Ok first the wait here is always off the chain, so forget coming here on a weekend or anytime before 3pm. The decor is outdated, its super small, with one bathroom, and it's overpriced! I will give them the fact that the potion sizes almost make up for the price. You usually don't leave hungry. The wait staff are revolving so you dont get served the whole time by one person. Good luck trying to get help with anything other than a drink from those flitting around you. By the time you see your original person they're asking you to collect your check in the front so they can seat more people. I go very infrequently for all of these reasons but for the next one they lost me. I asked for an omlette with a simple modification they messed it up took a waitress forever to come back to my table to ask me what was wrong. While im waiting i try to enjoy the rest of my meal when I notice what was mold in it! Really someone toasted, buttered, and sliced my toast walked it all the way to my table and not a thing. Good solid breakfast. Contrary to some of the write-ups, the service was great. The waitresses don't seem to be "assigned" a table so anyone will help you. Maybe this is the problem that people were writing about. Our food was quick and we enjoyed it. I got the biscuits and gravy. My wife got the cheesecake pancakes. We both liked our food. Plenty of parking too - which is a challenge the closer you get to down-town. Brunch / lunch today. Mom had the "Sandra Special" - grits, eggs, bacon & French toast. It looked good & she enjoyed. I had the meatloaf special - was good/OK had a lot of a seasoning to the meatloaf & mash potatoes that over whelmed. But over all a good meal. P.s. was a bit loud. read more

Loved this hole in the wall local place. If you want some simple country breakfast this is it! The place is cute and has plenty of seating for many people. I love my eggs over medium well and no one ever cooks them right, but they got it perfect here. the bacon was melt in your mouth crispy and the French toast was so moist and flavorful!! Yummy in my tummy! This place is so cute, it's a mom & pop business with some serious menu selections and every day specials.. We've been here quite a few times. The menu options are awesome, but limited if you don't eat meat. I'm tired of spitting out chicken cartilage, every time I get chicken in my meal. Your meal will be MORE than you expected. The staff is always happy, friendly, efficient. There's always a line to get in when we go, so obviously people are happy! Just a little ole diner, but man can they crank out the food! I'm a big man, and a big breakfast eater, but I've met my match. I had the meat lover's omelette and the blueberry pancakes. The pancakes were absolutely delicious and as big around as the ostrich eggs I swear they must have used to make my omelette. I've never seen such a giant pile of egg, sausage, and bacon goodness. Add to that the homemade rye toast and big bowl of grits and that was one country breakfast that this country boy couldn't finish! I'll definitely be back again tomorrow to give it another shot though! For now, I think I'll go take a nap! read more

I have enjoyed eating at this diner-type establishment at least a dozen times. I've been with at least 2 to 4 guest and our orders are always fast, fresh, hot, good value and delicious. Great variety of local faces and Bear-E signature stuff. The Montreal omelette is awesome! Always super fun, friendly and team oriented staff who are genuinely interested in making the customer smile and feel that family atmosphere. Prolly some of THEE best in all my Chucktown dining experiences actually. Gets very busy near noon hour, very limited parking on busy corner. Take out after lunch so expect a big line up coming in to pick up. Place can be a bit dirty/untidy after the big lunch rush. Well lit, open decor, lots of comfy benches by the windows and diner tables that can be a bit on the small side if seating 4. Deserts are reDONCulously good. read more

Only place my eight year old sister will eat all her breakfast ! She loves the chocolate chip pancakes and bacon. And they don't add too many chocolate chips which is good, but just enough so they melt so she THINKS she is getting a lot. I went here once during breakfast time with my mother. It was pretty crowded but it took no time for us to find a seat. The meal was pretty good. I had eggs and French toast. My issue with my meal is the fact that you either get sour dough or raisin bread French toast. Mine was sourdough which gave my French toast a tangy taste. I think it would've tasted better with texas toast, country, or French bread instead. Service was decent. Not spectacular but not horrible either. Have not been in years and today I remembered why. Bacon cooked so long and dried out so bad it breaks like crumbled egg shells. No taste to their food. I do not get it.
