Wonderful, except a few things could be improved. Quite a tight squeeze, too tight! No one on this planet wants to be seated in the doorway/walkway. Honestly, just do away with that table! Everyone in town knows which table I speak of -- or just seat that one lone traveler there. And if you want to have a salad with your entree, then you'll have to order it extra; only one size offered for $12-14. A few of the entrees are only meat and double starch. A small venue (reservations for dinner are strongly suggested) with offerings from Southwest Grits (my choice) to Chicken Pot Pie as well as steaks and seafood. Their food is always good!! They seat you quickly even when they are busy and have an awesome menu. The restaurant vibe reminds me of an old time cottage and I love it so much!!! Their coffee used to taste better when they opened I'm not sure if they took their time or what, but they use Kirkland oat milk and I feel like that brand gives coffee a bad taste. Bear & Dragon is such a sweet, literary-themed restaurant. I got Tolkien's breakfast at the suggestion of my server, to drink Jane Austen (and a secret garden to go after). Food was perfectly executed and seasoned at a very decent price point. The decor is beautiful and whimsical, with wonderful respect for detail -- down to the tableware and server's aprons. Service was attentive, unpretentious, and thoughtful. Toddlers, ranchers and fancy folk were welcomed alike and the owners seemed to stop at each table to check in on experiences. It was busy, but somehow calm, and the design absorbed noise levels well. Outdoor seating is warm with heat lamps and umbrellas, which were moved by staff as needed to block or allow sunlight. This is a beautiful little restaurant with a literary theme. We sat at the bar and watched Bertie prepare extraordinary beverages. The blonde Sasquatch was delightful. I had the French omelette, which was perfectly prepared and I know how hard that is to roll. Bacon and gallete potatoes were perfect accompaniments, plating was beautiful. My husband had what he thought was maybe a boring choice of Steinbeck, basic eggs, bacon, grilled toast and gallete potatoes. Nothing is basic when ingredients are top notch and perfectly cooked. From our vantage point we could see the kitchen working, staff interacting with each other, and lots of smiles. For a busy Saturday morning, they were relaxed, competent, professional and obviously well trained. The whole experience was a joy. When in Scottsdale, this is a must do. Went to this place yesterday which was a Saturday at noon. The parking is next to the restaurant but shared with other establishments in the area. Lots of parking on the street so the small lot is not a concern. We have never been there before and was surprised at how cute the place looked. Very cozy seating but still comfortable and the wait was about 20 mins. Not a problem since we could observe the establishment and review the menu. Once seated we ordered our food, Smaug and Framers Midday. Both are sandwiches and both were delicious. Service was a little slow but they were packed and people were waiting to be seated so I won't hold that against them. We were pretty sure the kitchen got slammed. It was no big deal and not a deal breaker. We would definitely come back again. The waitress was apologetic and kept us updated on the food status. They have both indoor and outdoor seating which appeared to be pet friendly. That was nice to see. Overall this is a great place to eat and drink with a cozy atmosphere. read more

Amazing!! I have been dying to try this place out since it opened. I loved the name and knew I would love the theme as well. I would come to this building when it still held Taste Buds pizza and was amazed at the transformation. We were lucky to get in for lunch and did not have to wait too long. That is what I had always been dreading. I saw that it actually had Mexican Coke but chose the Dragon's Breath martini and was not disappointed. I had the Goldilocks sandwich and it was excellent. On a impromptu girls trip to downtown Prescott we decided to stop by Bear & Dragon. We ordered a Mexican Mocha and a decaf cherry based coffee (I forget the name). The Mexican Mocha was one of the best coffee's I've ever had. My niece loved the cherry coffee. To eat we shared the Bjorn Breakfast and everything paired together beautifully. Because it was sandwiched between the warm toasted roll and poached eggs, it was a VERY UNPLEASANT experience that ruined the meal. When I mentioned it to the server, she simply replied, "we keep the avocados in the refrigerator". No offer to replace, refund or prepare a different option.
