I was in the Bellaire part of Bellaire Blvd. And did a quick search for dumplings near me. Which is how I ended up here. What I call the "Pollo Campero" part of Bellaire Blvd. Used to live off of Chimney Rock so this was my old stomping grounds. Still come here for the interesting Ethiopian restaurants. And the spectacular Maria's All Natural Yogurt is in this same strip center. Anyway. On to dumplings. Pan fried dumplings aka pot stickers. I was very pleased with the quality of these. I'd come back. I want to try a noodle dish or two. But I'll also look forward to their soup dumplings. However....... Only disconcerting thing was that the TV was tuned to Fox News. That bothered me since that company has done so much harm, with their rage-baiting and distortions of the facts. Because of that, it may be difficult for me to patronize them as I would be reminded of how much harm Fox News and Trump have done to our country and democracy. I can't eat at a place that believes in and supports Fox News.

Based on other reviews, my theory is that different cooks season differently here. Almost all of the food I ordered was very bland, which some reviews also mention. On the other hand, there are reviews that say the food is flavorful! I guess it just depends on if you're lucky on your visit, but I'm not willing to risk another bland meal. I encourage the owner to check to make sure the cooks are seasoning well and consistently, because when they do, customers rave about the place. I wish I could've been one of those customers. I went on May 16th at 5pm and whoever was seasoning that day really needs to add more flavor to the dishes. I really wanted to like this place, and I thought it had a lot of potential, but unless I stop seeing reviews mentioning issues with flavor, I won't be coming back. On the bright side, we had no issues with service and the restaurant seemed clean. The utensils and sauces were well-stocked on our table. It wasn't busy at all on a Saturday at 5pm. Portions and prices were good. The food also came out in about 15-20mins. CHICKEN SOUP DUMPLINGS: Not very flavorful, unfortunately. Most of the flavor came from the sauce I dipped it into. Good skin on the dumplings though. BEEF ROLL: There's hoisin sauce inside. Kinda reminded me of Peking duck because of that. Delicious! Good portions and ratio! Actually a really good dish! No issues with flavor on this one. Highly recommend! BLACK PEPPER BEEF UDON: Tasted bland except for pepper flavor, which I found odd. Like, the *only* flavor was heavy black pepper. Too pepper-y with no other flavors to balance it. Great texture on the noodles and moist beef though. Would be fantastic if they fixed the seasoning. BEEF GREEN ONION POTSTICKERS: Not bad. Flavor wasn't an issue, but I would've liked the dough to be thinner or more cooked. That's just preference though. I don't like dough-y dumplings. My partner liked it though. SHANGHAI STYLE SCALLION OIL NOODLE (w/ beef +$3): The dish doesn't come with a protein but they allowed us to add beef for $3. The beef was super tender, but bland. The whole thing was bland, unfortunately. The noodles looked like a spaghetti noodle.

The beef and green onion pot stickers were amazing. Each table has an assortment of sauces, vinegar, soy sauce and chili sauce. My wife and i shared a large bowl of wonton soup with 10 wontons. We also enjoyed some fried cheese wontons/crab puffs. Very good food and friendly people....we'll be back.

Photos for reframe of the orange chicken, cucumber salad, soup dumplings and sides. Overall, customer service was pleasing and portions were big. Could the food use a little more flavor, yes.

Came here with the family and they loved the food. The soup dumplings were really good here too. Food was hot and delicious!

I really tried to like this place but I haven't been this underwhelmed in a VERY long time SADLY. Let's start with my first dish, the Mongolian Beef, or more so the Mongolian Veggie platter as this meal was 75% onions and veggies, 20% beef, and 5% sauce. It gets a score of a 4/10! Next was the Eight Piece Pork Soup Dumplings, these were decent. I've definitely had much better. The dough was super thin and the soup was lackluster in both taste and amount inside the bun. Very disappointing and earns a 5/10 score. Lastly we had the orange chicken. It was lackluster and was just a filler. 5/10. Overall, this place is not worth the drive and I most likely wouldn't recommend.

