Met up with friends for a fall day of drinks and an adult corn maze adventure. First stop: Bear Chase, conveniently close to our evening plans at the farm. Parking: A total zoo. By the time we arrived late afternoon, the early-bird drinkers had completely taken over. Cars were parked everywhere like a tailgate gone rogue. Thankfully, people were starting to leave and we snagged a nearby spot. Food & Drinks: Ordering is confusing -- same counter for both, but food pickup happens at separate windows (and yes, they hand you multiple pagers ). We got a classic hamburger and a giant pretzel. The pretzel? Hot, fresh, and came with delicious beer cheese. The burger? Lukewarm and not at all "grilled" as the name The Grill might suggest. Vibes: The view is gorgeous -- rolling hills and mountain scenery -- but wow, the volume! Between the music, chatter, and crowd noise, it was impossible to have a normal conversation. Verdict: Great scenery, good drinks, fun energy -- but if you're looking to actually talk (or eat a hot burger), maybe pick another spot. Perfect for groups who don't mind a bit of chaos and just want to soak up the views with a cider in hand.
Really loved the place. They got their own parking lot with abundant of spaces. There is a gift shop before their restaurant entrance. The sweatshirt, hat, coins, and other gift items seemed to be well made with quality in mind. The servers are very friendly, and they take time to explain to you about the beverage that you are interested in, and provide a sample cup if desired. The price is moderately reasonable. The come in 3 different sizes. And their food is actually amazingly scrumptious! We really enjoyed our time there! It was totally worth the visit. Will definitely visit again! 4.9 out of 5.
Bear Chase is hopping! Went there on Saturday evening and they were busy, but you could still find seating and there was not a delay in ordering beer or food. There was a live band and a lot of families hanging out both inside and out. My husband and I found a small table near their roaring fireplace, which was perfect. We enjoyed both stouts, dunkel and amber. My husband enjoyed the imperial stout the most and I think I favored the dunkel, though both the oatmeal stout and amber were also tasty. I also enjoyed the large pretzel and grilled chicken sandwich and my husband enjoyed the house burger. The environment was a little loud, but festive and fun. We are already planning to come back. We stopped by this brewery over a holiday weekend--definitely a fun place with a great outdoor setup. It was pretty busy (as expected), but the atmosphere was relaxed and family-friendly, which we really appreciated. The beer was decent--nothing mind-blowing, but solid enough for a casual afternoon hang. They have a little animal farm area, where the kids can feed the animals. That said, the live band was rough. Unfortunately, it kind of killed the vibe for us and was a big reason we didn't stick around longer. The pizza looked really good, though we didn't get a chance to try it. All in all, a good spot if you're looking for a laid-back place to bring the family--just maybe check who's playing before you go.
I really enjoyed our stop here. After hiking Bears Den, we came here for a beverage. From what I hear, it gets pretty busy and I can see why. Huge venue with tons of indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of space for parties and events and the beer is great. Excellent view of the mountains wherever you sit.
We celebrated our 3 year anniversary here this past weekend at the beer and wine festival. It wasn't much of a wine festival but deft beer They had so many great options and local vendors. I loved the Pumpkin patch more than Bears Chase Oktoberfest. The non beer char beers I enjoyed was, Lost Barrel cinnamon dolce porter, Corcoran Hard Cider barrel aged was my second fave. The food was aight, I liked the pretzel the best. Everything was meh. If they started having BBQ that would be amazingggg and pizza that didn't taste like frozen cardboard for $17. The service was regular nothing to brag about. The vibes were on point, there was live music, and AMAZINGGG views. I would recommend brining a blanket and cozy clothes. You can also bring your own chairs. There's patio seating and tons of outdoor seating. There's also covered seating.
We came here on a Thursday night and reserved one of the rooms in the back. Our wonderful server, Stefan, took such good care of us. I can't even tell you how wonderful of an experience this was for my team. The food was delicious as we ordered crab cakes, mini sliders, and dumplings. The place was just so beautiful. I wish I lived in this area but this would be a place I come visit again.
