Very disappointing dinner. We read reviews and were excited to try a new place in La Jolla. There is outdoor seating which is very loud, bar seating, and indoor seating booths and tables that can accommodate larger groups. There is a happy hour menu and a full menu. Service was prompt and friendly. Not a lot of craft beer selection, good wine selection. As you first walk in there is an odor that is hard to get past, almost like a dirty dish rag that wiped the tables down. Not sure what it was. The menus were really discussing, crusted food and stained. We opted for a few of the happy hour specials. The lettuce wraps were bland, the califlower "wings" were terrible, soggy, not warm, not a lot of "wing" sauce taste, and the yogurt dressing on the side was not really a good pairing. Shrimp Tacos were very small, and had two tiny shrimp to each one. They are served on a corn taco which was overpowering for the bland seasonings. I'm not normally one for hyperbole but drop whatever it is you are doing and go immediately to Beaumont's. Their brunch is amazing. The Relleno and eggs was amazing. One of the best things I've eaten in a while. Service is great. When we got here the kitchen was already backed up and they told that when we checked in. Fine, we weren't in a hurry. Watching the wait staff manage a clearly stressful day as well as they did was impressive. They stayed friendly and attentive the whole time. Who cares if the food took a little longer, it gave us time to enjoy their cocktails. Can't wait to return here. read more

How the heck have I lived in San Diego for 11.5 years, and La Jolla for 4, yet have never been to Beaumont's, let alone heard of it?! In my defense, even as a La Jolla resident, I don't generally spend a ton of time in Bird Rock. Albeit adorable, it's not the most convenient location to get to and there is very little in the way of business establishments in comparison to other coastal neighborhoods. I am quite the sucker for live music and as much as I absolutely love San Diego, I have always complained that we do not have enough live music outside of large concerts. I know I know, I could move to Nashville or Austin, but all of San Diego's other great qualities far outweigh our lack of live music, but I digress. I was invited to Beaumont's and while the company wasn't what I had hoped for, the ambiance and music exceeded my expectation. Apparently there are different themes each weekend and the Friday that I visited, it was 90's music, which could not have been any more perfect for me. Any 90's genre is my absolute favorite and I was thrilled that the band did end up playing songs from different genre's. They even played the F*R*I*E*N*D*S theme song, Lou Bega's Mambo No. 5, and The La's There She Goes, all of which are the epitome of the 90's and got the bar really pumped up. For being such a small place, the acoustics were really good and the band sounded wonderful. They were able to really change their technique to mimic each song's original style. Perhaps what I liked most about Beaumont's was the atmosphere. As aforementioned, Bird Rock is a little off the beaten path of the village of La Jolla, so it really did seem to be mostly locals. I'm not anti-tourist, I can't hate on them for wanting to enjoy the best city in the world(!!), but I do try to steer a little clear of the congestion and enjoy my fellow San Diegans. It's very possible that the theme of the night affects the population at the bar, but age ranged mostly between 27-45, which is generally my speed these days. I doubt Bird Rock is a big college kid destination when PB is right down the street, so I doubt it ever really gets crazy like that. The only negatives are parking and price. While I appreciate the lack of cover charge, the cocktails are a bit steep, but I suppose that's to be expected in La Jolla. They also have no designated parking lot that I noticed, so you have to get lucky with a curb spot. I also wouldn't recommend it as a first date spot. It's very loud, so there isn't going to be any detailed conversation going on. It's more a place to go dancing and enjoy some drinks, so wait until you're at the point where chatting the whole time isn't a necessity! I am definitely Beaumont's newest fan and will absolutely be back to enjoy some more music! read more

I absolutely love the new outdoor dining setup, which makes for great people watching! Such great service! We came to Beaumont's after the beach and had such a lovely time. We were freezing from being in the ocean and the workers made sure we had the warmest seat possible. They have a cute outdoor area with heaters, as well as a little patio with heaters too. Our waitress was so sweet! We came at 2:00 which meant the brunch menu was still serving. We got the breakfast burrito and 2 char burgers. The breakfast burrito was delicious and pretty big so she had leftovers. The salsa it came with was very good too. The char burger was delish and just what I needed after the beach! Pro tip: ask for the basil aioli instead of house aioli on the burger! I'll be back next time I'm in bird rock:) read more

