Went to the University location during happy hour with $5 Avalanche Ales and $5 buffalo wings got things started (heads up, the happy hour wings come five to an order, not the same portion as the regular menu's six for $13). Then the Hawaiian BBQ Mountain Pie showed up and it was Thick hand rolled crust, loaded with BBQ chicken, pineapple, Canadian bacon, and provolone. My favorite part, they hand you honey to dip the crust in like it's dessert. Also tried the Hamburger pie, which was solid too. Worth noting, gluten free and vegan options are available across most of their pizzas, not just a couple. Beau Jo's was highly recommended by Denver locals and we just moved here last week so we figured we would give it a try because we love pizza and I really enjoy trying unique local food places. The order was also missing two extra orders of sauce, which I'm not even mad about. The reason I'm mad is because I feel lied too. I totally understand this is a much more bready style of pizza. Which I would have been fine with. But the flavor was off, there were no spices on it, it was just plain, cold, hard, and completely underwhelming. The wings tasted like Tyson and the accompanying chips were soggy and stale. Once again this wouldn't be a big issue, I very rarely leave reviews on here. But I only order pizza as a special occasion like once every other month because unfortunately if I ate it every night I would be broke and dying of a heart attack. So the fact that I wasted my rare occasion to eat pizza on this deeply hurt me. The food you get for the price is just not there. Beau Jo's brings me back to that young man who wanted to be an astronaut, spoiler alert I did not become an astronaut, and I get to eat and reminisce about times with my parents and family and the first time I had that crust with honey. I recommend anything on the menu, seriously. I've yet to have one bad slice from this Colorado landmark. It was truly a gift from God that there is one not too far from me that harkens to me, "My guy, you know you want this super tight slice of Colorado mountain pie to enter and be chewed upon by your mouth hole." I'm powerless against it. It has changed my life. On the real, thank you Beau Jo's for all of the wonderful memories of times with my family and friends these past about 30+ years. We got a large mountain pie with pep and sausage and the baked stuffed mushrooms and omg all delish. Definitely had to tell the boyfriend to put honey on the crest and he liked it alot! Parking may be a little difficult to find. We ended up parking across the street. We were excited for the opening of Beau Jo''s in this area. When we went inside, I was surprised that the location was not packed. We were able to sit down right away. The ambience looked nice. I think our server may have been somewhat new. It felt like he was constantly trying to upgrade us to order more. It also seemed like he was in a hurry to get our order. We had the spinach dip appetizer. We had a couple house salads with ranch dressing. We enjoyed a triple layered pepperoni pizza. And a couple sodas with the food. I feel like the triple layered pepperoni pizza had way too many pepperonis on it. I wish I would have ordered a normal pizza. I felt like the menu was confusing. I am giving it four stars on this visit because I feel like I could have ordered something that I enjoyed more. And when our meal was done, I realized that I was being nitpicky on the service. Man, I love Beau Jo's! This location was fantastic for multiple reasons: 1. The food was delicious! There's no better pizza than Beau Jo's mountain pies, plus some honey on the crust. If I could eat it daily, I would. Really, I would! 2. I got to introduce my whole team of 16 year old boys and their families to my favorite pizza because they roped off a third of the restaurant for us with only about 2 hours of lead time. 3. The service was impeccable. They timed the pizza service perfectly for my group and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. The only tough part was parking, but we all found spots either out front or around the corner in the neighborhood. This is the perfect pizza joint! read more

Gotta love the mountain pies here! They are generous with toppings, have an option of going half and half with the pizzas so you can accommodate more palates, and the service is great. This location is less... rustic/homey than the Idaho Springs one of course, and even the Arvada location... but I am so thrilled to have one closer to my house. We both prefer a New York style crust but this was still really good. Make sure to get some honey packets and drizzle honey on the crust to get the full mountain pie experience!! On a trip to the mountains a few weeks ago, we stopped at the original Beau Jo's for lunch and tried the new green chili they have on the menu and were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Back in Denver a few days later we went to the location by DU and got more green chili as well as queso and chips - two orders of each. Everything was terrific! On our next two visits to the same location, things weren't so great. Both times we got home and all four containers were not even half full. See pictures. Each time we paid over $30.00 plus tax - $7.00 for each order. I called and spoke with the store manager who was very nice but he advised that they have been told by company managem that portions must be only 4 ounces. Look at those pictures and tell me if you think the food in each of those containers is worth $7.00 a piece. I went on the Beau Jo's website and sent feedback on this. That was more than three weeks ago and I have yet to receive a response. Very disappointing. We haven't been back since, which is sad because I was born and raised here and have been eating Beau Jo's all my life. read more

