There was a little wait as the restaurant was busy - they were seating what appeared to be full capacity here as I did not see an open table in our dining area - so be mindful of that if you are concerned about that during COVID. Service was good. There were some mistakes - missing toppings, but they were corrected. My husband and I ordered the chip's pie - chicken artichoke pizza which was pretty good. They serve honey with the pizza - still being served in that sharable bottle instead of individual cups which many restaurants have gone to in regards to condiments. At any rate, I had used honey with my crust before because my family introduced it to me, but this was the first time going to a restaurant that served it with the pizza. I see why as the crust is not the most flavorful crust, so it needs something. The honey helps and gives you a nice way to end eating the pizza. I visited Beau Jo's once on a road trip a few years ago in Idaho Springs. It was so amazing I never stopped talking about it, until recently I took another trip to Denver. While visiting Denver we heard of the existence of the "Colorado Style" pizza, decided we had to try it and found this place as one of the most recommended. The place was packed (which for us meant we were on the right track), but our group of five didn't have to wait long for a table (maybe 5 minutes). The service was fast and courteous, we didn't have to wait at all to put our drinks order in. We ordered a medium Chicken Pesto and a large Pepperoni for our group and it was plenty of food, we even took home a few slices. The pizza itself was tasty, the highlight for us was the crust which was delicious and quite filling. I am very particular about calzones - needs to have ricotta - which they offer (though it shouldn't be a pick your cheese but automatic). I always do a build your own with pesto sauce, artichoke, mushroom and spinach. Would like them to give an extra sauce on side like one marinara comes with it but also what sauce you use inside, as in pesto for me. But always good. Trying Colorado Style Pizza (aka Mountain Style) for the first time. Verdict: EXCELLENT. I highly recommend. The crust is a braided crust and you basically can rip it off and dip if you wish. They recommend dipping in honey which was surprisingly good! Our waitress was excellent - making our first time here extremely easy as she explained the menu and the particulars of the pie which we weren't familiar with having only learned there even was a Colorado Style Pizza a few hours earlier. So glad we came here and tried something new. While I still prefer traditional New York style pizza, Colorado Style was definitely enjoyable and if it existed near me, I would definitely return on occasion as it's really that good. Follow up on the 01/30/24 review. The menu clearly states the medium Prairie pie reads "medium 2lbs" along with the mountain pie. There is not any info about the Prairie pie to weigh 1.14lb, or less, about 40% less then advertised. Suggest a rewrite of the menu to list these two pie weights and ingredient amounts separately. Pizza here is a somewhat unique experience, as the crust is thin but piled extra high with toppings and cheese, and has a extra fluffy crust. They also have local honey on the table to finish off the crust with. Beau Jo's is the only place I've tried that does a wheat crust that tastes good. I think I've been going to Beau Jo's for the last two decades, and there's a reason for that. This Arvada location is really well taken care of and clean. It's a pretty big location so we've never had to wait at this one (the others are smaller) Parking is easy as well so no issues there. Anyways, love the staff here they are always so nice and easygoing. We've always had such great servers at this location. If you don't know the food it's really worth checking out! I love the mountain pie concept since the crust is extra big and they give you honey to put on it. It's just a unique take on pizza that has a Colorado flair to it :) Good beer selection, and I'm also a fan of the cheesy bread! It was Beau Jo's night. I ordered take out online. Two prairie pizzas (Sausage Combo and Lil' Italy) and a house salad. Each item had customizations available to add or subtract toppings. On both pizzas I subtracted mushrooms because I am allergic. I arrived at my pick up time. They were very busy with a full dining room. I did need to wait a few beyond my time for the order to be ready, but on a busy night it is understandable. I brought our dinner home. The salad was excellent. And though the pizza tasted great, there were mushrooms on both pizzas. They were covered up by the cheese and I did not see them until my cough showed up. I finished my salad, took some antihistamine and my family had the pizza. They do have really good food. Attention to detail does need some work. read more

