No complaints about the food but the overall experience just doesn't cut it. The owner / Head chef Roxanne is openly abusive to her employees. Clapping hands and belittling them whilst they are simply trying to accomodate her customers is unprofessional, uncomfortable and unacceptable to witness. We called ahead to reconfirm and were told by a very friendly hostess that the owners do not allow stollers. Also we were booked at the same time as friends but were told by Roxanne in a very rude manner that tables could not simply be moved together to accomodate us. this had absolutely nothing to do with covid just her own unwillingness to accommodate. The kitchen is also unwilling to accommodate any changes whatsoever to simple requests like swapping sides. Overall an unpleasant experience not worth however good the food is. read more

Have been a feisty regular here for the past 8 years. They haven't 86'd me yet ...nor have they even come close. I rate it 5***** b/c it alone is the decently fine restaurant serving breakfast from 9:00am, though lunch too is one of their undertakings. The service is typical of the environment in which we now live. It's helpful if you're willing to speak Spango!!! I am not willing ...unless it pleases me to do so. Still, even the most Anglophile amongst us will be perfectly afforded. The food can be delicious ...the service can be adequate. The meat is superb in quality ...the chefs have a way of revolving (changing) so consistency may be challenged from time to time. In nice weather, if not crowded (it often is not) head swiftly to the patio and wait for service. That saves lots of time and sets the tone of that "a serious diner" is here. No need to be too chatty or chummy with the waitstaff ...they are as much part of the problem as the solution. Just be polite, cordial, brief, and articulate in your expectations and preferences. Quickly bring to their attention anything that deserves improvement or change. Tip accordingly ... JohnBoy's presence at the establishment (upstairs for dinners too) makes a great difference in a #LocalHomeBoy sort of way. If he's on site (usually weekends only) look for the cherubic rotund fellow in a white apron and worn baseball cap ...generally engaged smilingly with someone (a local) whom he recognizes and can be seen moving about knowingly. He's famous in his own right too ... see him, the starring/namesake role, in The Bullish Farmer (John Ubaldo, formerly of Wall Street) ...by Filmmaker Ken Marsolais to get the real (current) story of the meat side of the resturant. This was our first time here. Rainy, cold, dreary day and we were welcomed by a real wood fire going and very friendIy staff. Sat near the fireplace and ordered a delicious breakfast. I had French toast with caramelized bananas and pecans and my husband had the French omelet. We shared and enjoyed both immensely. Awful experience. Seating was at a table next to a wood pile, tarp, stacked umbrella and patio heaters. Aldo, there was the hum of air conditioner for ambience. No one from the hostess to the two "managers" was willing to provide any options when I asked for a diff ET table. Nothing we can do." That's it. Very disappointing for at least a few reasons relating to food preparation and service. We reserved for a 2pm Saturday lunch. There were 4 servers hanging out in the bar area, 2 hosts at the front and our server. They weren't busy during our visit; there was one four top and 2 three tops finishing their meals. We ordered the larger seafood tower and I had to wave someone down to get bowls for the shells after 15 minutes of trying to maneuver shells and tiny bread plates to accommodate this first course. Luckily the table next to us was unoccupied so since the 4 servers and 2 hosts within 5 feet of our table were too busy socializing and being engaged with their phones, we were able to stack our dishes there. We ordered the "baguette" for the table which was hilarious. This item, under the heading, " For the Table" arrived as an over baked 2 inch wide, 4 inch long bread. The burger we ordered rare, was actually raw inside; not red, not cooked, but cold, raw meat and the bun was burnt on the inside ( it's so laborious to grill or toast another roll rather serve a burnt one?) and untoasted on the outside. The strawberry rhubarb tart sounded promising and was styled beautifully, but tasted like it was in the  refrigerator a day too long; any buttery, berry ee flavor was masked by that metallic refrigerator flavor. Maybe this was tasty and fresh yesterday. I chose this restaurant because it's in bucolic Bedford, NY won a Michelin star last year, and it was my best friend's birthday. We will never return and I'll be sad and embarrassed for them because their price point does not match the lack of attention to details. What a waste of time. That entire staff needs a field trip down to Gage and Tollner to see what best practice in food preparation and service is all about. read more

