    Store front. Strawberry puff

First time we tried beard papa after eating lunch across from it. It was super delicious. Nothing like it anywhere. Wish we tried it sooner. Service was quick and cheerful. Nice take out with lots of seating nearby.

Delicious eclairs. I'm so glad they have a location in Glendale. They now offer a nice variety of glazes and fillings, though my go-to is still the classic with vanilla cream. Service is quick and efficient. My only suggestion would be to provide a small container of powdered sugar on the side for to-go orders, so it can be added fresh right before eating. Conveniently located inside Glendale Galleria.

After walking around the Galleria- we needed something to cool off . Found this cream puff deli to try. Not too sweet yet delicious. Will recommend- 5 stars.

    Mini with green tea filling

I came here to obtain a stamp on my card. I was trying to earn enough stamps so that I could get a yelp goodie bag. Free parking because it's located near the food court at the Glendale Gallaria. Quite a few places to sit if you are lucky enough to get a table which I was. Not much ambiance since I'm sitting in a crowded mall. The young lady helping me wasn't too sure what to do in regard to the yelp card, but thank goodness there was someone there to assist her. I was surprised how small and expensive the mini was!! Bought only one and it tasted fine if you like a pastry with cream in it. I got the green tea filling.

The area looked disorganized and there was no one to be found for 10 minutes. The space could be a little cleaner. Other customers came by and got fed up waiting. Finally a mother and her teenage girl came. The teen saw the doorbell, probably because it was at her eye level. The main glass area where the register is might be the best location for the door bell as most people go to that area to look for staff. If that is not possible, please try to make the door bell more visible so that it can be seen from a distance. As for the items I purchased, I decided to try the Dubai chocolate shell with the chocolate filling ($5.25) as it looked delicious on your poster. The chocolate shell was too thick that when I bit into it hard enough to crack it, a lot of the filling oozed out of it and onto the paper and my hand. There was also only a light hint of pistachio and more of dark chocolate. I also wanted to try the Sakura matcha eclair with green tea filling which is what I pointed to and ordered, but was given the green tea eclair ($5) instead. I do not recommend combining two green teas as it intensifies the flavor; try vanilla instead.

It is located close to the food court. There is a seating area right in front of the store. The Service: Matthew was helping me at the counter. Super friendly and efficient. He prepared my giant creme puffs beautifully! The Dessert: There are 4 flavors of the cream filling, chocolate, vanilla, green tea and coconut. Super generous, every bit with overflow fillings. I always love their chocolate, strawberry and green tea eclairs. This time I wanted to try the fancy ones, Oreo crumble, honey butter and churro eclairs. OMG! They are my new favorites now! Definitely bring these creme puffs to the next level. I love to mix & match the shells with different fillings. Fresh baked pastries with nicely chilled fillings. They are perfect dessert or gifts for any occasion. The Parking: Park at Garage A (free).

Beard Papa is a Santa Claus type of character (cue kindness and a fluffy white beard), named Yuji Hirota, a baker from Osaka, Japan. If you didn't know, the Osaka/Kobe area of Japan is famous for sweets and baked goods. It's my mom's hometown! Beard Papa is celebrating its 25th year and now has over 475 stores worldwide. These are delicate cream puffs and not on an American level of sweetness. These are much more subtle, in the Japanese confectionary style. The filling ratio is a secret recipe- a combination of whipped cream and vanilla custard cream and they are $4.50 each, filled to order. I do have two wishes: I wish they had a strawberry cream filling and I wish they'd give you a napkin without having to ask! Other than that, Beard Papa cream puffs are a satisfying treat. I normally get the strawberry puff with coconut cream and my mom approves of the matcha green tea puff with green tea cream filling. Today, I tried the chocolate eclair with coconut filling. Tasty and light with just the right amount of sweetness.

This place is great for a quick treat!! Worth the $$ for sure!! It's delicious and the chocolate filling reminded me of chocolate pudding!! Very delicious and well worthy of having as a snack for the mall!!!!

Buy 1 Get 1 Free Shell all day 2/19/2023

We stopped by on the perfect day because they were having their 1 year anniversary celebration with a special promo, buy 1 get 1 free eclair shells all day on 2/19/2023. We got the Green Tea Eclair Shell, Strawberry Eclair Shell, and Honey Butter Eclair Shell (x2) all with original vanilla filling. Our favorite was the honey butter ones. It was so yummy and not too sweet. The green tea and strawberry cream puffs were too sweet, maybe it's the icing on top. Quick service and it wasn't busy at all. We ordered and got our cream puffs immediately. You need to eat these right away when it's still fresh. Otherwise it wouldn't taste as good.

    No workers in sight

Customer service at this location is terrible, first of all the workers are in the back somewhere hanging out, no where to be found at the front. I observed for an about an hour and multiple customers stopped by but left because no one was there to help them. And the short girl working there had an attitude, no friendly customer service or enough minis for the weekend.