New spot for us. Went with friends. No fountain drinks. Offers coke products in cans. They offer pick up as there were several people coming in for their orders. Service was fast. Food was wonderful. We tried the soup dumplings and different soups. The want shrimp was also very good. The place was pretty busy.

The soup dumplings were decent. I would go back for them when I don't want to drive to Chinatown. I wouldn't get the beef noodle soup again. Our server was really nice and helpful. The restaurant is very clean

We found this place by accident after leaving the dentist office across the parking lot. It's absolutely amazing. The food is fresh. The staff is super friendly. You can watch the chef making soup dumplings while you eat! The food is a variety of different choices and all of its excellent. We really enjoy the Kung pow chicken and the sweet-and-sour chicken and their beef roll is tremendous.

Love love love this spot! I have been multiple times since their opening and the food does not disappoint. Great taste, great serving size, great service. I can't recommend them enough.

    Beef roll

Came in on Thanksgiving and was so thankful they were open. Got the beef roll and the salt & pepper chi c kewings -- both were super good. Crispy, flavorful, not greasy at all. Friendly service and a really clean spot. Will definitely be back!

The entrance with pictures that actually look like the food you will get!

5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

No complaints here since we were starving from an 8 hour road trip. The Dan Dan Noodles...I had high expectations but sadly this dish fell short. I recommend Hu's Cooking to use a bigger bowl and more sauce because it was difficult to mix the noodles and the sauce wasn't...saucing, unfortunately. I wish there was more flavor in this dish. The Scallion Pancake was super over-fried and oily. See image in my review. The outer parts of the pancake were fried to a crisp and only a small circumference in the center stayed chewy. I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here. Dinner on a Saturday was packed but we got seated quickly and food arrived fast.

Pork Bao's are normally my daughter fave but the soup dumplings here are her favorite. She could finish an order on her own. The service is always great. As soon as you get in they give everyone a water and a carafe of more water. There is a QR code to order and you place your order on the phone. The order goes straight to the kitchen and you can add as you go if wanted. I always thought that was pretty cool. The owner came out to say hello and ask how everything is. She even brought out a small bowl of soup for my baby to enjoy. The waitress was also very sweet and attentive. I don't live close by but will make the trip when the craving hits. Today was one of those days. The last time I was here there was no ac and not enough seating. This time it was nice and cool in and well as having new seating! Today was my lucky day because there was plenty of parking spots and seats (although the parking lot is very small). This place is great! I understand the hype for sure. When you walk inside it's just about the smallest restraunt I've ever. Very cozy and cute vibe with smooth jazz playing on a speaker and we got our food very fast. I really enjoyed my time here. Dry Fried Green Beans 5/5- these are the best green beans I have had in my life! I am not exaggerating like I will be thinking about these green beans all week. Do not hesitate to try these. Perfectly salty and good amount of crunch still left. The flavors they used are just perfect. Colorful Beef 4/5- The texture of the beef was so tender and not chewy at all like other places. The flavor was bright and the bell peppers were cooked through well. The issue I had with this dish was the sichuan peppercorns. I was just eating and not really looking at it super closely so I got a mouth full of these peppercorns and wow it was actually horrible. Just beware because the texture of these things are god awful and I think that they should be taken out like how a bay leaf is removed before serving. It was just really intense and it almost ruined the dish for me honestly. Other than that a great dish. My mouth was so numb but worth it. Dandan noodles 2/5- This was my first time trying this dish anywhere and I did not really enjoy it at all. The sesame flavor was really strong and it wasn't really salted at all. Very strange flavor. I will not order this again, however I do believe that the execution on this dish is great. There was a lot of sauce and the noodles were cooked well. I just really wish I liked the flavor of this dish and that's a personal problem. This dish also made my mouth numb but the flavor did not make it worth it. I wanted to like these so badly but I just couldn't do it. I will be back!