Good selection of beer on tap, nice variety of food, (delicious flatbread!) and stunning views! Family-friendly with dogs and bustling over the weekend! Great for groups with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, The sunset view of Shenandoah Valley is truly spectacular! While I missed the views the 1st time when it poured, I'm glad I came back to enjoy the view at sunset! There's a lot of picnic tables and areas for people to spread out and relax (there's also outdoor beer service). Along with a dozen or so types of beer on tap, there's also a couple of ciders, hard seltzer slushies, and a few non-alcoholic beers. You can easily find a beverage for anyone. I wish there were a couple of more ciders on tap. The ginormous pretzel was very filling and paired well with the Bold Rock Cider on draught. Highly recommend the upcharge for the beer cheese dip! I was stuffed before I touched the flatbread, and wished I started with the flatbread first! The Truffle Mushroom caramelized onion flatbread hit the spot and the flavors really blended well together. The Pepperoni Pizza was greasy and didn't look as appetizing. Note, the brewery doesn't make most of the food and get it from other vendors (they didn't go into details on their suppliers). There were a few types of flatbreads and pizza along with burritos, tacos, crab dips, and other types of finger foods. It would be nice to have more vegetarian options on the menu like a spinach artichoke dip, warm bread, truffle fries, etc. Have come back twice for the flatbread and the views!
When I was in AZ, my friend texted me the bearpaw symbol and said "We're taking you here when you visit." Cool. My last name is Bearhand so this symbol spoke to me. . Upon arrival, it looked very cozy, countryside. Once you walk into the place, its packed with dogs, dogs, dogs! I was in heaven!! So many people with beer and dogs. Yes! I love this!! I just wish my two little boogers could have flown here too. They would have made so many friends. The only downside, its SO loud. There is no dampening the sound - no insulation. We walked outside and wow - a hill with several giant firepits. I love fire a great fire but the wind was wreaking havoc. The view is beautiful and they have many plastic Iqloos to escape into as well. They have piles of wood, free to fuel your fire for as long as you'd like. The beers were delicious. The dogs were great. The view is spectacular. Bring the family. Bring the friends. Don't leave the dog behind! They will have plenty of buddies to meet at Bear Chase.
This place is MASSIVE. I was in total shock when we pulled up to an already full parking lot with lines coming out the doors and it was barely 1pm. WHO ARE ALL THESE PEOPLE AND HOW DO THEY KNOW ABOUT THIS PLACE!? Well that should be a testament to how fun this place is! It's waaaaaaaaaayyyy out there (as someone who lives inside the beltway) and while it took a little over an hour to get there, it was worth it! It was a gorgeous fall afternoon and there was everything from amazing views, great beer, all the food options you could ask for, live music and tons of FREE fire pits (first come first serve) with wood already stacked and ready to go for you. There beer was decent. I tasted the Pumpkin and Oktoberfest, along with both Hazy IPA's. I really liked that they had their own seltzers too. GET THE MULE- it tastes just like a Moscow Mule but as a seltzer- all gingery and limey. I tasted the Chill seltzer too and while it looked like antifreeze, it tasted like blue raz. They had several food situations going on which was KIND of annoying because if you ordered a pizza, some tacos, some charcuterie and those mozzarella sticks, you were given 4 different buzzers and had to pick them up at 4 different locations. I get that it was more efficient for them, but it was a lot as a customer trying to weave in and out of people only to be told when you finally get to the front of the line that you're in the wrong place. I did appreciate that they had different pour stations. People seemed happy to wait in line at the main bar (where they had ALL the things like wine and all the beers and seltzers) but if you just needed a drink, there were pop ups throughout the property that had SOME of the options with no line. Same with the bathrooms- there were regular ones in the main lodge but they had those fancy port-o-potties (the kind that are mobile, but in a truck or something, so there are multiple inside) out in the fields. That was nice. so GO HERE if you have a big group (or whoever)- just go early! It's super fun, they have everything you need (for the beer person, the wine person, the food person, the kid person and the dog person) for a fun afternoon.