I LOVE Beard Papa's, especially this location! It's my favorite place to get desserts at the Glendale Galleria. I usually stop by every time I visit the mall. Service is always super fast! The shells are already made so they just add the filling and hand it to you. I like how you can customize the shell (original or eclair), filling (vanilla, chocolate, or green tea), and they also asked if I wanted powdered sugar on top! When it comes out, the crispy shell with the cold sweet cream makes for an absolutely heavenly treat!!! There's plenty of filling inside as well. Make sure to grab napkins because it can be messy the more you bite into it! Also, the service today was exceptional as my cream puffs were packaged nicely and came in super cute liners, which I haven't seen them use before. They even currently have a collab with the anime, Mashle: Magic and Muscles, which I thought was GENIUS on their part. You can grab themed cream puffs and merch! I highly recommend going!!!

Came here for the souffle pancakes and they didn't disappoint!…read more My party of 3 stopped by Saturday afternoon 2:30 pm and it wasn't crowded. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose outdoor since it was such a nice day out. They have all of their desserts on display in the case, so you can peruse the options and see what looks good. So many of the desserts looked good, like the matcha yuzu chiffon crepe cake or the rose and lychee crepe cake. We ordered via the kiosk and got the mango sunshine souffle pancake ($16.50) and well as a couple drinks. My drink was the white peach lemon jasmine bliss ($6.25), with 50% sweetness and less ice. Even though there are signs everywhere saying that it takes 15-20 minutes for the souffle pancakes to be cooked, ours came out super quickly, in 5 minutes or so. We got it with the sauce on the side, but I regret doing that as I saw others getting it with the sauce on top and it was beautiful. The pancake was super fluffy and a bit eggy as well. We all really enjoyed it with the mango sauce. I made the mistake of eating the pancake first before trying a sip of my tea. The pancake was pretty sweet, so I could barely taste my drink, but I think it was good? I could taste a bit of the lemon but definitely not the white peach, which is a lighter flavor. I got a slice of their Hokkaido cheese cake roll for $7 to go and had it the next day. It was okay but definitely a bit pricy for what you get. I'd love to come back to try their other desserts and pancakes!

I ordered a matcha coco jasmine tea and I found that the jasmine flavor completely took over. The oolong peach crepe cake was yummy! It had little peach chunks throughout. Good oolong/peach flavor was light, airy, and slightly sweet. The black sesame chiffon roll was also light and subtly sweet with a nice nutty flavor. The cafe itself was pretty small with 3 small tables, 1 big table, and bar seatings with charging ports. The bathroom was closed and it was really warm inside. I couldn't see myself studying or staying too long, which may be for the best since parking is tricky and street parking has a 2 hour limit. An okay experience, but I don't see myself coming back.

Not only was the flavor amazing (which made me want to return and try them all) but the presentation was definitely instagram worthy. The one negative is that the seating was not plentiful for all their customers but this is definitely not a negative for the owners. That just means they have a great business. Location is in old town so parking might be a challenge.

A Little Cheat Night Never Hurt Nobody!…read more After eating the juiciest chicken ever at Loli Farms, I've been eyeing this dessert spot for a while, and luckily it was only 1.6 miles away. So obviously... dessert was happening. Perfect excuse for a little cheat-night treat! Parking Hack: Don't pay $5 for parking! We parked about 7 minutes away in a parking structure for only $1 for 2 hours. After all the delicious food I inhaled, I definitely didn't mind getting a little extra cardio in. Pasadena parking is definitely doing the most, so parking structure it was! Mango Melon Shaved Ice -- $8.50 | 7.8/10 Mango-flavored shaved ice topped with melon balls and served with a side of milk drizzle. The shaved ice itself was SO soft and fluffy, and the milk drizzle gave it just the right amount of sweetness. The only thing was... I really couldn't taste much mango in the shaved ice. It was pretty subtle, so I wouldn't say this one completely blew me away, but it was still a refreshing treat on a hot summer night. Definitely not the best I've had, but certainly not the worst! Injeolmi Shaved Ice -- $7.50 | 7.7/10 Milk-flavored shaved ice topped with mochi, layers of Injeolmi powder, and more milk drizzle. This was actually our first time trying Injeolmi, so we were curious! The combination of the soft shaved ice, milk drizzle, and nutty Injeolmi powder was really good and made for a fun flavor combination. My only complaint? THE MOCHI. They were soooo tiny! I wanted that satisfying chewy squish, but these little guys basically tasted like mini boba that disappeared the second I bit into them. The shaved ice itself was perfectly soft and honestly the star of both desserts. Inside, there aren't a ton of tables, but luckily we snagged one right when we walked in. And let me tell you... this place had a constant flow of customers the entire hour we were there! People were coming in and out left and right, with only one ordering machine, so expect a little patience if it gets busy. Overall, both shaved ices were pretty decent and made for the perfect little "I already ate too much but I'm still getting dessert" moment. Definitely a nice way to break the diet after our chicken feast! Would I come back? Absolutely, especially to try some of their other shaved ice flavors. Happy desserts!