We came in on a Friday 01/10/2020 at lunch time. There was plenty of parking and tables available. The greeting from the host was very par. We have been to Beau Jo's before, but not this particular location. We ordered a couple sprites and one of the glasses had a woman's lipstick left on it. The server was also extremely average. He changed out the glass for us. We proceeded to order a large spinach dip with veggies and chips. The server recommended getting the half order instead. That was thoughtful of him because the half order was plenty. We also ordered a medium "Hipster" pizza with the thick crust. When the spinach dip came out, the spinach was in a wheat bread bowl. There were surrounding chips and 4 celery sticks. The menu should not say veggies and dip... it should say celery and dip. I was really craving some carrots, but I guess that's not part of the order. Or it is and they decided not to add the other veggies to the appetizer. Luckily my girlfriend enjoys celery so she was happy with what came out. Next our pizza came out and had a nice hot taste to it. Fresh out of the oven. And they set the pizza on a convenient table rack. I think the pizza was decent, but next time I would go with possibly the margarita pizza. All of the ingredients on the hipster pizza is just a bit too much. The honey on the table is awesome to add to the crust of your bread. The noise level was mild. The restaurant seemed fairly clean. Some other worker was on it with the refills. I'm guessing if that guy was our server, I would be saying we had good service. Just a difference between people who care and others who get by. When the bill came at the end, I thought it was all very fair for pricing. The experience was the epitome of average. Most likely I would not come back though. The drive is a bit far for a basic experience. With that being said, on the right day and with the right service... you could have yourself a great experience. Was a little disappointed there was no vegan ranch (maybe it's only some locations). Also - the Beau Jo's red sauce has honey in it so vegans make note. I know we had to try the mountain pie so we went with the hipster since everything sounded good. Well, it was bland. We were seated quickly although the restaurant was packed when we arrived at 6:30pm on Wednesday night. The floors were clean and our table was ready for us when we sat down. Our waiter knew the menu well and helped us land on our orders. I had a medium order of honey bbq wings, my wife a vegetarian pizza on gluten free crust, and my girls had a custom pizza. The food arrived promptly and looked delicious. We were not disappointed with the food. The food was hot and the vegetables were fresh and the flavors were fantastic! Our drink cups were never left empty and the waiter was pleasant. I used the "facilities" on the way out and they were clean and stocked. On 9/6/25 my girlfriend and I and two other friends came here we sat outside which was nice looking. and had a good pizza but our waiter was rude to girlfriend, then we leave my lady forgets her purse we call about it legit ten minutes later saying how we forgot it. We go back and get it and two hundred dollars is missing from the front pocket which is closed very tight and impossible for it to just "fall out" as they said. I go in talk to the manager who said "No one could have taken it we have cameras and only I and another person has access to the office". "But we'll look." and I told him "well if yall can't find it I'm unfortunately going to have to call the police. His entire mood shifted and he immediately went ill look at the cameras and check the porch him and the server we had and one other server go and look all over the porch. Not realizing my lady is in the car still in front of the Porch and sees our server the only one by where "they found it" and goes here it is. Lately we haven't had any " now that was a good pizza" pizza , i thought we would try the Arvada Beau Jo's and see how it compared to the Original Idaho spgs location and unfortunately just because it has the name doesn't mean its the same thing. To start off with it was packed, which we thought was a good sign a little unexpected with the covid situation, but it is what it is. We were seated inside immediately as we asked for whatever was available first. Decent size dining area with both booths and tables but unfortunately we were seated under a recessed light that kept flickering of and on and brought my attention to the water damage to the drywall in need of repair after about 15 minutes of this annoying light we asked to move outside which was a nice move as the weather was great!! Our apps came and the Nachos were a huge portion for being a half order and the cheese garlic bread was average size both were fair but nothing to brag about. Next came the pizza , and it looked really good and delicious but unfortunately it was so greasy that when all of us took a bite or tried to serve a slice all the ingredients slid off of the crust so you had crust with no ingredients, lol. So I dont know what they did in Idaho Spgs but we didn't have that issue there and it was the same exact pizza. Our service was fair but not over friendly or welcoming, no checkbacks, or suggestions, it was just business. And honestly I have been tipping alot more than usual because of Covid, because my occupation is deemed "essential " so I've been trying to share my blessings but since we were treated as "just business," so was my tip. 15% . My friends had been raving about wanting to try Colorado Style pizza while in Denver so we made a trip out here. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the pizza! We got the Lil' Italy, Sky Hawk & Pacific Plantation all in small sizes which I would say is a decent sized personal sized pizza. Our favorite was the Sky Hawk. While I loved the thick chewy crust, I didn't care for the honey that they suggested to eat it with. Nevertheless, still a great pizza. The only issue was that I wish the ratio of crust to toppings of the small sized pizza was more proportional. Each slice of the small sized pizza came out to be basically half crust and half toppings and I felt that there was too much crust (which may not be a problem if you order a medium or large sized pizza). I'm also taking some points off because the restaurant could use a little renovation because it feels a bit outdated and grimy. Definitely an interesting try when coming to Denver! read more