As a local resident, I do my best to support local restaurants, and always give them the benefit of the doubt when food is mediocre or service is slow, but I can't give the benefit of the doubt when service is rude and obnoxious. Unfortunately the manager at the barn is rude and obnoxious, and has no particular edge that should allow him to be that way. The food is mediocre and the service is slow, so the restaurant should try a little more humility or it will lose the few customers is still Has. This is in reference to Executive Chef Roxanne Spruance - Despite abruptly leaving the state due to the sudden closure of her previous failed restaurant, while knowingly withholding funds and paychecks she still owes her former employees, then proceeding to block those employees and their family members on social media who are attempting to contact her to obtain those lost wages, I was able to find her current business endeavor due to her "star chef" celebrity reputation. Its a shame that someone who has accomplished such a high level of success in her own career conducts her businesses in this highly unprofessional manner. Roxanne Spruance has deliberately and knowingly been withholding money from her former employee for over two years and has made it nearly impossible for her to be contacted or for the employee to retrieve their lost wages. Im sure she wouldn't appreciate this being done to her, as would anyone else. I hope that she understands how unethical and deceitful this behavior is and right her wrong. read more

I was impressed with the chef and the food. Everything we ordered was delicious and unique. Our server was especially friendly. Please note that the current ownership is NOT honoring gift cards from the previous restaurant even if the gift card is less than a year old. This policy should be posted on the website to alert individuals who are making the trip there for this reason. Although there is no requirement to accept these, most restaurant owners I have asked about this matter have stated they believe it's appropriate to accept them as not to risk alienating new clients. I have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years as I live less than a mile. I've always had a wonderful experience and I've always felt welcomed. The food has consistently been excellent. Yay went during covid too. Very recently it has changed hands and our experience was very disappointing. I went with my family and the service was not what I expected. The feeling is very corporate I'm not inviting.The manager made no attempt to ensure we enjoyed our lunch. We wanted to sit outside and there were at least half empty tables and they would not seat us. He was very dis-interested in seeing that our needs were accommodating. Again not what we've been used to there.They no longer have any gluten-free options. They know longer do any substitutions. It was a real disappointment and a real loss for the neighborhood and the community. This is a small local enclave and the service should really reflect that. They should aim to please especially at these prices. read more

Almost missed entrance. Quiet setting but food surprises. Good service. One complaint is that menu is only accessed via QR Code and we were sitting in a corner with poor wi-fi and cell connectivity. The hostess was adorable & the staff is nice but not trained and every time I go there the kitchen gets the order messed up. Went here for a birthday dinner for my 20 year old daughter. Appetizers good, but octopus portion was 1/4 of what you'd get at most fine dining restaurants. Ordered Fried Chicken which came cut in "chicken nugget" boneless small portions with zero seasoning, bland and tasteless, paired with fried pickles and no other vegetables. When we complained and said we felt like this was a meal fit for an 8-year old, the manager, rather than being apologetic, defended the chef's preparation. Given a new meal of shrimp/clams, the food quality was great but again under-seasoned. Ran out of water, waited 20 minutes for someone to notice, eventually had to flag down an inattentive busboy (waiter M.I.A.) and beg for it. Got the bill and, despite having turned back two chicken meals (kept one's leftover's for my son who was home), I was really disappointed that the manager didn't comp at the very least one of them, so we paid $50 for 6 dry, tasteless chunks of chicken and 8 fried pickles. Complained to waiter with manager in earshot, and he just shrugged that he was sorry, and neither took action to correct it. Penny-wise, dollar foolish management decision: Not only will I never go back, this frequent fine diner with many friends will actively discourage others from going there, and write reviews like this. Went there for a meal, the host was rude, waited for over half an hour after or order was taken. Food came out like warm. Front staff was great! Menu was very limited, asked for bread, was linformed by the waiter that the bakery they use was closed due to covid. Hmmm. Odd there only one bakery in the area that can supply bread to meet this resturants standards. Be conscious where you park in the parking lot. Smells of garbage. Service/Staff were 10/10. Every single staff member was thoughtful and kind and we were checked on often. The food was slightly disappointing to be honest (another reviewer mentioned "weird sauces" and I have to say I completely agree). So many of the dishes were creative, but not thought through. Most every dish had a brilliant idea behind it, but had some type of offputting ingredient, sauce or flavor. Our meal consisted of: -Blooming Onion: Done well, but included a significant pepper-y flavor and gobs of what seemed to be similar to nacho cheese sauce dolloped on. Just made it really strange to eat and they're fried better at a Chili's - half of it was raw-ish onion which was inedible. - Steak Tartare: Typically it's hard not to love this dish but this version had a strange and strong thousand island sourness to it that was off. - Cod Beignets: The Beignets themselves were lovely - more like a large croquette really. But the dipping sauce was really disappointing. It was essentially vinegar flavored slop. It was so acidic and tangy that it ruined each bite. I honestly would have rathered ketchup. - Mushroom Linguine: We thought this would be a slam dunk but it was incredibly underseasoned, had to ask for salt which is a bad sign, and it had this hint of nutmeg-like sweetness that didn't really work. - Cod Entree: This was some of the most delicately cooked cod I have ever had - cooked to perfection. The chutney that came with it was okay but had bits of pomegranite in it that on its own would have worked, but in addition to the pickled vegetables also included, it was just a strange, tangy mess. The chef appears to be trying to take chances and get creative but they're just poorly executed with flavor profiles that simply don't work. Cocktails were lovely with the exception of the one with red wine/vodka. Almost half the cocktail is comprised of red wine, versus what I thought would be just a splash. It takes over the entire cocktail flavor and essentially makes you feel like you're sipping red wine out of a straw. A bit of portion updates could fix this issue easily. Again, the service was incredible and you can tell everyone is trying their best in some of the toughest conditions so my hat is off to them. But the food really doesn't live up to the price at this point. read more