After I settled in, I ordered one of their signature brunch items, the Pork Chile Relleno with Scrambled Eggs and a side of corn tortillas for $12. Arrived in La Jolla from Los Angeles for some brunch while heading down to San Diego. Ordered pancakes, bacon on the side and orange juice, been craving pancakes for a few days. The pancakes had bacon pieces that were ok but the side of bacon was a little better. Maybe it was my dish because i wouldn't drive here for this place. I had a unique (for me at least) experience here. At about 11:30 my son and I go into Beaumont's. A band was playing covers of 1970s rock and roll. The guitarist was doing a pretty darn good version of Eric Clapton on Layla. The crowd is mainly in their late 30s to late 40s. We make our way to the bar. My son's 21st birthday was July 4, which was fast approaching. Me: "Can my son get a drink in about 3 minutes?' Bartender: ? Me: "He turns 21 in 3 minutes." Bartender, after inspecting my son's driver's license: "Never been asked that before, but why not?" What a great way for my son to start his 21st birthday." Pretty good food! We enjoyed the happy hour prices so that was a bonus. We ordered 4 different appetizers and shared as a meal. The meatballs, buffalo cauliflower, brussel spots, and carnitas lettuce wraps were delicious! It was just the right amount of food and really great flavor. 3.5 stars We've been to Beaumont's a few times and have had pretty good experiences. The food has always been great. We've dined there for happy hour and have also gotten take out for breakfast and dinner. The last time we got takeout, we got the Coast Toast and ham Benedict. I actually ordered ahead of time over the phone and asked for the Beaumont Benedict. When I got there to pick up my order, they confirmed my order as the ham Benedict, but that didn't sound right to me. It turned out that they didn't have the Beaumont Benedict that day and I was told that it was just different ham. But, I knew the Beaumont Benedict was on a bacon cheddar biscuit and not an English muffin. Upon hearing that, the woman helping me went back to see if she could get me some biscuits to go. I waited for a bit, but another guy brought out biscuits and gravy for me to take home. I thought the woman initially helping me was going to have me pay for it, but when the guy brought out the biscuits she wasn't around. So, I could have just left, but I told one of the two girls standing at the front podium that I still needed to pay. I thought picking up would be a lot faster, but I was still pleased with the service. The staff was friendly and they also resolved the problem with my order. During happy hour, service can be a little slow, but I haven't experienced horrible service here as other yelpers have had. I do like that patio is dog friendly and that their happy hour is every day of the week. I'd definitely recommend Beaumont's for happy hour or take out. read more

I can't believe I have never visited before last night. I pick up my business mail next door. When we saw the outdoor setup recently, we made it a priority. The outdoor seating in the parking spaces is set up do nicely - spacious, fresh air, comfortable seating! We ordered a viking burger and a rigatoni bolognaise. Both were superb. Craving another bowl of rigatoni right now! Not too saucy at all. Just perfect. I also tried a new blackberry hard cider. Very tart, which is what i had ask for. read more

I wanted to try a new place for dinner and Beaumont's has been on my 'places to try' list for awhile now. Its in Bird Rock La Jolla. I actually had no idea where this was, even though I've been to La Jolla several times. So after driving through the familiar part of La Jolla we finally arrived at Beaumont's, where we were very warmly greeted and seated promptly. The ambiance of the place is exactly what my husband and I like. Dim lighting, not too loud, modern decor, with relaxing music playing in the background. My husband is always skeptical of trying new places, but once he saw the cheese board on the menu he quickly became upbeat about the place. We ended up ordering the cheese board, the mizo glazed salmon and the butter lettuce salad. The cheese board was everything you want in a cheese board. Different cheeses, cherry chutney, bread, nuts, greens and some oh so wonderful honeycomb. We both loved it, we immediately wondered why all cheese boards aren't like this. Everything on there tasted amazing, especially when combined together. My salad was good as well. The glazed pears tasted wonderful, along with the well dressed salad. My husband said his salmon was great. It was moist and well seasoned and that the rice on the dish was cooked perfectly and had lots of flavor. We both really enjoyed our dishes. My husband and I were won over by our first experience at Beaumont's. My husband gives this place 5 stars but as a rule I only give a place 5 stars if I've been there a few times and have had an exceptional time each time. My husband and I look forward to coming back here. So maybe this place will get bumped up to 5 stars. The only thing that sucks is that its in the farthest part of La Jolla for us. read more