After visiting a Loudoun County winery last weekend, I decided to explore one of the nicest breweries in the area this time--and Bear Chase Brewery did not disappoint! Nestled in the scenic hills, this brewery boasts some of the best views in Loudoun County. It was a perfect fall day to enjoy their lineup of house-grown beers, and the atmosphere was as refreshing as the brews themselves. My pick of the weekend was their Oktoberfest, which perfectly complemented the crisp autumn air. Such an awesome place! I love coming here. They do a bunch of fun activities during the week like bingo, which are so much more fun than you would think! The vibes are always good and the food is not bad! Every new drink I've tried here I have loved. What a view! No matter whether you sit inside or outside, you are in for a treat. I tried the Dunkelweisen and thought it was great. We also got a cheese pizza, which was ready very quickly and tasted great. The outdoor area has tons of seating and is very family-friendly. We visited on Memorial Day weekend and they had a face painting station set up for kids. Overall excellent place to relax and enjoy some beers. read more

Beat chase has got to be one of the coolest breweries I have been too!! They are constantly having cool events and live music to keep your interest, while also being a wonderful place to grab some sunshine and relax. They have multiple pour stations throughout the facility, even though most folks wait at the main tap room line. The bathrooms are clean. The food is really good and hits the spot. Also there is always plenty of parking!! Best feature is made to order crowlers for the road!! read more
This brewery is perfect if you're looking for great views, great beers and delicious food! It's perfect for families and gatherings. They have a ton of outdoor and indoor space. The beer options are endless, and they have a good selection of food to soak in the beer. Chorizo Nachos - So cheesy and delicious! They give you a good amount too. Mac and Cheese Bites - The mac and cheese reminded me of craft mac and cheese and I loved it. Fries - Extra good if you have any leftover cheese from the nachos. I came here with my two dogs at the recommendation of a friend. This is a fantastic spot to visit, for the views and for the beer. Their selection of beer was pretty extensive and very well-rounded. They had a type of beer for every preference, which is so hard to find these days especially in the summer (hooray for dark beers year round!!). The place is enormous, and they offer indoor and outdoor seating as well as a covered patio. The views from outside are pretty breathtaking, and there was nothing more that I needed once I sat down with a beer in some Adirondack chairs and took in that view. You order inside but despite the large crowds there when I went, getting my beer went smoothly and pretty fast. While it was noisy inside, you'd practically never know in your own little slice of paradise outside. The only things that brought you back to reality were screaming kids running around. While the views were incredible from the Adirondack chairs on the hill, there was no place to sit where there wasn't at least one porta-potty obstructing your view. While it's nice to have them spaced out in different areas so it's not a hike to go to the bathroom, it really impeded an otherwise perfect view. read more
Pretty sure this is my second home! I could go on forever. Obsessed with bear chase and is hands down one of my favorite breweries! It also holds sentimental value as right after I got engaged, my fiancé drove me here and had my entire family and all my friends surprise me, waiting out back on the lawn! I'm a regular and come often with my friends and family. Staff is friendly and they have a huge indoor and outdoor space. They always have a great lineup of live music and events going on. I also love going on a weekday when it's not as crowded. Taco Tuesdays are a must, where they have rotating taco specials such as $4 tacos. I love that this place is also dog friendly. Everyone just seems so happy when they are here. The staff are welcoming and the vibe is great. People are often taking photos and mingling with one another. The view is incredible as your sitting on top of a huge hill. They have plenty of picnic tables and adirondack chairs outside, as well as tons of seating indoors. They usually have several food trucks. I usually get their mac n cheese bites and their angry burger. The pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, Cajun spices, and sriracha make it the perfect spice that's right up my alley. Love their beer, my favorite is the Mr. Pink which is a tart cherry blonde ale. They have ciders, canned cocktails, and frozen slushee wine too! My only wish is that they add more heaters and fire pits for the colder days. It definitely gets chilly outside. I personally rather be outside than inside, so I just pack extra blankets. It's a great spot to drink at post hike. Bears Den trail has a beautiful lookout and is an easy hike on the same road as Bear Chase. read more

Bingo every Wednesday. Very crispy fries and Mac and cheese bites. Service was good and food came out relatively quick. You have to pickup. This place can get loud, but they also have a quiet room. read more

A picture perfect backdrop to enjoy some local brews at reasonable prices (pint for $6.50). Spent a fantastic afternoon on the sprawling lawns overlooking the Bluemont valley (they have indoor seating options too). Live country / soft rock music was great. We had the Octoberfest, Mr Blond, and the Eveinin Sunset IPA with pretzels and beer cheese - went back for more of the IPA. FYI no outside food allowed but plenty of food trucks around - and the brewery offers several appetizers - so no dearth of options. Lots of kids and dogs but the place is large enough for the romantically inclined to find a quiet spot. Already planning to come back here next weekend and sample some more of the beers and foods!! read more

