I haven't been to Becks Prime in years because in the past the burgers were small and not very tasty and had a big price tag comparably. I placed an order online for my group and I was so pleasantly surprised!!! The burgers are good sized now, the buns were soft and held up well! My party had the Shroom burger, the Bleu burger and Bill's burger. All the burgers were supposed to be cooked medium, but they were quite medium rare, but that was okay by me. Oh My God. They have done the most evil thing to me possible. Opened my FAVORITE burger place (to date) right down the street. I've been coast to coast eating burgers everywhere...even in Hawaii, but these beef burgers are the best. They have other plates like steak, ahi or chicken but I'm a burger man through and through (medium by the way). You order at a counter and they give you a buzzer to pick up your order. The drinks are self serve unless you get alcohol. The place is clean and there is ample parking. Other than that, what else do you need to know...oh yeah, they have the most awesome GRILLED, not fried, burgers. Hot tip if you're pressed for time? Okay so I have purposely avoided Beck's Prime because I was certain it must be all hype. I thought this because it was a chain and because they are EVERY where. Well sometimes places become chains because they are delicious. Beck's is proof of that. The only thing about Beck's that is fast-food is the fact that you actually get it fairly fast (less than 10 minutes). When my food came out, I was seriously looking around trying to figure out where that delicious smell was coming from. It was the kind of smell you can only smell while outside on your back patio and you realize someone, somewhere is grilling something delicious and you want it. The only difference here is that delicious smelling thing was the burger sitting on my plate. The patties are plump and juicy and the cheddar was high quality, melted as a delicious glue between the bun and bread. The condiments were messy and the bun sort of started to fall apart about half way through, but I didn't care. I got to the point at the end that I was just sort of pulling pieces of it off and eating little bites (it's huge!). The sweet potato fries were also great. They were perfectly crisp, fresh, and sweet. I put ketchup on my plate but I didn't end up using it because the fries were so good without it. The only thing to know about Beck's prime is that it is not an every day fast food priced place. I went by myself on my school lunch break and only had a bit of time, so I just went here. I didn't realize that they don't have combos so I had to order a burger, fries and a drink separately. It ended up being $14.50 or so for just my food. It's worth the cost for quality of the food, it's just not "fast food" pricing. read more

Despite the fact that Beck's is a chain (albeit a local one), it has some impressive chow. I got the veggie burger - yes, it absolutely seems like the wrong thing to get here - and was in heaven! Shockingly, I think it was even better than the last burger I had there. And that was pretty darn good. Milkshakes are also creamy, thick, and worth every calorie. I'm waiting patiently until my neck of the woods becomes the next EaDo or something.........waiting...........patiently. Becks Prime works for me when I need a good healthy salad. The Mediterranean Salad w/ Ahi Tuna is where it's at. Their balsamic dressing is good and they give you a good portion of decent grade tuna. It's also a place I can be healthy while my teenager can still get a good juicy burger w/ very tasty sweet potato fries. The flow of the place is a bit odd since the restrooms are placed smack in the middle of the joint, with customers often cutting in line by accident. Great food here. I've been a BP fan since childhood, and I doubt they will ever fall out of my good graces. Their whole menu is fantastic. I love the ribeye sandwiches, but my current favorite thing to order here is the Queen of Hearts salad, topped with grilled ahi tuna. I get mine medium rare and then top it all with a couple splashes of their delicious vinaigrette. Their sweet potato fries ain't bad either. It's a little funny to read previous reviews and see people mentioning "the hype". Beck's Prime is hyped? Maybe I'm just out of the loop on that one. I just know that they've been around a long time, despite opening new locations here and there. The Kirby location has been open since the 80's, when my Mom lived in the Medical Center. The menu has changed a lot over the years but you still get burgers, fries, hot dogs, and steaks. Pricey? This ain't McDonald's! I came here for dinner on a Monday evening and dined in. The location had maybe 4 tables with patrons. The counter service was mediocre at best and I don't feel like we were greeted warmly (this is saying a lot considering I'm from the NYC area and my standards for a warm greeting aren't the highest). While the food came out as ordered - it resulted in me suffering from food poisoning. It was the first meal I had of the day so Becks Prime was the only possible culprit of the food poisoning. Sadly after what I thought was a decent meal, I spent my evening yelling in agony 'Do you think it was the Guacamole?' from behind a closed bathroom door. While the flavor of the food was okay. I am extremely hesitant to go back and/or try another Becks Prime location. Continually, I thought the burger was expensive for the quality and taste. It's two hot dogs, sliced in half and put on a hamburger bun. It looks like a child's Halloween project. We asked if they had traditional hot dog buns, which is obviously asking a lot for a place that specializes in hot dogs, and they regrettably did not. When we ordered our main meal, we ordered additional food for a To Go order. They said they would hold off and make it in 20 minutes for us. Thirty minutes rolled around and we