I was on a trip to grab Birdrock Coffee nearby, and since it was around lunch time, I decided to stop by this place. Near Birdrock Coffee there aren't too many places to eat, unlike downtown La Jolla. So if you're thinking about walking along Birdrock, remember this and eat ahead! From the outside, I assumed this place was a restaurant that served normal meals, but be aware, that during breakfast/lunch what they serve is mostly breakfast-y foods. There was also around a 15-20 minute wait at around noon on Sunday. My friend and I decided to settle for the Norwegian Smoked Salmon and Bagel. Food-wise: It wasn't the best smoked salmon with bagel I've ever had, but not the worst. I also ordered an iced mocha drink, but that was weirdly lukewarm and watery...Overall, this place is okay...if you're hungry... We came here for restaurant week dinner with was $30 for 3 courses. Food: for the first course I got the cauliflower gratin which was my favorite from the three courses. It has a nice crunch from the breadcrumbs. If you like Mac and cheese, this is kind of similar. Second course, I got the steak. The steak was really bland and barely seasoned. The mashed purée underneath was really good though. For dessert, I had the chocolate cake. It was good, but nothing too special. They had graham crumbles on it which was a nice touch. Service: pretty poor which is why my review is 3 stars. Everything came out super slow. As much as I have lower expectations because of restaurant week, it still took way too long for the food to come out. Even our drinks took awhile and refills on water too. Our main entree took about 40 mins and the floor wasn't event that busy. Also to note, my friend got a wine and there was a bug in it. First time here for a friend's going away party. We arrived at 7pm, had some appetizers and drinks. Cauliflower and artichoke were ok at best. At 9pm a band came on to play. Music was not stellar. Anyway my big complaint is that no matter when you showed up, hours before the band or 30 min before the place closed, you were charged a $10 cover charge. Everybody in the bar was charged $10 which I doubt went to the band. Also, cauliflower, artichoke 3 rum and Cokes, cover charge runs you nearly $80. read more

My friends and I rented a house in La Jolla this weekend for Bret H. and FeiFei J.'s bachelor/bachelorette weekend. There were ten of us, plus a baby, and we needed a place to get some Saturday brunch. I was worried about how we might manage this, but it ended up being a non-issue. I called Beaumont's, and they said they could have a table ready for us within half an hour. We walked over, and got seated as promised. The place was charming, a nice beach town restaurant with a prominent bar and an open, airy feel. Service was pleasant and mostly on point. One of our drinks came pretty late, but we were a large party, so that doesn't seem like a huge sin. We were well taken care of, and had a lovely time. I ordered a Bacon Love & Tomato Mary and the mahi tacos for my lunch. The bloody mary was great, thick and decently spicy, finished with two strips of applewood smoked bacon and a couple of olives. I was less into my food, unfortunately. The fish was reasonably well cooked, grilled, I'm guessing, seasoned with a house rub and served on tortilla rounds with a cabbage and radish slaw. Tomatillo-avocado and guajillo salsas came on the side, as did a sizable portion of rice and black beans. It was all just pretty bland, and the tortillas completely fell apart when I tried to eat the tacos with my hands. Cholula saved the day, as it sometimes does, but I wouldn't get these again. That said, the tacos weren't tragic, and my husband rather liked his cheeseburger. I have no regrets about our visit to Beaumont's. We had fun in a friendly, relaxing environment. I'd recommend this place if you're looking for a drink or a bite in La Jolla, especially if you're rolling ten deep. read more

What an average date night out. My husband & I are in town from the East Bay & based on the reviews and it's location to our AirBNB, we thought it would be a great place to eat. We were wrong! We sat outside, on the front patio, which is also close to where people like to smoke so we smelled that during our dinner... The waitress was slow! While we weren't in any rush, it's one thing to be slow & another to have good service. She was slow! Once our food finally came, it was filled with salt. This restaurant is just So so , My husband and I were walking through the village of Bird rock and noticed a sign they were having live music Thursday evening . So we stopped in that afternoon at around 3:30 PM to reserve a table for 7:15 PM. When we got there later on , our table had been given away . We were kind of bummed about that. The food is always on point. I always go for brunch and unlike other places on the same street it's never too busy. The staff is fantastic, personable, and always welcoming. My husband and I had dinner there after a round of golf in Carlsbad 2 days ago. We decided to go on the adventure to find this restaurant in Birdrock. We went there because it was considered a local place and being from Eady coast , we wanted to check it out. We were greeted graciously and the experience went up from there. The server, Roselle was wonderful as well as the guy in the pink shirt who simply came over to greet us. The food was delicious. Both the flank steak and salmon were excellent and the cauliflower fried rice was incredible. We will head back to Atlanta with Beaumont as a place we will certainly come back to enjoy again.
