I am a white wine connoisseur because of my dietary restrictions with most ingredients in red wines, especially cherries and plum, that trigger my stomach pain and headaches. I have missed enjoying red wine because of this. I was hoping and praying that when my friends who are members of PEJU planned this wine tasting treat, that my stomach and head would be fine and to my surprise, my palate, tongue, stomach and heart were pleased with the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Fifty/Fifty, and more, including reserve reds Todd served and educated us about! I have NEVER enjoyed red wines like these I tasted at PEJU. Since the time of our outstanding wine tasting experience, I have recommended and raved about Todd and PEJU winery to friends and family who appreciate and value high quality wines and winery experiences. It felt like a vacation getaway being in the tasting room building, admiring the breathtaking stained glass art, all of the art inside and the beautiful art and nature views outside. I appreciate the PEJU staff and management team who welcomed us and were kind to us all the way to the end of our wine tasting experience when we left. This is the kind of treatment that makes us want to return. Napa is a special place for friends, family, and me, and PEJU is now an indelible memory in my Napa adventures! Todd clearly enjoys his important professional position, is passionate about wine and the wine experience, and brings so much joy to customers! I can't recommend him and PEJU enough! Todd went above and beyond to give us a VIP experience and even gave me a bag full of wine corks for my art project after I told him about this and asked for some of their wine corks we saw lined up in their wine uncorking and pouring area. The grounds are gorgeous inside and out, and I really enjoyed the stained glass, large open windows, and the statues and the koi pond area outside. The service was extraordinary, and I had a great time learning a bit about the different wines PEJU offers from Joseph. I tried quite a few different wines, and really liked how there are a few unique offerings here that you can't find elsewhere - I ended up getting a bottle of their Province, the Farm, and their late harvest orange muscat. PEJU is also one of the few wineries with a permit to serve food. If I had known ahead of time, I would've planned to eat here! The rilettes were super tempting, but Joseph advised that if I was planning to eat a meal afterward to stick to the chips and dip - this ended up being quite a generous portion as well, and I really enjoyed the goat cheese truffle dip alongside the wine tasting :) Overall, PEJU is definitely a beautiful winery to visit with excellent service, and I'll definitely be back!

We each chose different tasting flights so we could try a wider variety of wines, and Mike did a fantastic job walking us through everything. He was knowledgeable, welcoming, and made the tasting feel relaxed and personalized rather than rushed. During our conversation, I mentioned that I had never done a barrel tasting before, and Mike surprised me by arranging one for us on the spot. It was such a memorable touch and easily one of the highlights of our trip.

They've only been there for a year I believe, but from the outside to the inside, everything is purposely selected and placed. And the bathroom! Yes you read that right, the bathroom is impressive. Probably what stuck out to me the most was the wine glasses used for the flight tasting. These glasses are exquisite. While I don't remember the exact dollar figure, they use German glassware that was 100 a pop, and each glass was selected based on enhancing which wine was being tasted. The first glass on the left was what we started with, which was a white, and as you go toward the right you transition into the bulbous fishbowl type glassware typically used to drink reds. The flight tasting was 75 which is pricey, and their flagship red is quite expensive in my opinion. However, you like what you like and if you enjoy it then it's meant for you. This is a great place and I'll most definitely visit again when I'm back in Napa.

The standout is the George III that they cannot put on the label as such but it is silky, luxurious and well balanced. The cheese plate is amazing and very generous portion. Met the owner Matthew that tells us all about his passion project of building the tasting room (as you can imagine with Napa's rules it took years to execute).

Next time we'll make sure to ask for an inside spot, where we usually are! Definitely go and enjoy our favorites like Dollarhide Elevation, Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon, and Elu in the reds (ask if they have any RU3 to taste, too!!) and the Dollarhide Sauvignon Blanc or Rose for white wine drinkers.

We were then greeted with a staff member, who showed us some history of the Cakebread family and property, and then we made our way to the eating/tasting area. The food was lovely and paired so well with each of the wines. Their white wines were fantastic. The food was good as well~ lots of different flavors. THey're smaller bites, so don't expect to get incredibly full to bursting or anything. LOL! After finishing our food and wine, we went to the little kitchen area, chatted with the staff there, and then went on a tour of the winery, the barrels, garden etc.. This time I arrived shortly after opening at 9:30am Andrew approached me and I asked him some Questions about the single vineyard zins. He asked if I had time to do a little tasting and I enthusiastically said yes. It's kind of unbelievable a big commercial winery would even do this. Kudos to Andrew. I ended up buying 7 bottles and he even tossed in a deck of Caymus branded playing cards. Very cool. Of all the big wineries Caymus is the best.

The wines are truly exquisite--bold, unique, and always something we look forward to sharing together. Every visit feels elevated, and a big part of that is the incredible staff. Natalia, our hostess and educator, is absolutely amazing. She brings great energy, deep knowledge, and makes each tasting feel personal and memorable. The only downside from our most recent visit was learning that the complimentary cheese plate is no longer automatically offered to members of certain tiers. That was a small touch that really set The Prisoner apart from other wineries and made the experience feel even more special. It was something we genuinely looked forward to every time. We still love everything about The Prisoner and will continue to visit and support, but we do hope they reconsider bringing that perk back--it made a great experience even better.

First, they surprised me with my mom flying in from the east coast. Totally got me. Then the next day my aunt fly in and the surprised me again!!! Then they got me in the car not knowing where I was going and took me to an incredible Airbnb vineyard where we stayed the night. Such a great surprise. They told me that was the end of the surprises. Then this morning we got up and came here bc I love the bubbles so much and we are celebrating. Then.... Oh boy. There actually was ANOTHER SURPRISE. His name is Connor. He is an impeccable connoisseur of curating amazing vibes and brings more bright shimmering joy + celebrator energy than the finest bottle of bubbles. Easy to find, beautiful from the road in, and exactly what you picture when you think Napa. The whites and reds are all worth trying. Each one tastes distinct, and the flagship bottles run $44 to $125, so not cheap, but fair for wines this good. Membership is the real draw. Members get full tastings plus a food menu for themselves and two guests, which we lean on every time we pick up wine. The grounds are stunning. Plenty of tables across the property, including quiet, secluded spots for a real conversation. The member experience runs about 1.5 hours, which is plenty. The food held up too. Tomato arancini with basil aioli, bruschetta, roasted olives, marcona almonds, hummus with crispy pita, sourdough with oil and balsamic. The arancini was the best bite of the spread, crisp outside, creamy in the middle, with the basil aioli pulling it together. Staff have been friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful on every visit. A few notes: tastings cap around 6 to 8 per party, specialty experiences like the Cambium vertical are discounted for members rather than free, and your membership carries over to their sister property, St. Francis in Sonoma. Plenty of parking and EV charging. Go as a member if possible.