checked on our To Go order. They had no clue what we were talking about and the "manager" looked around the kitchen (without verbally responding or acknowledging) as though it may have been misplaced under a kitchen utensil. We proceeded to wait another ten minutes and nothing. We checked again and they still had no clue what we were talking about. Insane. No apology, just "can I help you?" I didn't even have high hopes here. A friend and I stopped in to grab a late dinner to-go, and boy was I pissed off one bite into my meal. Walking in 20 minutes before closing time is generally a tad inconsiderate, but I could care less this time. They have a friggen drive through at the Kirby location, so I figured it was "fast" enough. I walk up to the counter and politely/pleasantly asked if it was too late knowing full well that it wasn't. The girl behind the counter muttered out an irritated "uh, it's fine." I apologized for coming in so late... wait, what? I actually apologized for giving them my money? Oops. The worst part is the manager was present. I order a bacon cheeseburger. This is so simple an item that just about every red-blooded American household cooks up every July 4th, or even whenever there's a free 15 minutes. It can't go wrong, right? My friend orders a 4 cheese sandwich. We get our bags after 10 minutes of watching the cashier pretend to work by stacking ketchup packets one at a time. I open the box to my burger immediately after IN THE CAR, and it is cold. Lettuce shreds are falling out everywhere, and the cheese isn't melted. It was like I just ordered from McDonalds and it was made 4 hours ago. Oh well, I will withhold judgment until I get home. Upon arriving home 10 minuets later, I reach in and grab the box. WOW! The box is actually COLDER than room temperature. I put it in the microwave while cursing myself for spending a whopping $11 on a cheap burger (with NO fries, NO drink, NOTHING extra) that I had to heat myself after only 10 minutes. I take my first bite, and utter disappointment floods through my blood. It is drenched in a disgusting overpowering yellow generic mustard, and all the flavors are mushed together with no distinction between bread, condiments, beef, or bacon due to the immense grease soaking into everything. Upon lifting up the top bun to inspect the ingredients, I found all the pathetic bacon strips shoved onto one half of the burger. I never leave a burger unfinished, but I could barely stomach this. It was horrible, and I was so upset that I just got ripped off for such a joke of a meal. What is all the hype about? Trash food. My friend's "4 cheese sandwich" was smaller and flatter than a frozen Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich. It was genuinely pathetic - I would have demanded a refund. Beck's Prime cannot be serious. My dining experience here was clearly a joke and an insult to my hard earned money, time, and taste. I would seriously trade my $11 Beck's Prime burger for a $1 "Buck Double" at Burger King. This is our go-to for a quick burger date. Is it the best burger I've had? Definitely not. But the price and quality at a Beck's Prime is a strong one-two combo. Regarding that, avoid ordering the regular size burgers and try going with the Kids Build-A-Burger. I know, most of you are raising your eyebrows at me. But consider this. The patty on the kids burger is the same quality, just smaller. You also get fries and a drink for a meal that's under $10. To get the same Burger/Fries/Drink with regular adult size food we're talking well into $15 territory. Consider yourself educated. I had a craving for a hotdog. So I went to Becks Prime. My visit was in a word, confusing. First, the name made me believe it was a steak house, you know "prime". Second, the decor is something in between a sit down restaurant and a fast food joint. Third, they have a drive thru but no pick up window. Anyway, I ordered a chili cheese dog. When i picked it up at the counter, I almost sent it back because it is served on a hamburger bun. It was actually two hotdogs split and cooked on the flat top. The chili was thin but tasty. And i feel the bun was a little too dense. To continue the confusion theme, the menu has an array of seemingly mismatched items. Most curious are the "plated classics" which seem to be a version of their sandwiches minus the bun. Returned to Becks Prime (not in the best mood) and the manager handled the mess up EXTREMELY well. Left a little while later with our correct order as a please customer and a new appreciation for Becks Prime. The manager on duty should be acknowledged for the job and customer service he delivered. We had a lovely family lunch here with my parents and niece. The staff was friendly, had no trouble managing a complex order, and checked in to make sure we were enjoying the food. My parents felt their burgers were a little rarer than they preferred, and the manager was happy to cook them longer to their taste. They also have the best shakes in town. I have watched the prices rise over time, but for a special lunch or dinner I would go. They just had another price bump. Ok . Chicken sand, sweet potato fries, then drink. Love the shakes - dessert size $3, but now we are talking $25 for 1. Is this a place for counter service we will be going to? I am afraid not. This place offers a variety of tasty burgers, salads and more. Their food is fantastic. It's a bit pricey but it's worth it. I have never had bad service. In fact, if there is a complaint, they will correct it and serve you a new plate. (My niece forgot to say she wanted her Burger to be well done, and they fixed a new one for her. I thought that was very sweet). Two of their mistakes are their lack of publicity and old fashion environment. I have introduced this place to so many people that have lived in Houston longer than me, but never knew of its existence. That tells me something.
