This is only our second time here. And it was just as great as the first visit. They were busy on a Fri night. We were lucky and got a table in the back. Soft music on the background was at the right volume. The Blue Mussels were a little small but the flavor was there. We dipped our bread into the sauce to sop it up. The Greek Salad was okay, at least pretty fresh. Now that pizza Mama Bono Supreme was so delicious. That would be great for to-go too. The Penne Pesto was good too. We added sausage, which I though would've been cut up, but it was just an entire sausage sitting on top. But the pesto was flavorful, not too ovepowering. read more

I went for a late lunch today and had their dinner portion of spaghetti and a meatball, which was $11.99. It was a nice portion and was very tasty, I would definitely recommend it. Their food is always delicious. It's a small family owned restaurant in a strip mall off of 6th and Indiana, in Golden. My only complaint was the "garlic" bread was very tiny and had hardly any butter or flavor on it, rather dry. read more

We love going to Bono's. Lately the quality of the food has been less than it once was. I ordered eggplant parm and the exterior or the eggplant was burned and black. The texture of the eggplant was tough liking due to the way it was cooked and the heat. The time before the chicken parm was rubbery in its texture. Really delicious food and very friendly staff. I came here out of town on a whim, and they were super kind and welcoming. The bolognese was really unique because of the three meat blend (beef, sausage, pancetta), but sooo good! It was very fresh yet hearty. Just another family Italian joint. I really don't know the appeals of such establishments, they all feel similar to me. Service is definitely good, when one of our friends complained her shrimp scampi doesn't taste as expected, they were quick to make something else to make up for it. Our dishes taste hot and fresh, not bad, not great either. I'm disappointed that an Italian restaurant doesn't have more pasta shapes than penne, Mac, fettuccine, and spaghetti. Everything was amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The garlic bread was so good, and their homemade marinara sauce paired well with it. Desserts were to die for. Im not sure what has happened to this family favorite. Last night we went to enjoy some great Italian food. Ordering drinks was so difficult. They were out of Chianti, and according to our server, they have been out of it for "some time now"! What? My son ordered a 7-7. The waitress had no idea what it was. We had to explain it, bit by bit! Questions about the menu were met with condescending responses. When serving our salads, she spilled salad dressing all over my grandson. She offered an apology, but nothing else. It was like she was blaming him. Very unprofessional. The worse part was the bill! If I hadn't looked it over, we would have been overcharged by more than $100. Instead of 4 glasses of wine, she was charging us for 7! Instead of 2 beers, we were charged for 6, and other items we never ordered. It was shocking! I think we are done with Bono's and that's a shame because we have such good memories of this place. I expect cheesy garlic bread to be hot and crispy with gooey, melted cheese on top. This bread was barely room temperature. We were also happy to find out she was from Fullerton, California. Will be there in a little over a week! We had a variety of main courses. We love the food, but the restaurant is poorly managed and very dirty. The ceiling vents haven't been cleaned in quite some time and the walls are greasy and need to be repainted. The carpeting is covered in dirt and crumbs, and in disrepair as well. After running restaurants for over 20 years, I can tell you this is inexcusable and could be fixed for very little cost. We enjoyed our meals, but our meal did take over 40 minutes to receive for just 2 of us. The food was great, but when we paid cash for our meal and left payment on the table, the manager/owner came running out after us to see if we paid. He could have checked the table more easily. I'm not looking for an apology, but I do hope ownership receives this as usable feedback to improve. We have decided to take our business elsewhere and do hope these issues are addressed. read more

Let me explain my rating. Having grown up on the East Coast, Italian food is in my veins, so I can be picky. The food was good, but not really outstanding. Needed more seasoning- onion, garlic, fresh basil and even salt and pepper. Presentation was good, quantity was generous, great fresh bread for sandwiches, but just need more flavor in the gravy(sauce). Still a good place to eat. Dining area is getting old and it's an order and then sit style of service. Could use some updates and a thorough cleaning, but comfortable and not 'dirty'. Now the real highlight was the young guy running the front! He was attentive, never stopped working, greeted customers, followed up with every table to see how we were doing and cleaned tables all while ringing up orders. We had a great experience at Bono's. The food and service was great. This Restaurant offers sit down service with a waiter, to-go and carry out at the counter. The restaurant is pretty large. There were a few seats occupied but pretty slow on a Sunday night. Our staff was very fast and attentive. They were fast at getting us drinks, food and our check. We had the mussels, salads, and the garlic butter noodle dish. Everything was delicious. They even brought us a huge plate of garlic bread - fresh out of the oven for all out buttery dishes. A dish that probably only gets two half slices came with at least 8! We had a breaded chicken substituted for the grilled chicken and it was fork tender. It was well seasoned and made a good accompaniment to the pasta dish. We tried the tiramisu and the chocolate mousse. It was too much to finish but I can't wait to finish one tomorrow. I'm not sure if they were made from scratch but they were good. We would definitely try them again. read more