Very nice brewery, it was the perfect location to close a day trip to Bluemont Virginia. We loved the area, we initially went to see the sunflower and peach farms around the area and stopped for a beer and a burger at Bear Chase brewery. It ended up being one of the highlights of the trip. So a nice ambiance, live music, plenty of space for indoor and outdoor sitting. Good food, good beer and good service. What else do you need? Bear Chase Brewery is such a beautiful, beautiful spot! It's located in Bluemont, VA, on a hill, where you'll see the views of the Virginia mountains, plenty of nature and enjoy the fresh air (there was no heatwave last week, when I was there). The views here are so breathtaking, especially at sunset. They had plenty of chairs to sit on, relax and unwind. You can also enjoy the view from the inside, where they had live music playing. I got their locally brewed Raspberry Tart. This is a sour, and it's just the way I like it, it's pleasantly, just enough tart. We also got a small cheese pizza, and burger to share, and a lemonade slushie, since a little kid was with us. I have to say, I was pretty disappointed in the food. The pizza was 100%, frozen from a box. It wasn't good at all, it was like eating cardboard. The burger was certainly the better of two food picks. I still really love this spot. We chatted, enjoyed the music, and mostly enjoyed the beautiful view! read more

A fantastic spot to check out after hiking Raven Rocks! It's right down the road. I came on a Thursday afternoon and there were only about 4 other couples there. I heard it can get really crowded on the weekends, but it's worth the fantastic beer, view and food. They serve half pints and full pints in disposable cups. I'm an IPA lover so I highly recommend Gertrudes Ghost. The Oktoberfest was pretty good too! Will be coming back to try other beers! read more
We've been here a couple times. Both pre-COVID and during. Best scenic views around for a brewery. Only comparison on that front is Dirt Farm Brewing. Lots of places to sit outside and on the back deck. Plenty of parking. The beers are good not great. I've enjoyed the IPAs while there, but nothing that I would want a growler fill or cans to take home. There's also too many IPAs and not enough balance with say a stout or two. Service has been good and not so great depending on volume of customers there and if they are doing landscaping and other work to the property. Music in the background is too loud in some places on the property. read more

This place is fantastic. The rolling hills of the VA and the vibes is on point. If you are looking for a dope brewery with incredible seltzer and a spectacular view, stop by. There isn't much to say about this place that they view doesn't say for itself. It has something for everyone and the vibes are on point. Family, friends, pets and relatives, all taking in an unbelievable view. The food is good, the lines are long, but they move fast, and the wait is worth it. The pretzel is well worth it and you have to try to the seltzer its literally the smoothes alcoholic beverage on the planet, and you will quickly see why they sell it by the pitcher, hand over fist - dangerously delicious stuff. Also, always be looking to snipe a table, it is worth it. They are so dope and they are great for holding your drinks and eating, and putting up your feet; something about that view and having your feet up make it all the better. read more

Wow! What an incredible experience. We went on a hike and stopped here for a bite. The views we amazing especially with the fall weather, it was perfect! For a brewery they had a many options for food. Beer cheese pretzel was huge! I am definitely planning on coming back! read more

Bear Chase offers it all: a Phenomenal setting, amazing drink selection, and mighty fine food. Perched on the side of a mountain, the brewery offers an incredible view of the valley. Couple this with live music and food vendors, its a place for everyone. There is porch seating and ample space in the back area where the views are. Drink stations are set up at various locations so you don't have to go back to the main area every-time. When we went, one of the food vendors was AT (Appalachian Trail) Eats. The burger was perfection. The price of this specific burger was a little more expensive, but otherwise the prices were reasonable. A really cool thing with Bear Chase is that they produce their own seltzers. The Orange Bear Claw (Actual Name haha) was to die for. It was so good I bought a pack to take home. If this spot wasn't a bit of a drive, I would be there every weekend. read more
A very good brewery. 2nd best view of the breweries. Normal a never take a pix of the bathroom but look. Nice bathroom Lots of room. Good layout and outside space. We had such a fun time at Bear Chase! The food was amazing and quickly served. The staff was so kind and stoked our fire for us. It was so cute seeing all the different families enjoying a call afternoon with some high quality live music in the background. We will definitely be visiting again! read more