What is so special about Beau Jo's? I had my last slice of leftover New Year's pizza from Beau Jo's. It's gone, and that makes me very happy. During the time I lived in Denver, I heard about Beau Jo's in Idaho Springs, that their pizzas were very well endowed, more like meat pies than pizzas. After I moved out of the area, I saw a segment of a food show that featured Beau Jo's. That's when I put them on my bucket list should I get back to Colorado. Then recently I saw that I could try their pizzas through Goldbelly. I decided to splurge and place an order. The sausage combination would be our Christmas Eve meal and I'd have the meatball pizza on New Year's. I was so looking forward to it. I did not expect-- "Disappointment in a box" Both pizzas were a bust. What's so special about Beau Jo's? Not much! Beau Jo's pizza is no more special than some others I have had that are actually much better. Here's why. Size: Both pizzas were smaller than I expected, medium at best. But that was just the first disappointment. Crust. Beau Jo's pizzas are known for their huge crusts. The pizzas I received did not have big crusts and they didn't get bigger during the baking, just brown. The bottom crust was soggy, floppy and thin, maybe 1/8 inch. That was shocking to me. The rest of the crust was tough and unpleasant tasting. It did not taste like it was made with yeast. For a place known for its crust, that was a huge disappointment. Ingredients. Maybe the pizzas were a bit more well-endowed, but nothing to write home about, and no comparison to a Chicago-style pizza. I love cheese, but both pizzas had way too much of it compared to the other ingredient. (Filler?) I figured the meatball pizza had at least a quarter inch layer of cheese laying on top of the 1/8 inch crust. It was hard to eat that much cheese! And the meatballs were actually pieces of meatballs, not whole meatballs like the wonderful meatball pizza that Villa Capri used to make. I did add some mushrooms, onions, and black olives to try to make it taste better, but they didn't help. I am too embarrassed to say how much these two average pizzas set me back, but it was exorbitant. However, you learn from your mistakes and I am glad I got Beau Jo's out of my system. I won't give them another thought after I finish venting here. Should I want a really deluxe and tasty pizza, I will head to Minsky's Pizza in Kansas City. It's very good, though not one of my all-time favorite places. Jenny's California Café had the best tasting crust I've ever had, and Tindy's had a well-endowed, fabulous, no-complaints deluxe pizza. I miss both places terribly and have found nothing that compares to either. I figured Beau Jo's was going to be the best pizza I'd ever have in my life. I was wrong. The truth is, I would never have paid the really big bucks for an average pizza, which is exactly what I got. Neither pizza looked like those I saw online, on TV, or on YouTube. I decided to go online and see if my experience was an anomaly. On Yelp, I saw restaurant ratings of 3.4, 3.5 and 3.6. I read a lot of reviews where the restaurant responded but didn't "make it right" for the unhappy customer. I saw some pretty negative comments on Reddit and Trip Advisor, and have to agree with them. Someone in November complained about the crust in the Arvada location not being the huge size she once remembered. I am thinking my pizzas came from that restaurant. "The bottom crust was super thin and dry as a saltine. The side crust was equally dry." "I work in the pizza industry. Trying regional styles while I travel is one of my favorite things. This pizza was a tremendous disappointment." Go online and type in "Beau Jo's pizza." You will find a lot of pictures showing that their pizzas look like the set of five I am posting together. The other picture shows what I actually got, which was an over-cheesed pizza with pieces of meatball. I added the black olives, mushrooms, and onion to try to give it more taste. But it still wasn't very good. Message to restaurant: You say I got your medium because that's the largest you can fit inside the boxes. Then get a bigger box OR be very truthful in your description on Goldbelly so other customers won't expect a larger size with the larger crust, which is what you are famous for and what is shown in most pictures and videos. That's what I expected to get. Why else would I pay $100 for two average at best medium pizzas, or for, as reviewer Kerri put it, disappointment in a box? I had such anticipation of something really special for my Christmas and New Years meals! Finally, I noticed in all your comments, you don't really offer to make it right to disappointed customers, just excuses. Another reviewer mentioned what she remembered your pizzas used to be like, so maybe you changed the way you make pizzas and do business when ownership changed. Labor Day weekend. Came to enjoy live music with Gregg Green on the patio. Enjoy not only the music, but being able to have our dog with us. Drove up from Monument to enjoy dinner. Been a while since we ate at a Beau Jo's since they aren't in Southern Colorado (yet??). 1/2 order of the spinach artichoke dip. Served in a mini pizza crust bowl. Yummy. Plenty for 2. Almost a meal in itself. Pizza: Motherlode. Wheat crust. Packed & stacked full of meat. Delicious. One slice is a pretty good portion. I had 2. Food fantastic. Downside. Service slow. After 15 minutes of no one checking in we went to the bartender for drinks. She ended up taking our order too. Appetizer slow to come, pizza came more quickly. Patio tables not bussed. Trash on the ground. A little more attention outside is needed. Watch your bill. They tack on a 5% supply chain fee, but don't tell you upfront or on the menu. Side note; No cheap red pepper flakes.