There was so much dough on the edge it was like a dinner roll without toppings. If you're down for that type of pizza then fine but it's not really how pizza should be crafted. We had a very disappointing visit here last week. After what seemed like a forever long build out the neighborhood was a buzz about BJ's finally opening so we decided to walk and enjoy a drink and a pie. Upon entering we were immediately directed to get in line and order, it's very off putting to walk in a new place and be expected to order a large meal with salads and cocktails as soon as you enter. They don't seem to know if they want to be a fast casual or full service with a bar type of restaurant. Our entire party was planning on ordering cocktails but the off putting staff upon arrival didn't make us feel like this was a fun atmosphere to enjoy a nice drink in. One person ordered only one drink because no one wants to have to go wait in line in the middle of your dinner to get another drink. No thanks - Lots of alcohol revenue lost with this kind of model. They will need the support of the surrounding neighborhoods because just the university students won't be able to keep this place a float with the prices they charge. For example our large basic two topping pizza by its self was $41. We also ordered 2 side salads and a calzone. Salads were premade not fresh with to go dressings on the side the caesar salad wasn't even mixed w/ the dressing like it should be. The calzone was ok not much filling and I noticed the pepperoni in the calzone is different than the more premium pepperoni on the pizza. Already cutting corners anywhere they can. You are expected to get your own drinks, plates and silverware all while they flash that tip screen at you when you order offering you to pay 20, 25 or 30% tip! They seemed to have plenty of staff with several people always coming by to ask if "everything is ok" but believe me you are not being served by a server, just staff walking around. A party of 2 came in about 25 minutes after we ordered & sat in the booth next to us. After about 5 min here comes a pie, and you guessed it, it was our pizza! After they started eating it they realized it wasn't the pizza they ordered and called for the guy to make sure. Of coarse I had to flag him down and ask if that was our pie and sure enough it was. So now we have to wait another 30 min for them to make our pie. It was weird how they fell all over the other table - gave them a free pizza and apologized up and down. No one ever came to our table and acknowledged the mistake or offered us anything for our wait. It's like they didn't understand which customers were actually put out. I understand mistakes can be made but the lack of acknowledgment or even awareness was frankly weird and off putting. We literally order pizza at least once a week but won't be returning here. Ordered pickup and wow just wow....kids Mac n cheese is literally just a bagged kraft Mac n cheese. Then, the kids chicken fingers were a joke and came with some tortilla chips fresh out of a bag stale. Kids menu needs a re-haul or simply use better products. I'm sure distributors have some basic chicken fingers and you serve Mac n cheese on your menu why don't you do a small version of that for the kids??? As far as pizza, the most disappointing experience ever at any Beau Jo's. Sauce was non-existent, cheese, toppings, everything completely cold like they cooked the crust and then added cold toppings. We ended up microwaving after a couple bites to try and get the cheese at least melted. Oven not hot enough? Didn't cook long enough? I do admit there was a good amount of toppings yet what does it matter if the damn pizza isn't hot and cooked??? Just a god awful experience all around. $75 worth of trash and just tossed it all away and made some sandwiches. I'll never order from this location again. This was so bad I'm contemplating even going to the Idaho springs location any longer. Get new kids menu and take pride in it. And for the love of god cook your pizzas and serve them hot. read more

My wife and I stopped in at Beau Jo's in Idaho Springs as we returned from the Rockies. We were pleased to find ample free parking behind the restaurant. we arrived shortly after 5 on a Friday evening and had a 15 minute wait (well worth it). Our server (Claudia) was attentive and helpful. My wife had a Margherita pizza and I had one with Canadian bacon, pineapple, and mushrooms. The pizzas arrived freshly cooked to order. They were both outstanding. The habanero honey on the crust pieces were a wonderful dessert. I hope to return there soon and highly recommend it! read more

Not my favorite Beau Jo's location. I've enjoyed Beau Jo's all over the state and this newest location seemed cold, sterile and cheaply constructed. I'm not a fan of ordering first at kiosk and then getting your own drinks, plates, silverware, to-go boxes, etc. I was expecting more of a full service restaurant, but here you order up front and then you do all the work. Meanwhile you're prompted to tip before your meal instead of after. The pizza was great, but the tables were dirty/sticky and the atmosphere was uninviting.