This brewery was near our place that we were staying at. Let me tell you this was a cool setup. When we arrived it was super packed. We went in and they allowed me to try anything I wanted for FREE, it was busy but the lady was very nice. I tried a few samples and went with a New England IPA which was marvelous. My wife had a seltzer which I thought was the best seltzer that I tried from a brewery. It was yummy. So let me tell you , you have to order your food and drinks at the main counter. They provide you a buzzer, once it buzzes they have a different section that allows you to pick up your food. I got the steak and cheese and holy hell, it may have been the BEST Steak and Cheese I've ever had, even better than the one I had at Philadelphia, where it all originated from. The beers were good, the experience was nice here. We were inside, but outside the had little igloos that you can have a private party. They had other areas where you can setup a fire and enjoy the view. Overall, such a great brewery. read more
Where do I even begin? Went there with a group of friends on a Saturday evening. The place was packed, which is expected on a weekend night. However, their service was so horrible! We stood in line for 30minutes to order some beer. Bartender/server was rude & wanted us to order fast & be gone. We ordered two pizzas, it took an hour to get our pizzas. When it came out, it was so burnt... the amount of time we waited for what we got was not worth it. This place definitely needs a better system to manage their busyness. The only nice thing about this place was the view. The view was beautiful. People probably come here just for the view. read more

Hubby took me on date on a Sunday afternoon. Found parking immediately. Thought there was a lot of food options but not really. We had the hot and sweet chicken sandwiches and the potatoes wedges with chili on top both were good but not enough food options. Should add more bar food. Burgers and wings for example. Good beer I can't remember what he had lol. But I liked the "boots off and straw" . The gentlemen that helped us was very nice. I didn't get his name. Clean bathrooms. About a hour into our visit we were able to get a fire pit table. Bring a blanket ! It's chilly up there. There's people selling stuff like blankets and stuff for dogs. Beware that your ears will pop going up and coming back down. Absolutely stunning. Definitely have to come back. Kids are allowed but not somewhere I would bring my toddler. Too many ways for something horrible to happen. Last call was 4:45pm. read more
Really good selection of draft beers, and an outstanding view!! BF and I came here on a weekday, and it was very chill and mellow. However, from the size of the facility in the parking, I bet this place is a madhouse on a beautiful sunny weekend day. Perhaps he will have to come back to determine that. They had a reasonable selection of foods, and their giant pretzel was one of the better ones I've had around here. I thought the beers were pretty good, but BF did not have the same opinion. But they were at least two non-hoppy ones that I liked. read more

Wow what a BEAUTIFUL place for a brewery! And the inside is so incredibly cozy, I can't get enough of it! So much lawn space and chairs outside on nice days, and a ton of room inside with plenty of space to get a view. Be aware that they have live music on the weekends so it gets so loud inside that you can't hear anyone you came with. It also gets busy VERY quick, so I'd recommend coming early to snag a spot. I love their beer selection, that's the #1 thing that I look for in a brewery. There was something for everyone, not just 8 different IPAs and a blonde ale. The food was all pretty good, no complaints there. And even if you're there for the beer, you gotta try their blue hard Seltzer - it tastes like blue Gatorade! We came on a cloudy and then rainy day, so I can't wait to come back when it's nicer out and take full advantage of what they have to offer. read more
Beer brewery with a view. Situated on the east side of Mt Weather overlooking Purcellville this taphouse brewery offers amazing views. Plenty of outdoor seating clusters of comfy chairs and tables with open firepits, that the staff help keep lit!! Gorgeous and warm. They also have plenty of indoor seating , heated and with a view. Lines can get long but they move fast- so do not become discouraged. Savvy visitors can figure out which bar stand and location work the best as they offer more than one bar to get your favorite choice or selection. They also offer food - so if you are hungry- they have snacks and more--- pizza, pulled pork, tacos and gargantuan pretzels !! Beer selection is generous and you are sure to find a favorite!! Pitchers are price friendly so share a few pints and save a few bucks!! Check this place out - nice drive in the country or on a beer tour!! Staff is helpful and friendly. This place gets busy but don't worry - parking is easy and plentiful! Bear chase doesnt have any gluten free beer, but they offer slushies, sodas, chocolate milk and bottled water. This weekend 3/30/19 they are offering wine.
Do you have outside seating and do you allow dogs?
Yes, we allow dogs on the patio and lawn area. We require them to be on leash and the owners clean up after their pets.