I almost never write bad reviews but the lack of service and care we received was at best lackluster and at worst downright dismissive. We made a brunch reservation for my husband's birthday and the only table available was outside. We were prepared to sit outside but When we arrived 50% of the tables inside were empty. When we inquired about an inside table we were told they couldn't accommodate us - no apology or consideration. We were the only family sitting outside and service was slow and brusque. Everything we asked for felt like we were inconveniencing them. The tea came but the teacups didn't arrive with them. They didn't want to turn on an extra heater. No one checked on us or asked us if we needed anything. The food was good but the service was atrocious. When we finally left, there were still at least 3 or 4 tables open inside. When we asked again - the hostess just replied rudely - it takes two hours to turn a table. So that's pretty much it for us at The Bedford Post Inn. read more

We went there for a dinner with my wife and everything was fine I even called a friend and talked so highly of the atmosphere and we were welcomed so nicely our waiter was a young tall polite guy. He helped us with our cocktails and they were delicious. It was a windy day and they experienced power failure and to our surprise the restaurant and the inn did not have generator and we were still happy to have a candle light dinner after 1hour and twenty minutes my wifes food which was french fries and veggie burger never arrived altough I finished my food which was a disaster as I ordered oysters and 3 of them were almost empty shells... I called the waiter and asked him to serve my wifes food and I ve been told that it wasn't coming yet and meanwhile a red haired lady came out and started yelling ''well I cannot control the water'' Naturally I was expecting apologies and I asked her how could she shout at me and what is water got to do with french fries and veggie burger and when she carried on yelling I naturally started reacting and she yelled get out of my restaurant. I really and genuinly do not believe she was the owner as anybody in her caliber cannot own a restaurant she was probably the dish washer since she kept going on about the water shortage. We went for Father's Day brunch, and the experience was not a great one. The service was horrible. We sat at the table for 10 minutes with no one coming to our table and had to flag down one of the three hostesses to ask for a waiter to come. After he took our order, we didn't see him again until the end of the meal when again we had to find someone to get him to bring us our check. No one came by to see how our food was or if we needed anything else. Then he asked my husband to put in the tip amount before he even ran the card. So bizarre. The only reason they're getting a 2nd star is because my husband's eggs Benedict was good, and my daughter's French toast was good. My avocado toast was nothing more than sliced avocado on top of toast with a few sliced radishes. Not impressive. For such a high-end place (heck, for even a cheap place), I expected WAY more in terms of service. read more

The Barn opens at 9am. Not too many nice restaurants in the area open that early. Great place for breakfast or brunch. A big variety of selections and all of them are delicious. The bakery there is super awesome. Good atmosphere and great service as well. read more
