considering the price of the dinner a better option would have been to not charge us for the meal I didn't eat, but thankfully she noticed it in the first place and did her best to make it better. The desert was the best part of the night and my dinner . We will not be returning for dinner & hesitate trying breakfast or lunch for fear of a disappointing experience. read more

Visiting Prescott and our friends brought us here and man we loved it! To be fair they just recently opened their dinner service so they're still working out the kinks - so don't be in a rush when dining here. But, the food, service, and atmosphere more then made up for the "kinks". The service was amazing Dillon stepped us through our choices and made recommendations we loved. They have a list of beer, wine and a variety of cocktails: we loved the Paul Revere, The Old Glory and War and Peace cocktails. For starters our friends loved the Caesar Salad and my husband and I loved the Mushroom Risotto. It took a long time to get our main courses but it was so worth the wait! Our absolute favorite was the Halibut, I normally only eat salmon or tuna, but everyone's opinion was this Halibut with its amazing sauce was absolutely phenomenal!! We also had the Filet Mignon which was very nicely prepared, and the prime rib - both were nice pieces of meat and very good but we all fought for the last morsel of halibut. Lastly we wrapped up the night with the delicious Fry Bread and chocolate pot de Creme. Such a quaint cottage library atmosphere with amazing people and amazing food! read more

This is one of my favorite local restaurants. I can't get enough of their avocado toasts, and I was never a fan before trying theirs. The service is amazing - super helpful when there are food allergies to work around. And the ambiance is so cozy. Bear & Dragon has disappointed us on 3 separate occasions now. On our first attempt at breakfast, we arrived and were told they didn't have a cook so we couldn't order any food. Second attempt was as a single diner for breakfast, in which my husband was told they don't take single diners and was turned away. Last attempt was for dinner where we sat on the patio. We ordered our food and waited 40 minutes for it. Meanwhile, our drinks were empty, the server hadn't checked on us in over 30 mins nor gave us an explanation as to what was taking so long, and a table that got seated next to us well after we even ordered got their food within 10 mins of ordering. We think the server forgot about us and never put our food order in. We had such high hopes for this place, but we don't plan to return. read more

This place was so crowded the day we went! They don't take reservations for the lunch service, dinner only. Once we were seated, we took note of our surroundings. This little restaurant is decorated with old books and old pictures. My husband ordered a sandwich while I opted for the mushroom bisque. He said his sandwich was very good. Unfortunately, my bisque was so salty I couldn't eat much of it. We informed the waitress, and once the owner took a taste, he agreed. They comped the soup.
